Yudai is shy shy shy. That one friend that people are scared of because he's basically mute unless spoken to and look serious all the time. He lives up to the name Cold Osaka Boy indeed. But he really isn't that scary, just reserved. Like even in the craziest situations he would have a deadpan look. No seriously a earthquake could be happening and he'll calmly maneuver to make sure everyone is safe. He gives off responsible dad vibes like the dude that'll clean up after everyone without anyone asking.  

He's so awkward someone help him pls. He's there and you know him but no one really knows him. If he's given the mic in an interview he'll give straight forward one word answers that really don't keep the conversation going. Not much for reactions either, especially since he can't speak korean well his reactions are nonexistent. When he chuckles s make a big deal out of it saying they finally made him laugh. It's the same with any emotion, he doesn't show them much thinking that it's a private matter. They're there, just pushed down.

Yudai holds back a lot, whether its his emotions or what he wants to say man just holds it all in. People would think that he's blunt but he isn't because in Japan the society is encouraged to act according to social norms. It's normal to go along with the herd and anyone that's outspoken is seen as weird so he usually comes off as polite. He's really private and keeps his opinions to himself unless you're a close friend. The only way he could truly express himself is through music but it's been a while since he's done that.

Born in Osaka Japan with two parents and a younger sister, Ichida Yudai is the oldest son of a family of 4. His family was anything but warm, if they weren’t his family he might as well have lived in a house full of strangers. Yudai grew up not knowing what the word family meant. He can from a seemingly normal family, Yudai had good grades and never acted out or stepped out of line. He was too scared of his father to let his grades slip because he wasn’t shy of slapping him when he did something wrong. He blend in with the rest, never doing anything to stand out too much and fit into society well like his parents wanted.

He could go for months without talking to any of his family while living in the same house. They all just lived together but no feelings were attached. Not even his parents showed affection for each other, he can’t say a time that he saw his parents kiss even on the cheek. When he was younger his mom would try to make small talk about school but the conversation was never lighthearted or comfortable, it always ended up in a lecture about the future and how he has a lot of expectations as the only son. His father had a talent for making everything tense and uncomfortable. But after a while the only time they’d talk was when his mom would ask if he’s coming home for dinner and that wasn’t all the time, she’d mostly just put his portion in the fridge. To say that he ever had a deep conversation with his family, he can’t.

He fell in love with one ok rock in 2010 and that fueled his interest in music from a young age. He always had a pair of headphones on his neck and listened to music wherever he went, for him it helped break the constant silence that lingered in his house. It became a clutch for him whenever he felt some type of overwhelming emotion, sadness, anger, jealousy, music fixed all of that for him. When he got old enough he would go to a local club where live bands played instead studying with his friends like his parents thought he was. In highschool Yudai formed a band with his friends called Hyouryusha (漂流者) meaning castaway. They performed cover songs that soon turned into their own songs at those small underground clubs that he used to frequent. They were only in highschool then but had their own little fanbase. Being in the band was like therapy to Yudai, when he was on stage it was like all his problems didn’t matter at that moment. He felt free, singing what he was going through allowed him to let out his feelings instead of holding it in.

After 2 years of being together Yudai had to leave the band because his dad found out he was performing instead of studying for the college entrance exam. He set fire to all the songs he wrote and smashed his guitar. Music is a waste of time, he said. You’ll never be a singer, he said. Stop dreaming and be realistic for once, he said. It didn’t take much arguing for Yudai to fall in line. He didn’t expect to be a millionaire from singing, so far he didn’t make a dime off of it and he didn’t care because he loved it. But his dad was right, love doesn’t get you anywhere in life.

Hyouryusha didn’t stop after Yudai left, they just replaced him. It caused a ripple between him and his friends who wanted him to rebel against his father but he couldn’t. Later that year he took the college exam, did well as usual and got into Osaka University for computer science. He lived a regular life while at college, still living with his parents it was much like highschool just with more studying and he was legally able to drink (though that didn’t stop him from drinking before). He made new friends that were fellow computer scientists that had no interest in music, more like gamers and anime fans that went to conventions. He never once stepped foot in one of those underground clubs that he used to frequent because it was too painful. He had a girlfriend for a year but she cheated on him then blamed him for it because he was too cold so his love life was going great.

After 4 years of college he graduated with a 4.0 and found a job as a data analyst in Tokyo right after he graduated. He said bye to his family and moved out there to a one tiny one bedroom apartment that his job provided. He spent his days commuting to work and staring at computer codes all day then drinking with his coworkers and doing it all over again. He was living the life his parents expected of him, a normal job that paid well but he was miserable. How can someone do everything so right but it feels so wrong. There were days he found himself blasting music and screaming the lyrics to get his mind off of how much he hated his life. It helped for a bit until the neighbors banged on the wall practically cursing at him.

Auditioning for Prism was a total accident, maybe it was divine intervention from who knows what. He was scrolling on Instagram and saw an ad for boy group auditions. He didn’t follow idols and never saw that kind of ad before so it was weird. He noticed that he made the cut off age and lingered on it for a second before saving it and scrolling past. He didn’t know why he saved it because he knew he wouldn’t try out anyways.

Later that day while he stumbled his way back home more drunk than tipsy after one too many rounds of drinks with his coworkers. He saw a perfectly good guitar on the side of the road laying there like it was trash. The sober Yudai would walk right past it but tipsy Yudai was intrigued. He picked it up and started drunkly playing on his way home, singing all of his favorite songs as he walked home not minding the stares he got from passerbys. When he got home he decided to record himself playing the guitar and drunkly singing a song. The last time he played was when he was in his band so he was all smiles participating in the activity that he once loved. Pouring his heart and soul into singing we are by one ok rock until his neighbors knock him out of his trance by banging on the wall again and he ends the video.

Drunk Yudai lay on his bed half asleep and clicked the wrong button to his saved posts. He found himself staring at the audition ad once again and decided to apply. A spur of the moment decision that must’ve been made off pure instinct because after Yudai clicked send he knocked out and woke up the next day with no memory of auditioning or getting a guitar.

It was a month later he received an email titled Congratulations Yodai! He was totally confused until he saw the video he sent in the email and cringed. When he looked at the form he cringed even more that he spelled his name wrong, it was a miracle he put the right email. He immediately knew it must’ve been the drunk night that left him with a headache all through work the next day. By how smiley he was singing with his eyes closed there was no way he was sober. He tried to send an email back declining the offer but it didn’t send. The thought lingered on his mind the next few days. He’d been given a chance to follow his one true love and ditch the miserable life he was living now, he’d be a fool to let the opportunity slip through his hands.

Since he lives with other people now he’s resorted to e-cigarettes so the smell won’t disturb them but he still prefers cigarettes. E-cigarettes are more like a substitute for when he’s around others.

Ichida Jun / 1962 To say that Yudai isn’t close to his father is an understatement. Their relationship is weird, he doesn’t like him yet still wants to prove him wrong yet still wants to impress him. He despises his dad for how he was raised and wants to blame him for making him such a hard shell but he knows that it’s his life and if he wants to change then he has to himself. Jun has no idea what’s going on in Yudai’s life, he doesn’t know he’s in Korea as a trainee and never asked. Anything he learns about Yudai is from Haruna. So for all he knows Yudai is making money in Tokyo as a data scientist. – Hiroyuki Sanada

Morimoto Haruna / 1964 Haruna tries. She tries to be a loving mother but there’s an awkwardness that’s stopping her from reaching her full potential. It’s not that she doesn’t love her kids, she does, she just doesn’t know how to show it. Cooking is the main way she shows her love. Since becoming a trainee Haruna has been wanting to go see Yudai in Tokyo but he’s been coming up with excuses since he’s no longer there. He can talk to her a lot easier than his dad but still wouldn’t willingly tell her everything. Their conversations are usually just small talk with her asking if he’s healthy and eating and if he found a girlfriend then hanging up without saying the I love yous. – Hitomi Kuroki

Ichida Yuka / 2004 Yuka have a typical sibling relationship, the sarcastic comments and making fun of each other. But they’ve never been the shoulder for the other to lean on. They really don’t talk often at all or tell each other anything. Yudai knows absolutely nothing about his sisters dating history or friends. She’s your typical teenager that gets annoyed easily and doesn’t make the best decisions. Her parents being strict helped her become sneaky too. Part of him wants to get closer to her and be there for her more but he doesn’t know how. He thinks it’s too late for that. The only time they talk is if she doesn’t know where something is in his room that they still haven’t changed or if there’s a meme that reminds her of him. – Kira Yamaguchi

Hayashi Benjiro / 1998 Yudai has no idea what Hyouryusha is doing at the moment or how successful they are (you can choose) but one thing for sure is Benjiro would be salty seeing Yudai be so successful if Vesper made it big. To Benjiro Yudai acts like this strong guy but he's scared of his own shadow and not cut out to be a musician. Something he wouldn't be afraid to say no matter how many fans Yudai has. They used to be best friends but Yudai giving up on the band so easily was the ultimate disrespect to him. – Takumi Kitamura

Nakamoto Yuta / 1995 Yuta is the person that got Yudai all these friends in the first place. He approached him after learning he was Japanese and immediately added him to the Japanese groupchat. Yuta is the frat boy friend that dates many girls and parties when he can. The ultimate ladies man that apparently knows everything except how to keep a girlfriend long term since he doesn’t want to. But Yuta is a good friend, he’s an affectionate guy sometimes a bit much for Yudai who can’t help but cringe though he’s pretty sure that only makes Yuta do it more. Out of all he hangs out with Yuta the most.

Hirai Momo / 1996 Momo is the closest to Sana and out of all of Twice besides Sana the closest to Yudai as well. But his relationship with her tends to be based on how well his relationship with Sana is doing. Twice has a gang mentality, either they all love him and are making fun of Sana whenever he’s around and treating him like family or they’re all glaring at hime. Momo is just like that. Even if she’s not mad she still tries to be supportive by ignoring Yudai too. But she likes them together so she wants them to succeed and do well, which is why if Yudai messes up she’ll make sure to call him stupid and tell him why so they could make up before ignoring him all the way too. But Momo can be kind of slow witted so she’s not always the best of help.

Myoi Mina / 1997 For someone that doesn’t say much Yudai finds her terrifying. Maybe because the few things she does say just happen to be threats about treating Sana well. She’s really observant to the point that she pops up random places without him noticing. Everytime she glares at him he could feel it from a mile away and tries not to make eye contract. They’re both quiet people so without an extrovert to get them to talk it’s pretty awkward when they’re alone. But when it comes to her friend Sana her well-being she gets real talkative and violent real quick.

Im Nayeon / 1995 Nayeon is older than Yudai but sometimes acts like a little sister. She’s close to Sana so she enjoys making fun of the lovebirds with Momo and roasting everything that Yudai does. The nosy kind of friend that has no problem asking way too many personal questions about the relationship that Yudai definitely doesn’t feel comfortable answering but she also shows no signs of backing down. It’s not that he’s scared of Nayeon like he’s scared of Mina but she’s just so randomly loud sometimes that she startles him often.

Miyawaki Sakura / 1998 Sakura is a comfy friend since they’re the same age. His relationship with her is how he’d expect having a sister to be like, supportive with a hint of fun making and passive aggression. She’s actually a really thoughtful person and gives good advice, usually the one to help Yudai get out of trouble with Sana unlike Yuta that typically gets him into more trouble. But Sana gets jealous by their relationship, since he got along with Sakura the most out of all the girls first she saw her as competition. Though Sakura doesn’t see Yudai as even a little attractive and Yudai is at a point where he forgets she’s a girl.

Mizuguchi Yuto / 1999 Yuto is the calm one, way stricter and often the voice of reason. He cares a lot what others think so he’s not as carefree as Yuta. But enjoys laughing at Yudai and Yuta's bickering. He can't hang out with girls without being paranoid that Dispatch will be on his but usually goes along anyways. 




Osaki Shotaro / 2000 Shotaro is the opposite of Yuto, he’s more naive and optimistic. He looks up to Yuta so he’s always down to go along with anything he does. Typically the one that influences Yuto to do dumb things and a frat boy in training.

TRAINEE LIFE: Yudai trained at Prism since the summer of 2020. He handled training well since he was already disciplined and was good at following rules. His personality didn't allow him to get close to anyone, he spent a lot of time on his own. Mostly from his inability to speak the language and especially since he joined late people already had their own cliques. Since he was so quiet others found him pretty scary. As a foreign trainee he had no choice but to dorm and even then he stayed in his room and did his own thing without getting to know the others much. 

He had no experience in dancing so he mostly worked on strengthening that. His singing was great with amazing tone and he never once struggled with pitch, just pronounciation and emotions since he didn't speak the language well and he was basically a brick. He'd love to say that he magically learned that he's an amazing dancer but no he and is terribly slow at learning. His brain gets it but his body doesn't translate it well. He wanted to prove that he deserved to debut because the last thing he wanted was to go back to Japan empty handed after quitting a pretty good job. He spent many nights practicing on his own watching the video over and over until he looked somewhat presentable doing the dance. Part of him doubted that he'd debut, there were younger trainees better than him. But he guesses that the staff saw something in him that he didn't see.

MEDIA PRESENCE: Old fans of Hyouryusha might recognize him but he highly doubts it since they weren't popular. Although, anyone that does remember him would know him for being a soulful performer.

HEADLINES: Ridiculous things about his attitude and assumptions about his character. Rude Korean fans being like “does he know what country he’s famous in” blah blah

CAREER ASPIRATIONS: Expresses himself thru songwriting?? idk man. You can choose how it all plays out and what happens, the only request I have is that he releases the song Shinunoga E-wa as his first solo song, its a love confession to Sana. It could just be on Veseper's album or maybe a solo compilation album for the boys. If or when he goes solo please make his discography twin Fujii Kaze.
