personality

— There are conflicting personality traits, but generally, Shin Hyunwook is a courageous and strong-willed person whose mind you can change - almost never. He is usually the first person to try different things in the team - such as approaching the usually unapproachable Kim Dongmin. He is strong-willed, which again means that, once he sets his mind on something hardly anything could change it he decision. Both on stage and off it, he is a confident person - except it diminishes somewhat off it. Hyunwook carries himself with an air of confidence, always standing tall and never wavering. Unless something really severe happened, he wouldn't be seen being depressed - usually. Onstage, he's also a charismatic person, and knows how to show off different his charms and make fangirls swoon (God that sounds wrong - but you get it) 

He's somewhat outgoing as well, always likes to introduce himself to people whom he has taken an interest in and doesn't shy away from te companion of people, or is he shy himself. 

He's also a teensy bit of a drama queen, and somewhat like his fellow triple threat idol Kim Kibum. Hyunwook, however does not show this side of him when he throws a fit - meaning, he doesn't use it to get something he wants. This side usually shows during variety shows, and is mostly for humour purposes. 

However, Hyunwook's flaw is his short temper and impatience. He doesn't really like waiting for something, and can be seen getting more and more frustrated when s dawdle over something that doesn't need to take such a long time. He's also sarcastic, and this is constantly on show, though it's mostly an endearing sense of sarcasm instead of really hurting - but it can sometimes unconsciously hurt someone. His mouth doesn't have a filter either, and he likes speaking his mind, which of course includes his constant swearing, and which people find offensive as well. (W.I.P - will add more when my brain wakes up, just use these points first) 

background

— A bit of information about his parents; his mother is a choreographer who works for A-list celebrities all around the world, and is rather famous for her charismatic dancing style, while his father is an underground rapper whom his son admires. So the two's influence on Hyunwook is pretty strong. 

He was born on a sunny winter morning, on the 7th November in Nagoya, where his mother's hometown is, after his older brother, Hoseok. For the first six years of his childhood, Hyunwook was happy; or as happy as a child could be when he is showered with love by both of his doting parents. Then, disaster struck, and the kind and loving world the young boy had known for a long time suddenly was smashed into smithereens of mere glass, revealing the harsh truth behind. 

To start off with, his father suddenly was diagnosed with clinical depression, and had to quit performing in order to nurse his health. The sudden lost of source of income forced their mother to start accepting offers from foreign celebrities again - of which she is required to spend time away from her children. Their father, who was suffering from depression has found the inspiration to write songs again, but often suffers from bouts of sucidial thoughts of which both brothers had to take special care in. 

The family managed to continue on for quite some years, till Hoseok graduated from college and started earning a living to support the family (because even though their mother is working hard, there is still a fair amount of money to take care of), letting Hyunwook pursue his dreams without any boundaries.

Hoseok and Hyunwook is a pair of unusual brothers; sure, the two quarrel too frequently over extremely small and petty , but Hoseok is also very very protective of his little brother, even though Hyunwook can fend for himself perfectly fine, so Jaebum had secretly thanked his lucky stars that Hoseok actually liked him, because, well, let's just say incidents which included Hyunwook's (albeit very tiny amount) boyfriends not passing Hoseok's test. Hyunwook had trained at 1Million for a while, during his trainee period, all thanks to his older brother. Also, Hoseok always checks on Hyunwook, who, even though he never mentions it, is really stressed over his debut. So even though Hoseok can be very annoying, Hyunwook still loves his brother.

Shin Jineul, in Hyunwook's opinion, is the most annoying and mischievous family member in his entire family (which is saying something). While the two don't see each other that often, when they meet, they become something akin to a pack of troublemakers who constantly prank Jineul's classmates (because pranking Hyunwook's colleagues is a very dangerous and risky action). Jineul likes takng Hyunwook out, to drink bubble tea, to go window shopping, basically just to take him out and talk and prank people. Even though Jineul appears to have the mentality of a three year-old, he's mature when he has to be, and often offers a ear and shoulder to rant to and cry on.

While Hyunwook aren't as close with Jiae as he is with Jineul, the two actually get along quite well. Due to their very slight age difference, Jiae likes taking care of Hyunwook, even though he claims that he doesn't need protection. She offers advice to Hyunwook, who is just as nervous about debut as she is, but she doesn't show it. When the two bump into each other in YG, they pretend to just be good friends, and doesn't reveal their relationship to others - because it could cause trouble for Hyunwook, whom others would claim he got into YG due to Jiae (which of course isn't true, but you know, people). Also, be careful around the two when you see them sitting together in the cafeteria for lunch. They are having a sass battle, and if you get between it, be prepared to face, well, not exactly hell but you get my point.

Hyunwook might be the only guy allowed to even chat with Jinheo (including Hoseok; Jineul is decided to be too much for her to handle) because Jiae is so goddamn protectie. While the two aren't really close on the 'close' scale, Jinheo does like to have coffee with Hyunwook occassionally to rant about her sister's protectiveness. Hyunwook sees Jinheo as his little sister, and Jinheo the same with the boy. (I don't know how you want Jinheo to be so I wrote only this much)

Before Jongki fell into the depths of depression, he was a model father; playing with his kids, arriving in time for dinner and always attending school functions. The brothers loved and admired their father, especially his music. Jongki, when the two were young, had taught them music, and they grew up having their lives surrounded by music and their mother's dance. However, when he was diagnosed with clinical depression, he became quiet, withdrawn, and prone to fits of anger and suicidal thoughts. Fortunately, having grown up, the two brothers were able to hold back their father from killing himself, but it was very painful for the two of them to see their father deteriorating into such a state.

Again, before their father became mentally ill, she had been caring and loving, always remembering to put dinner onto the table so the family could eat together. She had taught the boys how to dance from a very young age, and taught them choreography too, so they were skilled dancers from quite a young age. However, once her husband's health deteriorated, she was forced to accept offers from overseas, which caused her to be on trips quite often, and so the brothers don't see much of her anymore.

It was quite a miracle as to how they become close, because as everyone knew, Kim Dongmin isn't one to open up to others easily. It happened one night, when the two were practising dance; except Hyunwook was more of a choreographing style than dancing. He was so focused on it that Dongmin stopped to watch, and was amazed by his dancing skills (which was graceful instead of just popping; you know, like Hakyeon's style) that he demanded asked the older to teach him, which he gladly did. The two became closer through the like of dance, Hyunwook even bringing Dongmin to 1Million.

The two met when Hyunwook was still at JYP, and became bset of friends. Because Hyunwook can speak English, there wasn't really that much of a language barrier. The two were jokesters as well, and likes to spend time together playing games and pranking people and all that. Even though Hyunwook transferred to YG, they still keep close contact and goes out together whenever they have time.

(W.I.P) The two met during a dance competiton, of which Hyunwook won, but barely. He noticed the champion of the girl's section, who was Suhyo, and being the shameless he is (jk, but he did approach Suhyo), he went to introduce himself and all that. At first, Suhyo didn't care for him and walked away after a polite interaction, but when the two met after his mother's dance classes, she grudgingly agreed to be friends. Due to their combined love of dance, cats and tea, they soon became best of friends. However, once she became a trainee, he was careful not to be too close with her lest people think they are dating - and cause a scandal.

Hyunwook first met Hana in the dance practice room, where the girl asked him for advice regarding dancing. He was surprised, but nonetheless taught her. However, once they got to know each other better, he started slipping secrets about Jiae's weaknesses and some of her embarrassing information in order to let Hana play dirty whenever the two girls engage in a sass battle. While he watch on in amusement.

As Youngjae had already debuted, Hyunwook likes to constantly pester him for information and reassurances. The two met in JYP again, but both transferred agencies. Before that, they were troublemakers - along with Jackson, and they were named 'the infamous troublemaker trio' by most of the workers there. Now, they still keep in contact, and meets up occassionally whenever Youngjae has time.

Hyunwook likes teasing Youngjae about his hidden relationship with his bandmate, because he becomes really shy and quiet, unlike his usual noisy and fun self. Daehyun got to know Hyunwook, and soon he doesn't even call Daehyun 'sunbae-nim' anymore. While Youngjae doesn't always bring his boyfriend, when he does, Hyunwook likes talking about Youngjae's secrets and past with Daehyun, who shared his embarrassing present too. Basically the two likes to gently bully Youngjae together.

It was love at first sight; when Hyunwook saw Persephone, he immediately bought her and ignored Hoseok's half-hearted scoldings about the cat causing a mess in the house. Thankfully, she didn't and was very obedient, except she has a habit of scratching people when they touch her without consent. The members at first disliked her because she is sort of an eyesore and needed to be taken care of, but Hyunwook shut down their protestations, and somehow, the members grew to love her too. She's a Siberian cat, and a very fluffy one too, named after Hade's abducted wife, who is also Dementer's and Zeus' daughter.

After Hyunwook managed to get himself in YG, he started to be nervous due to his role model being in the same agency. He doesn't really see much of Jiyong due to the other's extremely hectic schedule, but when he does, he takes most of the chance to try and introduce himself or something so JIyong could slightly notice him. He's sort of a fanboy around the idol, but vows to one day catch up with him and stand on the same stage because Jiyong's words had inspired him; Work until your idols become your rivals. (It inspired me too in a way haha)

They didn't really know each other, just exchanged fights and punches and a few words at the dojo. But whenever the two meet at award shows or on stages (this is after debut), they do recognise each other.

His english name, William, means warrior or resolute warrior - basically someone who is courageous and righteous...sort of? In Greek mythology, Kratos is the god of strength and power. Combining the two, it basically means that Hyunwook's stage name is at the same time powerful (because he's a triple-threat) and bringing power to himself (yes it feels lame I know - )

training background

— Hyunwook, at the age of fourteen, with the training of following his mother's footsteps (literally, you know, in dancing) and his father's music, agonised over his career choices, consulted his older brother and even cousin, who was a trainee at YG, and finally decided to audition for both JYP and Starship. He got accepted by both, but went to JYP and trained there for two years. There, he gained experience and met new friends. However, when Youngjae decided to transfer agencies, and debuted shortly afterwards, he considered his choices and position, and decided that, due to a group of boys older than him and having more experience than him, he would transfer agencies to YG. 

At YG, he found out that this was the place he really belonged to. While not enjoying himself most of the time, he liked YG due to the style of music. Even though he was quite young at the time he started training, people didn't dare bully or look down on him after a particular incident in which he proved himself a strong enemy. He also made a few friends at YG; Lee Suhyo and Kim Dongmin, as well as Jiae supporting him from afar.

When the debut of iKon came, he was excited because he knew he would be in the lineup - until he wasn't. Disappointed, Hyunwook continued to train, harder than ever in order to let Yang Hyunsuk know just how good he is - and for him to finally choose him for the next debut lineup. 

Once C2C was announced, Hyunwook didn't dare get his hopes too high up due to his emotions being quite messed up the time prior. This time, he got chosen, and was relieved that his hard work paid off. But after that, he quickly forced his emotions down - because debut is only the beginning, and what lies in the future ahead is way difficult than just training.
