[  "one step at a time."  ]
full name / shin eunjin
other names /
shinji: used mainly by jinhong. it's a nickname that takes his surname and part of his given name smacked together.
bug whisperer: he soon gets this nickname after finishing training and officially joining the army. people call this with the literal meaning, as he tends to hold one-sided conversations with bugs/insects.
birthdate / (08.04.2000) (age 18)
home country / dalbyeol
race / beorc

languages /
► korean - native

appearance /
► Eunjin always keeps a neat appearance wherever he goes. While not the strongest, he's in shape due to how much physical effort his previous job required of him daily. He's not very imposing despite being on the taller side and has a mellow demeanour. His dark brown hair is left as is as it's pretty tame for the most part. He's a bit pale since he's used to spending his time indoors (and would always seek out shade as much as possible when outdoors).

fashion sense /
► Nothing flashy, of course. While his family didn't have much, they still had a strong belief in dressing well. While he has some colourful clothing pieces due to receiving them as birthday gifts, most of the clothes he owns are neutral colours as anything with vivid colours tend to be more expensive due to the rarity of the dye. When not wearing his uniform, it's common to see him wear a blouse tucked into his pants with a vest on top along with a pair of trousers and decent shoes. If he's feeling casual for the day, he would ditch the vest and just wear the tucked blouse by itself.

elaboration /
► [ polite, obedient, communicative, gentle ]
– "Eunjin," the training instructor called. The boy straightened himself out, transferring his full attention, "Yes, sir!" He slightly bows his head in acknowledgment. Ever since he was little, he had learned to treat and address others mindfully and with respect. Manners come naturally to him and there's humility in his words and actions. People may think he's being kind but to him, it's a no-brainer. There has been an emphasis in courtesy for his whole life.
– "Stay back for extra training," the trainer simply stated. Ah, as usual. Eunjin nodded, "Understood, sir." Right from the bat, he was never known as a promising soldier. While he isn't physically the weakest, he is definitely the most hesitant in combat. This earns him a spot on the list of recruits to push harder. Sure, it . But what can he do? Eunjin does as he is told and does what his higher-ups think is necessary. He isn't one to protest against what others say and goes along the rules.
– The training session is done, but not for Eunjin and a few others. "Pulled back again, huh?" A familiar voice asks. Eunjin whips around and slightly bows, "Yes, Kyumin, sir!" The older soldier smiles, "Having trouble with the footing again?" Eunjin sheepishly smiles back, "Yes, sir. You see.." While Eunjin finds it hard to talk to others while he's new to the environment, he's quite articulate once he warms up to others. When it comes to anything relating to work, he's concise with his words and delivers the message clearly.
– Eunjin finds himself being swept off his feet due to their poor placement, painfully landing in the dirt. He gets up and tries again, ever so gracious in his shortcomings. He's never the kind of person to be rash and has always had a cool temperament. Eunjin's more emotionally mature than the average person and naturally acts appropriately and with consideration. He's not quick to anger and often takes either a defensive or deescalating role in conflicts.

► [ attentive, timid, passive, envious ]
– Kyumin notes, "Keep in mind of your pivot foot, Eunjin." He nods absentmindedly as he's absorbed in observing the instructor's example. When given a task, Eunjin never fails to give his undivided attention. While he may not be the best student and may not pick some things up as quickly as others, he puts his time and effort into fully understanding. He's also quite attentive to people's needs and is ready to drop everything and lend a listening ear.
– He'd been engrossed by his footing that he hadn't realized Kyumin pulled another recruit over and had talked assuming Eunjin was still listening. Eunjin snapped out of his thoughts when somebody had walked right in front of him. "Alright," Kyumin began, "spar each other." Oh, no. Eunjin was not ready for this at all. It normally takes him much longer than he'd like to get used to things, especially something as new as combat. While he tries to be independent and force himself to accustom to things and people without the help of his friends, he just can't fight the unknown and unsure feeling in him from taking over and making himself shrink.
– The spar begins, but it ends just as quickly. All it took was a kick to topple him from his balance and a jab from the training lance to get him crumpling to the ground. Fits of malicious laughter burst nearby and Eunjin feels a surge of dread. They've got nothing to do but laugh at his inexperience, do they? It's not in Eunjin's nature to stand on his ground for himself and tends to let things off the hook too easily even when they're putting him at a disadvantage. Eunjin shoulders the burdens and just breezes by hoping it'll be over soon.
– Eunjin forces a smile as he lets himself sit up, remaining on the ground as the victor walked off to find another sparring partner. He was one of the gifted kids who stayed back to help those who lagged. His smile falters a bit. Maybe if he had a different upbringing or bailed out of the palace servant lifestyle sooner he'd be just as skilled and strong as the other guys. Eunjin developed a self-deprecating mindset as he grew up around those who were more fortunate. He has this growing desperation of proving himself to be bigger than someone who serves others and looks to validation to tell him that he's worth it. God, he waits for the day people can finally see him.

► [ naive, sentimental, inflexible, resourceful ]
– He lets out a big sigh before getting up, brushing the dirt off his pants. Eunjin calls it a day and starts walking towards the mess hall. After all this, I'll become a warrior worthy of her, he thinks. Eunjin has a large portion of his life walled in and focusing on manual work. He has yet to learn of the reality of human nature and has yet to realize how little he knows and sees. He's tricked into only seeing the glamorous surface of war, but soon, he'll be pulled in to finally see the carnage and find himself too deep into it. Eunjin has yet to realize that he'll either have to swim or drown.
– He makes it through the hall and quickly spots his friend Jinhong sitting at a table. He seats himself right beside the boy and heaves out another sigh on top of hundreds of other sighs of the day. Eunjin rambles freely, "Hope my mom and dad are doing okay without me." Jinhong grins, "Yeah? How about the new stable boy?" Eunjin smiles, "Yeah, I wonder about him too." It's obvious to other people that he's quite a softie. He holds emotional value in memories, people, and many more. He's the kind of person who stops where he's at and treasure every second and smile in fondness.
– He mutters to himself, "I wonder how Moonri's doing too.." Jinhong catches on and groans, "How many times do I need to tell you.." Eunjin grumbles, "That Moonri isn't worth my time and effort and all that hogwash." Obviously, Eunjin does not believe that statement whatsoever. On top of being naive, Eunjin tends to look the other way when something doesn't fit his ideal and continues to convince himself that his beliefs (delusions) are true. He's fallen to ideas rather than reality and it will take a lot for him to finally acknowledge the truth.
– Eunjin grabs a slice of bread and looks at it in dismay. He wants toast.. His eyes trail to the table candle in front. He shifts it in front of him and holds the bread above the small flame. Work smarter, not harder, as his parents taught him. He's had a fair share of moments in his life which required problem-solving skills. He doesn't give himself enough credit for this, but in a bind, Eunjin can really help out in seeking solutions. Jinhong gives an odd stare as his friend attempts to toast the bread. Eunjin protests, "If it works it's not stupid!" There's a short silence between them. Within the next moment, Jinhong grabs a slice of bread and pulls a nearby candle towards him, following after Eunjin.

background
► Eunjin was born in Dalbyeol to parents who served as palace servants. Eunjin grew up in the palace and started working as a servant once he was capable. His parents didn't have a lot, so they lived frugally and did their best making sure that their son would be ensured an education as he grew up. He didn't excel, nor did he fall behind either. He did his best, but his best resulted in average among his classmates.

Eunjin would go back to the palace and spend the rest of his day completing simpler tasks around the palace. He learned more and started doing important chores as he grew up and gained more experience. It was a life filled with formalities, manners, and serving others. Eunjin seldom had any encounters with the royal family besides throwing a polite smile to Prince Changkyun and perhaps holding a small conversation if time permitted. They never got close, though. He did have a friend about his age who worked at the royal gardens. Jinhong was good company whenever he had the spare time to kill.

But as Eunjin grew up throughout his teenage years, he couldn't help but eye the luxury and glory of the people he served. Many times he had served in grand balls, surrounded by people who freely enjoyed themselves and had all the things he and his family lacked. Eunjin had nothing to allow himself to rise up if he were to leave the palace, he was just stuck with bowing his head and focused on serving. He was sick of that word: serving. As much as he loved his parents, he feared he would end up just like them. Eunjin feared he would settle for less and live an unfulfilling life.

On a fated night, a girl of nobility caught his attention as he worked during a ball celebrating a Dalbyeol holiday. She roamed idly, struggling not to showcase her boredom as she absentmindedly watched people dance to the orchestration. She'd made her way beside Eunjin who had stood by in case anybody needed him of his service. The girl sighed, prompting him to stiffly ask if she needed anything. She wanted space, she said. So Eunjin directed her to the gardens and to his surprise was requested to accompany her as she walked around.

Her name was Ha Moonri, she was his age. While he was shy, she didn't seem to mind it and enjoyed his presence as she kept talking. Her gaze went beyond the palace walls, then urging Eunjin to follow her outside and see the rest of the kingdom in celebration. He was reluctant, of course. Though he didn't want to put a damper to her mood either. It's okay, she said. If anything happens, she'll take the blame and say she ran off while he had chased after her to return to safety. And so they snuck out. Eunjin, for the first time, saw the kingdom in a new light, both literally and figuratively. Lanterns illuminated the night and there was so much joy and laughter around. Naturally, he developed feelings for her.

After that, whenever Moonri visited the palace whether it was for another ball or a banquet, she'd snatch Eunjin up and make use of his company. This didn't go unnoticed by his friend Jinhong either, later being made fun of for falling in love so readily and easily. But Eunjin can't help but notice the other nobles who would be the perfect fit to be her suitor. How can he hope to amount to them? Eunjin was not proud of anything about himself, how could he hope that she'd ever like him? Still, he convinced himself that some miracle would happen. Though he'd deny it to anyone, he changed some aspects of himself to Moonri's liking. The interactions weren't natural anymore, calculated as to whether it was something she would like or not. But it didn't matter. She was all that mattered.

Word spread around the palace of Prince Changkyun's change of behaviour, and Eunjin felt like whatever he thought he knew of the prince had been shattered and thrown out. Then the king passed away, resulting in Prince Changkyun taking up the throne as the new king. Eunjin felt uneasy over the strange occurrences. Nonetheless, he carried on with his duties as a palace servant.

When King Changkyun announced his decree, many people seemed to rejoice. Anti-laguz and anti-branded sentiments were not unfamiliar subjects to Eunjin. He'd heard several stories of the horrors they've done in the past and even in recent times. Shortly after, Moonri was back at the palace to visit, though her father was in on how to contribute to the upcoming war this time. She fantasized about being with a man who would be decorated from the war. The glint in her eyes showed her awe. Who wouldn't want to marry a war hero?

It was an opportunity to take. Eunjin could give it a try and enlist himself into the army. Then he wouldn't have to condemn himself into a lifestyle of a palace servant like his own parents did. Maybe then he would stop feeling sorry for himself. So unfortunately, Eunjin falls for Moonri's glamourized and sheltered perception of war and chooses to enlist, no longer serving in the palace. His parents disapproved, even Jinhong had doubts, but Eunjin's mind was set. He'd contribute to the war and come back home honoured and finally be worthy to be at Moonri's side. He'll finally feel valid.

Little does he know that he's not ready for anything at all. He's training, but he quickly realizes how difficult it is to be up to standards and how even more difficult it will be to rise up the ranks. He's become quite the target for other recruits who get joy from his struggles as he fumbles about. Eunjin's thankful that he's got Jinhong with him and steels himself up so he can soon attain approval. Eunjin doesn't know that there's no possibility of being a war hero and smiling in pride and victory. There will be loss on all sides, no victory will ever lift a smile on anybody's faces. Perhaps Eunjin will prevail.. Perhaps Eunjin will lose himself.

relationships /

kwon jinhong
beorc / archer / ice
eunjin's childhood friend. these two grew up living within the palace walls, so jinhong is naturally the person that eunjin confides in the most. while eunjin is timid, jinhong is confident and assertive. it's quite normal to see jinhong lecturing eunjin whenever he gets into some sort of trouble for not being able to think clearly and stand his ground. jinhong is one of the few people eunjin can approach so easily without a care. eunjin knows that his friend will warmly welcome his presence and they'll talk about anything, whether it's a mishap in the kitchen that almost became disastrous or that new stable boy who's doing okay. days in the palace tend to be monotonous, so they're glad they have each other to talk to when there's nothing else to do.
jinhong left his position as one of the palace's gardeners and followed eunjin into the army despite his friend protesting. he can't change eunjin's mind, so he thought that he should at least be there when he'll inevitably struggle. besides, he can't tend to the royal garden like nothing's happening when he knows his best friend is out there possibly getting killed.
jinhong knows that this will be one hell of a long journey. he just wants to make sure that the both of them will come back home alive and well and resume their lives, but he soon realizes that this won't ever be the case. while he joined the army to keep his friend safe, what originally was detachment towards the people outside the capitol (due to being walled in by the palace) turns into compassion. jinhong's heart aims for a swift end to the war and will soon desire to work towards restoration. but, well, the war has yet to start.

yoon haena [ app ]
beorc / axe knight / ice
haena's a blessing that came in packing a punch, quite literally. they met at the training grounds while he was practicing close combat. jinhong was taking a break away from archery practice and was watching his friend yet again get beaten by other recruits. cue haena's entrance, swooping in to spar their batch. eunjin didn't know what to expect but that didn't matter because within the next five seconds, he was already sprawled all over the ground. "keep up, rookie!" rang in his mind before the girl walked off the find another sparring victim. jinhong finally helped him up, clearly impressed, "we gotta get as good as her so we can fight along with her! c'mon, don't get us lagged behind-" in which eunjin whined, "i'm doing my best, jinhong!!"
they sparred more after that. and sure, eunjin has been losing to her again and again, but haena's probably one of very few people who don't mind sparring with him repeatedly so he could improve (not counting the guys who spar with him to laugh at him after getting a faceful of dirt). he starts softening up after she chases off recruits and maybe even soldiers who tend to bully him. haena's warmly welcomed among eunjin and jinhong and the three are quite boisterous together. you have haena being the force of nature she is, there's jinhong who can be just as wild, and then there's eunjin hopping along with their antics.
haena joins in with jinhong on convinving eunjin that moonri is not worth his time and effort, but he insists that he knows what he's doing (he'll later come to realize that he didn't know what he was doing). he has a huge appreciation for haena and quickly sees her as a dear friend. he's unfortunately blind to her affection while he still hangs on to his notions of moonri. but soon, they come to confide in each other about their doubts on the war and help each other cope. eunjin, in a fleeting moment, finally realizes just how beautiful and unapologetically true she is to herself. she becomes such an unexpected but welcoming constant in his life.

ha moonri
beorc / anima
the girl eunjin has fallen hard for. while she's truly kind, moonri doesn't take eunjin as seriously as other boys. she knows fully well that he's infatuated over her and waves the bait just out of his reach. she likes him- or more of she likes the fact that he likes her. they enjoy each other's company but while eunjin is secretly sweating bullets trying to be the most likable guy to her, moonri's just relieving her boredom and having fun with her ego booster (aka eunjin). she's a fun-loving and carefree girl, letting her parents lead her to do whatever she needs to do as a noble lady. she takes her strides with grace and is a shining example of a lady and potential wife.
moonri's indirectly sent eunjin to war. eunjin told her his decision to enlist, exciting moonri and giving him her blessings. she doesn't understand that she basically got him to walk into devastation and believes that he'll either come back as the same eunjin or as a hero. but maybe when he comes back home after war, he won't see her the same anymore.
moonri is now found passing by the training grounds every once in a while, keeping an eye out for eunjin and giving him a wave from afar. she doesn't dare disrupt the army, so she seldom ever goes down there to talk to him. she makes sure they get to catch a glimpse of each other and she loves that sweet, shy smile he gives. even when eunjin doesn't see her often she has him fawning over her.

LIKES /
► lanterns: they were all around outside the kingdom when moonri showed him around. they're highly associated to her so he's really fond of them.
► meat: it's not everyday he gets to eat meat, especially when the good meat is served up to the royals and higher-ups.
► long travels: he gets to enjoy the scenery around him. eunjin never traveled as a child and makes sure to enjoy the sights in front of him.
► cloaks: he feels like a protagonist from a novel. the hoods that come with it are also like portable comfort zones.
► nighttime: he liked this part of the day as a servant as it meant he needn't worry about tasks until the next morning. he still likes it now as a soldier as it signifies a calmer part of the day.
► thunderstorms: the rumbling he feels from the thunder comforts him.

DISLIKES /
► cold baths/showers: yes, he's taken a lot of them throughout his life as a servant. no, he will never get used to it.
► confrontation: whether it's receiving or initiating it. he hates having to deal with conflict head on.
► strong perfume: he's had his fair share of sniffing what should be illegal amounts of perfume during banquets and balls.
► lying: what if it builds on and bites him back later on? he hates having to maintain lies and so wants to avoid lying in the first place.
► mice/rats: see, where he usually works in the palace, it is mainly a clean environment. coming across these rodents make his heart do multiple leaps and his soul astral project.
► night watch duty: he's never had to stay awake at the dead of the night. sure, he can appreciate the quiet but he just wants to sleep. there's also something to having to look out for danger in the first place that makes him uneasy.

HOBBIES /
► poetry: the one thing he thinks he's actually decent at. he tends to depict sceneries and social atmospheres.
► drawing: on the same notebook for his poems, he tends to doodle when he's stuck looking for words. he usually sketches what's in front of him.
► daydreaming: though it could count as a habit, eunjin has these really intricate worlds and scenarios in his head that he remembers and resumes when he has the time.
► roaming: he just lets himself wander around, as long as it's not trespassing, of course.

HABITS /
► he cleans as he goes.
► pursing his lips when frustrated.
► clasping his hands together when nervous.
► paces around when thinking.
► talking to bugs/insects (ex. "stop bothering me," "stay right there and you will be spared.")
► comparing himself to others (he knows he shouldn't but can't help it).

TRIVIA /
► has a leather notebook his parents gifted him. his poems and drawings are all put into it. as of now, half the pages have been used.
► really weak-hearted. it's easy to scare/startle him and he can't handle horror stories.
► well-practiced when it comes to ergonomics, generally. despite this, he had managed to get specifically his left knee to act weird probably after lifting some heavy stuff up and down the stairs (in which it cracks quite often like cracking a knuckle every time he flexes it).
► never drank before. he never really had the time nor the drive to get his hands on alcohol. spot eunjin coughing and tearing up if given a shot of strong alcohol for the first time, he'll most likely end up with some of it not completely going down the pipe.
► one of the best and most efficient cleaners in the army.
► also known for his hospitality. palace servant instincts, he credits.
► accustomed to smelling the foulest of garbage dumps. while others would gag at the smell, eunjin could take a deep breath in and out as if he's smelling a field of flowers.
► usually the one in the army who gets asked by others if he can switch tasks so that they can be let off from the chores (especially the dirtier ones). dishwashing? alright, he'll do it. handling the trash? no problem! cleaning somebody's puke up after a night of celebration? .. okay.
► actually has decent arm strength, which apparently may come as a surprise to others. as a male palace servant, he was one of the people who carried the heavier stuff to help out.
► it's easy to get him up from bed. once he wakes up, he can't go back to sleep.
► eunjin's really good with remembering names and faces. perhaps it's thanks to his memory being contantly tested due to needing to address fellow palace workers, nobles, and royalty correctly.
► he's a fast learner when it comes to procedures and learning the ins and outs of a system.
► has a good sense of direction.
► knows how to sew. his family can't afford to throw their clothes out and buy new ones frequently, so he's learned to do the simple things.
► rather than despise the laguz, he fears them due to the stories he's heard from several people.

eavesdropping on eunjin may have caused you to hear.. /
► "at least you can impress girls with your flower knowledge, jinhong. what asset can i possibly show? being able to lift four trash bags across the grand ballroom?"
► "my dimples? i can't just depend on my dimples! lord yoonoh has dimples too and his face is sculpted by the goddess herself- look, i know i'm comparing myself to others again but-"
► "sir, i wasn't sure which rack of swords you wanted polished so i polished all of them-"
► "is that lady yewon? run, run, ru- lady yewon! what a coincidence! yes, i've decided to join the army. it's a pleasure to see you again! take care!" "god, jinhong, that was so embarrassing."
► "hello, little spider. sorry, but i'll have to ruin your little web here."
► "umm, actually, we've been going the wrong way for five minutes-" "so-sorry! i just thought you looked so sure of yourself that perhaps i was wrong! my apologies!"
► "what? no! i don't hate heejin, it's just-" *sighs* "i'm more comfortable with hanse." "yes, it's also because i'm shy, shut up."
► "miss, with all due respect, that's.. that's not how you clean a window.."
► "jinhong, if i die, throw my notebook into the ocean or bury it with me. i don't want my parents to see my poems on moonri."

what does your character think of changkyun? /
► His eyes flicker at the mention of Changkyun, "Ki-King Changkyun?" His mouth opens yet he mentally scrambles for the words to say, humming to himself as an attempt to fill the silence as his eyes trailed down. "We used to be on friendlier terms," Eunjin started off, "But ever since His Majesty's strange change, I can't dare to look his way anymore." Though he doesn't frown, there's a hint of sorrow and concern in his eyes.

ARE THEY AFRAID OF THE MEDALLION BRINGING FORTH THE GODDESS' WRATH AGAIN? /
► His eyes trail off again, contemplating before he answers again. "I.. I don't really have anything to say about that." Eunjin puts up a shy, apologetic smile. "It seems like a tale to me, you know? A tale twisted with exaggeration just to scare little kids."

WOULD YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE IN TO FIGHT FOR WHAT'S RIGHT? /
► It doesn't take a mind reader to tell that he is having a difficult time with this question. Eunjin isn't asked these kinds of philosophical questions on the daily, nor is he asked at any frequency. He's such a simpleton. All he does is clean and take orders. "I.. don't know?" There's discontent on his face over the answer. God, he knows nothing at all.

WOULD YOU SAVE FIVE STRANGERS OR ONE SIBLING? /
► He scratches his head, "Five strangers, I guess." Eunjin informs, "I don't have a sibling after all. Imagining a hypothetical sibling for this question won't help since.. I don't know what it's like to have one, so the moral challenge behind this would be in vain, right?" Eunjin blinks as he waits for confirmation.

uniform /
► While he's just a recruit, he doesn't wear anything other than the standard uniform. Later on when he starts being sent off for duties and even in the battlefield, he acquires better armour. He wears a short-sleeved black undershirt that is collared. Over that he wears his green armour that covers his torso and shoulders. He has arm guards of the same colour that are fastened onto his upper arms. Eunjin also wears armour that covers his waist and also allows a garment with the Dalbyeol crest flow in front. He wears black trousers and boots, fastening green leg armour. (inspired by forsyth)

a typical day /
► Eunjin stays at the barracks and wakes up when most people also start waking up. He washes up and gets ready for the day, grabbing whatever is served to the soldiers for breakfast. He's never late nor early, and is rather just on time. As he is a recent recruit, he isn't given any duties other than to train in combat and be shown the ropes regarding the system and functioning as a soldier in the army. Every now and then, he may be taken out with a higher-up to learn how to go about with future duties such as patroling. His days aren't so eventful as of yet and he hasn't gotten around to getting to know other people in the army yet. He sticks with Jinhong and endures all the bullying he gets from other recruits. It's so easy for them since he's a pushover and they even take advantage of that when practicing combat. The poor guy can't fight with bloodlust, at least not yet. After training, he tends to spend the rest of the day with just Jinhong at the mess hall or somewhere nearby. He may be found talking to Jinhong to the side while his friend practices archery. Then they do it all over again the next day.

[  "I wonder.. what will become of me?"  ]
final words / this boy has two paths when it comes to character development: he gets strong and either rises up or he falls. maybe he'll endure the war and come out to be a stronger and mature eunjin, or maybe he'll get obsessed over validation and shedding away his palace servant past that he becomes one of the notable villains! up to you (aaand whether he gets redeemed or not is also up to you, i wanted to give you a character with high tragedy potential)!
also! originally, i was going to let eunjin have red armour like lukas. then i remembered haena had red in her uniform and decided "hey why not add a touch of classic fire emblem and make a reference to a fire emblem archetype?" and decided that he wear green. soooo here's the abel to haena's cain! maybe jinhong can wear blue so the three kids can have the colour scheme of palla, catria, and est?? or forsyth, python, and lukas??
don't mind the section of moonri! i just thought she should have some info written down since she has a heavy influence on eunjin, so you don't need to put her on the profiles since she isn't a soldier anyway!
scene reqs /
► as he experiences more battles, his poetry starts to adapt a darker tone compared to the poetry he wrote while he was still a palace servant. it is more indepth, but there's definitely more pain in the words and content.
► eunjin witnesses a yul ally secretly spare a laguz. after some time hesitating, he asks why they did that. he gets a nice little death threat into zipping his lips on the matter, but he's also told "not everything is black and white, eunjin."
► he later on realizes the statement above to be true when a laguz also spares him, taking pity not only for his bad condition but easily seeing how young and naive he is.
► eunjin meets part of the yul army at a time and everytime he does, they always comment on his resemblance to sanha. when fate finally aligns and the two are in the same area, they're dragged to meet each other and are put side by side for comparison.
► after multiple battles, it's obvious that eunjin had grown more hardened and strong. he returns home for once and comes across moonri who finally takes him seriously and is impressed. she offers him a hankerchief embroidered with her initials that she herself had sown on. eunjin, who has lost all feelings for her and has realized his worth, rejects her gesture. she only saw him after he's accomplished so much. (how he reacts may also depend on the direction of character development. on the good path, he rejects good-naturedly and walks away. on the bad path, his pure despise for her shows and he leaves her a few but deep-cutting words)
► once he lets go of moonri, he begins to dislike lanterns due to their association with her. lanterns remind him of all the useless things he did for her that she didn't deserve.
