Well, Jayeon is without a doubt one of the most ambitous person that you'll ever meet. because once she sets her mind on something, she will never ever let it go. Because she treats every opportunity that she gets as if it was her last one. now that she has reformed herself (which is explained in the background) she feels that she actually has a shot to succeed in her dreams of becoming a singer. and she will not waste a single second on it. Even though she has been tripped and fell down seven times, but she stood up eight more times. Well, obviously Jayeon was born on Christmas day in Canada. So, just imagine the snow at that time. Horrible. The thing is, her name is the literal translation to English, "Natural beauty", but she wasn't considered beautiful with what defined it as. She was always a chubby kid, who kind of eats her problems away, and wanted to lose weight in a healthy way, but always ends up eating at Mcdonalds. Yes, she did get made fun of because of her heavy appearence, and cried and tried evrything that she could do naturally for her age. Yet nothing worked at all.
It didn't really help when she moved to South Korea when she was 10 years old, and started school there. Her parent sent their daughter to live with her aunt and uncle from her mother's side because Yeomi's grades weren't the best and thought that maybe the dispcinary ways of the Korean school system will rub off on her. When she got there she notcied that almost all the girls had flawless skin, skinny arms, legs, thighs, everything. Yet, she was the biggest girl there. Plus, we all know (a/n through extensive watchings of k-dramas) that bullying is kind of pushed aside and not treated as something, "Important" and she was picked on continuosly. That's when music kind of came into her life.
When she moved to South Korea, and she realized her dream was to become a singer, because her grades still weren't the best and thought to herself the only thing she's good at was singing. She decided to audition for a couple of companies. She probably audtioned for ten, and she failed them all. They all told her, and stated "Does not have idol material". So always thought that it meant she has to practice her vocals and dancing. So she did, and a lot more auditions later, she figured what it actually meant. She wasn't, what they call, "Beautiful". So, that kind of put her on a hiatus with her audtions.
Her aunt and uncle were former musicians and she would sing along to some of the songs that she played. It helped her kind of release herself, from herself(?). Because, she hated the way she looked, and more so the looks of the strangers who would stare at her with their cold, judging gazes on her body. She couldn't say anything, because she was so scared and everything she would say to them would be a lie. She couldn't say, "I chose this", "I'm think I'm pretty the way I am." because she won't be lying to not just them, but to herself. But with music, more so singing can just let all her stress out, and allows her to say what she was so afraid to say. She even aspired to become a singer, but like her classmates said, "No one wants to watch a pig sing."
But one day, after she watched the movie "200 Pounds Beauty". She had an instant connection with the protagonist, Kang Hana who was a singer who hid in the shadows because she didn't have the look, but yet she had the voice to be the star of the show. And that part when Hana made a speech like confession that she doesn't want to undergo sugery to just be beautiful, but for the sake of being liked and as a vote for confidence for a happy life, just took the words of how Yeomi would've want to say to people who were looking at her. That's when this story takes a bigger turn.
Jayeon had asked for her coming of age present (when she was 19 and graduated high school, that she wanted to undergo a liposuction and eye surgery. Of course, her aunt and uncle and parents (who flew there to see their little girl graduate) were hesitant. But after Yeomi made a bit of a speech that went along the lines of, "Please don't tell me that you're not embarrassed or insecure when going out with me. I know, you know that you see the people judging me on how big I look. For almost my whole life, I put up with the gazes and taunts, but I want to end it. The suffering. Not just for me, but for you too. For just once, I want to buy pretty clothes without people trying to show me the plus size section, to eat and not having people stare at me, and for once be like other girls in the world. And for you two, to not feel embarrassed when your friends ask about me. I know I'm ugly. Why can't I be beautiful?" and that completely won her aunt and uncle and her parents over into agreeing.
Then by the time she was twenty, after being away from people to recover from her surgery. Unwrapping the bandage off her face, was the most intense thing she ever done. When it was all gone, she was so moved, and happy, and she even cried because, finally she looked what people called, "Pretty" and has the actual potential to be a singer. Kim Lyn is definitely a girl filled with charisma and confidence. Maybe because she is a dancer used to compete in many competitions. When Lyn and Jayeon both met, Jayeon was a bit intimidated by Sora's chich personality, but with time the two bonded with each other and became close friends. Lyn is one of the few people who didn't look at Jayeon differently after her pictures were released. She was very open-minded and understood that ayeon did it to make her feel happy. Jayeon got accepted into Pledis in 2014 till to this present day. Because Pledis is her first company that signed her she spent everyday like it was going to be her last. She wasted no time on slacking off, but honing her singing skills. Her singing skills were acknowledged by the trainers under Pledis and as well as her beauty before her issue came out. Jayeon was supposed to appear/debut with Pristin, but was pulled out because she didn't have the best dancing skills. However, optimistic Jayeon kept practising hoping that she'll debut into Pledis' next group that may come. You could say throughout her years under Pledis she became a respected trainee due to her hardworking persona. However when the issue came out after being announced as a Pledis trainee to compete in PD99, she was looked at differently. It did take a notch down from her confidence because of how some trainees whisper about the work that had been done on her. Yet,, she tried to keep her head as high as she can.
She hopes that in PD99 that she can make people forget about her PS, and just see her skills and hear her story. And hopes that PS wouldn't be so looked down upon in SK anymore.

As mentioned before, Jayeon was in the line-up for Pristin debut and previous appearence on the ffirst season of the Produce series, but pulled out. She does have prior experiences modelling in some ads for clothing brands. Also had a cameo in Seventeen's Mansae video. Yet, none of her high school alumni didn't know it was Jayeon because of the drastic change and her name wasn't released to the public.
