kim nari

remplace with face claim 120*120

birthnameKim Nari
other names

— Lily Kim (her name from back in the USA. Fun fact: Nari actually means Lily. Her parents thought it'd be a nice inter-language pun. Nope, it didn't work out that way.)

nicknames

— Bro: They don't even mean it in a bad way but most of the other YG trainees refer to Nari as their "bro". She's one of the guys, so to say. No mattter if she likes it or not.

— Oppa: Do you know that feeling when you're walking down a street and some random girls call you "Oppa" and ask for your number, hear your voice and immediately back off, looking more than just devastated? Now? Well... Nari finds it a bit disturbing. Over time she kinda got used to it but it still doesn't make her feel better about herself.

birthday July 22, 2001
birthplace Monterey Park, CA, USA
hometown Monterey Park, CA, USA
ethnicity Korean - American
languages spoken

— English: Her acual native language. No matter how long she's been in South Korea until now, she'll always claim English to be her first language.

— Korean: Learned it from the cradle, Mommy Kim made sure her offspring would be able to take on the Korean legacy that basically consisted of nothing but the few treasures brought from Korea in their little house.
Thanks to the other YG trainees Nari learned all the slang and swear words, they'd constantly throw on one another.

face claim Lee Jooyoung (actress)
back up face claim Bulldok's Kimi
height & weight 162 cm & 51kg
appearance

— Nari looks like a boy. No kidding. It's not like she wants to look like a boy. But she also doesn't want to look like those stereotypical girls. She hates all the gendering, so she decided she'd not bend to those heteronormative shackles of Korean society and thus chopped off her hair. The way she dresses resulted out of coziness. She finds hoodies and boy clothes in general very comfortable and might have ended up a few times too often hanging out with the guys for a shopping raid or two. This doesn't mean that she can't pull a y single lady for a few hours or hop into a nice crop top. It bewilderes the others, nevertheless. For some reason they get uncomfortable around Nari the moment she dresses more feminine.

personality traits high-moral, value-fixated, feminist humanist, boyish, honest feminine, bro, feminine,  self-conscious, responsible, revolutionary, feminine, super supportive, actually very charismatic,  a closeted hopeless and super cheesy romantic, femi - HEY WOULD YOU FINALLY STOP WRITING THIS?!

personality

I'M NOT A BOY, NOT YET A WOMAN. Ever heard of the wolf in sheep clothing? Okay, nonono, don't get me wrong. Nari's not a wolf. But she can be very much seen as a sheep that tries to be a wolf. Or in other words: A girl that very much slipped into the role of a boy because of the way she looks. She doesn't always mind. After all, she's very much a bro to everyone. A good listener, a shoulder to cry on but also someone you can share all your thoughts with and who would laugh even about the worst jokes just to make you happy. She's very easy-going among others and has a very boyish vibe to her, even if mixed with a little sprinkle of cutesy, that causes most guys around her forget that she actually is a girl. Awkward moments occured when the guys were going to the bathroom and wondered why Nari didn't want to go inside with them or someone accidentally butting their hand on her chest and then freaking out over the fact that there suddenly are s. She's a very ambitious and overall happy-go-lucky person that knows how to be responsible even though she's the youngest. Maybe it's because she experienced Jichan going fullout reckless-mode and intervened with a loud "JICHAN, NO!", so she learned how to avoid bad consequences for her friends or teammates at all cost.

DON'T MIND HIM. HE THINKS WITH HIS D*CK AND HIS D*CK IS PRETTY DUMB. Nari really doesn't like people bullting around her. Or cockiness. Or just being a prick. And she doesn't shy away to call people like that out or throw a cheeky comeback at them immediately. Unfortunately, since a lot of people mistake her as a guy, she already made aquaintance with a few fists and not seldomly there had to be a certain Jichan to pick her up and help her out (or even drag her away from the angry mob because heck, this girl really is out for blood and wants to kick !). Maybe that's were they find a similarity. Nari, too, can go reckless-mode. She always does when there is injustice happening or people being inhumanely ed up. Nevertheless, she'd only go this mode when the only person affected by the consequence would be her. If others might get into trouble because of her, she'd try to swallow the anger and just sit it out. However, she'll hate the guts out of the s that act up like that. It's speaking for itself, though, how much she sticks to her values and beliefs and how high her moral is. She'd fight to death to make the world a better place.

I'M A HUMANIST. A lot of people would dare to call Nari a feminist but for a fact, she'd rather call herself a humanist. After all she doesn't only care for women, she also thinks that men should be as free as can be. That's the only way to achieve true equality. Nari believes in equality and really hates superficiality, materialism and corruption. Now guess, where you find way too much of it? Ding, ding ding! Right! Seoul! Nari finds it frustrating how there are set beauty standards for everyone and how individuality goes missing big time in a society like this. She doesn't understand how people follow one specific trend or even a specific opinion and much rather would love to see everyone bloom in their own way. That's why she decided to become a 'tomboy'. She found her inspiration in J-Rock, where Visual-Kei protagonists dressed up to make it visually impossible for the audience to say if the person on stage is a man or a woman. It's what she calls "genderlessness". If guys want to wear dresses, let them be! If she wants to look like a boy and confuse the out of everyone else, let her be! It's her way to shoutout to the people that there's a revolution needed to make everyone equal.

D-DID YOU SAY I'M PRETTY?! Following her beliefs and dressing herself like a boy, Nari is well aware of the fact that she doesn't fulfill any of the beauty standards set around her. It makes herself a bit self-conscious about herself and how for example people like Jichan perceive her. She'd not be able to cope with someone telling her that they find her cute or pretty. Basically because she can't believe it. It also makes her a bit bitter about the fact that she doesn't look like other female idols. She's not a goddess with legs for days and long, perfect hair. She's neither Jennie or Lisa but wants to get where they are to enable a change in Korean gendering. It hurts her a lot when she shares her ideas of a perfect world and people make fun of her or criticize her views. That's when her frustration sometimes ends up in a sea of tears. Not in front of others, of course. Showing weakness isn't one of her strengths. She'd much rather wait for the end of the day, lock herself up in the bathroom and then cry for an entire hour.

WITHOUT KNOWING, LIKE A LADY MY LIPS ARE CALLING YOUR NAME. Even though Nari tries her best not be any kind of typical girly girl, she has her weak moments. While on stage, she can pull a charismatic bomb with winking, lips or just smiling charmingly into the cameras (always in a rather manly way), she turns into a shy girl when Jichan comes around. He doesn't even necessarily needs to be around to make her turn into that cheesy, hopeless romantic she keeps closeted in her heart. In her weak moments she finds herself standing in front of her drawers, looking for cute clothes she could wear on possible dates, doodling hearts on any drawable surface around her or just drifting off into fantasy land where she finds herself returning home after a long working day, finding Jichan in the kitchen with the kids. Or the other way round. She already imagined every possible scenario. No matter how much she wishes to be with Jichan, if he'd ask her to go shopping with him for a date with another girl... the supportive side in her would take over and she'd totally find herself in a shop, cursing herself and watching how the guy of her dreams buys clothes for a date with another girl.

background

— Nari was born and raised in Monterey Park by a loving Korean couple that had hailed all the way from South Korea to find a better perspective for their little family. Nari wasn't really poor, but the family wasn't all that rich either. She was actually very lucky that her parents were close to another Korean family, the Lees, whose son became a famous dancer and her dance mentor in early years. Anthony Lee, member of the Kinjaz, soon discovered Nari's dancing talent and made her his fosterling which resulted in her spending most of her time in the Kinjaz Dojo. At age 14, the Kinjaz got a few jobs at YG, especially to work with the male trainees (i.e. iKon) and Anthony decided to take Nari with him as part of the Kinjaz youth generation. While joining the Kinjaz, she was more or less accidentally scouted at the spot when being around the other trainees and got signed almost immediately when her parents gave their okay.

Nari's first years in Seoul were... a mixture of fascination and frustration. Being a Korean who never went to her country of origin, she was willing to learn everything that'd cross her way. She always thought she was a full Korean after all. However, she soon figured that being "Korean" required more than being a Korean by blood or speaking their language. She didn't know of their social cues and the value system, how superficiality was reigning the society and how stereotypes were burdening men and women. The more Nari tried to adapt, the more she got frustrated. Instead of going back to the US where she might have been a bit happier, she decided that Korea needed a change. Korea needed to be woken up but they needed someone to actually bring that social revolution. The day she decided to be the person to fight for a change, the day she swore to never be a slave of heteronormativity and decided to become "genderless".

trivia

— Her actual name is Lily but to connect better to her new Korean home, she decided to go with her Korean name.

— For some very weird reason Nari once dreamed she was Gain in her Bloom MV and instead of the background dancers Jichan was dancing in front of her bed. Ever since whenever Jichan talks to her, Bloom starts booming through her head and she imagines Jichan dancing with all the sparkles and flowers suddenly blooming around him. It freaks her out. And it drives her head to explode any moment. ABORT MISSION! I SAID ABORT MISSION!

— Nari is a Gamer Girl. She's extremelly into LOL and Overwatch and will be the first to go missing when there is a PC-Bang (internet café) around. When K/DA's Popstars was released, she completelly obsessed over it and ended up practicing the dance every night in front of her mirror. Nari usually goes by the online name "TerrorLily".

— She reeeeeeeeally hates rapper San-E because of his controversial song "Feminist" and is super butthurt since she loved many of the songs he released before that. HE USED TO BE HER HERO, MAN! HOW COULD SHE BE SO WRONG ABOUT A PERSON?!?!?!

— Her main heros are Amber (because of her basically being the perfect example of "genderlesness") and Gain (because let's be real that woman is a goddess and has huge balls, did you ever check out what kind of songs she produces even though she gets so much for that?!).

— Nari has a playlist with cheesy lovesongs that she plays whenever she has a free moment and then imagines herself and Jichan to be the protagonists in the MVs to the songs.

— Jichan once told her "If you want, you can have mine." and she totally misunderstood it as "If you want, you can have me." Yeah, she pretty much freaked, blushed and almost collapsed.

— Even though Nari is not about the process of styling herself up or picking clothes, she finds it very cute how much Jichan is into it. She spends hours watching him choosing his outfits or making sure his hair are on fleak.

— She's not a singer but if she gets to sing something, she wishes it to be a love song or lullaby she can dedicate to someone special ;) .

— Fast Food is her guilty pleasure and she's totally up for sneaking out of the dorm at nights to get some KFC, McDonald's or Taco Bell. Those restaurants remind her a bit of her US home.

relationships

YG

— KING:
She crushed HARD on him. Thus, she'd always look out for him, root for him and try to catch him if he ever seems to fall. She'd be there to back him up no matter what, even if he doesn't feel the same for her.

—THE HYUNG:
Actually one of her favorite bros. After all, he's the oldest and like the Dad among everyone. He's probably the one who keeps reminding the other to treat Nari a bit different because she's a girl but she doesn't mind the others seeing her as one of them. (If he's from the US, too:) They'd probably connect over the fact that they're both Americans.

— STRIKING SPUNK:
Nari reeeeeeally dislikes him at first. She can't find any reasonable explanation why YG kept him even though he's such a troublemaker. They often clash because he has his set mind and values and she has hers... and naturally they don't go well all the time. There's a lot of heat between the two and Nari tries soooo SOOOOO hard to tolerate him. Someone save this child, before she goes berserk.

--> The Love Triangle:
Nari loves Jichan. No joke. But there's something between the Striking Spunk and her, she can't put a finger on. They're fighting most of the time, maybe all the more since they're teamed up more often than Nari would like, but they're close to one another in the weirdest way possible. Nari sometimes has the feeling she can understand the Striking Spunk... and then the Striking Spunk gives her the feeling he sees her as a woman and not one of the boys. Because of him she feels flustered. Nari doesn't like it. JICHAN IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN MAKE HER FEEL LIKE THIS! She does not approve. But the denial is real.
For a fact, if teamed up, Nari would fight to death even for the Spiking Spunk and that's probably one of the reasons the Spiking Spunk warms up to her. She defends him and has his back, after all. If he likes it or not.
Nari also admires how skilled he is. She has a weak spot for skilled and talented people and watching the Striking Spunk's passion and talent ever now and then make her melt a tiny bit.

—THE ICE PRINCE:
Omg, did my water just freeze??? Nari doesn't quite know how to make him warm up around her or the others but happily joins Jichan on his attempts melting this ice cube. They don't talk that often and when the athmosphere gets awkward, Nari chuckles uncomfortably and slooooowly, just slowly (cautiously put one step... ooookay, now the second) tries to leave the scene by backwards walking into the very next wall.

— GOLDEN STAR:
Oh, she likes him! Others might despise him because he seems like the company bias, but heeeey, leave the boy breathe a bit. She doesn't judge. If he deserves the fame, he does.

—THE KIND VOICE:
She loves listening to him SO MUCH. Do you think he'd sing Bloom for her the next time Jichan walks by?

JYP

— JINSEOK:
Nari doesn't get it. Isn't J-Hope, literal sunshine of BTS, his brother??? Why is this guy being so cocky?!?!?! Noping out hard on him!

— SECRET WEAPON:
WOAH! The skills! The charisma! Nari actually tries to tell him how gooooood he is backstage, but for some reason he always runs away...

— CHARMING SMILE:
He's soooo nice, is he even real?! Nari wished he was a YG trainee so she could spend some more time with this fella. Alas...

— THE SCENE STEALER:
Ooooookay, getting ambivalent feelings here. Nari roots for her Golden Star buddy, so she feels like she should be against this guy... and she's trying hard but this guy deserves some respect.

— FOREIGN TOUCH:
When Nari thought she'd be the most outstanding in the show, this guy shows up and she's buffled by the fact that he's non-Korean. She really hopes he gets a fair share and that the Korean idol industry won't chew him up and spit him out again, he doesn't deserve it. However, she looks forward battling against him!

— SUNNY CHARISMA:
Where does JYP get all those nice guys from? One day Nari wants to pick up all the guys in the show and just have a nice evening-out with them. Wouldn't that be nice?

— THE ENERGY PILL:
Oh boy. OH BOY. Nari gets a bit nauseous from all the fanservice this boy is offering. He does not know any shame, does he? It's cool that he's so into it, though. Nari still wouldn't dare to try the aegyo he's pulling waaaaaaay too often.

 TRAINING LIFE

 — Training at the company had it's pros and cons. Pro:
Dancing was always fun! Nari luckily was already trained well
enough to make the dance training experience super fun and not
all too hard at all. Rapping, however... she had a long way to go
but got to a certain level thanks to the help of trainee friends
 (echem, JICHAAAAAAN).

 PREDEBUT EXPERIENCE

 — Nothing in the area of performing as a K-Pop artist or modelling. She joined a few dance competitions in the US when she was younger and was featured in a few dance studio videos, but that's about it.

love story

— On a rainy day, when Nari had lost hope in South Koreans because nobody seemed to really be interested in one another, Jichan found a new obsession. Nari. For a short while at least. The moment he started to obsessively try to get to know Nari better(as a labelmate and very probably in a friendly way and not to hook up with her), she felt like someone was genuinely interested in her for the first time ever since she came to Seoul. All of a sudden she felt flustered and the urge to just grab his arm and cuddle up to it evolved, making Nari question her own sanity. The circumstance led to a friendship nonetheless.

It's weird how close those two can be and how conflicted Nari is with herself because she wants to tell Jichan about her feelings but at the same time she doesn't want to risk their friendship. Ironically her feelings already make her back off him. She's sometimes too overwhelmed by her own feelings, so she'd retreat and put some distance between them, leaving a wondering Jichan behind.

ending

— If Nari ever gets to see Jichan , she'll probably die of a serious nosebleed. // No, serious now: I can't say if I ship her more with Jichan or the Striking Spunk, I'd have to wait for the story to start. But I'm a er for second lead syndrome, so I'm preparing myself for being torn between first and second lead. BRING THE DRAMA ON!

last comment SHE'S BORN! I really, really, really hope you like her and I can't believe I finished her that quickly >_<
