Im Chaeyeon gives out a vibe of a sister that everyone needs – she possesses a motherly warmth with an edge of a naughty sister. Chaeyeon is loyal to her comrades. She will stick up by your side in times where you would need support the most. Of course, reciprocity is a must for her; if you never was on her side when she needed it, she'll base her loyalty on yours. Chaeyeon is also very matured. She has always made decisions for herself; and learnt on taking responsibility of the choices that she made. Those experiences made her more matured and more wary of her words, her actions and her choices. She is also very hardworking. She handles pressure by working harder each day and trying her best to challenge her limits. Whenever she was aware of what she lacks, she would do her best to improve herself on that matter. Chaeyeon is also very caring. She's a good listener and would try her best to share warmth with you when you need it the most – and she takes pride of it. At first sight, Chaeyeon may look like she doesn't care about others; being not one of those who's very expressive of themselves— but she's actually very kind. Sure, she may be a little bit blunt and brutally honest, but at the end of the day, she just wants the best for you. Chaeyeon is also very funny. Chaeyeon knows how to tailor her jokes to who she's talking to; she may be a woman of few words – but when she did make a joke, you won't forget about it for a few days. Chaeyeon is also very playful. She knows how to joke around and pull innocent pranks that would not hurt anyone, physically or mentally. She's also good at flirting playfully. She works hard for her passion; and would not let anything stop her from getting what she wants. No one can read what's on her mind or what she will do next – but well, that all comes with being a Scorpio, right? Another Scorpio thing about Chaeyeon is her sensuality. Some might find Chaeyeon to be distant; but she always has the best intention towards those she loves. Chaeyeon has a selfless heart. However, she goes on the extra mile to help others where some people took advantage of her. She spends her money to those who need help; only to have those people turn their backs against her. This brings us to our next point; pushover. She's not good at rejecting people. So, when someone asks her for help, she would always say, 'yes'. This makes her more prone to be bullied for her being naive. Chaeyeon might be the girl to shrug everything off under the rug but she's actually very sensitive. She cries a lot and is easily offended. The worse thing is that she couldn't speak her mind due to being timid, so, most often than not, she struggles alone with her feelings. While being mindful of everything is good, Chaeyeon is a massive overthinker. She spends a lot of her time; thinking about possible outcomes and whether something she did offended anyone. She tries to ensure that everyone is happy; even if it makes her restless and unhappy.

Background.

Chaeyeon has been blessed since young – she was born in an upper class family in Incheon by her father, who owns an engineering company and her mother, a successful cafe owner. Everything is pretty much a breeze all of her life; she was equipped with the best teachers in town, her musical talent was polished since she was young; well, everything goes perfect for Chaeyeon. When Chaeyeon raised her dreams of being a performer, her parents support her endeavours.

Chaeyeon auditioned into Y.I Entertainment to become an idol – and she got in; for her talent, or probably, her visuals; or maybe because of her parents, who they know are capable of investing into the company. While Chaeyeon is happy that she gets to enjoy all the privilege, thanks to her parents; she doesn't know how much is her value, if her parents are out of the picture. Chaeyeon wants to prove to everyone that she's capable of making herself a name to be reckoned with because of herself, not because of her parents.

Personality.

Jaeyoung is a very lenient and cool guy. He's supportive and would always have Chaeyeon's back. He's also very kind and charitable. Nayeon, on the other hand, is more stern. While she's  also very supportive and laidback, she definitely pushes Chaeyeon to do better and be better. The extra push is really appreciated by Chaeyeon since it shows that she cares about how well she is doing.

 Relationship with character.

Chaeyeon are very close to her parents. Her father and her shares a close relationship; pretty much like how a father would usually be. Her father doesn't exactly knows all the details that are going in with Chaeyeon's life; which is due to Chaeyoung being more reserved and he respects it. However, he will always support her choices in life and would always got her back. In terms of personality, Jaeyoung and Chaeyeon are pretty much similar.

Nayeon is pretty much Chaeyeon's personal trainer. She's always making sure that Chaeyeon stays on top of her game. She pushes Chaeyeon to train harder, she puts Chaeyeon on diets when she thinks her daughter has been gaining some weight. All in all, mother knows best and when you have a mother with clear vision and strong will, she'll do whatever it takes for you to be successful.

Personality.

Contrary to the y, sensual concept of Girl's Day, Yura is actually very cheerful and vibrant. Yura is friendly, yet not unnecessarily loud. She gives off a cold vibe – mostly, due to her appearance, but she's actually very funny. She's also creative and is very good at visual arts. 

Relationship with character.

Yura and Chaeyeon are very close. Yura and Chaeyeon shares a lot of similarity – being scrutinized as merely an "idol rapper", having a cold appearance but is actually very warm, they even share the same humour; an odd one. While Yura and Chaeyeon don't meet up as often as other bestfriends do, they really love each other and will always support each other's endeavour.

Personality.

Iseul and Chaeyeon are like the two ends of the world. While Iseul is more open and cheerful, Chaeyeon is more reserved and chill. She is creative and sociable; the epitome of the word, 'fun'.

Relationship with character.

While Iseul and Chaeyeon share a lot of similarities, they aren't the closest of the bunch. They share the same age, both are songwriters, both are fierce and strong; but perhaps, the similarities are the ones that drive them apart. Chaeyeon hated being compared to Iseul — and while both have an extra edge in something that the other didn't, Chaeyeon didn't like how she always finds herself competing with Iseul for that spotlight. It's always a matter of whose lyrics are going to be accepted, or who's going to be the center for this song. While she is professional, she couldn't help but to be nauseated by the constant comparison; hence, avoiding being seen next to her in public.

She can talk to her in private, though — she has her good memories with her, as they have been friends for years; but they only have become really close when the girls came up with the idea of WISH. Nowadays, Iseul and Chaeyeon are closer than ever. Chaeyeon likes to think of Iseul as her spokesperson.

Personality.

Hana is quiet – which Chaeyeon really likes. She's smart, calculated; and definitely knows how to bring herself. There's an aura of wisdom, radiating around her; and she loves that. Even though she is not a woman of many words, Hana knows how to carry an interesting conversation, which perks the interests of those around her.

Relationship with character.

There's a sense of comfort between their relationship. Out of all the girls, Chaeyeon finds comfort in Hana. Perhaps, it's the similarity of those being chill and more into their own space. Chaeyeon finds herself sitting with Hana when they have to go on trips. Hana also knows how to carry a clever conversation – and whenever Chaeyeon seeks for advice, she'll go to the girl to seek for some words of wisdom.

Chaeyeon is an only child — she never experienced having siblings. So, the whole experience itself gives her the opportunity to gain new sisters and she's blessed for that. While she may have been distant with some, or perhaps, fought with the other some, she'll always believe that they are family. She'll always be there for Sowon when they need her.

Relationship with character.

Perhaps, the idol life seems glossy in the small screen. When Chaeyeon sees the girl groups on television, she think of pretty thoughts — sisters chasing the same dream. It feeds her energy; finally, she will not be alone. She will have sisters, who she never has before. She was looking forward for it — and the past few months were exciting to say the least. Everyone is nice — and while they're still not used to being in really close proximity with each other, they aren't distant or disliking each other. Nothing of that sort. They're all adapting themselves; and when Chaeyeon started really warming up towards the members, Yujin left the group.

It affected Chaeyeon a lot. Long gone the idea of sisterhood — she basically realizes that at the end of the day, they are just her co-workers. This created a barrier between Chaeyeon and Sowon members; as she's scared that if she fully opens up, they'll leave her. Chaeyeon did not stay in contact with Yujin.

Relationship with character.

Yuri and Chaeyeon have always been pretty close. The mistreated pact; as they would to call it. Yuri was pretty much Sowon's backing vocals. Her vocals are there; but she never gets center time or screen time. Contrary to Chaeyeon, she has her center time; but given how Sowon's early releases has no rapping part, she's always just there — as an ending fairy, as a center, but never as a rapper. 

They're the polar opposites — and while they want what each other has, they truly understand where the other is coming from. Perhaps, that's when the distance between Chaeyeon and Sowon became worse. When the fight broke up, she was mad at both of them — but she does not agree with Yuri being terminated. She believes that they should stick with her; what happened to being sisters?

Now, Yuri and Chaeyeon still talk to each other. She supports Chaeyeon's solo endeavours; Sowon? Not so much — but she respects Chaeyeon's decisions to stay with Sowon even after switching agencies. After all, Chaeyeon can only prove her musical abilities by having freedom in choosing her own music style and she can only do that by going to WISH.

Chaeyeon's relationship with Sowon became shaky after Yuri's dismissal. She was livid with the others — but as time passes, she believes that it's for the best. She didn't hold anything against the girls now — but she wished things were different back then. Their relationship was mended overtime; and trust was built — but they only got so much closer after WISH was formed.

Trainee and Idol Life.

Chaeyeon decided to be an idol after she saw a stage of BoA. Seeing how the woman and her music is loved by many, Chaeyeon decided to enter the industry. She wants her music to be recognized, just like her. Chaeyeon tried auditioning for a lot of companies; but ended up going to Y.I Entertainment after being accepted there in 2007. Trainee life was nothing prominent for her — in a way, Chaeyeon knew she wasn't spectacular in singing. She doesn't sound like a dying seal; but she knew there are thousands of singers who can sing better than her.

As a trainee, Chaeyeon specialized in dancing and rapping. Sure, she trained for singing as well; but Y.I made it clear that the chances of Chaeyeon debuting as a rapper is higher — just like other companies who put their English-speaking trainees to train in rapping. Chaeyeon's debut didn't really come to a shock to the trainers and trainees anyways. While Chaeyeon isn't exactly a memorable trainee for most of the trainees, she does fit the idol look perfectly. Plus, how hard is a few fast lines or random English phrases can be? 

As an idol, it isn't hard for Chaeyeon to garner attention. She's one of the designated "y" member of the group, as much as the general public allows (which means just showing some legs and some stomach); thanks to her mysterious aura and cold looks. She's one of the members who gets a lot of modelling gigs; and was not known for her music, at all. As a matter of fact, Chaeyeon was more famous as model Im Chaeyeon than she was as Sowon's Icy. 

They keep on promoting songs without parts where she can shine; the first two charted songs with her actually rapping is Shy Boy and Sunshine; and they are not even promoted. 2013 was her breakout year when they promoted with Dolls and Love Tension — which shows her musical ability. People are actually seeing the rapper Icy and not just a mere filler. 

As time flies, the company never really address her wishes to give her a solo; hence, why when her contract was up, she didn't mind terminating it with Y.I Entertainment. When the girls decided to build their own company, she instantly agreed with the idea. In 2016, before their Japanese promotion, Chaeyeon decided to release her self-written EP which is "Following". Her first solo was "Babe", promoted around late February until early March 2016. That was when people started acknowledging her as a good rapper; more than just a pretty face. 

"Babe" was the start for musician Chaeyeon. She felt good; she felt like she owns the stage. Seeing how everyone loves "Babe", Chaeyeon released "Pink Lady" in January 2017. Pink Lady marks the success of Icy. She won awards on music show with "Pink Lady" — but also received a lot of hate too. Sowon's fans didn't like Icy's new image; what was once a sophisticated, classy girl on stage turns wild and quirky on stage. Now that people start criticizing, Chaeyeon realizes that people are paying attention to her music now; which makes her feel good.
