Hi, hello, this is a rant about kpop fandoms. 

I watched this video on youtube called "roasting your fandom" or smth like that. It was fine, it was in good fun - I don't care. Shinee World wasn't mentioned per se, which is honestly what this entire rant is about. 

Not that Shinee World wasn't mentioned because I don't care, I bet there are a lot of things wrong with Shinee World (I've heard plenty of after Jonghyun's passing, bless him), but the fact that they (we) were lumped together with literally every other fandom in "2nd gen fandom". Because there is no such thing. 

I KNOW that there are annoying fans out there of older groups, who speak of "the good old days" and who is (I haven't seen it personally but I keep far far far away from stan twitter) hating younger groups. 

But I am tired of the generalization. I am even more tired of the stupid arguments/comments about how "X 3rd gen GROUP will never lose its popularity because their fans will grow with them and stay but 2nd gen groups are completely irrelevant and fans of those just have to accept it." 

DUDE, you're literally saying exactly the same thing 2nd gen fandoms are trying to say ; "We love our groups and we do not want to let them fade into obscurity because we're still here". 

And nobody likes being told their faves, groups they fell in love with, groups who helped them grow, are irrelevant because they have been in the industry for longer. It's like - why do you think you can say such things and not expect people to argue back?

It's the same argument that people use ; "I only said your group was a flop, but then you retaliated and now I'm the victim, look at what YOU did!"

Stop trying to demonize groups or their fandoms in generalizations.

If you have trouble with a fandom, name them. N A M E  T H E M like you would any other 3rd gen fandom or 4th gen fandom. 

I am sick of being a "2nd gen fan", a "boomer of the kpop industry" and "apparently hating on all the new groups" just because I got into kpop before EXO and BTS. 

And yes, this is a rant. I am old. But internet arguments are ridiculous sometimes and I get tired too.

If you have a balcony or a private backyard, go there for a couple of minutes to hours a day. If not, remember to open your windows and air out your home. This virus is not airborne. <3
