Kind : Mina tries to avoid hurting others, instead uplifting them wherever possible. She never fails to give her loved ones or people she finds cool words of encouragement when needed, even if she can't say much. She tries her best to show genuine love to everyone around her, even sacrificing herself to make them happy.

Caring : Mina sees all the members of SLJK as her family and looks out for them and keeps them out of trouble, even those that are older than her by many years. She makes sure to give them words of encouragement before important events and be updated on what is happening to them, and take note of how she can make their day better.

Friendly and talkative : Mina loves getting to know others and she believes the best way to do so is by talking to them, about anything under the sun. However, Mina has a tendency to talk too much at times, sometimes when it is unwelcomed.

Stubborn : When Mina wants something, she will work hard towards it no matter how many obstacles are thrown in her face. If there is no way, she will make a way. Because Mina will not accept failure, she won't listen to people when they try to dissuade or even stop her. She won't stop fighting until she gets what she wants, and she will continue believing that she will.

Irritable and blunt : Mina is not someone who controls her temper well, and has a tendency to lash out when provoked. Furthermore, when she is angry, she tends to have harsh words for others and call them names. She is not someone who pretends to be polite to people she does not like or keep her opinions to herself, no matter how offensive they may be.

Impulsive : Mina is someone who has her heart over her head, and has a tendency to rush into things without thinking of the consequences.

Idealistic : Mina has not experienced many setbacks and therefore has a rose-tinted view of life. She thinks idol life is glamorous and fun, but is unaware of the things that she has to sacrifice and things that happen behind the scenes. She tries to be a motherly / elder sister to her members, but often neglects herself and lacks maturity to solve her own issues.

background Mina was born in 1999 to a housewife and a volleyball coach. When Mina started middle school, she ended up in the school where her father was the coach of the volleyball team, and to appease him, joined the volleyball club. Nevertheless, she ended up falling in love with volleyball, and during every training and competitive match, gave her all in it. Thanks to her, the school earned many wins. Mina later became aware that several prestigious overseas universities offered scholarships for school team players, and wanted to go to a university in America. Until she accidentally watched a video on NicoNico called "Aqours First PV", and was instantly captured by the cute anime girls, the upbeat melody and the cheerful lyrics.

Mina later discovered other idol groups, and spent her free time watching their videos and learning their dances, and realised dancing made her happy, somehow happier than volleyball did. Even though she tried to put all her heart into trainings and matches, she just didn't feel it. She wished she was dancing in her room instead, or even on a stage. When she told her parents how she felt, they gave her a compromise. She could take a gap year after high school to audition for companies and if she didn't get accepted within a year, she would go to college on a scholarship as a school team volleyball player. Which she did, and she auditioned for several companies. Unfortunately, she was rejected by all the companies in Japan that she auditioned for. Luckily, she had gotten to know about K-pop idols and Korean companies through her schoolmates, as K-pop was gaining traction in Japan due to many groups' Japanese promotions. Mina sent her audition tape to several Korean companies, and eventually SM Entertainment accepted her as a trainee. After 4 years of training, Mina was chosen to be in the SLJK2 training program in 2019.

training Mina started teaching herself how to dance after she watched Aqours' first PV. As her home was rather small, she would practise in the school hall after school, sometimes even before volleyball trainings. She didn't know what she was doing back then, she just knew she was having fun. But as the days passed and she found herself increasingly wishing she was dancing while she was doing other things, Mina began to wonder if just learning dance for fun would be good enough for her. Which was why she decided to take a gap year and audition for companies. Thinking that maybe she really was meant for the idol life, she agreed when SM Entertainment offered her a contract. During her trainee days at SM, Mina tried her best to be the perfect trainee and be friendly and nice to everyone in addition to working hard. However, there were just some trainees she couldn't get along with no matter how hard she tried.

Training to become a k-pop idol is definitely not easy, especially when you're in SM. Mina was not used to spending hours training, practising moves or singing until she got every move right and hit all the notes, and she hated not being able to use her cellphone during training days. At least on Saturdays she was allowed to move around freely, in black clothes and a face mask, and she could call her parents and old friends to catch up with them. However, she told herself this was a sacrifice she had to make to become a perfect idol. It also helped that there were some Japanese girls in the program, so Mina wasn't completely lonely. Her loud, outgoing and excitable personality helped her make fast friends, however her bluntness and short temper also caused for some conflicts.

first meeting As a trainee, Mina often was a backup dancer for SM girl groups, including GJSN. So even before the SLJK2 training program was started, Mina and Sieun ran into each other quite often. However, they were acquaintances at best until the SLJK2 training program started, as Mina often tried to talk to Sieun but the older girl had her own schedules.

When Mina was selected for the SLJK2 training program, Sieun would often sit in on the practises, and talk to Mina more. Mina seemed like a hardworking and persistent person who would relentlessly pursue her dreams to the older girl, something Sieun saw in her younger self. This led to Sieun taking Mina as her protege.

relationship They generally get along well due to both having a similar personality, and Sieun's "dad friend" nature, and she's one of the only people who can call Mina out and tell her things she needs to, but doesn't want to hear. In a way, Sieun is a role model to Mina not just as an idol but as a person.
