Personality 

Confident - With being the bundle of joy that he is, he's pretty confident about himself. As you may notice, he isn't going to be the visual of the group if he makes it into the final line-up. Even his friends joke around that he's not handsome and probably won't make it into the group because of that. Sure, he gets annoyed with it sometimes, but he thinks a bit differently about their comments. He takes their negative comments and turns it into something positive. Like, "Yeah, I'm not handsome, but at least I have clarification that I made it for my talent."

Joyful - Well for starters, Geomi can safely say that he's like a vitamin towards the other competitors. Because he's been raised in a joyful places because he has always been a very joyful child since birth and can be described as, "the life of the party" which he gladly takes the title. Geomi thinks that if you're not smiling, you're obviously doing it wrong. Some people may think that he's a bit y'know "unstable" because he's always smiling, but what can you do? He thinks life's great, why not smile about it? 

Charismatic - When he "Hits The Stage" you may ignore him and focus on the more handsome guys, but sooner or later, you're eyes slowly starts to wander to where he's standing. You can't explain what compells you into him, but there's something that makes him seem eye catching. You can just see the fire in his eyes, that just screams "I came here and I'm slaying the stage". He just has that fire inside of him that you can really see at first, but once that boy opens up his mouth, you just start to notice him and he might probably become your bias wrecker.

Humorous - The guys not the light of the party for nothing. Because Geomi has some wit that never fails to make someone laugh. He doesn't like an awkward atomsphere where you can just sense the tension in the room. So he just voluantrily becomes the moodmaker in the group, that makes the other guys comfortable and feel like, "yeah, we're not a team and this is a competition, but we can atleast enjoy with each other." 

Persistence - With being put down a lot, considering his looks that make others disbelive in his dream of becoming a singer, he has to build himself up. He knows that he has no right to say that he's handsome as Lee Minho or Kim Woobin, but he can admit that he's handsome as the one and only Jang Geomi, because there's only one.  So, he continues on that he's not handsome and that won't lessen his talent skills. That's what makes Geomi go on with his dream.

Vehement - Yeah, Geomi does describe himself as the happy-go-lucky guy out of the guys, but once you hand him a mic. He goes all out, and means business. Many are pretty suprised when they see Geomi practice singing for the first time, because that's the only time they see the serious side of Geomi. To Geomi, music is his escape from the taunts and the road gets rough. Music doesn't judge him, and he's very greatfu for that, and treats it like it was his own child. (If that makes sense)

Bad:

Impulsive - Sometimes with his wittiness, he can say some things that can offend people by accident. Because he had always said that he doesn't even know half of the things that come out of his mouth. He doesn't have much self control, when it comes to his action, so he always have to think if it's the right time to say this, but ultimatley he fails and goes a long and says it. So it would be great if someone monitors him.

Vulnerable - Despite Geomi being confident about his talents and on the lines of his looks aswell, but not everyone can be happy and confident 24/7 (but if there are people like that, then a round of applause from me). Sometimes the comments comes to him so often, it's hard to not forget them and sometimes it's all that he can think about. There has been one time where he considered going under the knife, so he would become "handsome". It was a really a vulnerable time at that point. He pulled himself out of the gutter, and made the decision to be happy. He tries his best not to go back to the dark place.

Gullible - He's a a naive little guy. Ever since he was young, it was pretty easy to make him believe in something, which is the biggest downfall about him. His parents even said themselves that it was hard to not tell Geomi that Santa isn't real. He also has a pretty sketchy childhood, because he had trust people to easily, which bit him the the later. The boy should have someone to tell him what's actually true and what's not. 

Stubborn/Perfectionist - Like a little kid, he's pretty stubborn. But his stubborness comes out when he's pratctsing. Because of his vehement attitude, when he doesn't think that he's not up to par, he practcies untl he thinks he got it down. And his process takes hours and some other boys do tell him to stop, or else his vocal chords would be strained. But he would always tell them, "just a bit more. I almost got this down." which will take another hour.

Indescisive - It takes time for Geomi to make a decision on his own. Because the question "Maybe if" follows him around a lot and always wonders the possibilities if he had done something different. Which always contridicts his decision making because he wants to make the right move.

Background Give Love : Jang Geomi was born in Seoul, South Korea, but when he was 3 years old his family and him moved to Canada, for his dad's job tranfer. While growing, he was the only child, but his parents taught him from the young age of 4 that he will always make friends if he just continues to smile. Also, his love for music started when he was young because his parents would always play Korean songs throughout the house to feel in the silence. So in his neighbourhood, you would just see him walking down the streets, smiling at the people who passed by. Also, almost had a few mishaps when he walked away with strangers a few times, (thank goodness his mom's mom senses kicked up and caught him). 

Oh, Canada~ - Geomi didn't have any problems with living in Canada. Because he loved pancakes with maple syrup and his french fries with gravy and cheese curds. Because he started school when he was really young, and as kids (in my opinion) they didn't see any color and accpeted despite his race. So, he made a lot of friends and among his friends in class, he was labeled, "The Class Clown". He loved living in the land of the true North Strong and Free. (Credits: "Oh, Canada" Canada's National Anthem). Also when Gangnam Style became a thing, and his friends were trying to dance a long with it, he be like, "Just stop. Let me show you how you actually do it." 

Come Back Home - Unfortunatley, Geomi had to pack up his parkas and tuques and move back home to South Korea when he was 16. Of course he was going to miss his friends, but what you do, right? He was pretty excited and curious at the same time of going to another scool and in another country. Because he was still an infant when he was born, he had no real memories of when he lived there. But he was lucky enough that his parents lived there for decades, and in the last couple of months living there in Canada, his parents taught him enough Korean that he could be comfortable speaking in school. Except for the swear words. (He'll learn them later in life). 

Here I Am - Geomi was pretty excited about moving onto a new life in South Korea. Geomi was made fun of when he entered the class as a new kid, but luckily not all people are s, and made him feel actually welcomed. Geomi embraced as much as he was, but let's be honest he did have incidents where he wanted to change he was - appearence wise. But luckily, the friends he made, made him feel he was most handsome as he is. (No homo). He didn't have much friends as he did in Canada, but what he do? Not everyone likes him.

This is What Dreams Are Made Of - Geomi always sings whenever he was alone. With the excpetion that when he was little would have mini-concert in his living room that he would pretend be a stadium, with his audience being his collection stuffed animals singing made up songs, with made up words. But what made Geomi want to become a singer is singing Big Bang's MAMA performance in 2013. Because at his age (which was like 16) he thought he looked cool dancing onstage and singing and controlling the crowd. At that moment, he was like, "That's it. That's what I'm going to do."

Geomi told his classmates friends, that he was going to audition for YG and some other classemates who over heard him and opposed his dream and ust laughed at him. Because with a face like his, just being in front of the camera is his own concern. Because there are prettier and more handsome people than him just in auditions alone. It discouraged him, because he knows he's not that handsome as TOP, but what chanegd his mind is when one of his classmates said, "Yah! Shut up! Daesung's eyes has more shine in them than yours!"

YG Man - We all know that there's this rumor where YG doesn't really care about looks. *Geomi looks at his TOP poster "Wait, really?* Yet, we got to admit that YG has a knack for picking talent. I mean, Daesung may not be the most handsome member, but his voice is golden as f***! So in 2013, he auditioned for YG Entertainment and he gotta admit some of these looked like they were idol material, but he just slapped his face and mentally told himself he's ready. Like everyone, he auditioned and left. Then in just a matter of 2 weeks he got a call back.

When he told his friends, he also told the other guys that made fun of him to " it!" while doing a hip- at him. (No homo - again).

Mix & Match - So with being one year of being a YG trainee. He improved his vocals, learned how to dance, but just make sure that he's not going to rap. That didn't end up well when he tried. Only with being a trainee for a year, he was one of the selected trainees to participate in Mix & Match as one of the new trainees. Honestly, the original guys thought it was weird because other trainees have been training for years, but he's one of the newer guys so why would he play with the big dogs?

But despite the tension between the boys and the new trainees, Geomi was one of the first who warmed up with everyone of the guys. 

Also, when the first episode of Mix & Match aired, many neitizens were commenting on his looks. Because he was beside guys like Jung Jinhyung and Yang Hongseok, and there was him. Of course, his classmates got his nickname "Geomin" out there for the public now.

It caused Geomi to feel really insecure about himself and looks. During Mix & Match he really pushed himself to train harder to become a singer and prove that, "yeah, his looks didn't get him into the company, but his talent did." YG even complimented him on that.

But ultimatley, didn't even make iKon's final line-up. Later on, Jung Jinhyung and Yang Hongseok left the company and he was the only one that stayed from Mix & Match's eliminated contestants. 

Geomi actually thought it was because of his looks he didn't make the final lineup. He even considered to go under the knife even YG recommended it. But then he remembered what his classmaes told him. If he actually accepted the offer it was like letting them win. Who wants their enemy to win? Ever? So he denied the offer and continued on keeping his head high.

Now it's Do or Die - (2 years later) Now, it's been a couple years since Mix & Match aired. Some things have changed, some didn't. YG still recommends Geomi to go under the knife, but he still rejects it. The D-bags from his school make fun of him whenever they play iKon in the class in between breaks in class, because he didn't make it to the final line-up because of his face.  Although, the comments don't usually get to him, but you should know that he's human too and he's not bulletproof. So sometimes the comments dug into his brain and made him feel like, "Maybe that's the reason why I didn't make it.

Then that's when the news came out about Produce 101. YG himself was planning about if he would allow some of the fellow trainees to be on the show, to probably to promote his company and create some buzz for some furture projects.

It was only until Geomi knocked on YG's office door. Geomi has asked to participate in the show. YG showed his signature grin. (Which honestly freaks me out a bit). He asked a question, "You know that if you lose, I'm going to ask you to pack you bags, right?"

Geomi sat there in silence for a while thinking what will happen if he'll lose. Finally he came up with an answer.

"I would have already packed my bags when I lost Mix & Match, but I'm still here. Even despite random people comments telling me I should quit, I'm still here. You keep pushing me to fix my appearence, but I'm still here. I'm still here because my head is only looking up, and when you look up, you can only see how high you can go."

Likes

— 2NE1 — It is safe to say that Geomi is loud and proud BlackJack. Because ever since he heard "Ugly" on the radio one day, he thinks that they helped Geomi out of that dark place. If he ever gets to meet him, just expect Geomi getting winded in the matter of 3 seconds. Also, Park Bom is his ultimate bias. Now that they had unfortunately disbanded, Geomi was balling hsi eyes out, but he will forever be a Blackjack for the rest of his life

— Poutine — Majority of his life, he was raised in Canada. So, you have to expect that Geomi fell in love with the bowl of golden fries, with the overflowing amount of gravy, and the ooey-gooey cheese curds. That's his life, and he would marry it

— iKon — Despite not getting into the final line-up, he has to admit that their music is pretty good, and the other (then) members gave it all they got and deserve their rightful place as the members of iKon

— Park Bom — He is not afraid to admit that he is Park Bom trash. He's so trashy the whole junkyard represent how disgusting, yet how big his trashinees for Park Bom. Park Bom is his ideal type because, well like their songs, he body is second to on one, and she has a voice that doesn't get appreciated enough. Plus, you got to admit she has a pretty cute smile

— Girl Groups — He's a guy - going on man. I mean, he's been through puberty and the only way to describe this "like" is just referencing the lyrics of BTS "War of Hormones"

— YG — Even despite many people disliking YG for different reasons *comebacks after months after the actual announcement* but Geomi does have respect for the YG man because the comebacks he gives never disappoint, and even if some groups share some similarities, they still have their own distinct color

— Ballads, Rock and Korean Folk Songs — It may sound like peculiar playlists, but that's whats on his music playlist. Typically, not a basic YG trainee representee, but he has his own color. Ballads because his mom usually played it through the house in the mornings, his dad played rock music in the afternoon, when he comes back from work, and Korean Folk Songs in the evening. (Fun Fact: When Geomi was a little kid and had trouble sleeping, his parents would play Korean folk songs to help him sleep)

— Smiling — We all saw this coming sooner or later. Sure, when he may been called the "Neighbourhood Idiot" because he kept smiling even if someone was getting scolded or called out, but he smilied because it's just natural.

— Daesung — Like with Park Bom, he's trash for Daesung. I mean, he even got called, "mini-Daesung" because they have similar personalities, and have the same smile. Also mainly the fact that they are not ranked high when it comes to outer appearence, but they can rank pretty high for their vocals. I mean, Daesung (I don't know if I'm right because I haven't rewatch Mix & Match yet and it's been long since the first time) stated in one episode, "Geomi-ah can pass as my little."

— Working Out — There are very few pictures of him exposing his abs. Many people don't know about them, but the fact that not many people know about them, makes him feel a bit mischevious. Because the time will come when the guys will have to show their physique, and everyone will be surprised when they see Geomi's abs

Dislikes
— Bullies — Of course, because of personal experiences Geomi has a strong disliking to bullies. He finds it ridiculous that people just pick on somebody else for no legit reason

— Winter — The boy grew up in Canada and you all know how that works out. Canadian winters are no joke.

— Math — Despite (and not to be racist) him being Asian, he is not that great at math. He hates numbers. He hates numbers with laters. He hates numbers with letters and symbols the most

— Cold Drinks — Geomi never cared about how he treated his voice, bu ever since he started to train under YG he has been more concious about what he puts on his throat and since cold drinks is a no-no. (Fact: Ever since he started training under YG, Geomi hadn't had a cold drink in 3 years

— Plastic Surgery — Geomi has to admit that he did consider going under plastic surgery to make his appearence appealing to audiences. But what changed his mind is thinking that if he did change his appearence, than he would know that people would just like him because he changed, not for what he is

— Doing Nothing — Because Geomi has started to work out regurlary and now, whenever he's just siting down, or just doing nothing in general, it makes him feel like he's lazy not doing anything that will improve his skills

— Contact Lenses — At least if he rejects plastic surgery, than he would make do without his glasses and wear contact lenses. He just always thinks that if he wears contact lenses that they will get lost in his eyes somehow and would never get it out

— Doing Aegyo — Unless you want to lose your eyesight than I suggest that you should not ask him to do anything cute

— Candy — When everyone was a child they love candy. Geomi was no exception, but again with training to become an idol, Geomi has to mentally train himself to restrict candy to come into his mouth

— Drama — Life is life, not K-Drama. He doesn't like a tense atomsphere, because when there's drama you'll never actually realize what you could've done right because you went left

Habits

→ Keeping his mouth open → Due to his unique mouth shape, it causes him to keep his mouth open. He does try to close his mouth, but it just always end up opening it by himself

→ Brain Farts → Geomi has his mini-brain farts anyway. It takes him a moment to realize what's going on, and also when he talks, he has sudden moments when he just pauses and continues talking moments later.

— Doing girl group dances — Being a big girl group stanner, he knows his way of girl group dances and is not afraid to show it

— Kkap Dance — Along with girl group dances, he is also suprisingly talented at kkap dancing and is not afraid to show it

— He has only confessed to one girl in high school, but he was rejected for obvious reasons

— He graduated from Hanlim's Multi Arts High School and does not have any aspiration to go to college because of his dream to become a singer

— He is very close with iKon's Junhoe. When Geomi started training, Junhoe and him would sometimes practise together, but they got closer in Mix & Match. Junhoe told Geomi after the show ended that he hopes himself and him would stand on the same stage together

— When he was younger he used to have mini-concerts with his parents and his collection of stuff animals

Trainee years 3 Years

Trainee life As explained in his background, Geomi is a YG trainee of 3 years. During his first year of training, YG has picked him as one of the other trainees to participate as a contestant in Mix & Match. Although it was only his first year being a trainee, during the he was consistent showing his talent, with minor critique in front of YG and the judges. 

Because of his lost, many netizens were commenting that his face was the reason he had lost, because he had the voice, but his face just ruined it. Even some fellow trainees gossip among themselves, thinking that Geomi is deaf all of a sudden, but he hears it - everything. Because he's a boy that doesn't like to stur up drama he would just smile whenever they see them, even if they talked s*** about them five minutes ago. 

Unfortunatley, Geomi did not make it into the final line-up of iKon. But through out his expierience on the show, he became close with the boys of iKon, and wished them success. 

But anyways, during and after the show many people found reasons to call him Geomin. He has been crtiqued on his looks which made neitizens comment some of the following:

"I guess YG doesn't really care about looks after all..."

"He's talented hands down, but geez.... his face is what's holding him back."

"If no one is going to say this, then I will. Sure he got a voice, but the fact that he looks like that explains why he'll be in locked up in YG's basement for a long time."

With these comments fluttering about, Geomi really did consider PS at that time. He was caught by paprazzi, of entering and leaving a plastic surgery clinic. Only to later confirmation that he did go to see his options, but ultimatley never got plastic surgery after changing his mind.

Geomi hopes that if he gets on PD101 that he will let his voice do the speaking and not his face.

Pre-debut 

— Mix & Match / 2014

What was your reason for joining produce 101? Geomi got himself comfortable, and looking at the familiar setting. Nostalgia hits him from 3 years ago, which makes him break out his signature gummy smile, after a bog breath. "It's been a long time..." He mumbled under his breath as he looks at the camera. "I wanted to join because even if I'm from a big company, I want to be onstage quickly too. Also... can I say this?" Geomi wondered to himself. but he just shrugged his shoulders and smiled at the camera. "I already know that I'm no Kim Woobin, Lee Jongsuk, but I'm just me. But everyone keeps telling me to change and I'm sick and tired of hearing it. I want people to like me because of my voice not my face."

What was your main focus when training? vocal? dance? rap? He looks up to the sky, trying to remember when he actually figured about the show. He his head to the right, thinking about what he would do in the show. "I obviously want to keep my focus on my strength, singing, but maybe...." Geomi started to grin to himself at the sudden thought that came in his head. "How does "Jang Geomi becomes a rapper" sound?" He asked the PD, but they just started laughing. "It was just a thought, just a thought..." He said to himself, still smiling to himself.

What class are you expecting to enter in the first episode? Geomi was holding his arms in the air as if he was the big man in the house. "I'm a YG man, I mean won't I be in A class?" For the first time ever, Geomi had said something without cracking a smile, but it was short lived as he bursted in a fit of laughter. "People will dislke me more if this airs, but I'm just kidding everyone." After his "little" fit, he recollected himself. "But if I stay positive about my ablities... won't I be a strong candidate  for A class?" Geomi grineed to himself.

What do you think your final rank will be? "In my opinion, I already know I can't get 1st place already, but I think I can make it to the top 20."

Do you think you'll be able to make it to the final group? if so, why? "Geomi lets out a nervous laugh, he already knows what he was going to say, but he was trying to figure out a lesser, "in your face" answer."I want to say that I will, but how do you say that in a less cocky way?" He asks the crew, but they just give them silence as their answer. "Well, I guess there is no other way, but I will because I know I'm a skilled vocalist although I do know that I'm no center material though."

What do you think sets you apart from the other trainees on the show? Geomi lets out another laugh. "I think many of the other trainees will think that my company is going to set me out." Geomi made that, "but wait, there's more" face. "I think that will be one of the factors of why I'm going to stand out, but I think it's going to be my attitude that will set me apart. Because I have faced rejection one after another and I'm still at this side of the television. Even if I loose a spot at this competition and maybe if I don't go back to YG after this too, I'll still hold my head up high and continue my path to become a singer."

What song do you plan to perform for your first evaluation in front of the judges? "One of my personal favourites, "One Million Roses"."

Are there any final things you would like to say? This time he let out a sigh, different from his others. This time his sigh was filled with more worry and anxiousness. "During my days on Mix & Match and off the camera I was mostly known as "Geomin". Because I didn't have the best features physically, but during the show it made me rethink that I didn't have the talent I thought I had." Tries to dig deeper in his thoughts. "If I make it on the show, I would leave the Geomin image I had then and start a new image, where I didn't get critiqued on my appearence, but solely on what I have - my voice."
