APPEARANCE
minstrels sing of a certain beauty as they tour around kingdoms; they sing of a girl who lives in a big kingdom who's like the sun and moon, glowing radiance with a charisma that captures and entraps everyone around her. with rosy lips, dark brown eyes and a confidence unrivaled, katherine is the epitome of hajnal royalty. her skin is flawless minus the splay of light freckles on her nose bridge and cheeks, only visible if one comes close to her face, and her dark brown locks have been slightly sun bleached from living in hajnal all her life. she wears the colors of the red kingdom with pride, in both her sleepwear and outdoor attire, and genuinely enjoys the luxurious fabrics that she's encloaked in when making her way both around the castle and outside. she stands short but is larger than life, her aura speaking louder than her stature ever will, and is toned and lithe from the sparring training given to her by kalum. back straight, gaze unwavering and hands properly folded on her lap, katherine is a princess and she won't ever let one forget. — 156cm, 46kg.

QUESTIONS  if there's anything that's confusing or needs clarification or you just want changed in this application, please let me know!

COMMENTS  the exerpts / description about katherine in her personality are inspired by mint-seok's personality! !! this took way too long (cue hyeji literally being like "bruh" whenever i pulled a grandma move on her and told her i was tired when it's like 11 pm — leave my old alone) but yes, here's katherine! i used krystal because the whole sestal + kaistal duo just works so well, especially sehun and krystal being a pair of siblings.

SCENE SUGGESTIONS
one  while i know this isn't necessarily comedy, if you need any humor in the story, you can probably use katherine and nathaniel's shenanigans as she tries to make his life difficult and he's strugglin'

two nightly walks with benjamin and katherine idk give me somethin juicy

three if it's not obvious idk katherine and benjamin have something going on but because of their social standings (plus the threat of war) they're not starting anything but it'd be cute to see like little subtle stuff like nightly talks or he'll brush a hair from her face,, honey eyes, etc.

wow sorry i have like nothing on my mind will probably edit later when i'm not dead from finishing this app!

ambitious.  caustic.  personable.  selfish.  charismatic.  intense.  elegant.  calculating.  decisive.  assertive.  responsible.  indulgent.  benevolent.  spoiled.

katherine is born on the summer solstice, a fitting day for the girl who's reputation is based around her fiery disposition and her burning compassion for the citizens of hajnal. with an unrivaled elegance, katherine takes the princess role in stride and stands side by side with her brother to make the bellerose legacy one that goes down in history.

 dear brother,

[redacted for length] ... but princess katherine often times comes down to the city — much to the chagrin of her bodyguard and brother, i'd assume — and stops by almost every store that she comes across, purchasing something before making her way. i doubt she needs three baguettes or multiple flower bouquets or a minstrel to sing a song of her choice but she does so anyways. princess katherine is kind and compassionate, often times going out of her way to help little kids that have skinned their knees or exchanging gold coins for services. princess katherine truly is fitting to be hajnal royalty.

a born and raised socialite who has no problem stepping into her mother's shoes if needed, katherine is an ambitious girl who has no boundaries when it comes to doing what she believes is right. from constantly visiting the city to giving in her input during advisory meetings with the king, katherine never fails to see the bigger picture when it comes to finding out conclusions and is an asset to the hajnal kingdom at the end of the day. while her advisors begrudgingly admit that they respect her intelligence, her citizens will sing praises about her benevolence. an esteemed member of the hajnal community (and not just because of her social status), katherine has an unwavering loyalty to her people and the red kingdom and a kindly heart that aches whenever something bad happens to one of her own. many comment how rare it is to find two siblings with this much love for their kingdom and it's true — with great powers come great responsibilities and katherine is the personification of such. it's not surprising that the love for katherine is common in guests that come to the red kingdom. it's easy to fall for katherine's charm; a grin flashed one's way and they're hooked.

 february twentieth.

today was the annual ball for the hajnal palace and i am currently writing this with sore feet, for princess katherine made me stand by her for hours straight with no rest. even the dogs around the castle get treated better than i do! the dogs! the façade she puts on before the citizens is nothing but a lie because, dare i say it? princess katherine is nothing more than a selfish, arrogant girl who fancies ordering people around without a care in the world. she is absolutely rude and demanding — just because her brother is king, she thinks she can do whatever she wants. oh, how i wish for her true self to come and expose herself to the public.

however, with status comes expectations and it's been well noted that katherine, though more attached and friendly to the palace hands than her brother is, expects them to fulfill their duties to a higher degree. she's much more temperamental than her brother and is quick to lecture and scold those that make a mistake around her. katherine anticipates far more from hajnalians, who's hard work was and is the backbone of their society, and won't fail to express her disappointment if her expectations aren't met. as a princess, she's spoiled and only holds a small amount of patience for things she asks of — failure to do so in a certain time frame leaves katherine fidgety and discontent, opening up the doors to sharp words and biting warnings. extremely headstrong, it's not surprising to see her fighting and butting heads with other advisors — because, despite her good intentions, struggles in believing that she can actually be wrong — and refuses to admit so, often times causing rifts amongst herself and the others who counsel them on how to rule a kingdom. in spite of her giving heart to her citizens, it's ironic just how selfish she can be when it comes down to herself. from miniscule things (getting the last chocolate cake lest she pettily makes life difficult for those around her) to big things — time being one of the bigger things she'll hog to herself, especially of those whom she considers dear.

 dear kat,

it's cold in aequor. i bought a coat with the money ... [redacted for length] ... i told penelope about how you'd probably hate the snow. she laughed; she says she can't imagine living in a place that only has heat but you'll pardon her when we come back, right? anyways, she says she wants to meet you. i told her the story about that one time, when we first met! the time when you ran off into the city, telling the hajnal citizens to give me wrong directions. she laughed — said you were funny. you? funny! isn't penelope hilarious?

BACKGROUND.

PRINCIPIUM
ENTER: KATHERINE

when katherine's mother and the queen passes away when she's four years old, the weight of the world falls on both kalum and katherine's shoulders as the pair of siblings learn what it's like to grow up without a mother figure. gone are the loving arms that embraced the two of them, and it's replaced with sword fighting lessons and tutoring sessions. despite losing her mother, katherine finds solace in her brother who ends up maturing quicker for the both of them. while their father is busy fighting battles, they spend most of their time together in the castle and while katherine is taught how to follow in her mother's footsteps ("a kindly woman," an advisor would explain, "who had nothing but joy in her heart and a warmth that can't be replicated."), her brother is beside their father, engaging in battles. it's when she's 19 that the king is found murdered and kalum is seated upon the throne as the new king. as both her mother and father have been murdered right from under their noses, katherine vows, to the best of her ability, to keep her brother safe.
PRAESENTI
CUE: REGAL GRINS

katherine is twenty one years old when she hears rumors flying around — that her mother was murdered by a blue solider and that it's likely that her father's homicide was done by the same group of people. when asking kalum about this, she's met with a shrug and a dismissal. what's done is done, kalum explains. the only thing we can do is move forward — that's what they would have wanted. she agrees but can't help but feel bitter. the thought keeps her up for many nights until it's decided. so, with the help of sicily, katherine studies; she skims through historical papers dating around the time of her mother and father's death, memorizing articles and looking through clues that could pinpoint whether or not this rumor is true. this is the one thing she keeps secret from her brother.

katherine is twenty three years old. she hasn't solved the mystery of her parent's murders but hasn't given up and with the war coming around between the red and the blue, she may just get her answer.
LIFESTYLE

it's only when the sun peeks through her maroon curtains, gold stitching decorating the fabric, that sicily come into katherine's quarters. the princess (thankfully) rises without much of a fuss as her personal maid guides her to the bathroom where she gets freshened up and ready for the day.

after she gets dressed — in which sicily puts in her two cents, "today is a bit hazy so how about a simple a-line cotton dress, princess kat?" — she joins her brother for breakfast. they go their seperate ways afterwards and despite katherine's official title being that of a princess, she fills in for the role of a queen.

if a noble or a member of another royal family comes in for a visit, katherine dedicates the day solely to keeping the hajnal kingdom's guests entertained. tours are given, afternoon tea time between the two of them are arranged and she's the one that relays to the chef any allergies that their guests may have.

however, if katherine doesn't need to cater towards another, she finds herself in the library after breakfast, reading through books and studying if august is present to tutor her. when the princess is finished — or finds herself dozing off in the process of reading a book — she's found in the kitchen with nathan as they taste test the chef's dessert of the day. this is around the time katherine's antics starts to kick into action (what can a girl say? she's bored.) and it's not surprising to see her sneak out of the castle confinements to visit the city (happens a good multiple times in a week) or lead nathan around the castle on a chase.

because the princess gets tired easily, that never lasts long (although their bickering is heard even from kalum's study room) and they'll often take a tea break for some snacks as katherine and nathaniel hang out in her room. if a meeting between the king and his advisors are called, katherine sits in — her two cents given, regardless of the grumbling from the elders.

compared to her brother, katherine is much more active — one can hear her feet pattering down the halls, nathaniel's heavier ones following in suit — around the castle and she tries to find things to do. her role isn't as taxing compared to kalum's but, with how mundane it is, katherine finds herself complaining about how boring it is in the castle.

TRIVIA

FIRE POWERS
unlike her brother who rarely uses the powers given to him, it's not surprising to see katherine constantly use it for silly things. from lighting candles to roasting potatoes in her room when she's too lazy to go to the kitchen, it's garnered criticism from the elders but katherine does as she please. kalum doesn't have a problem with it so why should she?
GOOD LUCK, CHUCK!
while she doesn't carry it around (only wearing it on special occasions), katherine's good luck charm is a petite, gold ring with a small ruby as the centerpiece, given to her by her mother's advisor on her 16th birthday. she's treasured it since and have worn it during balls and other events when katherine believes she needs the reassurance of her mother right there with her.
FELINE COMPANION
katherine currently owns a russian blue (gifted to her when she was 18 by a neighboring prince who's own cat had ended up having kittens) named charbon, french for charcoal. most of the time, it's spotted sleeping on her windowsill or chasing mice around the castle.
STEALTH LVL 100
as one who was always stuck in the castle compared to her brother who's been physically active since he was younger, katherine is comparibly weaker and lacks stamina compared to those around her (re: kalum and nathaniel.) the one thing katherine has going for her that the other two seem to lack, however, is stealth. the times nathaniel has lost her in the city is solely based on the fact that katherine can dip and hide with the best of them.
JOIN THE BIG KIDS
some say he's abusing his powers, others believe that she brings something new to the table but regardless of what rumors fly around, kalum lets katherine sit in during a meeting between him and royal advisors. he may be the brawn but katherine is definitely the brains — all the studying in her younger years seem to have paid off — and the tag team between the bellerose siblings have proved to be unstoppable. from bettering the hajnal economy to improving their irrigation system to building multiple health facilities, the kingdom has drastically improved under the rule of kalum.

OBEY, AND THERE WILL BE NO CONSEQUENCES.
when her brother assigns her a royal guard in fear of her safety due to the tension between the red and blue kingdom, she never expected to get stuck with someone like nathaniel — the ashton's baby who seemed to make a name for himself for not being like his older brother — and katherine was determined to prove to kalum and nathaniel that she didn't need someone watching over her every single move.

so that's where it starts. she does everything she can to ditch the trailing boy behind her as he follows in suit. from climbing apple trees and hiding as nathaniel furiously looks for her to calling for the boy at 3 am, requesting him to bring her food only to fall asleep right before he comes. she's trying to get him to complain but nathaniel is an ashton — plus, he needs to show his parents and his brother that he can do what the king asks him to.

their relationship is built on mutual dislike — katherine doesn't believe she needs nathaniel and he's curious as to why he's even there in the first place — until she heads into the city one day with a cloak wrapped around herself, leaving nathaniel wandering the streets furiously looking for the princess. she's figuring out whether to buy a baguette or a bouquet of flowers when a couple of figures recognize her off the street but despite her popularity amongst the citizens, these don't favor her brother and in return, don't favor her. they corner her but before damage can be done, nathaniel steps in between the group of people and katherine, briskly paying for both the baguette and the bouquet before taking her home.

no words are exchanged yet everything changes that night when katherine calls nat up to her room at 3 am for a card game, splitting the baguette in half as they spread fruit preserves and butter onto the carbs and get to know one another. since then, the two of them grow close ("we're katnat!") and they treat each other like a pair of siblings rather than bodyguard and princess. the line between them is blurred ("stop calling me your highness, nat. it's kat. just call me by my name when we're alone, geez.") as they step into an unexpected friendship, they learn more about one another and always have each other's back; so when he's shipped off to aequor, it's not complete without a tantrum and a couple of tears shed by katherine who's grown to adore the boy and consider him one of her best friends. she's the figure relaying messages between nat and kalum, reading firsthand about what it's like in the other kingdom.

twenty one. red. soldier and first royal babysitter who gets well too versed in getting her down from trees and appeasing her 3 am cravings. (mint-seok's chara)

to most, kalum is the king of hajnal. he's untouchable, regal and has a flirtatious streak that can't be quelled by the prettiest of maidens.

to katherine, kalum is her older brother who grew into the king's title way too quickly and is currently taking the time to do the things he's wanted to do as a teenager.

like most pair of siblings who had a authoritarian parental figure, kalum and katherine grew close under the scrutiny of everybody in the castle. fighting is inevitable amongst brothers and sisters but it's never hateful and their arguments are squashed within the next hour. kalum has always had a soft spot for katherine which is fired up tremendously once he becomes king and tension between his kingdom and aveline's rises.

katherine sees the world of her brother and they seem to complete one another. they're a power duo and while kalum runs the kingdom, katherine helps kalum better himself in all that he does; she's the only one not afraid to call him out for his stupid choices and his slothesque behavior.

underneath all their cold stares and regal disposition are still a pair of siblings and none would be complete without their dumb inside jokes or the playful jabs at one another. to the people, they're kalum and katherine bellerose, a powerful pair of siblings who do everything they can to run hajnal smoothly. behind the scenes, kalum is kal and katherine is kat as they run down the hallways in their socks, sliding down corridors with a gleeful laugh.

katherine stands by kalum in all that he does, even though she doesn't necessarily agree with it and even if the whole turns their back on kalum, he's confident that his little sister would never. she's extremely protective over her older brother, sending away potential suitors if they're not up to her standards — it's a running joke kalum is never going to get married due to katherine's picky standards and how kalum's love for katherine overpowers any other girl — but kalum seems to be too focused on the kingdom (and keeping katherine out of trouble) for another girl to cherish in his life.

KALUM MARCUS BELLEROSE
twenty four. red. the older brother who's a hardass but has the biggest soft spot for his lowkey spunky sister. can and will do everything to protect her.
when kalum sends away nathan on a mission fit for only the ones most loyal to the red kingdom, her royal bodyguard is replaced with benjamin. he's of a slightly higher rank than nathan, shown through his sword fighting skills and physical stamina, and equally as dislikeable, katherine will find out on her first day.

they end up clashing, just as katherine and nathaniel but this time, it takes much longer for the princess to warm up to benjamin, opting to shut him out rather than lead him on a goose chase around the castle. their relationship is cold, purely princess and bodyguard, but she feels herself softening when she sees benjamin playing with his little brother on the training grounds. he can't be more than 16 years old as he crows about how cool his brother is and how he can't wait to be like him and if working in the castle, more specifically the princess, is as great as the people of hajnal expect it to be.

benjamin not only praises katherine for the way she handles their relationship but talks about the things he gets to do and see with her. it's all false, of course, but katherine can't help but feel the need to make it true when she spies his little brother gape in amazement.

it's not katnat but the two of them share a special bond as they grow closer, shared between late night walks around the castle as they share stories of their childhood to eating breakfast together in the morning but something is different between benjamin and katherine. the fleeting touches spark something between them but katherine is a princess and she can't help but worry about what the citizens of hajnal would think.

while both can't help make their feelings clear towards one another, between the war and their social standings, kathering has a duty to her people and benjamin, their king. (kalum roles his eyes when they think they're being sneaky even though the whole castle literally knows of the two.)

BENJAMIN RHYS LANDEGRE
twenty four. red. soldier who takes over nathan as her royal guard. the slight animosity felt towards one another flourishes into something much softer.

august, fondly referred to augie as katherine, has been in the royal advisory cabinet since he was 20. as the youngest to join the team and one of the smartest, he's been with the bellerose family since katherine was (roughly) 16 years old and as someone who isn't nearing his late 60's, katherine finds august to be her favorite advisor, opting to ignore everybody's opinions for his. he's the youngest and most easy to get along with, especially when it comes to taking the king's (and princess') words into consideration when it comes to their kingdom.

it does help that he used to spend one on one time with her as her personal tutor when she was in her teens, teaching her about numbers and business models, helping her expand her knowledge. katherine is glad to say that she's shot down a few that decided she wasn't as smart as she portrayed herself out to be, talking to her in a baby voice and false information.

he's someone that does everything for the people of hajnal and not for power or money, something both katherine and kalum immensely approve of, and while all the advisors discuss amongst themselves what the best course of action is to keep hajnal successful, it's usually august who relays the message to the rulers because that whole cabinet knows that he has the most power to sway the king and princess.

AUGUST SCITUS ROUSSEAU
twenty seven. a royal advisor who katherine sees over fondly. while not assigned to anybody, august does seem to oversee the princess the most.
when sicily and katherine first met, both girls stood with their back straights and despite their courteous bows and awkward first meetings, it soon becomes clear that these two have a clear bond that can't be replicated amongst anybody else.

friendship soulmates aren't hard to find but when one is the princess of hajnal, it proves to be quite difficult to lock down someone to trust with a life; however, katherine is thankful enough to find someone like sicily — her personal maid who's more like her best friend. while afraid to be as vocal about her close friendship with the princess in fear of envoking negative words from the elder advisors, sicily feels the same way and it's obvious from when they're together that they've come a long way.

katherin treats sicily like the sister she's never had, gifting the charmant family with lavish gifts in secret or sneaking in better food for the personal maid, and in return, sicily waits on katherine to the best of her ability. there's no better a dynamic duo than the two of them together and sicily is one of the first people to know katherine's secrets or feelings — whatever it may be.

SICILY ARIA CHARMANT
twenty five. her personal maid whom katherine likes to shower with gifts and sweets, much to sicily's shock. kat sees sicily more like a friend.

they've only met a couple of times when katherine had accompanied her brother to the blue kingdom and despite such strong feelings between both kingdoms, katherine had always stayed neutral between the slight feud between the blue kingdom's queen and her own brother. naturally, katherine believes her brother is always right and, because her brother views aveline as an authoritarian queen, she does as well but there hasn't ever been a case where aveline had personally offended katherine with the way she's acted or said.

the feelings stay that way until katherine gets a message from nathaniel, requesting her to come to the blue kingdom and, against her brother's wishes, makes haste with a disguise. katherine thinks she's finally meeting penelope — where nathaniel will ask her to pardon penelope in which she will do so willingly — and so she goes off to the blue kingdom with benjamin, her bag stuffed with treats and dresses for penelope to wear but when she reaches her destination and spots nathan's blank stare through the window, katherine knows.

it's when she hears the story that her feelings towards the queen grows. it's not aveline's fault yet everything is her fault.

AVELINE ADRIANNA HART
twenty three. blue. queen of aequor who's rumored to be cruel and katherine believes it since her brother believes it. could be good friends if given the chance.
DISOBEY, AND YOU'LL SEE HOW CRUEL THEY CAN BE.
6:32 PM, JULY FIRST
KATHERINE'S CHAMBERS

"i win," katherine crows happily as nathaniel drops his cards with a groan, watching her put another tally mark next to her name. he casually rests his elbow onto her shoulder as she jerks away with an offended glare before he flashes her a cheeky grin, "but kat, can't we play a different game?"

"are you just mad that i'm winning?" she taunts and nat merely rolls his eyes but before he can retort an equally playful taunt, someone knocks on her door. smiles are dropped and katherine slides the cards under her rug as nathaniel positions himself quickly by the door, hand on the hilt of his sword as he opens up. eye to eye with katherine's royal advisor, he drops his hand with a sigh as katherine peeks behind nathaniel's arm before waving august in.

he enters as the three of them make themselves comfortable around a desk in kat's room as august clears his throat, "so apparently i have to ask you a couple of questions in regards to ... the kingdoms, more specifically: hajnal and aequor. oh, kalum says that even though you might want to say something dumb, to refrain."

(katherine scoffs incredulously then whirls around to wack nat in the stomach as her bodyguard chokes back a laugh.)

good evening. thank you for coming in tonight, your answers will greatly contribute to our kingdom's knowledge on its citizens opinions. our ruler will take your comments into consideration while making any new revisions to our current laws.
"yes, i'll make sure to keep my own answers in mind when my brother and i discuss with the elders what we can do to better our community." katherine flashes august a cheeky grin as he rolls his eyes but writes down what she says anyways.

now then, let's start with something simple. what are your opinions on the current rulers? by that, we mean her royal highness queen aveline adrianna hart and his royal highness king kalum marcus bellerose.
"his royal highness, king kalum is nothing but a great ruler. while he does have his flaws, his pros outweigh his cons greatly, compared to his higness aveline who's made it a name for herself to be blood thirsty and cruel."

nat snorts into the palm of his hand as katherine chucks a pillow at him as the two burst into laughter.

"wait, okay. i genuinely do believe that kalum tries his hardest to be the best ruler that he possibly can be for his people. he was forced into his role as the king so obviously, there are some things he's going to do to try and rebel but his loyalties ultimately lie with his citizens and mine lies with kalum so wherever he goes, whatever he does, i genuinely think it's of good intent and never of ill-will. her highness aveline, on the other hand, i have no personal recollection of how and who she is. all i hear are rumors and kalum believes that her highness is nothing short of a cruel dictator and thus, i think that way as well."

how do you think your ruler could do better? is there something about them you do or do not like?
"kalum, is a ." katherine starts off as august drops his quill in horror as she bursts into laughter before waving a hand, "i'm kidding, augie. redact that."

"where do i start? king kalum is a righteous ruler who tries his hardest to rule for the people, by the people and with the people... but, he's young. he earned the throne at a young age, because of the murder of our father, nonetheless. one grows into the throne slowly with practice and care and kalum was ed into the seat without a warning; however, i strongly approve of kalum as king, not being biased because i'm his little sister, and believe that he does well for the citizens of hajnal. the fire of the phoenix is entrusted to and in him for a reason.

all i hope — no, i know, that if war comes around, kalum sheds his boyish nature and guide our people with the charisma and leadership i know he has inside him."

how would you feel if aequor were to go to war with hajnal? how would that affect your life, would you contribute to the war in any way?
the air around katherine seems to drop in temperature slightly as both nathaniel and august look up from what they were doing to see a hardened gaze etched onto katherine's face.

"as the princess of hajnal," she starts, her tone taking on that of the one she uses around hajnal elders and aequor royalty, "it is my duty to make sure that our citizens are safe. while i trust the king to make decisions that would benefit our people in the future, as the princess of hajnal, i must contribute everything i can, even if it means costing my life, to ensure the safety and lives of our citizens."

loyalty to your kingdom should be valued above all. we believe there are... traitors in our kingdom. what are your thoughts on that?
"traitors are the backbone of tension between the two kingdoms. secrets are exposed, information is traded and things that clearly divide the kingdoms are blurred. kalum feels less strongly about this than i do but traitors, no matter the severity of their crime, should be punished through the full extent of the law; however, we are fair people so a trial must be given and if they are found guilty, should properly and fairly recieve their punishment."

august nods, finishing up his writing but katherine furrows her eyebrows, leaning back onto her couch with a sigh, "traitors should quietly leave and keep to themselves — if you dislike a kingdom so much, disavow them and move. there's no need to spread hostility amongst your neighbors and family."

well, thank you for your time. we will make sure your feedback will be considered while our monarch makes his/her decisions. have a nice evening, and glory to our kingdom.
"glory to our kingdom indeed." katherine hums, the edges of her lips curled upwards into slight amusement as august leaves the room with a bow.
