personality —
If you want something that can represent Do Taekwon's entire self in a short sentence, that would be a moody teenage attention . But shhhht, don't ever tell him that.
Taekwon lives for attention. He absolutely loves being in the center where all eyes are fixed on him. It makes him feel powerful, it makes him feel loved, and it makes him feel like a king. His reason for becoming an idol is exactly that - idols get tremendous amount of attention, fame and money. He will always be found in the center of the room, charming everyone with smiles, compliments and flirting... or at least trying to (he's old enough, dammit! He's not a kid anymore!). Combined with his immense desire to feel needed and loved, you can understand why being an idol fits perfectly for him. Alas, he was never that talented in singing or dancing. But he always has been persistant, and hard-working, and a try-hard. So, where he lacks in skill he will compensate with dedication.
He really is a persistant bastard. Never one to back down from something, the moment something catches his attention, he will do anything he can in order to achieve it. He's hard-working enough for that - sleep? What is sleep when you have goals to achieve. His ambitions are high - too high for his talent and skills, one might say - and he puts his blood, sweat and tears into them. Which isn't always good, to be honest. He's pretty much a try-hard. His inability to give up on certain things results in him losing a lot of time and effort that could've been put into other, more useful things. So yeah, Taekwon knows how to flip a bottle. Good for him. Real helpful. Those 93 hours could've gone into actual training.
Taekwon might look like a grown- man, but one cannot forget that he's a teenager still, no matter what he tries to tell you. And with being a teenager come certain... things. Being moody is one of them. You thought puberty was tough? Imagine dealing with it when you also have to train for hours at a time, deal with the constant competition and judgment, and be chased by the girls in your school because you're famous. Mood swings prone to happen. Sometimes Taekwon is really bitter, or really jealous or just plain hormonal. When it happens, he'll be your average teen thinking everyone in the world is against him. Teen drama will pursue. It won't be pretty, but it damn sure will be hillarious. He'd try to blame hormones, but in reality he's just temperamental with no way to let out steam properly. Being one of the younger guys in an enviroment where age is so. very. important. is tough enough. You need to be the perfect boy, there's no place to lose your temper because how dare you go against your hyungs!? So Taekwon can't really lose his . He can't get angry. He can't burst. So he gets bitter instead and grumpy and so very teenagey instead.
Another result of the damned process of puberty is the... . Taekwon is a growing man, who is surrounded by gorgeous singers, actresses and models. Every teen on planet Earth (especially a teen raised by none other than one Im Jong Un) would thank for such an opporunity. Taekwon is no different. He drools on any girl he sees, and flirts on every possible occasion, and if god is meciful and he gets the opportunity to smash... you damn right he'll smash. Ladies, beware.
His constant infatuation with the fair (And his way of dressing and acting. And his way of... just being) doesn't come only from him being a hormonal teen. Taekwon is rather impressionable, and has seen how the other male trainees and group members act around girls. Taekwon was impressed. He always wants to appear more mature, and in his head equalls maturity. His quest for maturity doesn't end there, though. He does anything that he can in order to appear older and more mature. Comic books and video games were long forgotten because they're not mature enough. Same with colorful way of dressing. Be it his looks, his way of acting, his entire persona - Taekwon wishes to be older (and that's why he's not too fond of the fact that he's one of the younger members of Surge. Aegyo isn't really his thing).
It doesn't end in girls and , of course. Imitating has practically become a coping mechanism. Almost half of his life was spent at P.S and with the other trainees, and even though he doesn't fully realize that, he was shaped by those people exactly. Jong's awful influnce had awarded him with his... tier side. Suhan had shown Taekwon hard work and salt and obsessiveness. Jaeok had taught him passion and temperament. When he was young and a wee child that had the immense desire to matter and be remembered despite his young age and lack of skills, Taekwon looked at others, saw what made them stand out, and he copied. He's his own person now, of course, but no one can deny the similarities. There are way too many people in Taekwon, his groupmates more than even his parents. Despite the fights and anger and everything, they are still family to Taekwon (perhaps even more than his actual parents, he doesn't really know). One can only wonder what the sculpture that is Do Taekwon will look like once he is done being shaped by s... or what might happen when half of them will be cast aside in favor of the other, and he will see the people that (reluctantly, very passively) raised him to the guy MAN he is today.
likes —
* Girls - if it wasn't already a given. He really does prefer older females, but will probably go for any girl he finds attractive, even if he says he won't.
* Being the center of attention
* Doing y, mature things on stage - please, no cute concepts. Taekwon would rather hump the floor and rip his shirt off.
* The fans - as someone who seeks attention all the time, Taekwon appreciates the people who choose to focus theirs on him. That's why his fan service is always top notch.
* Favorite idols include Lee Hyori, Hyuna, SNSD, Fiestar, Twice, Girls' Day, Mamamoo, EXID and 2PM (the only dudes who ever made him feel something).
* Parties - but mostly for the drunk girls. He's not that big a fan of drinking and partying himself, but damn... drunk girls are irresistable.
dislikes —
* Doing aegyo - ugh, he's a mature man. Why does he have to do that all the time. He will do it, especially if it's in order to get attention or to charm a girl, but he won't like it.
* Being ignored - he absolutely detests this feeling and will do anything to make people notice him.
* Public transportation - especially in Seoul. It's way too crowded and smelly and horrible and he hates every single moment when he has to take it.
* Jelly - such a weird texture. Nope. Just nope.
* Being told he's cute/young-looking/the maknae or in the maknae line/you get the idea - Taekwon tries his best to appear older and more mature. When he's reminded that he's actually not, he doesn't appreciate it.
* Being a teen in general - oh god, please let puberty pass at last. Just please. He's damn tired of being so hormonal and moody all the time.
funfacts —
* Flirting - be it for the cause of smashing or just plain simple fun, but Taekwon loves flirting. It just comes naturally to him - to the point of it becoming a habit - and a lot of times he doesn't even notice. He will even randomly (or not) flirt with fans, and they will go crazy for this fan service.
* Eye-ing - be it the camera or the girl standing in front of him, Taekwon tends to stare with such intensity and passion that you can feel his coming off him in waves.
* Dabbing - he can't help it. He's addicted. It's all the bottle-flipping, he just has to. Even if it's in 2018 and the trend has long since been gone, Taekwon will continue. And he'll enjoy every moment of it.
* Working out - he didn't like going to the gym at first, but seeing the way his body became more athletic and fit became kind of addicting. He can't see himself without gorgeous abs and thighs now. Plus, he actually enjoys it.
* is an actual hobby of his, yes.
* He's a (not-so) closet fanboy for all girl groups, and especially those with girls that are on his list. The internet is flooded with fancams of him fanboying over performances of girl groups. Boy groups? Who cares about those, Taekwon won't even look at them. Girl groups? Taekwon will jump around, scream the fan chants and lyrics and will fanboy so hard the other members will be embarrassed oh him. It's the teenage hormones.
* He still suffers from acne from time to time and stylists have to figure their way through that problem. All await until Taekwon finally completes puberty.
* His bodyrolls are LEGENDARY (as they should be, it took him forever to master them)
the story.
background —
Up until joining P.S, Taekwon's life was kind of standard and uneventful. Some might even say dull, but considering he was a child, what else can you really expect?
Born to a regular middle-class family in Ulsan, South Korea, it can be safely said that Do Taekwon's childhood wasn't harsh or especially eventful. He attended kindergarten, and then elementary school. During that time he went to a 2PM's concert with his parents, and Taekwon fell in love. Watching all the fans cheer and scream for the idols made Taekwon realize - this was how he wanted people to react to him. This is how he wanted his life to be.
He wanted to audition for SM Entertainment, but his parents were a bit more realistic and instead took him to a small company by the name of Park Studios. He was only 11 at the time, but the company saw potential in him and so he was accepted as a trainee.
He wishes that his life before becoming a trainee would've been more exciting, like Jong and Suhan's. Alas, being an eleven year old wimp in a new, scary enviroment is all he's got.
CONNECTIONS —
▪ Im Jong Un | The Dictator of his manly manly heart | Taekwon adores Jong and wants to be like him dearly. Alas, Jong, just like Suhan, don't care enough about him to even really know who it is. When Takewon first came to the company, he was immediately amazed by Jong - his skill, his charisma, his charm... a young, impressionable child, that was how Taekwon tried to survive training with all those older guys. Taekwon adopted to himself a similar way of dressing and acting. But even back as trainees Jong had no interest in Taekwon and didn't wish to even know who he is. Now, a few years later, Taekwon is still trying, but he has adopted a different tactic - if there's a girl Jong likes, Taekwon will be there first, charming and flirting with her. If there is a competition the Dictator wishes to win, Taekwon will do anything he can to beat him. He will honestly try to do anything, as long as Jong will finally pay attention to him and appreciate him. So far it didn't happen.
▪ Park Suhan | NOTICEMESENPAI | Probably the group member Taekwon seeks the most attention from, but unfortunately never gets it. He respects Suhan immensly and tries on every possible occasion to impress him. So far he's never been able to. He practices with Suhan on every single possible occasion, and tries to hang out with him, but the older guy never cares about Taekwon enough to actually feel something for him. But Taekwon is persistant. Taekwon keeps on trying.
love INTEREST — One??? You want him to settle for one???
▪ He goes for every and all women, but takes special joy in charming females that are older than him. The more mature, the better. The top is, of course, Lee Hyori. During interviews, he'll say that his ideal type is "A girl that sees me for the man I am, and loves me for it."
Taekwon does not settle. He conquers.
Instead of love interests, he has a list of female idols he wants to hook up with. While he's obviously a bit coughalotcough delusional about some coughallcough of them, the list is as follows:
Lee Hyori Hyuna Taeyeon Suzy
Nana Hwasa Hani Hyosung
Yura Seolhyun Kyungri Bora
These are, of course, only the main targets of Taekwon's list. But that doesn't mean he won't go for the lesser fish of the sea. He doesn't discriminate, after all.
(In reality, her age wouldn't matter. For all of his manly facade, if he'll ever fall for someone, he'll fall hard. Probably someone that doesn't take his or is so much better than he is. He'll probably end up getting his heart utterly smashed by her, too, but that's a problem for another day... or another story because I doubt you'll have time exploring that with 13 guys xD SO SMASH LIST IT IS)
the idol.
you're in a 13 member group. has this ever bothered you? — "Eeeh... Well, sure it has. I mean, who wouldn't be bothered by not getting enough attention," he starts, immeidately stopping himself. "N-Not that I'm complaining, of course!" He quickly corrects. Men don't complain, even though that is a bit ty. "It's... man, it's ups and downs, you know? Sometimes the hyungs are so ing annoying - eh, sorry, they're annoying, but sometimes it's really fun to be together. Some of them are, like, my bros. Like Jong-hyung can be a real pain in the , but at the end of the day he's like a brother to me."
do you think yourself better or worse than the other members that share your position? — "I have the best body." He says somewhat grumpily, because that's really all he can say. It's not like he can compare his skills to theirs. ing hell. "And I'm the best at bottle flipping - don't look at me like that, it's still a thing!!!!!"
did you involve yourself in any physical altercations? — "It was one time!" he immediately exclaims. "Okay, it was a couple of times, but it's not like we were actually fighting! It's a couple of guys messing around, that's what brothers do man! They were all going at it, and I wasn't just going to sit at the kids table while the grownups were partying it up!"
in group arguments, do you prefer to speak your mind or stay quiet? — "Not that it matters." His lips press into a firm line, and he folds his arms on his chest and huffs. "They never listen to me because I'm," he unfolds his hands and his fingers form quotation marks in the air, "Still young, Taekwon. Or leave it to the grownups Taekwon. Or who is this kid - that one was Jong-hyung, by the way. Yeah, I know. And you wonder why we fight."
you have a chance to start over somewhat in this new unit group. what changes will you make to yourself, if any? — "Uhh..." he tooks a moment to really think about it. "I'd give me more lines. And I'd make me center more often, because have you seen my stage presence? Fangirls go crazy every time I bodyroll. OH! And I'd add chicks to our mvs! Do you think we can get Lee Hyori?" He asks with hope in his eyes. "What? Why are you looking at me like that? Was that no to Lee Hyori? Can we please get Hyuna then????? What about Taeyeon??? Suzy????"
the end.
comments/suggestions — Enjoy the self-proclaimed international playboy, Taekwon Do.
scene request — You got this my lovely author <3
password — The more lines he has in a song, the better. If he gets to show off his abs, that's like an instant fave. (Energetic and Pretty Pretty, if he's being objective)
