— She is short and slim, a little muscular though as she used to be an athlete. She has long honey brown hair that cuts off just after her chest. She has thin bangs, stopping right after her eyebrows, which are the same color as her hair. She has dark brown eyes and a small nose. She has thinner lips and a dimple in her left cheek.

Her favorite color is grey, so that is the main color of her wardrobe. She loves jeans and knitted sweaters. She likes boots and sneakers, but it all has a girly flair. She loves necklaces with big pendants, knitted hats and bracletts. She doesn't like to wear earrings but will if she has to.

She is insanely girly as some people would put it. She loves bright colors and anything with ruffles or beads. She does enjoy plain sweaters too long for her arms so she can hold onto the ends. She likes skirts and dresses and sometimes a small heel to complete her looks. She likes jewlery but only small stuff. Nothing too flashy. She likes to think her look is simple but sweet. She likes purses and accesories like bows, headbands, and hair clips. She likes thin scarves and sneakers. She wears flats and she has one pair of brown boots that she wears occasionally. 

She wears make-up but it's always light. She doesn't do any kind of make-up that would be considered dark outside of her idol work. 

 

Idol Life - 

Hyejin is adaptable for work and understands the insitance on wearing darker colors and makeup for concepts and specific stage performances, show appearences, etc. She doesn't go for styles like that normally, but considers herself a chameleon in terms of being an idol performer and working for an entertainment company.

+ Hyejin is hardworking. She's not the hardest worker you have ever seen, but she's very passionate about her work and her craft. She appreciates how dedication and drive will more often than not produce results, whether good or bad. She doesn't ever think about "working hard," she just works toward her goals. She is always striving to work harder for her friends, family, and her career. Hyejin is open minded and accepting. Well, she tries to be. She somtimes slips up and fails. It's human nature to see someone and immediately make judgment calls based on what they see. She, however understands that the world is changing and she is trying to change her view points and opinions to change with the times. 

+ A staple of being a successful idol is being kind to those you meet. You come into contact with so many people along your travels and with everything that you do, and life will become incredibly hard is you aren't kind and respectful. Her parents taught her the value of a smile and professionalism and she tries to exuse that with whatever she does and wherever she is, regardless of the situation. Mind you, that isn't always easy. Too many people live their lives in a very different mannor and she had of course been on the recieving end of people who were so kind. Hyejin tries not to spend time biting of more than she can chew and she puts a lot of effort into keeping her group members from getting overambitious as well. She loves their creativity and imagination, but she also wants to inject a little bit of realism as well. She tries to be sensible and responsible since it's where she's comfortable and everyone around her gets to stretch their creative wings a little bit. 

= Hyejin is very brain oriented as opposed to heart. She makes decisions based on logic and looks at things from a very organized and scientific point of view. It keeps things stable and consistent within her group and her training, but it does get in the way of her being able to take risks and be more creative or artistic. 

- Hyejin is a little bit wayward at the moment. She's delighted to be selected for the new group, but is a little worried that it's only two years. She is worried that during that time, SM may go ahead and debut another gril group without her, which would set her back even further. She's been training for seven years and hopes she doesn't miss her chance to be successful. She wants to be an idol more than anything and she loves to perform, but she sometimes wonders if this is her calling. If this is what she is meant to be doing and she now has trouble seeing herself doing this longterm. She was hungry for debut, but after being passed over again, she has trouble seeing a future for herself in the industry, not that hs eowuld voice those concerns very often. Hyejin tends to over analyze and over think everything. She takes things a little too literally and over complicates simple situations. Which practice rooms should she use? What time should she head home? Sometimes, she overthinks things as simple as, "What should I have for lunch." Her mind is working in odd ways and that is always constant. 

- After being continuously shelved by SM, all of Hyejin's optimism is gone. She basically expects things to go wrong and tries to always be prepared for the worst. She understands how the world works, but she doesn't think that it's fair and she is always planning for a worst case scenario. It's said that you should expect the best but prepare for the worst, but she doesn't expect the best. In fact. when things go as planned and nothing's wrong, she can find herself genuinely surprised. Pleasantly but still surprised. It almost like she is living with her breath held, always being relieved at the good things.  Due this pessemism, she tries to control every aspect of her day. That isn't limited to the people in her life. Her friends and family sometimes find themselves being buldozed over, though most of the time it's not intentional. It started becoming a problem when she started avoiding situations that took away her control. Like rollarcoasters and car rides. She can't actially avoid cars, but she doesn't enjoy them very much. She wishes she could be the one driving and regain some control over the situation. Though a lot of that is invoulentary as well.

Growing up - 

Hyejin was born in Korea and moved to Toronto a short time afterward. Her father had moved from Korea for college and had met her mother upon his return to the country. Due to some financial trouble and an amazing job offer, her parents moved the three of them across the world. 

She was given a younger brother two years later and a little sister three years after that. Her life was exceptonally ordinary, which she is thankful for. She went to public school and made a small group of friends, she got good grades, and she played for her school's volleyball team as well as being the drama club, acting in school sponsored musicals. 

Musical Passion - 

Growing up, she was always a little interested in singing, which wasn't lost on the rest of her family. She was gifted with a couple singing lessons when she was ten years old, but her family could only afford a few weeks. But the seed had been planted and she for the next few years sought out any chance she had to sing in front of people. Karaoke, school musicals, especially alone in her room. She had the benefit of the internet, so she spent a lot of time looking for music and practicing with things like youtube. 

K-Pop was always something she was aware of, as it's growing popularity was suddenly such a big part of Korean culture. She was a pretty casual K-Pop fan, learning some dances, but nothing crazy. Honestly, she didn't consider the idea of becoming an idol until she caught word that SM Entertainment would be traveling to Canada to conduct auditions. 

After all the forms, the name tags, the hours waiting in line, she managed to make it into an audition room and sing for the evaluators. Everything moved pretty fast after that. They liked her look, thought she was young enough (she was 13 at the time), thought her singing ability was already pretty good, and she could already speak Korean. She was offered a spot in their trainee line-up within the next two days and sponsered her to move from Canada back to Korea in a trainee dorm for training. 

For the most part, Korea has treated her well, and she is fortunate to have made good friends so she hasn't really ever been alone there. 

Selection - 

She as well as five other trainees were chosen as canidates and trained for a couple months together for this performance and audition. 

Her audition was nearly flawless, but her outfit got the better of her and she stumbled just a bit in her sneakers. She still pulled off her highnote, but she was incredibly embarrassed. 

Coming off the stage, she couldn't even believe there were tears running from her eyes, but her members helped her dry them and assured her she did fine. Much to her pleasent surprise, it was her name they called.

When it comes to the three Park siblings, Jaehun and Hyejin are the closest. It's mostly because the two of them are so similar. They are both practical, responsible and hard working. Jaehun is going to school for engineering and only has a year left before he graduates. He loves his sister and he supports her but he would be lying if he said he was completely confident in his sister's chances at being a successful idol, but he figures it's her life and she can do what she likes with it. 
The two video call quite often, and there isn't much about her time that he doesn't know. He is exremely happy and relieved that she was selected to debut.

Hyejin loves her little sister and finds herself in awe of her often. Hailey is outgoing, has a large social circle, and is extremely happy. She wants to go to school for fashion design and honestly with her grades, she could go to any school she wanted. 
The two of them are both just so busy that it's difficult to find time for the other. Hailey thinks it's admirable that her sister is still trying to hard and is hoping the best for her. She enjoys telling her friends that her older sister is an idol.

These two met when they were both 13 as they both joined SM Entertainment within a month of each other. The two of them immediately hit it off, finding solace in the fact that they were both starting out at the same place. The two of them have trained together through the whole 7 years, and the two of them competed together for the spot representing SM Entertainment in the new girl group. There is some tension between the girls at the moment as Hyejin was selected and Yeonjoo was left behind. It's bittersweet for Hyejin to debut without her best friend.

These girls met during their trainee days and connected because they were not only the same age, but Yerim is only ten days older than Hyejin. It wasn't the easiest for Hyejin as Yeri was selected to become a member of Red Velvet as Hyejin had been training longer, but since then, she has been extremely happy for her friend and for her success. The two talk occasionally and now see each other now that Hyejin is working.

what was their trainee life like? How long were they a trainee?

— Most trainees that travel from forgein countries have a tougher time because of the language barrior, but Hyejin didn't have that obstacle, which immediately set her apart from other trainees. That didn't mean it was all sunshine and rainbows though. She was immediately put into intensive vocal, dance, acting, and self-care training, her weight always being a constant struggle for her. She more than once was scolded during evaluations for not taking good enough care of herself. 

Her dance training was intense and always difficult. She played years of volleyball when she was in junior high, so she was already strong, but she had no control or technique which honestly was the longest part of her dance training. It was more than just doing the dance moves robtotically with no flair or power. She has gotten better of course, but will probably be one of the girls who takes longer to get ahold of a dance. 

Vocals was where she really shined. The science of it, the muscle control, the breathing, everything needed to be a great singer she understood. She feels unmmatched in terms of vocal ability among her other group members and trainees. 

4 years into her training, she was selected and promoted as an SM Rookie but obviously never debuted, which confused the fans who keep close eyes on things like that. 

"Where is Hyejin? Shouldn't she have debuted by now?" 

She has worked hard for 7 years and considers herself well rounded but with tons of room for improvement.

She was floored to find out that she was selected. Her eyes opened wide and she had to fight the urge to drop her jaw. She had made a pretty obvious mistake and was floored that the judges overlooked it and still selected her. She pretty much spent that moment moving around in a haze as she was so shocked and so happy. 

Finding out that her teammates had all tossed their votes to her was what made her emotional because she didn't want to leave them behind. She had spent the last few months practicing for this performance and evaluation and was really honored to be the trainee representing SM. One of the big three.

Emotional/Heartfelt: Dongheon is a very attatched person and people in his life that he ends up caring for, he will go out of his was to show it. He cares about his friends and fellow trainees and he isn't afraid to show it. He's encouraging and he really lives life with his heart on his sleeve. 

Awkward: He is about as awkward as they come. The way he says things or delievers lines can be a little bit out of left field, they might not be relevent to the conversation, or sometimes he just trips over what he was trying to say. When he's not dancing, the grace he usually has can kind of melt away and he can kind of hobble. Though he doesn't see his awkwardness as a weakness, which is makes it all the more attractive to Hyejin than off putting. Endearing even. 

Positive: He is a secret optimist. He is a person who tries to find the silver linings in everything, especially the hard things. He is goo at not only picking up others when they fall, but he is also good at bouncing back and lifting himself up too. He is good at self motivation. 

Robotic: Sometimes he can come across as a little bit cold. He is quieter than some other idols and he default expression is blank, so sometimes he seems really roboctic or disconnected. He doesn't always have a smile on his face and when he does actually get angry, he doesn't confront, he backs off and gets quiet. 

Stoic: That being said, his blank demeanour doesn't mean that he's angry or upset. It can also mean that he's just perfectly calm and content. Hyejin is known to have trouble telling the difference sometimes. He's just incredibly stoic, especially around girls. He can sometimes get embarrassed. 

Oblivious: And that stoicness can lead into him being completely oblivious. Sometimes, he's more tactless than he'd life to admit. He can miss the subtext or nuonces of a conversation or he can miss the whole point entierly. He can miss the sublties or not understand the meaning beind gestures and glances. That being said, he takes it like a champ.

lovestory. 

— The two of them met where all trainees meet, at the company building. It was evaluation day for Hyejiin and she caught sight of a couple new trainees beforehand. 

She had already been training four years at that point that that evalutation pushed her forward and earned her spot in SM Rookies. It wasn't long before the new arrivals got accuainted with the existing hoard who showed up to train everyday. 

Most love stories or tales of how people got together that Hyejin is aware of always tell of the hard part at the beginning. Maybe they were just awkward around each other or maybe they didn't like each other. Maybe those people were being pitted against each other somehow. But for Hyejin, none of those things were true. 

She met Dongheon after his first week and their story is full of ease and comfortability. They hit it off really quick, no tension, no competition, just a simple friendship. 

Years passed and both of them pretty much knew they had feelings for each other, though they never talked about it directly. For the two of them, they never had any toruble communicating. At the time, they both understood that their careers were the priority and with rules around dating, they knew they would have to wait if anything were to happen. And neither of them were in a rush. They were both young and didn't feel the need to push the issue. They were also both comfortable where they were in their friendship. There just wasn't any pressure to be anything more than that.

Things feel a little different in the present even though Hyejin is finally debuting. They are older and their windows for official debut are starting to close. Hyejin knows how lucky she is and is thankful for the opportunity, but she is also aware that the contract is only two years and she doesn't know where she is going to land in terms of her career. For Dongheon, he is scared about the prospect of not debuting, but he is also starting to get more serious about his feelings for Hyejin. 

He is interested in a relationship with her as adults. They've known each other a long time and he feels like they owe it to each other to see if it can work. Though the two of them have talked about it, Hyejin hasn't decided anything yet. She wants this group to work and to gain success, but she is also worried about what she has to sacrifice to get it. Like maybe the love of her life.
