han siwoo has always been, and always will be, sensitive to others' emotions. he is particularly in tune with negative ones and feels them strongly, as if they were his own. in the past, he'd be the first to stand with the little guys without power, to fight for them when no one else would because he felt their pain. but the betrayal he experienced had closed off his heart. no longer would he stick his neck out for them. its everyone for themselves out there and he's no longer willing to place a target on his back, because even if he can fight a cat today, he'll just be eaten alive by a lion tomorrow.
when siwoo closed off his heart, he also lost the ability to express emotion. to him, showing vulnerability to someone is the same as being weak, and he is terrified of being seen as weak. he will not go back to those days, he will not repeat the same mistakes. but a cup can only carry so much before it overflows and siwoo is still just human being. after all, feelings buried alive never die, and when they come back, there's only red hot anger that he can't control. most days this looks like broken drywall, smashed furniture and his own blood, other times, he'll bait a fight in the dark alleys behind their dorms. so it's best to maintain your distance when he's like this, there's a reason he keeps his doors locked. he's worked hard at keeping his anger under control, but he still has a long way to go. this makes him very inflexible to change. when there is a set routine and good support systems, then he knows what to expect and his anger doesn't bubble over quite as often. but when everything is uncertain, he's more on edge, and the smallest thing can set him off again.
losing is yet another sign of weakness, and he'd rather die first than lose. even if it's for something dumb, he will compete with you. who eats the most, who can tolerate the cold better etc. and he will train himself to beat you if he has to. although this trait of his has been more than beneficial due to his career choice (you need that hunger to survive trainee life, after all). on top of that, once he's set his mind on something, he will follow through one way or another. he's both persistent and competitive. add on being angry all at once makes for a very intense person. to the point that he can be a bit too much for some. there's no off switch for him, only go and go. similarly, he's highly opinionated for no reason. from thinking his favourite cafe is the best cafe in seoul and he will not be convinced otherwise to green is a terrible colour please stand far away from him.
the time he spent with ty friends in ty environments has given him two gifts. first is incredible observation. he spent a large portion of his adolescence afraid of being targeted, and paired with his emotionally sensitive nature means he is able to keep track of a relatively large amount of people at once. from their body language, facial expressions and tone of voice. this way he isn't caught by surprise if something goes down and he can remove himself from a situation before it even breaks out. his second gift is confidence, and not in a fake it til you make it sense. in fact, one may say he has a bit of an ego (though thankfully he's not quite to the point of checking himself out in the mirror). mostly though, he just knows his own worth that even the most abusive of trainers cannot break him. and when siwoo has won almost every fight, every competition and has a company willing to accept him despite his issues because of the value he brings to the team, well its no wonder.
when he's working, he becomes yeon. yeon is the version of himself that has his together. although he cannot be yeon all the time, for the few hours a day that he is, he can at least pretend to be a real human being, not just a ticking time bomb that even his own parents avoid. for once he can think about things other than trying not to let himself explode. he can focus on improving his craft, the people he cherishes, and most importantly, himself. as yeon, he's fiercely protective of his group members and their fans. he'll roast them, he'll listen to their worries and he'll nag them if they're not taking vare of themselves. but don't expect the same from siwoo, because its every man for themselves once those walls are back up.
nowadays, siwoo always puts himself first. he has zero tolerance for anything that he perceives as a slight to him and he often ends up aiming at the wrong guy because of it. he absolutely will speak to a manager if he feels that he is being taken advantage of (even if he's wrong) and if you ever find yourself on his bad side then its gg for you. there are no second chances in the world of siwoo, one strike and you're out.

siwoo can barely recall the face of his childhood bully, but he definitely remembers all the he was put through because of him. the worst wasn't the ostracisation, the embarrassment or even the physical pain. no, by far the worst was the helplessness he felt when he finally gathered the courage to figh back only to find there was no one there for him, not like he was for them. it was the betrayal he felt when the same kid he had saved countless times had been the one to report him for school violence.
"siwoo, why did you get so angry at a game?" the teacher had said to him. siwoo desperately tried to explain that they had held him down to take turns at him, that they weren't just playing pretend, but he couldn't get the words out because the tears would not stop flowing.
"han siwoo, stop making excuses! you're the one who acted inappropriately. you should take some time to reflect on your actions."
the second time he tried to fight back, he was hospitalised for a month. he doesn't remember the name of his bully, but he certainly remembers the frustration in his mother's voice when the school sent her on a bureaucratic goose chase for the fifth time. he remembers her tears when they couldn't pull together money for a lawsuit because all of their savings had gone to his medical bills instead. little by little, siwoo learnt how unfair the world was. little by little, the world had killed the curious child and in its place was only anger.
you're really going to try me today, huh?" he heard from behind as a kick hit the back of his chair. "have i been going to easy on you?"
siwoo closed his eyes, taking deep breaths to calm his racing heart.
"look at me!"
siwoo was knocked off his chair with a swift kick to the side of his torso. when he still didn't give into the demands, another kick came down onto his stomach, leaving him gasping for air. when he next opened his eyes, he saw that damned foot coming towards his face again, but he wasn't fast enough to react and the loud crack of his nose breaking echoed through the empty classroom. everytime the foot came down, it filled his glass just a little more until he was running on raw adrenaline. it took two people to hold him down, it was as if he was a wild beast, cornered and fighting for his life. yet there was nothing he could do except take the ruthless blows raining down on his face. when his vision finally returned during a lull, he noticed a pen being passed around, but just as quickly, his shirt was lifted over his head to blind him.
"i wonder what would be a fitting name for you?"
"i like 개새끼 (bastard)," lackey number 1 suggested, throwing his head back in laughter.
"you are a genius."
and then there was a sharp stabbing pain in his left chest as they stabbed the pen into him, dragging it across to make the first . a scream rang out in the ear. it took prompting from the trio for siwoo to even recognise the voice as his.
"shut up," lackey number 2 said nochalantly, emptying a bottle of water onto his covered face. it was as if this was just another normal day for them. in that moment, the downward came, slowly tearing through his skin. every second felt like a year. this time, only the sound of laughter could be heard. siwoo couldn't breathe through the wet cloth. his lungs burned with every breath he took, and somehow he could still feel the muscles in his chest being torn apart. every fibre of his being felt like it was dying. on this day, something in his mind snapped permanently. the moment he felt the pen go slack, he ripped it out of his own chest,and drove it into the assailant's eyes over and aver again.
the blood of his tormentor felt warm as it dripped onto his cheeks.

↺ there is a deep scar on his left chest in the shape of the number 7, but a phoenix tattoo has since made it unnoticeable unless you know to look for it.
Style:
siwoo dresses like a stereotypical kdrama chaebol, with turtlencks, sweaters, button up shirts and wool cats. sometimes he'll throw in fake glasses too since it softens up his sharp features.
he wasn't always a fashionable, but being in the idol industry and surrounded by stylists over the years has taught him more than enough.

Likes:
• stories with happy endings ↺ he's a bit of an idealist and hopeuless romantic at heart. even though he won't get his happy ending in the real world, at least he can live vicariously through fictional characters. you can pry happy endings from his cold, dead hands.
• sunrise/early mornings ↺ that moment he has to himself while the world is still asleep makes him feel more at peace and has never failed to soothe him through a difficult time. unfortunately being an idol means that everyone and their mothers are already awake before dawn.
• animals ↺ siwoo loves them to the point of obsession because they're predictable and won't bite the hand that feeds them. they especially won't scheme against you the same way a human being could. he absolutely will sleep with a giant spider before another person (of course, only after taking precautions to not squish them overnight).
• the saw movies ↺ it's not really the movies themselves that he enjoys but the way that terrible people die in horrific ways is highly cathartic for him. the more gory, the better. once in a while he will marathon his entire dvd set even though he knows it drives his anger issues out of control afterwards.
• money ↺ from a young age he's learnt that money means power. so he's determined to get as much of it as possible.
Dislikes:
• rich people ↺ his past has exposed him to several groups of them, all of whom were just ty people and now he hates them all. yes he loves money and wants to be rich, no he is not aware of the irony.
• green ↺ not really sure what it is about the colour green, but seeing it sets off a visceral reaction of disgust
• heat ↺ siwoo's body doesn't cool down easily, so he's always extremely uncomfortable in the heat and summer weather. especially so when in a stuffy dance studio with 9 other sweaty dudes.
• sweets ↺ siwoo is more of a savoury food person and although he does enjoy some light desserts from time to time, he feels physically sick if something is too sweet. his go to tea and coffee is with no sugar (though milk depends on his mood).
• being touched/pda ↺ nothing good has ever come out of other people touching him (in his experience at least), so it sets off his fight or flight instincts. if you and your partner want to make out in front of him, go ahead, just keep your hands off him please.
Habits:
• always hyper aware of his environment and other people so he knows how to react. this is an instict from his past to minimise confrontation and he doesn't even know that he does this anymore
• will. not. stop. competing. over the dumbest thing since he thinks people won't mess with him if he's the best. you slept 5 hours? well i'll sleep 4 tonight. wow you exercised 3 hours yesterday? i'm going to the gym for the rest of tonight, don't bother me. like chile my friend.
• his body language is almost always closed. his default resting posture has his arms between him and other people and crossed ankles. unless prompted not to do so in a photoshoot, he'll cover part of his face with his hands.
Trivia:
• siwoo wasn't supposed to have a stage name, but it helped with pretending. it was siwoo that had the anger issues after all, not yeon so he could at least keep it under control until he's off the clock.
• there's no real meaning behind why yeon was chosen. when the company asked for suggestions, he picked a random one syllable flower and called it a day.
• yeon takes on the has an warm older brother role in the group as decided by the company. he'll ruthlessly tease his dongsaengs, but is also the first to encourage them with a bright smile and is fiercely protective of them, at least on camera.
• his nickname is hanwoo. it was a nickname created by fans because he a snack and its a fun play on his name. but then his friends started making fun of him because imagine your nickname being korean beef. hanwoo rates it 4/10
• tends to smell like vetiver thanks to his aftershave
• highly incapable of drinking thanks to him hating the taste as well as being basically allergic. thank god for that or he'd be an alcoholic too.
• loves to swim! although he enjoys most types of exercise, swimming is his favourite, and has an added bonus of improving lung capacity for better belts.

given that they are both main vocalists, they often work closely and have great teamwork. siwoo generally likes main vocalist, lead dancer and gets along with him. however, siwoo also sometimes feels threatened by main vocalist, lead dancer for the same reason, they are both main vocalists and he is therefore competition. siwoo often gets angry when compared (rank your groupmate's singing abilities etc.). though its often spun as "siwoo respects his other main vocal too much" rather than "siwoo feels threatened", some eagle eyed fans have started noticing...

siwoo hates jaewon with every fibre of his being and absolutely blames jaewon and his two lackeys for ruining his life. although siwoo can't quite remember jaewon's name, his face has has forever been burned into his memory. untreated trauma has also meant that siwoo has fantasised severely violent deaths for jaewon on multiple occasions, and he may or may not execute one if given the chance...

• male idol assaulted fellow trainee and kicked from the company?
• fans accuse s.o.s yeon of assaulting and blinding aeon's jaewon in the past - jaewon is also an idol and often tells the story of how he became blind (of course omitting the fact that he was about to carve the word "bastard" on someone's chest"). althought, no names are ever dropped, aeon fans feel protective over the boys and made an educated guess based on public information provided of both the boys. mostly resolved when the classmate siwoo used to protect comes forward with the truth, but the damage has already been done.
