shin hyunwook

by Suhyo07

appearance

face claim — Park Jinyoung (link to gallery

height — 178cm
weight — 63kg

Hyunwook likes to think of himself as a rather handsome young man, but then again beauty is subjective so he quite quickly dismissed the thought. His hair is brownish-black, but the brown only shows itself under appropriate lighting. He is slender, and has unnaturally pale skin that looks as if it has never seen the sunlight. Coupled with his dark red eyes, it may or may not be the cause of his Underworlder ancestry. Who knows. His lips are more often than not set in a smirk or a smile, but it can twist into a rather ugly frown when he's in a foul mood. Fyi, he has pretty fingers.

fashion style

Hyunwook's colour palette usually consists of black, white, gray, navy blue, and the occassional dark colours. He selects clothing for their practicality and comfort more than anything else, but occassionally dresses up just for the sake of it. During days when he has class, he wears a T-shirt and either sweaters in winter or a plaid shirt on top during warmer days. His pants are usually demin and tight, showing off his long legs. He also wears trench coats during winter, and scarves as well. Hyunwook is also never seen without his signature black combat boots.

When he's back at Diamantes, his outfit is pretty much the same because he doesn't really bother with his clothes. The boots may be swapped for trainers occassionally, but he generally doesn't take them off except when he's sleeping. He also wears warmer clothes and puts on more layers just in case there's a sudden mission. And that's the same for missions, except maybe adjustments according to the weather.

Hyunwook's love for flair could be seen in his accessories however. He usually likes wearing chokers, maybe sometimes ribbons depending on his mood. Oh, because he has short-sight, he usually wears round-framed glasses, but switches to contact lenses when he's back at Diamantes.

personality

positive traits: determined, confident, friendly, wise, helpful

neutral traits: cheeky, playful, sarcastic, daring, unpredictable, dramatic

negative traits: irritable, hot-tempered, impatient, rebellious, carefree

Hyunwook is an odd individual, and his emotions aren't really stable some of the time. He suffers from mood swings, and is generally unpredictable.

Most of the time though, he's actually a pretty nice person (coughs). He is friendly to everyone, and doesn't really discriminate. Hyunwook likes socialising on a whole, and helps out when people are in need. This applies to both his time at university and in Wonderland. Since he usually helps Alice out with their leader-ing and looks at the emotional aspect of things more as compared to the Mad Hatter, someone made him the unofficial second-in-command of the group along with the Mad Hatter.

Hyunwook mostly doesn't care, however. He isn't in for the leadership role, and generally hates responsibility. Sure, he can give Alice advice and help out around in the group, but when someone turns to him to fill in the leader role, he would immediately back off. Hyunwook is like the wise uncle of the group, and prefers to stay this way unless a dire situation surfaces. Then he'll gladly take charge.

He's also very confident. All insecure issues in his childhood disappeared after he entered university, and with confidence came determination and his friendliness. Hyunwook is determined, and strives to get whatever he needs/be the best to the best of his abilities. He will stop and reflect when needed, though.

Hyunwook is also very sarcastic. The filter between his brain and mouth is mostly switched off, and as a result he tends to sass the pants off the people in his inner circle. Hyunwook without his sarcasm and sass is not normal, and should be taken note of when it happens. He's also very daring, and is willing to try anything. Unless it involves heights. In which case he'll just retreat and not show himself.

Unfortunately, he is very irritable, and snaps easily, especially when he's in a bad mood. Generally, he gets snappy when someone cuts him off or is just plain annoying. He tries to hide this around most of the population, and shows this with his close friends, but sometimes during his moods this shows itself as well.

He's also hot-tempered and impatient, which is one of the reasons he doesn't trust himself with being a leader. Again, this shows itself the most during the times he's with his inner circle, but Hyunwook gets annoyed easily when team-work is required. He tries his best to hide it though.

Hyunwook generally doesn't care for rules either, except those of Carroll, Alice, and maybe his Branch Head. He's quite rebellious, and does whatever he believes is best instead of obeying orders. Which could be good sometimes, but he always gets told off for it in the end.

background

Being born to a family where encounters with the Unseelie are a normal occurence, Hyunwook knows of the Sight and the Underworld since a young age, and thought it to be something normal and ordinary, until one of his friends looked at him weirdly when he points out a faery lurking in the bushes at school.

His childhood is generally uneventful, with both his parents teaching him about the Sight and Underworld. They told him about his ancestry and roots, and that 'all the stories are true'. His parents were loving and cared about their children a lot, and generally didn't judge, until Hyunwook was seen conversing with a faery from the Seelie Court.

Instantly, his parents became closed-off and a little distant, mostly because they believed that their children should know better (it was drilled into their heads that the Seelie are natural enemies). But then again Hyunwook is a rebellious kid, so there's that. However, with this encounter, Hyunwook also realised that not everything said about the Underworlders were true, and his curiousity began to make him explore more about the Underworld without informing his parents.

After graduating middle school, a fight of some kind and the brewing war in the Unseelie Court forced his father back, and his mother decided to make the decision to move the entire family to China, where her family was. Hyunwook became somewhat miserable and started to have insecurity issues, mainly because he was part Korean and the Chinese kids started judging him. He also picked up hapkido, because his older brother had decided to stay in Korea for university and only he could protect his younger sister.

It was also around this period that his mother started teaching him how to use his Unseelie abilities. Hyunwook was generally obedient and learnt a lot, but he also explored a lot of magic by himself. Maybe it was because of the age difference, but his mother started to fawn on him more instead of his sister, and he felt guity because of that.

At sixteen, he witnessed his first rogue Underworlder, and realised how dangerous the Underworld really was. Hyunwook was picking up his little sister, and was suddenly attacked by a vampire, which he managed to take down due to his training. He was seen by a CARDS agent, who was impressed and decided to recruit the boy.

His mother strongly opposed against the idea, being more Underworlder than he is. She told him she'd seen the cruelty of CARDS and their prejudice towards Underworlders, and feared her son would become part of them as well. Hyunwook reassured her it would never happen, but his mother didn't listen and forbid him from training again.

The relations between mother and son became even more tense when Eunyeon took up training instead of her brother, and Hyunwook was left neglected. He also decided to study literature and history in university, which greatly angered his mother. They had a big fight over that, and in the end his mother grudgingly agreed to let him study those subjects only if he managed to get himself into either Tsinghua or Peking University, which were basically equivalents of Cambridge and Oxford.

And somehow, Hyunwook did manage to get himself a place in Tsinghua. Having no choice, his mother reluctantly let him go, and he took up training Diamantes in Beijing besides being a student. He began his life as a Player as well, miraclously balancing both his lives.

And then suddenly, he was chosen by Carroll to be one of the members of Wonderland, the hand-picked elite squard of CARDS.

family

mother — Huang Lian // 53 // part-time university lecturer // independent, caring, strict // Half-Unseelie // Lian is a very strong-willed woman, as seen from her immediate resolution to move her entire family to China after her husband disappeared back into the ranks of the Unseelie. She didn't keep any secrets from her children, teaching them about the Sight and Underworld from a young age. However, like the majority of Underworlders, she has an immense fear and hatred of CARDS, and did her best to forbid her son from joining their ranks, though he eventually did. Lian loves her children very much, and does what she believes is best for them, but sometimes her judgement may be wrong and she's willing to accept that.

father — Shin Jongki // 50 (when he disappeared) // university professor/Unseelie knight // distant, strict, caring // 3/4 Unseelie // Being a very busy individual, Jongki does not spend much time with his family, and so is rather distant. He loves his children very much nonetheless, and did his best to protect them with his wife. Unfortunately, the eruption of yet another Unseelie-Seelie conflict called him back permanently, and thus he's forced to leave.

older brother — Shin Hoseok // 25 // dancer/university student // encouraging, helpful, smart // 1/4 Unseelie // Even before his father disappeared, Hoseok had acted as the stand-in father figure for his younger siblings, protecting and teaching them to the best of his abilities. He also taught Hyunwook how to fight his own battles just before he was carted off to China, in order to protect Eunyeon. Despite being less Unseelie than his younger siblings, Hoseok had full knowledge of the Underworld and understood even more about the general situation. He decided to remain neutral and not get himself into this mess however, and is currently studying at a performing arts university in South Korea.

younger sister — Shin Eunyeon // 17 // high-school student // cheerful, hardworking, obedient // 3/4 Unseelie // Despite being the most Unseelie out of the three, Eunyeon doesn't resemble your typical Unseelie, and doesn't really care about the Underworld either. Nonetheless, she willingly accepted training from her mother, and showed far more promise than her brother, but kept it to herself. Both Hyunwook and Hoseok adore her, and tries their best to protect her, even though now she's fully capable of doing it herself.

older cousin — Shin Jineul // 23 // fashion designer // brash, sarcastic, confident // Half-vampire // relationship with your character

friends

best friend — Yoo Youngjae // age // occupation // personality // species // relationship with your character

roommate — Zhu Zhengting // 21 // student at Tsinghua // patient, smart, gentle // human // Being Hyunwook's roommate is not an easy task, what with having the need to put up with his personality and his cat. Thank goodness that Zhengting doesn't really mind, and is generally a good sport about it. The only thing he's curious about is why Hyunwook keeps disappearing during the term, and comes back usually in a bad mood. They're good friends though, and with Zhengting being smarter than him and Hyunwook sometimes missing classes, he often turns to his roommate for study advice or with questions. Zhengting's also the only one who can wake Hyunwook up in the morning without being murdered, but he still has to dodge quite a few pillows thrown his way.

relation — Name // age // occupation // personality // species // relationship with your character

others

pet cat — Persephone // 2 // cat // haughty, mischevous, easily irritated // Also known as the spoiled princess of the Shin household. He fell in love with the Siberian cat while accompanying Eunyeon to the pet shelter, and brought her home, much to the dismay of his mother who's unfortunately allergic. Persephone doesn't really give a to anything, and likes to plant her wherever she likes, but especially his lap. She scratches and hisses at anyone who touches her without consent, except for Hyunwook and occassionally Eunyeon. He tried bringing her to Diamantes, where she immediately wrecked harvoc, so for now Zhengting's stuck with her in the dorm. Thank goodness the poor boy isn't allergic.

leader — Alice // age // species // personality // relationship with your character

cheshire cat

— character quote

magician — Being half Unseelie and his mother teaching him Unseelie magic from a young age, as well as his curiousity causing him to explore more abilities which he could push to further limits, Hyunwook was in his element with this position. He's also a natural with magic, so he has virtually no problem with this position. Oh, he also gets to threaten to curse people just for the sake of it, but it's just that. Threats. (For the moment, at least)

player — Hyunwook joined CARDS when he started university, around the age of 18, which was considered a young age for someone with skills like his. And of course, during the time he was in Diamantes, he had trained and improved his skills. By now, his combat abilities are probably on par with that of a General's, and the only reason no one has made him one yet is because the boy never listens to commands (much) on the field. Though Hyunwook doesn't really care because being a General just means having more responsibility, which he is trying his hardest to avoid, so really, this arrangement is just perfectly fine for him.

diamantes — Diamantes is like his second home, along with his dorm at Tsinghua. Hyunwook stays there whenever he has a mission, as well as whenever his Branch Head calls him back for whatever reason. Since he's a heavy sleeper, the first and foremost thing he makes sure of is the room's comfort. His bed basically is hidden under a mountain of pillows, which he could just easily jump onto. The walls of his room are a midnight blue, though Hyunwook changes them whenever he wants. It usually remains that way though. There are a few wall handles where he places his weapons on, as well as a few shelves of books in case he needs to catch up with schoolwork. There's a desk beside the bed, the perfect position for him to just collapse onto his sheets when he needs to. Hyunwook usually has a laptop there, and maybe some stack of notes that he always misplaces. There's a mini-fridge stowed somewhere, along with a snack stash. Just in case. In his wardrobe, there are a few sets of his normal clothes, though it mostly consists of his combat outfits and stuff like extra boots or arm guards. You know, just the usual.

weaponry — Hyunwook doesn't really need any weapons, to be honest, what with his already available arsenal of magical abilities. However, he does carry with himself a bow and arrows, mostly because he likes to trick people into believing that he can only use them. The arrows are a variety of everything, ranging from normal wooden ones to ones that could explode on impact. He's currently working with the Science Department to develop more. With his abilities, he would never run out either. Hyunwook also hides blades on his person, generally daggers, and uses them in combat as well.

For his magic, Hyunwook also has a staff, which is basically in the shape of a bardiche. He can conjure this from thin air and let it vanish into thin air as well. The handle is blade-proof, and he uses it to either shoot stuff or defend himself. On dire situations, he could also use his boyfriend's war scythe.

fighting style — Hyunwook generally prefers fighting long-range. He uses his bow and arrows to take down enemies from a distance, and throws his daggers if needed. As for his abilities, he prefers shooting enemies down from a hidden place somewhere as well, and provides cover for his teammates instead of charging straight into battle.

However, when needed, Hyunwook will fight close-range. He likes to slash at his opponents with his daggers, stabbing them straight into the chinks of their armour, so as to say. He'll also blast his magic into his enemies' faces. He's not at all that great at it however, but knew enough to defend himself.

As for his bardiche, he can slash and jab with it, but it mostly acts as a medium for his magical abilities, and he likes aiming it at someone and shooting stuff out of it. He doesn't really use it most of the time though, except when he just wants to use it for magic.

However, he's terrible at hand-to-hand combat, and is basically useless without his magic and weaponry.

abilities — Having both parents of Underworlder ancestry, Hyunwook received quite some powers. He inherited powers of ice from his mother, and powers of dark magic from his father. Because he had training from his mother at a young age, Hyunwook is more familiar with his ice powers. He can turn anything to ice with a touch (when he wills it), and cast spells to freeze stuff or freeze his enemies. Apparently he could also control the weather, but he'd never tried that.

As for his powers of dark magic, these improved rapidly after he recieved training from the Trainers at CARDS. Hyunwook could cast illusions, summon stuff from Hell, and do awesome stuff. He can also shoot hellfire, which burns pretty badly.

equipment — Hyunwook wouldn't be seen strutting into battle without his trademark bow and arrows, as well as a few knives strapped to his body in open view, and some concealed. He normally wears leather pants to battle, because it's 'cool'. Hopefully it's practical as well. His bow is strung across his back, while his quiver is strapped to his belt so it's easier to have access to during battle. For his knives, he has sheaths strapped to his thigh, two each in open view, while there are probably four more hidden in his clothing. He normally doesn't bring supplies because he likes to finish things fast, but if he's informed beforehand, he'll bring a bottle of water and iodine with him. That way, he won't die of thirst, and if he runs out, he can drink pond water after purifying them.

For his clothing, Hyunwook wears a shirt, then a hoodie-like jacket on top. For his pants, he wears leather ones, with combat boots which are comfortable for moving around. He wears an arm guard for archery, with gloves and a silver ring which may or may not be connected to his bardiche. He also wears a necklace for good luck sometimes.

strengths — Hyunwook is a sharp-shooter, and was trained as one. He has excellent eyesight, and can hit targets from a very far distance. His skills are mostly focused on his magic however, and Hyunwook does have very powerful magic, what with having Unseelie parents. He has General-class abilities, and can control them very skilfully and doesn't lose control very often. He can defend himself well, and is generally a very good fighter.

weaknesses — He's terrible at hand-to-hand combat. Because he wasn't really trained in channeling magic into his bare hands, when he's disarmed, Hyunwook's basically done for. His abilities are stronger using his bardiche, and he tries to keep it with himself all times, but it doesn't really turn out that way. He's also easily distracted, and his impatience and temper can carry him away extremely easy. Being so possessive, when his boyfriend is in danger or is provoked, Hyunwook loses focus very easily and could snap. When he's angry though, it doesn't mean his abilities' strength would improve. Rather, it just means he has less control over his abilities.

jung daehyun

other names here

nickname, Dae A common nickname used by most of his friends and close ones around him.
nickname, daehie Pronounced dae-he. Somehow Hyunwook managed to come up with this 'cute' nickname for him and no one knows how or why.
nickname, gen — A shortened form of his title, General. Normal people don't really dare use this nickname because out of respect and fear for the Generals in general (get it), but Daehyun doesn't really mind. He might get irritated sometimes, but on the whole he's cool with it.
nickname, idiot — What Hyunwook generally calls him because he claims he is an idiot (though maybe he's not). He'll forever be Hyunwook's idiot though, anyone who calls him that may or may not recieve a glare from possessive Hyunwook depending on his mood and the situation.

birthday — 28 June 1992
age 24

nationality — Korean
ethnicity Korean
species — Part Seelie. Someone in his family had Seelie blood, they passed the powers down, and here we are.

hometown Gwangju, South Korea
birthplace — Busan, South Korea

occupation barista/languages student at Seoul National University
codename — Grim Reaper

character quote — Hyunwook, wait, don't - , you just did it.

personality — Daehyun is calm most of the time. Being a General, he has to, as he is usually seen to take on a leadership role. On the battlefield, he analyzes the situation before making decisions, and observes quietly. Daehyun also is able to keep his cool, and is in charge of restraining the younger members of the team (*coughs* Hyunwook *chokes*). Generally, he is a very friendly individual, and is more openly helpful than his boyfriend, who tends to do things in a roundabout way. Daehyun is nice to everyone and anyone, and maintains that way until someone crosses the line or betrays him. Then things turn ugly.

He's also very charismatic, giving off an aura of authority that marks him as maybe a leader of the group. Which was ironic, because he seems to be the second-in-command rather than Hyunwook. Daehyun is of course willing to step up to the role if needed, but he doesn't really want to, because he likes to be the support at the back and watches the others develop.

He's quiet around most of the population, and very polite. However, around his teammates and those he's close to, Daehyun lets loose sometimes. He makes jokes that no one finds funny, and because he's so nice, he sometimes gets teased and bullied by the others, which he doesn't mind but finds a bit irritating. He's like a mother trying to take care of her kids, but fails halfway through and just gives up.

Daehyun also doesn't really have a temper, but when someone makes him snap, it's generally terrifying, and even Hyunwook doesn't want to bear witness to the horrible tragedy that would befall that poor bastard. He is extremely quiet when provoked, and a dangerous aura seeps off him, and is probably three seconds from tearing out someone's throat in a very quick way, ten if they're lucky. Daehyun is mostly a nice person though, maybe awkward sometimes around his teammates (because he wants to crack the ice and show that he's not the charismatic silent General everyone takes him for), but you absolutely do not need to see his scary side.

appearance — Daehyun is handsome, and he knows it. Hyunwook knows it, for the matter, when he did a double take at the boy when he first saw him. He has hair dyed a light blond/brown (basically the picture), which he barely ever combs but still somehow managed to keep it styled. He has pale and fair skin, possibly because of his Seelie blood. Daehyun has a few ear piercings, and wanted to get his lips pierced as well, which Hyunwook put a stop to. His ears are slightly pointed, and only noticed if one pays careful attention.

gallery — Jung Daehyun (link)

fashion style — Leather, denim, plaid. That's the usual combination, and he's rarely seen without at least one of the fabrics hanging on his slim frame. Daehyun always wears his leather jacket, no matter what weather it is, and it's so worn that Hyunwook offers to buy a new one for him, except he just brushed his boyfriend off saying 'You're broke, Hyunnie.' Of course Hyunwook is miffed, but what could he say?

His choice of pants is the same as Hyunwook's, and he always wears ones that shows off his legs. Daehyun's shoes alternate between Converse, combat boots, and knee-length boots that resemble riding boots, and somehow, it looks amazing on him.

He also loves wearing accessories, and they're usually chains or skull-themed. They aren't in excess - Daehyun has taste, thank you very much - and his combinations always makes him look like a biker or something, but somehow still very hot. Idk he's hot me.

Sometimes, if he's feeling up to it, Daehyun also wears eyeliner. It might sound ridiculous for a man to be wearing eyeliner, but when you have features like his, no one would complain, now, would they? If he's feeling up to it, he'll help Hyunwook with it as well, which Daehyun just claims it makes him look like a vixen.

Back in Headquarters, it's basically the same, except he wears less layers to make his clothing more practical. Instead of a somewhat bulky leather jacket, it'll just be a plaid jacket and maybe a denim one thrown on top. His makeup would be lighter as well, which Hyunwook claims it makes him look way younger than he's supposed to.

background  — Daehyun was born to his family in the summer of 1992, and he pretty much led a very normal life up until the moment he realise he has the Sight.

Despite his family having a member of the Seelie, or maybe someone who had married a Seelie faery, his parents were ignorant of the fact, and didn't know anything about the Underworld or the Sight. When he saw a Seelie faery at the park one day and told his parents, they told him it was just a fragment of his imagination and forget about it. He did, but it didn't stop him from encountering more members of the Underworld. Mostly harmless faeries from the Seelie Court, who was attracted to him because of his lineage, but otherwise nothing really harmful.

Timeskip to his third year in middle school. Daehyun was walking home when he saw someone talking to a Seelie faery. Delighted that someone could see them besides himself, he talked to the CARDS agent, who realised that this boy may have some potential and brought him back to the local agent, who decides to train Daehyun himself until he's old enough to go to the Branch in Beijing.

That is, until his mentor suffered a terrible death at the hands of a vampire. By the time he had rushed to the scene at sixteen, his mentor had already have her blood dry. Fueled with anger, Daehyun managed to kill the vampire single-handedly, and immediately recieved an invitation to Diamantes.

Before he went, however, his grandmother knew of the incident and pulled him aside to gift him something that has been handed down generations - the family's war scythe. His grandmother revealed that these powers are passed down generations, and generally skip generations, so it's not surprising to see the boy has these powers when his parents are oblivious to the fact. She taught him how to use it, and how to defend himself with it, and revealed there is so much more that he himself would have to discover.

At the age of twenty, he was made a General, and started attending an exchange program in Tsinghua, where he met Hyunwook.

white rabbit

— 'do your best at all situations. and if you can't, try your best. otherwise die trying.'

fighter — Despite his obvious magical abilities, Daehyun likes to call himself a general fighter rather than a magician, because he doesn't want to restrain his abilities to only magic. Daehyun can fight very well, thank you very much. Through the training of his mentor, he learnt to wield several weapons, and magic was discovered very late upon his training, so Daehyun generally calls himself a fighter.

general — Having received training at a young age and actually embracing the position instead of pushing it away like Hyunwook, Daehyun was deemed fit to be made a General at the age of twenty, and has held the position ever since. Because of his title, some are afraid of him, mostly respectful though, but yes, they were afraid of him and Daehyun didn't like it, so he tries to be friendly to everyone, which just scares them more. Hyunwook didn't give a about authority though, so Daehyun felt he could really be himself around him. Daehyun is also on the Council of Diamantes, a position which he is honoured to take, and is the Ninth of Diamonds.

diamantes Before joining that exchange program to Tsinghua, Daehyun seldom goes to Diamantes unless absolutely necessary, mostly because he's in Seoul all the time and it's annoying. He recieves any orders from his local Head, but that's basically it. Now, however, he often goes to Diamantes, and treats it like a second home besides his dorm as well. His room is coloured a dark purple, and is very neat and doesn't have many things inside, mostly because he's a General and doesn't need to go back as often. Besides the bare necessities of a bed and a wardrobe, he also has a few language books placed on his desk, and more often than not, a jacket thrown on top of his chair because he doesn't bother tidying that up. He also has a handle on his wall which he can slide his scythe into when he feels like it, and a few photographs of his family and friends placed here and there in case he ever dies in a mission.

weaponry — Before recieving the war scythe from his grandmother, Daehyun mostly trains with blades like katanas and daggers. He still uses those weapons, and keeps twin katanas strapped to his waist like a samurai would in battle. He doesn't hide as many knives on his person as Hyunwook does, only one to the side of his left thigh. For his scythe, because it was such a bother to lag it around with him whenever he heads to battle, Daehyun somehow found a way to Change it into a bracelet and wears that everywhere instead. He also carries twin revolvers, those these are often hidden under his jacket with the help of a thingy that straps the holsters to either side of his ribcage (I can't write help me - )

For his war scythe, it's a fearsome weapon shaped like a lunar scythe. It has a black handle wrapped in cloth, apparently made from wood from some sacred tree of the Seelie. Its blade is curved like a crescent moon, hence it being a lunar scythe. Daehyun takes his time polishing it to perfection after battle everytime, so it shines whenever he uses it, and often that shine is the last thing his enemies see before they die. There is also a skull at the top, where the blade and handle connects, which someone started a rumour about it being the skull of one of his unfortunate enemies. It was also this skull that has 'corrupted' the scythe and turned its powers to that akin of an Unseelie's instead of its original Seelie heritage, and has been there ever since he received it. Unseelie fey and demons, as well as warlocks and vampires are somehow unusually attracted to it, so it could be a source of dark power. Since Daehyun's famous for using the scythe, he's nicknamed the 'Grim Reaper', which he decided to adopt as his codename as well.

fighting style — Because of his weapons of choice, Daehyun is often chosen as a front-liner and he has long since accepted this role. Rarely does he ever use his war scythe, instead choosing to employ his twin katanas. Because his war scythe requires a lot of brute force and strength, dragging around an entire arsenal is a pain in the , and thus Daehyun uses it only when he's disarmed. Though Daehyun chooses to arm himself only with his war scythe when he's on simpler missions.

He mostly charges at the enemy and slashes at them, finding their weak points in a split second and targeting them instead of dragging the fight. As for his war scythe, he basically employs it in the same manner as his katanas, except he could charge it with magic. He's still figuring that out though. For his daggers and guns, he rarely uses them unless absolutely needed, and can fire many rounds in one second. Unlike Hyunwook however, he isn't trained as a sharp-shooter, and would only use them in self-defense. For his powers, he's still in the process of figuring them out so he doesn't use them much in battle.

abilities — The war scythe which was supposed to be a weapon of the Seelie, now turned Unseelie, is the basis of his magical powers. Through using the scythe, Daehyun has similar powers to his boyfriend, and could summon legions of the dead as well. This terrifies a lot of people, so he tries his best not to use it. Because he's not trained in magic like Hyunwook was, he could only practice a few spells, though Hyunwook is teaching him as well. When not using the scythe, Daehyun has Seelie powers as well, though they're nature-based and he's still struggling, but gradually being better. Once he conjured up flowers for Hyunwook, who laughed at him until he got strangled by vines. Then he stopped laughing, but Daehyun doesn't really use those powers. Apparently he could also heal someone, but he's figuring those out also. So far, he'd healed a few cuts and scratches, but nothing too big. He'll leave the healing business to their medic.

equipment — When marching into battle, he carries his entire arsenal unless he knows it will be a short mission. Then he only carries his war scythe and guns, and leaves the katanas at home. Daehyun also carries a length of rope with him which hangs from his belt. He carries a pouch with him at all times, in which there is a small flask of water and bullets. There's also bandages inside, and for some reason, a pocket watch.
