APPEARANCE : 

— Ioa has two forms: human and mer. Anyone she knows wouldn't recignise her other form at all, they are totally differant. Her human form stands 165 cm and weighs 43 kg. Her skin is soft and was very pale but is gaining a tan to it. Her hard nails are whiteish, short and very dainty looking, there is only three knuckles on her fingers too. Her hair darkened to a deep brown color, however it is still the same length. The biggest differant for her has been her eyes. They turned brown and she feels like she can't see nearly as well, even though she can still see better than most humans. 
Ioa's mer form is very differant. She is 292 cm long and weighs closer to 130 kg. Her skin is a pale blue and her hair is a very close liking to gilly weed. Her nails are sharp, long and black as pitch and her fingers have four knuckles. Her mother said her tail looks like the Cadralia palace, a mix of yellows, greens and blues. Her eyes are pure white, as are all merpeople. Her core tempurature is higher than humans as well, again as is the same with all merpeople 

FASHION STYLE :

— In Cadralia merpeople dont really wear clothes, however they do wear a lot of jewelry. Modesty is something they never really thought of so they never really had the idea of covering up, plus there isnt really the same things to cover up. Almost all of the jewelry they have has been found in old ship wrecks, some of the new age younger mermaids have been making their own jewelry but not as many. Everyone in Ioa's family always wears a red stone, hers in a ring she got from her grandmother. She tries to keep her hair in a braid behind her but it never stays that way. 
On land she really wears what ever, she has no fashion sense so she isn't picky. When she met Panthea and got to feel some nice clothes she went a little crazy and now wants clothes like that, made with rich silks and soft fabrics. She hates shoes but eventually broke down and started wearing them once she hurt her feet

Ioa always has a snappy responce to anything and always livens up the room, people cant help but notice her when she walks up. Even with her small stature she still will go toe to toe, verbally, with anyone and she often wont back down. She is always down for something fun, new or exciting, she lives for the thrill. She wakes up every morning with the thought that something new will come and it will be an adventure to get there. She loves learning new things and diving into why things are done the way they are, only so she can find a new way to get it done. She loves to mix things up when ever possible and loathes mundaine things in life
Her biggest downfall is when she falls down. Ioa is the textbook definition of a klutz, she is always tripping over ropes or not doing stairs the right way, but in her defence she didnt grow up with legs, not that she would tell anyone that. The crew just think its a cute thing she does. She is also not observant about things on land, she is always looking aroudn at the new things that she misses obvious things. She was walking around the deck and totally missed the gaping hole to the hold and literally fell in it. One of the crew managed to grab her and haul her back up and she laughed it off. She will also set things down and totally forget where they were, its like once she doesnt see it anymore it doesnt exist anymore. She is so against violence she didn't want to learn to use a sword at first but Jaks was able to convince her it was necciary. She saw another crew member with a bow and arrow, she wanted to try it, keep herself further away from the violence. 

BACKGROUND : Ioa was born in the City by the sea, the deepest point of Cadralia, just on the edge of the drop into darkness (drop off). It was at the Temple of the Ocean Mother. It had been a hard and complecated pregnancy, may thought she wouldnt make it but the queen was resiliant. When she was born Ioa was promised to the Ocean Mother to always serve and follow. 
Growing up Ioa was curious about everything, the land beyond the water, why there were ships underwater, what were the creatures that swam in the shallows and why they didnt come near them like all others. She would spend one month out of every year at the Sequaren temple, her mother called it a pilgramage, and she actually loved her time there. She got to learn so much about the Ocean Mother and once in a while the High Children (priests and preisetesses) would tell her about other religions from the land people. 
She had a bad habbit of going exploring and would always drag her lady in waiting, Axiaë, with her. Her favorite places to go were ship wrecks, expecially after her sistertold her it was from the land people and how they couldn't survive below the waves. Because Arkoasais had to follow her he would go with them as well. 
Her father always told Ioa that Axi and Arko weren't her freinds, they both had jobs to do but she never listened. She would tell Axi all her secrets and Axi told hers as well and she threatened Arko into teaching her some self defence moves. For most of her life it was just the three of them going on a grand adventure, exploring and learning all kinds of new things about land people. 
Arko got into the habit of brining a large sachel with him when they would go exploring because Ioa would always find treasures to bring hom with her, her favorite was books. They would eventually fall apart or wither she would spend as much time as should could pouring over them. She was able to teach herself other languages from them and after pressing the High Children enough she discovered some of them knew land languages and would speak to her in them. 
The most commonly spoken language was Savetsu, apparently it was from a country Cadralian's used to trade with but it has been so long the High Children weren't even sure they were speaking it correctly. Ioa loved the sound of it though so she foudn everyone who knew even a little bit of it. 
After that was Prieçian and she found someone who actually spoke it. There was a banished woman who used to find Prieçian ships and listen to them speak. There was a rumor that she even tried to find a witch to give her human legs because she fell in love with one of the sailors but it didn't work, when the king found out he banished her for it. 
So far in her life Ioa was living for fun and exploration but things changed dramatically. Her mother started sending Axi and Arko off while the two of them sat in council meetings and she started learning the deep history of Cadralia. She absolutly hated it but her mother said every member of the family had a roll to fill, since she was the youngest she didnt get a very fun roll but it was just as important. 
That was also around the time that she caught Axi and Arko together. They werent doing anything bad, he was holding her hand and they were sitting very close but Ioa could read Axi's body language and promptly left. Axia wouldn't admit it but Arko was sworn to Ioa so he had to tell the truth to her when she asked. She called them both in and acted all upset and lord like but in the end smiled and told them she blessed them together. 
A second relationship was annouced as well. Ioa's father announced to the council that she wuold be marrying a Lord from Wrentsea and they would start courting, in fact the young lord was there now. Everyone was taken with Loben's charm and looks but Ioa was not, quite the opposite. She thought he was a slime eel and didn't want anything to do with him. It didn't take very long for him to realise it too but he didn't take it as an opportunity to prove himself, he took it as an opportunity to drop the façade with Ioa. He was one of the believers that the royal family shouldn't have totalitarian rule and someone should stop them, thats why his father set up the arrangement. He was not a nice person and didn't try to hide it from Ioa, he often would promise her that when they were together she wouldn't have any happiness so she had better enjoy her freedom while she had it. 
Every chance Ioa got she would slip away into the waves. Her hair gave her away though so it had to be at the darkest times of night. Axi and Arko would make it appear she was still in her room while she got away then meet up with her later, they would then spend most of the night swimming around the lands. Ioa started to feel hopeless against Loben and Arko kept offering to kill him but that would have been horrible, the outer lands would not like that at all. Axi kept saying they should run away but Ioa couldnt abandon her family like that, she just couldn't. 
One night in particular she went to the shallows alone to watch the land people, they seemed so peaceful and happy. She was a little jealous they could on in the land and water but she never spoke it outloud. She would spend hours watching a land village, she started learning some of their habits and kept going back sooner and sooner in the day, she never told Axi or Arko though, they would have made her stop. It was by luck that she was there early enough one day she got to watch the village be raided and burned. She watched in horror as people tried to flee into the water and she couldn't do anything. A few survivors were able to get into boats, with whom she had her first encounter. One of the boats was taking on water and not getting away fast enough so she swam over to it and pushed it away. The land people didn't seem suprised to see her, just told her she needed to leave before others saw her. 
Days later a storm washed debris from the village into the sea so Ioa had to go through it. She had finally told Axi and Arko about it so they were with her. Axi was digging through a pile when she found a small chest with multiple locks on it, enough that they couldn't get it open but Ioa didn't want to leave it, there could be treasure inside. She made Arko carry it home for her so she could keep working on getting it open. 
Loben found out about her porject and declaired that, since he was the man in the relationship, he should get the box and what ever treasure was inside it and tried to take it from Ioa. She wasn't having it and there was a bit of a scuffle, she took a few blows and she may have hit Loben hard enough to knock him unconcious. 
Ioa fled the palace and the city, going to a cave she often found solitude in. Two days later Arko and Axi found her, still holding on to the box. She refused to go back to the palace, even faught with Axi about it but she wasn't going. Eventually they agreed that Axi would go back to the king and queen, tell them Ioa was safe and with Arko but wasn't ready to come home. They would freak out but there was nothing they could do about it, they trusted Ioa to come home anyhow. 
Arko set to work on opening the box as there was nothing else to do. It took him a while but he did get it open. It appeared to be a rock inside but when he picked it up the rock fell open and revealied a necklace and bracelet. Ioa picked up the bracelet and things got weird. Her entire body felt like it was burning and she couldn't breathe, it was like all the water was from the room and there was nothing she could do. As soon as it started it stopped though and Arko was hovering above her, panicked look on his face. Apparently she had started to physically change, her tail dissapeared and her hair started getting dark. It took all too long for them to realise she was turning into a land person. 
Ioa made the decision that she was going to find the woman who was banshied and ask her about the stone, there is no way a mermaid was trying to turn human and there was a stone for it. It wasn't actually hard to find her, she lived in a large house just outside the city, her banishment only meant she wasnt allowed near the palace or the royal family, not that she had to avoid the city entirely. She explained that she did meet and fall in love with a land person and worked to find magic to turn her human.  It worked but she found that humans dont live nearly as long as merpeople do and her person died so she buried the stone and left the land entierly. 
Ideas started forming, Ioa could get away from Loben where he could never find her, she could leave the sea. But that meant she would be leaving her family as well. Arko came up with a plan that she could leave long enough for Loben to leave for good then he or Axi would find her and have her come home. She agreed that it was a good idea and they headed back to the palace. 
Arko didn't leave Ioa's side for the next few days, until she was ready to leave. She and Axi would swim to shore and Axi would return, saying Ioa had shaken her and she couldn't find the princess anywhere. She had some food and what the land people would call clothes, some coins and jewelry (actually a ton of money) and that was it. Ioa gave Axi the box with the necklace in it to keep save and so one of them could also go to land when the time came and she left. 
Turning human . It hurt and Ioa ended up hacking up so much water she thought she was going to drown, a mermaid, drowning. Luckily people came up and helped her. She had no idea what to do, where to go or that it would be so cold on land. She mainly stayed by the ports and was able to get a room to stay in. The beds were scratchy and uncomfortable but she eventually got the hand of it. 
Weeks after she left her home is when she went back into the water. She went on a fishing boat, just for something to do. It was strange, she had never been on top of the water, only in it. She looked for her kin but knew she wouldn't see them, they blended in with the water too much. 
Over the weeks Ioa got bored, she had nothing to do or people to talk to. She began wandering around the port and docks. She didn't think it would a big deal, she climed onto one of the bigger ships to look around. She wasnt there for long before someone screamed at her, startling her. She panicked and all the horror stories of pirates came flying back to her so she did the only rational thing, she lept over the ledge. Rationally it should have been fine, however Ioa never thought of the fact that she didn't know how to swim with human legs...and she was drowning again. 
She knew for sure she was going to die as a human but something pulled her out of the water, no someone. A good looking someone who was calling her a list of insults for not knowing how to swim. She was hauled onto the deck of the ship but there was only twomen on the ship, both peering at her. Her rescuer introduced himself as Jaks, the quarter master of the ship she had barged onto, the other kept quiet. Ioa didn't know how to react to him yelling and seeming angry at her but also worried about her. He insisted on taking her to the inn and making sure she was ok.

she misses the Temple of the Ocean Mother so much, she has been trying to line up Cadralian land with that of the land people but it has been harder than she thought

LOCATIONS:

— Svíkjagarðr, one of the least desired places in all the the realm. Svíkjagarðr is a dark, almost abandoned port on the edge of the of the drop into darkness. Money flows freely during the spring harvest but nothing flows there in the off seasons.
— The Dolbonear Reef, the Dolbonear Reef is the warmest, best vacation loation in Caldral. The sands are soft and a fine peach color with all the buildings built into the coral
— The Fliojeadale, Fliojeadale is the norther most point of the realm. It does get bitter cold in the winter but the winter palace is one of the most beautiful locations in the cold seasons.
— Islingtham Rise, the rise is located far out from shore but it is the highest point in Caldral. The palace there is made from glass taken from the sea bed and it glitters in the sun light. 
— The Eastern Hinderance, just past the waistland is the Eastern Hinderance. It is a vast farm land location where most of the food for the realm comes from. There have been a few carts lost to outcasts on the way from the Eastern Hinderance

— Digrknǫttr, there is one island in the drop into darkness and only the strong can survive there. Digrknǫttr has less than 100 merpeople there but it has some of the richest soil found in Caldral, it also happens to be situated on the side of an active mountain and it is set to go off soon again.

It hurt Ioa to leave her best friend but it was what she needed to do. She keeps talkign to Axi eventhough she isnt there

Akro was totally against Ioa's plan but he knows she will do anything once she has her mind set on it. He has still kept his eye on her, once he figured out which land dweller she was

Purrhaa has a special place in her heart for Ioa. She lost two children before Ioa so when she came along Purrhaa doted on Ioa while growing up. She is heart broken with it

Hī́Meros loves all his children equally but most people can tell Ioa is his favorite. He let her get away with anything and didnt ever expect her to get involved in anything with the royal family. He knew she would never actually marry the Baskanan boy, she was too strong willed for it.

Eran and Ioa didnt really ever get along, they are just too many years apart from the other to get along well

Erina adores Ioa, they were the closests. The age idfferance didnt matter to them. When Ioa left she game Akros a letter For Erina trying to explain and instructing her to destroy the letter once she read it

Meskaa and Ioa didnt get along but they didnt not get along, they more cohabitated the palace. It took her a few days more to notice when Ioa was gone

Haema is a close seond to closeness with Ioa. They were always doing mischif and things together when they were younger. She was probable the most upset about Ioa being gone.

Enthousiasmos did not get along with Ioa, in any way shape or form. Enthousiasmos always thought Ioa was reckless and annoying, that she had no regard to the royal way of life and she wasn't really upset when Ioa was gone, she thought it made Caldral better.
