well, i'm quite excited but then again...my findings...i don't know if it's what i'm expecting so....it's....awkward?

yeah....that's how i'd explain the title of this post...

before that....i've been looking at what contents to fill in my next compilation video after having done Jungjin's compilation for his screentime in mvs for his entire career up till now(though his current group will release new mvs soon enough in february)....should it be haseul(but her whole situation, group and fans frustrates me so damn much but i kinda want to fight my way for her? idk...), baron? my battle otp? siwan? gyuri? seunga? ryu? jungmin? janghyun? i find myself looking back into my past favourites in kpop...be it fav voices or fav members or for most part, they're both....that's how they become my favs

then while looking around my oldddd uploads....one caught my attention....

let me introduce the main character of today's post....Kang Daekyu

he first debuted in this group in 2007

but that's not how i first known him. it's through let's cokeplay Battle Shinhwa...the reality audition show where they seek for shinhwa's successor...which were handpicked by shinhwa members and ended up debuting as Battle in December 2006...our main character here was right there from the first batch and he made it all the way....until he was eliminated in final elimination before the finale....bummer right? considering others from early batch were already eliminated earlier or made it all the way to final and yet....he's soooooo close yet....sigh...

okay, fine...so at first i didn't know him...i didn't really watch Battle Shinhwa except for the final episode/concert....and naturally Daekyu was not in there since he's just eliminated....and i just watched for Battle....and my fav instantly became Janghyun(who's originally one of the winners, but he withdrew from the group before debut....and later on debuted with SunnyHill)....i just loooooveeee Janghyun's voice...so when he left Battle before debut...i was really sad but since i decided to support Battle....Hwichan who took over his place became my fav at that time(my fav changed to Ryu later on haa...i mean how can you not love such an awkward but bright and lovable leader...)....since they both have the vocals n voice i like...but when i started watching earlier episodes of battle shinhwa later on....besides Janghyun, this guy...Daekyu....caught my attention....there's just something interesting bout him....maybe it's his flamboyant colour choices or his voice, the way he carried himself....or combination of all? 

^ this is compilation of his singing parts on the show(2005)....he started out as the guy who had such bright image but always sing ballads....i really liked it when his song choices became more upbeat and matching with his style....the criticism in this show were really harsh though...i felt like the judges were only not harsh towards the popular ones regardless of actual quality....blehh...double standard much...

anyway....then Tachyon debuted and naturally i was curious....i didn't like their debut....so i just didn't check them out anymore until they're in Show Survival...a show where underrated singers of various genres/background(not just idolgroups) battle it out to get a spot on music core...while those topdogs get it all easy...bleh....i mainly watched this show for Storm(a girlgroup i loooooovvvveeeed), Sei(a female soloist i also loooooovvvvveeeeed)...even Kara was in this show for a short while...then there's Tachyon....so they got into my radar again....just one thing bothering me....Daekyu was plainly their 2nd best vocalist in the group....and they let him be the rapper....while a weaker vocals doing the singing part...hmm...

anyway...

^ this video also had Storm....but you can skip to Tachyon's part halfway in....i wouldn't skip them if i were you...but that's cuz i looooveee Storm...i really think in these perfs...the main vocals of both groups did really well....i'm usually not a fan of main vocalists....but with Storm, Jungmin is my fav...n with Tachyon...well, you already know who's my fav lol...

^ Daekyu executed fierce like nobody's business omg....the leader looked so painful in his attempt to be fierce though...i actually felt bad for poor guy...

later on after the leader left the group....they carried on with two members before the maknae too left for new group since they're left in nothingness....

here's a perf when there were only two of them left....see, he's still as good as ever doing ballad even if he didn't get to sing much anymore...

^ he's the one with lesser singing parts (just realized his parts weren't thaaaat little to be distinguished that way, even though it's still fairly shorter than the other member) darker hair here...but do i love his voice n singing...Daekyu your voice is beautiful!

Anyway end of intro....so....my curiosity of what he's up to piqued again...many years ago i already tried to look for his traces of existence...since Hojun already succeed as an actor and Junggyun redebuted in another group....only Daekyu went mia...no update....that made me sad....his talents didn't deserve that...

i expected to find nothing again....but this time....omg....i was....thrown for a surprise....i found that he's now going solo by stage name '아담' or 'Adam'...he's been around since 2017....and has had quite a few singles released....and he composed, wrote, arranged and produced all of his music...so now he's like...an underground/indie musician...how cool is that...totally all self made....but the only thing that kinda bummed me is that his music just don't resonate with me....he's straight up one of those rap/hiphop guy....(to think he used to sing ballad all the time back then lol)....and idk....i'm just not into those....and his voice kinda sound diff now....but if he sings he probly would sound more like the daekyu i'm more familiar with....but since i'm sure this is what he likes....since he really makes his own music and all instead of going mainstream route....and i've tried some of his songs on Korean sites(since i couldn't find any elsewhere except for a couple songs on yt)....and his songs definitely don't sound like....'kpop hiphop'...yknow like those mainstream rappers....that sound more hmm....public friendly?....yeah his just sound.....ahh....idk.....can't i have some pop-ish tunes too? T^T...lol....

aaaahhh....it's just not the kinda music i can digest.....

still i'm happy to find traces of his existence....and to know he's doing what he likes, and he's proudly making his own stuffs...you do you daekyu!!!

it's nice to see his style is still as vibrant as ever...even if his music has changed....well...who knows now...this was in 2017....but even that brought some relief for me...to know what he's up to...
