I was thinking of making some kind of app (Android for now) that will be helpful to authors/readers of fanfiction, especially for users of sites like this one. Below are the notes I have for ideas (they're a bit incoherent, so apologies for that LOL)

app for ease of communication between reader and author
-alert for when an update is uploaded/published
--can set the app to follow certain authors
--also, can set the app to follow certain topics/tags

feature: people can log in and 'follow' their favorite authors, who can post updates on stuff (like facebook posts)
-main function: communication btw author and reader
-maybe can also have stuff like polls?
-place to submit requests for certain stories/one-shots
--authors can create forms readers can use to submit requests, maybe forms for other stuff too?

place to read fanfics given a link to the fanfic(? might have legal issues with this, probably will need some kind of API)
-interface with more than just text
--translations of words upon request
--looking up certain phrases upon request
--maybe can take personal notes/annotations within the chapters to look back at/remind oneself what the story was about when the newest chapter comes out
