▪ LUNATION'S RAQUELLE.
chorong glares. "she's not even that good."
the trainee allows a small scoff to appear on her face. "are you sure about that? I've heard lots of trainers say that mira's the best female rap trainee they've ever had."
"fine! she's good at rapping, but that's all she's got at. she's like a statue- stiff and expressionless. a bhudda maybe, since she's sooooo good at rapping, but that's it. she's a...a rap bhudda." sniggered chorong.
"hey gi, what do you think I should use for my stage name?" raquelle asked, leaning back on her chair and sighing in exasperation.
"why are you asking me? I thought you found gloss to be, what, tacky?" yoongi replied.
"eh, once I've gotten used to it, it has a nice ring to it." raquelle admitted, a sheepish grin on her face as she ducked the book yoongi threw at her.
"how about gleam? they both start with g and have similar meanings. you can also say that you want to shine with your music and ."
"that's... that's actually pretty decent. and awww, look at you, valuing our friendship so much you're using our stage names to symbolise it." teased raquelle, ducking another book.
although both of them don't use gloss or gleam anymore, they still call each other so.
circa 2012, bighit office.
leaning back on her elbows, raquelle makes a vague sound of agreement.
"does that mean mira is spice?" hoseok pipes. raquelle makes another vague sound, this time one of contempt while yoongi chokes on his water.
"please don't rope us together. we're just friends." he murmurs, wiping the water off his chin.
raquelle sits up. "what he said."
"yes, but we all know yoongi wants to be more than friends." taehyung snickers.
raquelle stares at yoongi's reddening face and says nothing. an awkward air hangs between them.
hoseok clears his throat. "well, anyways, we're calling you spice from now on, mira."
"seok, my personality is nowhere near spicy...oh, you're parodying how yoongi's stage name has nothing to do with him. aren't you hilarious."
spellbinder : founded and used by samuel.
raquelle and samuel snake their arms around each other's waists, drenching in the comfort. raquelle looks up, her chin slightly digging into his chest.
"you're just going to call me raquelle? no mushy nickname? I'm disappointed."
"well, I do have one, I"m just not sure if you'll like it." samuel bit his lip.
"I think I've always liked everything you produce, so this time won't be any different."
"well... you know how I told you I was drawn to you the first time I saw you perform? it was...enchanting- exhilarating, even. it was like... a spell, and you quelled, pun intended, all my negative emotions that day and honestly I was only filled with appreciation."
raquelle blinked. "holy , that's cheesy, but go on."
"it was like... I was spellbound, so I sort of saved you as spellbinder on my phone." seeing raquelle's expression, he hurriedly added, "okay, yeah, that was ty, I'll-"
he's cut off with a kiss.
korean : as a third generation korean-american, even raquelle's parents were used to english more than korean. and thus raquelle spent her childhood only knowing the korean basics. when she moved to daegu, she struggled with the language, and developed a daegu accent. that's why she was shell-shocked when she arrived in seoul and needed to start learning yet another dialect. nowadays, she sounds like any other seoulite but sometimes still slips back into her original accent. she can listen and speak perfectly but is slow at reading and writing.
english : there's a certain reason raquelle is always the one addressing international fans, and that's because of how much she still sounds american. she's still up to date with slang and hasn't let her frequent use of korean ruin her accent as she contacts her family and american friends frequently. she is fluent in speaking, writing, reading and listening.
so I was browsing the potential trainee profiles for bighit's new girl group... this is kwon mira or raquelle, and she's a rap trainee but she totally looks like an actress, no?? I watched some clips of her online and her proportions are so good she looks way taller than 167... she looks like she's over 170? but she looks really really thin though, her waist looks like it'll snap at any moment and it's kind of worrying. she walks with really bad posture too, she slouches and she drags her heels when she walks.
she's also really good at rapping and can speak english really well. she actually debuted in 2011 as underground rapper gleam and released tracks with bts' suga. please support raquelle!!!
[+198,-12] 167cm and 47kg??? that's super unhealthy, what is bighit doing??
[+176,-23] hul, her smile and nose are super pretty... but I searched up her predebut pictures and she hasn't had any plastic surgery
[+188,-34] her figure is really nice too. you can see her curves even when she's wearing oversized shirts.
[+172,-4] ... pretty.... she should just debut as an actress, why waste time being an idol?
[+78, -52] I think she's too pretty to be a good rapper lol
[+67, -45] I watch the show and to be honest she always has this resting face and gives off a really rude aura...

dislikes: people who undermine her skills because of her looks, emotions, the flickering fear of being abandoned, losing her temper, ballads, bright colours that hurt her eyes, spring onions, cooking despite being decent at it.
social media accounts: @gleam_x ( predebut instagram handle, had around 17k followers ), @raquellekwon_ ( instagram handle after debut, bio simply says 'lunation.', 108k followers and growing ), @hlvwhoieh ( her new kakaotalk, she got the username from mashing her fingers on the keyboard, because she didn't want sasaengs finding her too easily ).
she swears a whole lot. like, way too much. walk past her and the bts boys and you'll hear a flurry of foul language that would make you uncomfortable.
huge fangirl of giriboy, if that wasn't obvious. also really likes bizzy, basick, cjamm, verbal jint, yaeji, garion, donutman, beenzino, blackbear and logic. when asked for her ideal type on shows, she says giriboy. idol groups she likes are nine muses ( there was a gif trending on pann showing her jaw dropping when she saw jo sojin at a music show ) , 100%, vermuda, bigbang, bts and oh my girl.
as one fo the few older trainees who've trained the longest, many deem her the mom - that is, when she isn't screaming off her head during arguments. she's the type to slip you some teabags and leave a hot water bottle on your bag when she notices you wincing in pain.
her sole variety talent is voice imitation of actors jang hyuk, jung woosung and song kangho. but she's not boring - she snipes back at the hosts with a straight face and often causes uproarious laughter with her reponses.
doesn't hate her mom, to be honest. she knows postpartum depression can be hard. she's announced her background on shows and public pleaded for her mom to get in contact with her but she's only gotten lots of scammers.
was a stellar student at school with straight a's except in maths. she was admitted to ewha girls' high school after arriving in seoul and her grades stayed stellar because she wasn't training then, so her father was even more supportive of her path - if she failed as a rapper, she'd still have a way out. she is now currently admitted into ehwa womens' university majoring in literature, but is on leave.
has really pretty handwriting, so she keeps a bullet journal just for the plain satisfaction she gets from looking through it. when she focuses on her work, she plugs in earphones, puts on her glasses and works for hours without a break - the type to finish things in one go instead of dragging a task over days.
has a high alcohol tolerance, and utilises it. you have no idea how many times she's the only one standing after a night at a pojangmacha and swiped namjoon or seokjins' wallets to pay. shh, don't tell them.
is demiromantic and heteroual. she'll fall for someone only if they have a deep emotional connection but will glady take a male stranger home for a one night stand.
has literally no friends left from her days in america, but when she opened her own instagram and searched her closest friends up and followed them, they dmed her and so they've reconnected. for them, she's downloaded snapchat but still mainly uses kakaotalk herself.
actually can do really good aegyo, just won't show you. ever. unless she's drunk. and when she's drunk, you'll witness half an hour of raquelle going very mushy before blacking out. she still drinks a lot though, but stops when she feels herself getting drunk.
can play the cello, because her dad taught young children the cello on weekends. was pretty good at it, but hasn't played one in years.
bighit does not starve her, she just constantly has a small appetite and fast metabolism.
min yoongi
circa 2005, daegu. the teacher tells her to go sit at the only empty desk, and the boy there is intimidating, or as raquelle can see, trying to be. he stares at her with hooded eyes that are trying their best to hide their curiousity. raquelle tries not to laugh, and sticks her hand out. "raquelle kwon mira. call me mira." the boy nods curtly. "min yoongi."
raquelle doesn't quite remember or understand how and why two people who don't like talking became best friends, but that was just what happened - the two clicked, and raquelle just felt... at home whenever yoongi was around. the two were so close everyone was sure they were dating despite constant denial and after a while they just... stopped denying it, cementing the rumours. the two are most comfortable with each other and can understand what the other is thinking with just a simple glance.
did raquelle ever have a crush on yoongi? yes. hell, she was irrevocably in love with him - it was one of the reasons she went to seoul, really. she loved how his hugs felt the safest, how his smiles around her were wider and happier than when he was around people, how he hovered near her every time she wrote lyrics. however, she knew that his priorities were music and she couldn't bring herself to distract himself - she could feel that yoongi returned her sentiments, but alas, the right person at the wrong timing.
her feelings for yoongi have gradually subsided and now she just feels that he's her soulmate, just not romantically. yoongi, however, is still head over heels, and the bts boys like poking fun at it, not knowing how touchy the topic is for the two of them. the two don't really talk a lot, they just like to sit there and bask in each other's company. when they do talk, they talk about everything from light topics to dark secrets till dawn, where raquelle will probably fall asleep on yoongi's shoulder and the male sits there stiff as a statue so she doesn't wake up.
shim chorong
ah yes, bighit's self-proclaimed golden girl. hate can be defined by raquelle and chorongs' relationship. the first time raquelle rapped in front of the others, she let her guard down and messed up by forgetting her lyrics for a few seconds - granted, it was definitely her problem for looking down on the other trainees because she was so confident in her abilities, but then shim chorong just had to walk up and smirk "unnie, if you say you're a rapper, why aren't you as good as me?"
imagine how happy raquelle felt when the next trainee evaluation rolled around and bang pg happily complimented raquelle, saying "mira, from what you showed me today, you're the best female rap trainee I've ever had." raquelle turned around and smiled at a fuming chorong, and that is how the worst rivalry ever found at bighit started.
the two always darken their faces and stand rigidly when they're in the same room together and often snipe at each other before another full blown fight breaks out, screamed words flying at each other as chorong tries to grab raquelle's hair ( but fails to do so, and raquelle chortles at how short the younger is ) as raquelle bats her hands away easily. chorong is usually the one who starts the fights, to the exasperation of other trainees.
you wouldn't believe raquelle if she said she doesn't hate chorong. she dislikes the girl, yes, but respects her abilities and likes having this motivation to rap better and better. she's willing to go over their differences, but chorong shoots her a death glare every time they cross paths and raquelle just sighs inwardly. it doesn't help that yoongi is chorong's cousin and yet shuts chorong up whenever she complains about raquelle to him - he thinks she's being terribly immature.
guk rhujin
rhujin is why raquelle is deemed mom by some of the trainees. maybe it was her bubbly demeanour and how she radiated innocence, but raquelle just felt this surge of affection the first time they met and took it upon herself to care for the girl who seemed to be everybody but at the same time nobody's friend. rhujin's pragmatism and independence sort of made raquelle feel like she was staring at a less fiery, younger version of herself - which probably amounte to her affinity for the girl.
hover.
training was hard. vocal classes were fine, the trainers knew she was a rapper and only wanted her to sound stable- her voice colour was special and fans would eat that up even if she wasn't a good singer. rap classes were a piece of cake, but ah, dancing. raquelle could not dance. her moves lacked strength and she needed a long time to remember the steps. when she got the hang of the dance, her expressions were so dark the trainers had to stop her routine.
with her looks, rapping skills and decent singing, she would have been a perfect candidate for debut. however, since her dancing was terrible, many trainees didn't see her as a threat. but because she wasn't the friendly type, she just... existed. she had friends, but no one she was especially close to. she was known as a great rapper, but not a threat. she was just... there.
that's why everyone was shocked when it was announced that raquelle was in the lineup for the new girl group, then named pink punk. people couldn't believe such a terrible dancer could have the chance to debut. that was when the bullying started - subtle pushes in the corridors to 'accidentally' pouring water on her - any kdrama bullying cliché, you name it, raquelle probably endured it. this is why she had such a ty temper at bighit at first - she was scarred from her experience at yg. she wanted to defend herself from any possible bullying.
when she was pulled from the lineup, she was mainly devastated, but a small, small part of her was relieved. she told yoongi, who was on tour and was ty at replying to messages, and spent a few days just milling about, enjoying the peace and quiet. the bullying at yg didn't deter her from chasing her dream though, as she knew that she was good enough and wanted to make it.
yoongi brought her straight to bang pd as soon as he touched down in seoul when he
without missing a beat, she pulled out her phone, chose a beat and launched into basick's gxnzi. her rap was top notch as usal; her flow, tone and voice colour successfully appealed to bang pd and yoongi sighed in relief at the older male's tiny smile of approval. after that, she started rapping her own everyday. it was short, but it was powerful, and that was that. she was accepted and promptly began training.
her resting face and sharp words irked lots of people and she started off on the most terrible foot at bighit. the loneliness pained her, but in her defense it was better than facing physical pain from other people. it got better over the months when she realised bighit trainees were nicer in general, so she's started to get more friends and waves in the corridor. however, she would still choose spending a day with the bts boys in their practice room, forcing hoseok to teach her dancing than with the others.
her years at yg have paid off, as she's now considered an average dancer at bighit. she still, however struggles to learn complicated choreographies and tends to lose strength towards the end of songs.
2014 appeared in epik high's born hater music video.
2014 appeared in winner's empty music video.
2015 appeared in bigbang's let's not fall in love music video.
2016 appeared in show me the money 5 with bang pd's approval and made it to the 1vs1 battles before being eliminated by seo chulgu. she was sad, but also really damn honoured.
2016 appeared in bts love yourself highlight reel.
literally the first thing to surface after lunation's debut, this struck the group hard as the negative comments from armys flooded in. it wasn't true, but the posts from their daegu classmates only made things worse. it didn't help that they lived together before bighit started providing a dorm for yoongi, so people started posting that they remembered seeing the two live together. to put it simply, went down. bighit refuted the rumours by saying that they were childhood best friends, but there are still lots of shippers - and haters out there.
[+530, -978] but they match though?? both are visually attractive and good rappers.... we shouldn't interfere with who they want to date.
[+634, -589] hul they lived together.... do you see this stupid fangirls? your oppas and unnies aren't as clean and pure as you think.
[+712, -342] suga can do better.
[+890, -893] they totally did it.
[+456, -623] she's not even a good rapper, who does she think she is?
[+784, -312] mira-ah, being a good rapper doesn't excuse bad behaviour and attitude
[+545, -476] all hiphop people are trash.......
[+345, -489] wow haters really can go to any length just to bash my girls
[+563, -523] who????? nugu?????
[+472, -231] wasn't the girl dating suga??
[+213, -223] hul mira went from top star suga to.... nugu???
[+764, -435] this is so obvious, they can't deny this....
[+376, -213] I guess she dumped suga then. this is solid proof, they can't deny this...
"donghyun is... an enigma. he's ing weird - I'm sure that's what pretty much everything thinks when they first meet him. he seems like he's stuck in his own world, with his head in the clouds, but that's not it. he puts his music above everything, and that's why he seems like he's always somewhere else, because he's always thinking. usually about music, but he just thinks a lot in general. he's actually really observant, taking in every detail around him without making it obvious. he notices every subtle change and ends up being a really sensitive person. no, seriously, he fits the stereotype of a woman on her period. he doesn't exactly explode in anger, but you can feel the cynicism and the distaste radiating from him. it doesn't help that he has really high expectations for both himself and the people around him, and he tends to try to make everyone live up to his standards - but if you scream at him for being too overbearing, he'll snap out of it. his perfectionistic tendencies clash greatly with his impatience, as in, he wants everything to be in tip top shape but doesn't give anyone or anything the time to conform to his standards.
I realise I've made him sound like a complete , but donghyun - don't call him that, he doesn't like other people calling him his birth name - is one of the best people I've ever met in my life. he's so expectant because he sees the best in people. he's able to assess people and be spot on their abilities and personality by the end of their first meeting, and he wants to be the catalyst for their success, plainly because he likes seeing people around him happy, and will do anything to ensure that they are. his genuine nature shines through all the time, and that's one of the things I love most about him. how he tells you that he doesn't care, but his eyes shine with constellations. he knows what's important to him and I love how he's still chasing after what he wants relentlessly, how he emanates the earnest emotions of a five year boy whenever he's doing what he loves. he's the type to be gruff and prickly when you get down with a cold, you know the type who berates you for not wearing enough clothes and not taking good care of yourself as he bumbles around making honey tea and fluffing out your blankets? that's the type of guy he is."
— raquelle on samuel, or as she likes to affectionately call him, donghyun.
she was also silently stewing over the fact that she had gotten zero inspiration despite sungbin promising she'd meet other musicians that would help her. but that all disappeared when he started singing. after he finished his song, raquelle performed her own song and after swiping sungbin's card to pay and hauling everyone into taxis, they spent the rest of the night at a pojangmacha, and that was how they ended up being each other's muses. they weren't head over heels with another or anything - raquelle still loved yoongi and samuel was too busy with his music to think about anything else.
they ended up always meeting each other at the nearest convenience store, talking over ramen and instant ddeokbokki. you know that one friend where you meet and you just click? samuel was that friend for raquelle. it wasn't long before they started opening up and sharing secrets, and when mira transferred to bighit, she found herself ranting about the training to samuel more than she did to yoongi. with him, raquelle felt safe and light - he made her laugh and vice versa. she felt herself slowly falling for samuel - to both her relief and horror. relief that she was finally moving on from yoongi, and horror that romance was blooming for her again because god, she just wanted to rap. they were drinking soju one night ( or at least, samuel was and raquelle was just holding the bottle because she didn't want to be bloated and hungover for training the next day ) and samuel ended up spewing the cheesiest confession ever.
"what?"
"you know how I always say you're my muse? I mean it. not just because you rap like a monster and inspire me to produce better beats, but you brighten up my life as well."
raquelle stares at samuel, hanging open.
"can you be my muse, forever?"
raquelle practically jumps on samuel, kissing him so hard the convenience store clerk averts his glance.
he didn't like projecting his affection vocally, but would hold raquelle's head for half an hour if she fell asleep. if raquelle woke up and berated him for straining his arm like that, he'd just announce that he wasn't tired but massage his arm when he thought raquelle wasn't looking. one "I'm hungry but I don't want to move" has samuel springing up and cooking up something for raquelle. with him, raquelle doesn't feel her heart quicken or her breath catch - but she feels secure and happy. it's the light happiness that courses through her every time samuel takes off his rings to grip her hands in his that lets her know he's the one.
both of them are introverted so they don't chat a lot, but the silence between them is never awkward. it's comfortable and the love hangs between them as raquelle sleeps on samuel's lap as he plays with her hair. however, because of how much they care for each other, they swallow any problems they have and lack communication. raquelle knows this will be a problem, but the day hasn't come yet, so she runs from it.
and maybe get a solo debut and get to collab with giriboy??
idk yet we'll see!! I'm really dizzy rn
