ㅤㅤㅤㅤMO RAN IS TESSELLATING.
PEPE_페페 : and by pepe, siwon doesn't mean the footballer - she means the frog. while most note that ran's full name moran literally means the flower peony, they'd only compliment the beautiful meaning or raise an amused brow. but not siwon. the first time the two met and ran had shot a demure smile and introduced herself, siwon had grinned "moran? as in, the flower?" ran had nodded, and siwon's grin spread a little wider. "so, peony? that's great, can I call you pepe?" ran used to hate the nickname but has gradually grown to like it. she now thinks it's pretty cute and doesn't mind the fact all the tessellate members are using it- if only people would stop thinking it's because she looks like the meme before debut.
PEEONME : tessellate went drinking. they got drunk. siwon got very, very drunk. the nickname is still tossed out when the members are joking around, but it's more of used as a funny anecdote to share on variety shows.
RACH/CHEL/RANRAN : common nicknames used by those in her social circle.
gentle and soothing, her speaking voice is something that gives the fans shivers. modulated and feminine, her speaking speed is a little bit slower than average, and every time she speaks people end up just agreeing with her because her voice is just that bewitching.
KOREAN : even though ran spent most of her childhood in new york, she still considers korean her mothertongue, as she's better at korean than she is at english and her parents always spoke it to her at home. thus, ran can speak with a seoul accent, read, write and listen perfectly well and is up to date with all the slang.
ENGLISH : ran's english has a strong bronx accent and she sounds fluent, but anyone can hear her grammar is off, she uses the wrong words sometimes and she hesitates before speaking because she has to fully formulate her sentences before speaking. she can speak and listen just fine, but is slow at writing and reading. her english is still better than most of tessellate's members though, but nowhere as good as siwon's.

if you just say the words intj "the architect", chaotic neutral/neutral evil

everyone's god is a liar.
everyone's face is a mask.
ah yes, one of the most popular trainees on tessellate despite being regarded as uselesss by haters - rachel mo ran. but how can you hate her? fans cry, she's so terribly nice!
after all, it’s true that every time the public come across ran, they see a motherly figure who showers her fellow members with nothing but love and care, they see all the trainees flocking towards ran for advice and support, they see ran crying her heart out because she’s so insecure about her abilities. most netizens turn to the comments to write long-winded messages of encouragement, telling ran to find strength and walk on a flowery road.
and at the dorms, ran scrolls through the comments, trying to force down a snort at how people are so easily deceived by her acting. in truth, ran is a manipulative and cunning . in order to climb the rungs of the social ladder, she will stop at nothing and has no qualms at abandoning people - doesn’t matter whether they’re mere friends or people who’ve saved her life - if she sees no use in you anymore, she will leave you. she sees everyone around her as steps to fame and money and knows how to utilise her words to make you do her bidding without even realising so. “why did you keep correcting my choreography when you knew it’d make me extremely nervous in front of the trainers and mess up?” a trainee would ask. tears would well up in ran’s eyes as she apologises profusely, lips trembling as she stutters “I- I- I just wanted you to perform better in front of them- I forgot you’d get nervous… I’m so so so sorry…” and as soon as the trainee leaves the room, ran’s tears would stop and she’d sneer in disgust but turn on the waterworks when people come around to comfort her.
and oh, look at the sheer number of people who hustle into the room to offer their shoulders. why is that, you ask? it's probably got to do with how a warm, welcoming smile is always, always on ran's face without fail, how her arms are so comforting whenever she hugs another crying trainee, how soothing her words of support are. in the eyes of many, ran is almost perfect: she's pretty, she's overwhelmingly kind, she's from a well-off family, but no one has the heart to hate her because, god, she's just so damn nice. she's always thinking ahead and acts impartially, listening to everyone and always there to give a helping hand. she's observant and notices every flicker of nerves and every hint of tension, silently remembering every strength and weakness of the people around her so she can use them to her comfort.
no, ran is not a sadist. she has it in herself to genuinely like people and treat them well because that's how she originally is - there are some people who she has affection for at bighit - it's just that if she has to choose between them and achieving her goal, she'd choose the latter.
march 23rd. mo ran is born to two second generation korean americans.
1992-1996.
her childhood is placid, normal. happy, she supposes, but most children are. dad drinks more than other dads do, and sometimes he blames ran, but mom assures her that dad is just really tired and sad that he lost an arm and doesn't mean it.
1997.
june 24th. ran remembers the day quite clearly. it was dad's birthday, and mom had insisted her take the day off - that she would pick raquelle up from school. the child had been told she'd just play at school for a bit and her mom would come to pick her up around five. mom usually arrived home at nine, and ran was over the moon. she was even happier when mom appeared at four, grinning and saying she couldn't wait. the day would have been perfect if they didn't go home to find dad in bed with another woman.
1998.
september 8th. ran hates, hates, hates the constant arguments that trickle into her room when her parents think she's alseep. she winces at the flurries of dirty language thrown, and can't help but cry when she hears furniture breaking.
1999.
everything remains the same. dad drinks a lot every day and rarely returns home. sometimes he's very very nice to ran, sometimes mom comes home to see her daughter, bruised, shaking and terrified.
ran goes from typical asian super student to nameless nobody at school. people begin ridiculing her, some slam her into lockers, some push her books out of her hands. she arrives home crying, only to find an empty household.
2000.
march 3rd. mom has tried, and has given up. she leaves a pile of papers on the kitchen table. the papers are filled with jargon ran doesn't understand, but she understands mom's sunken cheeks and pained eyes. she asks whether she wants to join her. she nods. the next morning dad calls, screaming and threatening legal action, but mom is sure she'll get custody. they move from a quaint house to a small apartment near mom's company. ran doesn't have her toys with her, but that's okay. as long as she won't get hurt again. things are looking better. she still suffers from ocassional racism. her grades aren't as stellar as they used to be. but she has a few close friends, she doesn't cause any trouble, and she is content. after dragging out the divorce process, dad is finally defeated. mom is granted full custody. ran is overjoyed.
2001.
february 27th. ran and her mother arrive in korea, and her grandmother is there to pick them up. she frets over the both of them worriedly, and ran loves how warm the older woman's hugs are.
march 6th. she enters school as a new student. she makes new friends, and her mom is elated to see her daughter being happier and more cheerful than ever. she is still an introverted soul, but is loved by many for her motherly behaviour. mom is worried about the manipulative tendencies she sees ( "tianna was screaming at me today but I made her feel like it was her fault...") she'd hear her talking into the phone) , but dismisses her worries.
2007.
june 7. ran is watching m! countdown and spies new band ft island performing their debut song lovesick. ran is hooked.
more in trainee history.
TRIVIA
dislikes: people who undermine her skills because of her looks, emotions, the flickering fear of being abandoned, losing her temper, ballads, bright colours that hurt her eyes, spring onions, cooking despite being decent at it.
social media accounts: tssllt.mora ( instagram handle, 102k followers ), pepepeeonme ( private instagram, handle recently changed, 43 followers ), rachelmooooox ( snapchat, private ), nrgknfkne ( her newest kkt account after fans found her old one. she literally just mashed her fingers on the keyboard. )
as one fo the few older trainees who've trained the longest, many deem her the mom. she's the type to slip you some teabags and leave a hot water bottle on your bag when she notices you wincing in pain.
her sole variety talent is voice imitation of actors jang hyuk, jung woosung and song kangho. other than that, she's boring.
has really pretty handwriting, so she keeps a bullet journal just for the plain satisfaction she gets from looking through it. when she focuses on her work, she plugs in earphones, puts on her glasses and works for hours without a break - the type to finish things in one go instead of dragging a task over days.
has really high alcohol tolerance.
is demiromantic and heteroual. she'll fall for someone only if they have a deep emotional connection but will glady take a male stranger home for a one night stand.
has literally no friends left from her days in america, but when she opened her own instagram and searched her closest friends up and followed them, they dmed her and so they've reconnected. for them, she's downloaded snapchat but still mainly uses kakaotalk herself.
really good at aegyo and is always requested to do some on shows because that might as well be the only thing she's good at. doesn't like it though.
bighit does not starve her, she just constantly has a small appetite and fast metabolism.
she really wants to try acting as well, and her acting instructor has said she's really good at it - which isn't a surprise, considering she acts in her daily life.
since birth, ran's ankles have always been pronated, meaning that they bend inwards. due to years of not treating it, it's gotten worse and so she can't wear high heels with thin heels. as in, she can wear platform heels but won't be able to balance on stilettos. although it doesn't affect her walking and it doesn't hurt, she still wants surgery.
ran is always biting herself when she eats so she has little swollen wounds around the opening of and so she eats slowly because she doesn't want to hurt herself.
has had her fair share of crushes, but hasn't dated because she hasn't had the time.
INTRODUCTION debut "hello, I'm tessellate's flower who will bloom with many charms, mora!"
present "hello, I'm tessellate's peony, mora!"
ran first auditioned at fnc entertainment in 2008 with the foolish thought of meeting ft island in the flesh, but was promptly rejected for her terrible singing. she didn't give up though, and attended singing lessons. the instructor point blank told her she wasn't talented in performing, but ran paid no attention - not just because of her love for the group, but also because she had genuinely come to like the art.
she tried again in 2009 and made it to the final round, but was eliminated again. in 2010, she tried again, this time choosing a light love song. the judges found her to be very... average in all aspects, but chose to take her in as ran had grown to be a very pretty face by then. they hoped to cultivate her talents by training.
unfortunately, ran just wasn't cut out for being an idol. she was just alright in singing, just alright in rapping, and sometimes got yelled at during dance lessons for screwing up the choreography. even the fact she was a pretty face couldn't shield her - but fnc put her in the lineup for their new girl group anyways.
and that was how the bullying started. subtle pushes in the corridor to 'accidentally' pouring hot soup on her in the cafeteria - any kdrama bullying cliché, you name it, ran probably lived through it. this is when ran resolved to toughen up and get used to the industry. when she got into a huge catfight with another trainee who had almost pushed her down the stairs, she got booted from the company.
that only made her even more determined to get famous - to be more successful than those who had tried to bring her down. so she tried her hand at every other entertainment company. and I mean every, from top-tier yg to the no-name histar entertainment. she was accepted to a few, but chose bighit, due to the news then that 2am recently signed to them and it felt like a middle-sized company which would give her good chances.
she just didn't expect bighit to debut a girl group in 2012 or that so many other actually talented young girls were in the company. so when she was placed in the lineup for glam but pulled shortly thereafter due to her lack of talent, she wasn't even surprised or angry. just... defeated, because she knew she was getting old and that she couldn't leave the company right after signing a trainee contract.
trainee life wasn't too hard, but wasn't too easy for her either. her training at fnc had made her a good trainee, but that was it. she was fairly stable at singing and probably could sing better than a good eighty percent of idol singers, she danced pretty well despite sometimes forgetting her choreography, and she could even follow raps well. as in, she'd be able to rap something from a demo song, but can't just up and freestyle to a beat or write her own lyrics.
and that was it. mo ran was a good trainee, but she wasn't special. and in order to debut, you had to be special. when she started to notice the decreasing number of trainees and glam's lack of success, she grew desperate. she began to spread rumours about other trainees ( and gave them a shoulder to cry on ), she began to put on a show, crying about bullying whenever people just lost their temper.
and so when people started leaving due to bighit's bankruptcy, ran was somehow one of the last few standing, despite being not as good as the others. bighit comforts themselves that although ran isn't as gifted, she's better than most idols out there - and hey, she's ing gorgeous and has a personality male fans eat up.
probably worth noting that ran has a very, very large social circle - she just doesn't find them especially important. the following are people who will quite definitely appear if we're talking about ran. some of the idols she considers to be acquaintances are kim yukwon of block b, kim ahyoung of girl's day, kim seokjin of bts, park jaehyung of day6, oh seunghee of clc, choi hyunggeun of snuper, heo sooyeon of dia, soloist lee sunmi and soloist kwon hyuk. to the public, jaehyung and ran are #bestfriendgoals. to ran, jaehyung is someone she would consider not abandoning.
ahn siwon is someone who ran disliked greatly at first. she still put on a smile and let siwon call her the nickname she detested while she seethed inside. however as time passed, she grew fond of the girl's laidback personality and genuinely considers siwon to be a dear companion - especially since she knows that it's better to have a friend in tessellate to back her up. she sometimes finds herself laughing her head off at siwon's jokes and then catching herself. she reminds herself to keep her barriers up but can't help treating siwon as a genuine friend.
jillian moon is someone whose natural girliness irks ran to no end - she's not even sure why. she can feel that jillian isn't faking anything but perhaps her naivety contrasts with ran's jaded view so much ran feels inferior when next to the younger girl. jillian is so much more talented than she is, so fragile and...cute. to put it simply, ran is envious of jillian and finds it amusing that the latter always turns to herself for advice.
kim namjoon might as well be the only other person ran genuinely likes in bighit other than siwon. there's the simple reason that namjoon has received so much hate throughout his career he is as guarded as ran is and so the two share a very similar viewpoint. he won't manipulate people, but ran finds some sort of solace when she's with namjoon. their mature personalities that strike the fans as fatherly/motherly also bring them together. in short, they're highly similar and thus mold together pretty well. their friendship consists of sitting together in silence as they use their phones or sudden deep talks in the middle of the night. there is no in between.
PERSONALITY
haters get the bird prioritzed, genuine, calm, meitculous
nonchalant, sardonic, perfectionistic, impatient more like an eagle
this is my movie infj "the advocate", chaotic neutral
deadpan snarker, jerk with a heart of gold, good is not nice so stay tuned for the sequel
"junnie is... an enigma. he's ing weird - I'm sure that's what pretty much everything thinks when they first meet him. he seems like he's stuck in his own world, with his head in the clouds, but that's not it. he puts his music above everything, and that's why he seems like he's always somewhere else, because he's always thinking. usually about music, but he just thinks a lot in general. he's actually really observant, taking in every detail around him without making it obvious. he notices every subtle change and ends up being a really sensitive person. no, seriously, he fits the stereotype of a woman on her period. he doesn't exactly explode in anger, but you can feel the cynicism and the distaste radiating from him. it doesn't help that he has really high expectations for both himself and the people around him, and he tends to try to make everyone live up to his standards - but if you scream at him for being too overbearing, he'll snap out of it. his perfectionistic tendencies clash greatly with his impatience, as in, he wants everything to be in tip top shape but doesn't give anyone or anything the time to conform to his standards.
I realise I've made him sound like a complete , but junnie - don't call him that, he doesn't like other people calling him this - is one of the best people I've ever met in my life. he's so expectant because he sees the best in people. he's able to assess people and be spot on their abilities and personality by the end of their first meeting, and he wants to be the catalyst for their success, plainly because he likes seeing people around him happy, and will do anything to ensure that they are. his genuine nature shines through all the time, and that's one of the things I love most about him. how he tells you that he doesn't care, but his eyes shine with constellations. he knows what's important to him and I love how he's still chasing after what he wants relentlessly, how he emanates the earnest emotions of a five year boy whenever he's doing what he loves. he's the type to be gruff and prickly when you get down with a cold, you know the type who berates you for not wearing enough clothes and not taking good care of yourself as he bumbles around making honey tea and fluffing out your blankets? that's the type of guy he is."
— ran on junseo, or as she likes to affectionately call him, junnie.
dislikes: korean ballads, showing emotions, bright colours, black truffle, kimchi or spicy food in general, crowded places.
a music producer with the producer name north.west because of his name, nam junseo. his producer tag is a computer generated voice going "n-n-n-northwest". think london noise's tag.
has had his fair share of girlfriends, but most of them ended up with the girl finding him an and breaking up with him.
his songs are pretty distinct. one listen and most fans know that it's a north.west song because they usually sound "dark and grungey". that doesn't mean all his songs are dark, but they're never generic.
raps on the side and has featured in some tracks. he finds it fun but doesn't plan on making a career out of it.
either churns out four songs in a week or goes through one whole damn month without producing anything, hence his financial unstability.
he's very tall at 193cm but is annoyingly lanky because he doesn't like to exercise. fortunately, he knows how to dress and has a visually appealing face so lots still regard him as attractive.
you know the type of tall guys who wears trench coats and turtlenecks? that's junseo for you.
they call each other rannie and junnie. it annoys everyone else, but they don't care, and both have matching wallpapers of their shadows holding hands, eliciting annoyed groans from both tessellate members and junseo's friends..
ran has a whole photo album dedicated to junseo, but it's titled with a emoji just because she finds it amusing. she even saves pictures that his record label posts. it's embarrassing.
when asked on shows, ran states that her ideal type is lee hongki. after the show airs, she usually receives a slew of pouting stickets from junseo.
which brings me to the fact that junseo is completely different from the cold and chic image he portrays usually. he amps up the aegyo and is surprisingly clingy. there have been instances where ran was using her phone and junseo literally shoved his head between ran's face and her phone as he wailed that his rannie was ignoring him. his friends spit soju out the first time junseo introduced ran to them and they saw how junseo was behaving.
one huge problem in this relationship is the severe lack of communication. because they don't want to hurt each other in any way, they tend to swallow down every problem they find or just anything negative in general. it explodes during arguments, and the aftermaths are never pretty. junseo always apologises first though - some find this whipped junseo cute, others find this relationship unhealthy. ran doesn't manipulate junseo - she loves him to do so, but she's constanty scared she's subconsciously doing it and is always walking on eggshells.
junseo was the main producer for talk talk on tessellate's debut album and despite numerous tries, ran wasn't able to capture the feel junseo wanted for the song. so he made her try again and again and again even after the other members had left already. despite swearing up a storm in her mind, ran remained pleasant throughout the recording and bowed a ninety degrees when she was finally able to leave.
"that was a good front you put up." junseo commented. ran froze but smiled sweetly. "I'm sorry, junseo-ssi, I have no idea what you're talking about." with that, she turned around and left, prompting a small smile of amusement to appear on the male's face.
it unnerved ran how junseo saw right through her the very first time they met, and she resolved to get closer to him to get on his good side so she could stop anyone from pulling off her mask. junseo, on the other hand, was very interested in just how fake the girl could be - she felt so perfect he was sure she was hiding something, and he was determined to find out what it was.
so he misused his authority by singling out ran for vocal instructing. he wasn't a good singer, but he told bighit he'd teach her theories so she could become an even better singer. slowly, he saw through the cracks of ran's façade and hinted at what he knew.
ran, as furious as she was, didn't want to give junseo the satisfaction of seeing her act. so she slowly dropped her act in front of junseo, ranting about how damn annoying jillian was or how the producer of the group was acting like she was better than everyone else.
junseo found himself listening without protests, and soon, to his own horror, found himself attracted to the girl. he realised it when ran stumbled upon the reason she got kicked out of fnc, tears welling up and her voice drifting before the determination set in her face and she changed the topic to how she doesn't understand why chanmi is a part of aoa. he relished in how jaded she was and had the urge to protect her from the world. and it showed.
hie eyes softened whenever he looked at ran and a nervous frown from ran would quell his temper when siwon wasn't singing well enough for his taste. ran noticed his affection and was shocked that someone would like her despite how jaded she was - it wasn't long before she fell for the male as well.
she stayed behind after the recording for bump it (junseo hates the song, but hey he needs the money) and as soon as the girls left, she wordlessly stalked over to junseo, hooking her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his. although he was taken aback, he hurriedly wrapped his arms around he girl.
they've subsided on the making out and more of spend their time with their hands entwined as they just talk. sometimes ran lies on his lap and he plays with her hair as they chat with the light kiss here and there. they're the couple who are permanently in the honeymoon stage and have lots of fun just by being together. ran also serves as junseo's muse for songs - numerous boy groups have had songs which junseo wrote with ran in his mind, and whenever the stress catches up to ran, she goes to junseo and a hug makes everything better for a moment.
