40 Questions for Fanfic Writers (Stolen from every writer lol)

I am definitely not an established writer but I thought this will throw some light about myself to me. We need to know ourselves after all. Lmao

1. Describe your comfort zone

Strangely my comfort zone is writing angst. I suppose pouring out angst comes naturally to me.

2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Trope as I understand is a writing element but I'll use it as a genre in here so Soulmate au is something I am yet to write so I would love to give it shot.

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole?

and Yuri probably.

4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

I have many, many stories stored up in my laptop written over the years. I was too reluctant to share them but these days I am starting to.

I wouldn't mind sharing a story that is currently raging in my mind.

"The crimson blood looked breathtakingly beautiful as it splattered all over the snow. She understood that it came from her body but still thought it was art.

But what she couldn't understand even when her life flashed before her eyes was that the man, who declared himself as her enemy was crying out his lungs for her.

And all she felt was pain, not for herself but for him."

"He watched her bleed but all he could do was cry and wait for the rescue to come. To loathe her and keep a distance from her still did not stop his heart from falling in love with her all over again.

He and his brother really was a bane to her existence and yet she was too magnetic to be left alone. If only he had left her when he got the chance... If only he could really hate her like he claimed to be.

If only he could be the one bleeding... If only she never met them."

It is a mystery, angst sort of thing with actions staring Chen/ Jongdae.

5. Share one of your strengths.

Hehe

6. Share one of your weaknesses.

Haha

7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

It is not a piece but from stories that I have published, I think I loved FREE HUGS the most and will say I am most proud of it. Why because it is in many ways very personal to me. Also this story is written in such a way that it resembles snapshots taken at different moments in life.

Every chapter is a piece that I love although it is far from perfect.

The other one is my current story WAIT!. It is just beginning but I have to say I love writing this one. It is painful but melancholically beautiful.

I think I love it when stories are raw and poignant. It does not have to be popular.

8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

I wanted to post a dialogue from What is Love? but realized it would be MAJOR spoiler because it is a dialogue that takes place in chapters way far off than the current time.

So here is one from UGLY and I love it because it shows that even the seemingly strongest person can be affected by harsh words but could also be mended. /Spoiler alert

Baekhyun wipes his eyes and turns to look at her, his eyes almost fierce. "Listen Isuel... You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I was foolish and I was blind. I am so sorry for hurting you, for making you feel like that. You don't deserve any of that... so please... Never think of yourself like that, not because of a sorry like me."

She goes quiet and watched him as though trying to see if he was lying. But then after a moment, she whimpers her lips wobbling.

"You mean it?" She asked, her eyes wide and hopeful. It broke his heart. It felt as though his heart had shattered. She was going through all of these because he had been an . Unlike what he had thought, he actually made a huge impact upon her... In a bad way and he hated himself.

He kisses her forehead over and over again and cradled her face nodding his head vigorously knowing his voice will betray him. He was sorry and his body radiated that as his eyes trickled down tears after tears.

"I am sorry, I am so sorry... I am sorry..." He does not know how many times he had apologized before she tiptoed to him and kisses him on the lips, smiling into it.

He was forgiven.

He probably never cried like that all his life but he was glad. All the scars he made... He was the only one who could mend  it and he did... at least he tried.

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?

When imagination just flows, it goes smooth but once it stops... I don't want to write again, I don't. This is why I don't post stories unless I am almost half-way done or something.

But I think among the published one, FREE HUGS was the hardest to write. It was the easiest in terms of literal writing but I had to fight myself regarding how it turns out.

The amount of debates I had to do in my mind... Phew~

10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?

Definitely BLEEDING BLUE because I don't remember having any trouble writing that. It just flowed well and I was crying but I loved writing every bit of it.

11. Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?

I wish it could be a passion but currently it is a very passionate hobby of mine. In the future I hope I will make it!

12. Is there a moment above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

Sometimes when I am listening to music, it hits! Stories of the Songs is therefore a series that I created for those moments. Sometimes it could be when I am alone and is in somewhere nice. It could be anywhere!

13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?

To show and not tell although I am still to achieve this.

Also 'DISCIPLINE' because inspiration is only about 10% of the story. The rest is discipline!

14. What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

IDK I ignore things which are unimportant.

15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

One of the story I am yet to publish called 'The Beloved of All Gods'. It is a fantasy, adventure, romace related to dieties, gods and goddesses, kings and queens/royalty.

It is extremely adventuristic where the girl goes on a mission with dozens of gods and human trailing after her. It's a triology BUT it is still all in my head XDXD

I would love to see a live action where lots of SFX will be utilized. Hhaha ALSO EXO WITH SUPER POWERS XD

A human girl, as ordinary as she seemed was choosen by the goddess of wisdom to carry out this mission - to stop the earth god from creating even more havoc. In her journey, she is accompanied by a couple of humans - the scholar Chen, the Prince Chanyeol, the Princess Yoomi and as she went on she finds favor with the messenger god, the water god and the wind god. The period for this story is set in the ancient times but my own history.

Could be reverse harem

(Would you guys be interested in this though?)

16. If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?

I don't write pairings. Only with OCs.

17. Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

I write from start to finish but there are certain scenes which I want to put in so I write it down somewhere and put it in when I reach that part of the story.

18. Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?

Definitely outlines. I make super rough outlines before I begin and I try to follow it and develop as I go. Very hard though.

19. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?

Would I sound conceited if I say me, myself and I? Lmao. I love to imagine myself in different situations so obviously all stories begins with me and I add other things as it goes by.

20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.

It is purely MOOD. I could be in the best possible situation to write BUT I cannot write it unless I am in the mood.

21. How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

As much as possible. I reread a lot! And every single time I edit them lol because crappy. I still need to edit my stories lol

22. Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style.

LOOOLLL

I'll get one from the OLDEST ONE I have ever written.

I pulled out a chair and place it as close to his bed as possible. He felt so far away that I felt the need to catch up on him.

There were lots of book on the shelf and figured his mother had put him there. I had picked one and was reading the first page when he stirred and opened his eyes. Then as if like he knew I was there sitting by his bedside he turns over to look at me. My heart skipped a beat.

“Hi.” That was all I could manage.

“I thought it was only a beautiful dream.” He says in a tired whisper. I searched for his hand without the IV drip and held it tight.

“You had a dream about me?” I whispered back feeling as if like if I talk out loud everything will lose its magic.

“Yes.” He smiles at me.

“What did you dream about?”

“We were simply sitting in our garden... Your perfume woke me up.”

“Really? But I don’t wear perfume.”

“No. Maybe it’s not perfume. Maybe it is your scent. Do you know you smell much like raspberries and green grass? I love it. It’s like summer wind.”

I felt my heart thump wildly in my chest. Not good.

He suddenly grips my hand hard.

“You know it’s not good for me to be around you so much.” He gave me a really serious look. My heart suddenly deflates. It was true that he was here in the hospital because of me.

“Why?”

“Because my heart begins to beat wildly.”

sigh~

That was from one of the first one-shot I wrote that I completely. It is a Luhan One shot. Hehe. Damn.

If I were to write it now I'd probably just edit it and I am lazy.

23. If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?

Probably BLEEDING BLUE. I said I don't recall having problem with it and went with the flow so I did not give much thought on the writing. If I reread it now I cringe so bad BUT I haven't had the time to fully revamp it.

I love that story so I want to polish it up. Hopefully in the near future.

24. Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?

Yes.

25. What do you look for in a beta?

Someone who have a similar style to mine but better than me and someone who wouldn't mind giving out critic.

26. Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?

No. But I would love to.

27. How do you feel about collaborations?

If it is with someone who can go ahead and plan with it, it is truly phenomenal because great stories are born. Unfortunately it could go the other way too.

28. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Damn... Three. Of the top of my head -

  1.  Korey
  2. Amber_rose
  3. Loviet

These three/ and so many others tbh but I cannot help but fangirl every single time I read their stories. The details, the feelings, the beauty of their writing is something I wish to achieve. In all honesty, they have written better stories than some established writers themselves.

29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

HAHA. This question. I have a sequel to ALMOST every story I read in my head or sometimes a prequel.

Right now though I read S.O.S in Bel Air and I am hurteeeeddd so the only option is to create a scenerio for myself to plaster the heart ache.

30. Do you accept prompts?

YAASSS... I don't write them usually but prompts sometimes set off the most amazing world that I wouldn't have normally thought of.

31. Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?

If I ever write canons, I try to be compliant to the original because I respect the work so much that I am writing it on my own as well.

32. How do you feel about ?

I don't mind reading it BUT I doubt I will write it.

33. How do you feel about crack?

I feel like I could be good at crack because I am a crack pot myself. Haven't tried. Might someday.

I like reading them at times just to be amazed at some creativity.

34. What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?

NOPE. Guilty pleasures for reading but I would not write them

35. Would you ever kill off a canon character?

Totally. If I am to enter their world, I woudn't mind sliting some throats to dominate it.

36. Which is your favorite site to post fic?

Asianfanfics - this site is healthy.

37. Talk about your current wips.

Currently writing and publishing two and getting tempted to post the other ones as well.

38. Talk about a review that made your day.

I get the sweetest comments ever like honestly... can ya'll be a little mean? Hahah... Kidding.

There are some comments/reviews that I recieve (especially about UGLY) that it has encouraged them or that my writing has impacted them and they come back for it. Honestly, I LIVE for that. That is the highest form of flattery.

39. Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?

Like I said, I get the sweetest ones only. I wouldn't mind receiving some rude ones just to see what happens.

40. Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one).

If there is anyone here who has read BLEEDING BLUE, than ya'll know it is going to be that one. I am planning to write it someday... already thought of the plotline tbh so I may (or may not) post it as a gift. (Santa Claus as hint. LOL.) It will be a merge of 2 of my fanfic.

THIS TOOK ME FOREVER!!!!

If you have reached till here without dropping out... ThANK YoU.
