You could easily say that Hyunjae is great in a crisis; with all of his creativity and strong will, it’s no wonder that Hyunjae is natural in crisis situations. He is the type who enjoys physical risks, and he isn't afraid to face whatever freaky creature and get his hands dirty when the situation calls for it. Through all this, Hyunjae is able to stay quite relaxed. He lives in the moment and goes with the flow, refusing to worry too much about the future. As easily as Hyunjae goes with the flow, he can also ignore it entirely, and usually move in another direction with little to no apology or sensitivity. Unlike Hyunjae's grandmother, his father is extremely strict and blunt. He used to teach Hyunjae how he should act all pretty and respectful around others and how he should speak with a softer tone. If Hyunjae doesn't follow what he says correctly, he will make sure Hyunjae won't repeat the same mistake twice by disciplining his son. Don't mistake his father intentions; he only did this out of love. Since he loved his son he couldn't bring himself physically punish his son, so instead his father used to lock Hyunjae inside the storage room to reflect on his actions. Little did he know how he was scaring his son mentally by doing this.
Growing up following his father strict rules, Hyunjae became unable to express himself truthfully because he always had to act as if he was unfazed by anything and only smiles prettily when talking to someone. But as he was always restricted by all these rules he craved or something different, something more fun. In the beginning, it was as simple as sneaking into restricted placed and messing up things there, yet somehow it developed into him using his lying and bluntness to anger others into fighting him, to fall into his trap. The more he did troubles at school, the more his reputation as a troublemaker grew, and since he isn't the one who start the fights no one could blame him not even his father who's still obvious to his son deceiving acts.
thanks to Hyunjae growing reputation as a trouble maker none of his father friends' sons or daughters wanted to get close to him. This only led him to get into more trouble unknowingly by befriending two Chinese brothers who were close to his age and had the same interests as him, he met them when he was 15 in a kickboxing club. Hyunjae father didn't like them as he thought they'll destroy his son image further, and he wasn't wrong about this. Having friends to support his back made Hyunjae more daring than he was. The older brother who was 6 years older from the other used to act weirdly sometimes especially when they sneak to the woods in mid night, Hyunjae just thinking he's just a scaredy cat afraid of the dark.
Years passed and the three of them definitely got as close as blood-related brothers, they spent most of their free time together and they were the only people who he could tell anything. At Hyunjae's 22 birthday, his father was as busy as ever but he had his friends to party with. They bought him a cake and partied in the brothers family restaurant, the restaurant closed as it was past midnight so they were all alone, when suddenly the oldest shut them with a terrified look, unknowingly to Hyunjae who was being mischievous as usual and ignored the oldest order led to a huge creature who seemed to look like a huge dog or wolf out of horror movie who crashed through the window and jumped way too fast than any dog he saw before at the oldest.
Hyunjae could never forget the terrified and pained expression on the oldest face as creature lunged him, none of the two could save him and Having no knowledge of what to do in this situation he froze at his spot, but luckily for him, the youngest dragged him out without looking back. that night he found out that the older brother was a novice hunter and the creature he saw wasn't an average dog nor a wolf, but something more sinister. Hyunjae couldn't help but blame himself for the death of his friend, he swore that he'll learn about these wicked creatures and how to kill them himself.
