Everything Juna loves, Juna loves passionately. There's no middle ground for her, if she loves something, she loves it to the fullest. It might even be on the verge of obsession, but her passion is undeniable. Music is a prime example of that - Juna loves everything music, and her passion is never-ending. She's ready to do anything, dedicate her life if necessary, anything goes, really. Her dedicated nature only adds to her passions, and once she starts doing something she loves, she won't let go. She'll do more and more and more and it will consume her whole. It's no necessary a good thing, quite the contrary. she's trying too hard. She's the kind of person to stay up all night practicing, or starving herself for days. Self-harm isn't new to her. Anything goes, as long as she achieves her goals. In her head passion equals to sacrifice - if you're passionate about something, you have to be ready to sacrifice things in order to achieve it.
Insecurities only add fuel to the self-destructiveness of hers. The amount of years she spent as a trainee, as well as her average looks and fat-shaming done by netizens have taken its toll on her mentality. She spends a lot of time browsing through the internet and reading articles about herself, all while thinking if she truly deserves being an idol. She knows she can sing, dance and rap, but is she good enough? Does she deserve it? She constantly doubts herself and asks herself if what she does is enough. The answer is no, of course, and so she works even harder, and the pit she digs for herself grows larger. Unfortunately, she's rather impatient, and when she doesn't see immediate results (and she rarely does), she gets angry, and she gets disappointed, and she can't understand why it's never enough. So she tries even harder. But it's still not enough. For her it will never be enough.
Juna was never one that could easily open up to people, and her insecurities have amplified that trait. If she can help it, you won't know anything too personal about her. So unless you find her in a situation where she has no choice, she probably won't give out anything that's too personal. That doesn't mean, however, that she's not friendly. On the contrary, she always smiles and always talks and always goofs around. She doesn't trust people all that much, but she really does likes their company. She has friends, none of them she considers truly close, but she does feel like they're good friends. As long as she remembers herself, Juna lived and breathed music. It was everything she ever did - she'd throw concerts to her parents, she'd sing in the shower, she'd listen to music at any possible moment. It was the one thing she couldn't live without, couldn't be Kim Juna without. And it was the only thing Juna wanted to do in her life.
It wasn't that she was particularily good at singing - above average, yes, but nothing out of the ordinary - but it didn't matter. With dedication came results, and she knew she'll improve. Dancing lessons and vocal classes took a massive part of her daily schedule since she was a child, and as she reached the age of 12, she stubbornly insisted to try out for an entertainment company. She was a cute child, her round face then disregarded as baby fat, so after her first audition - which happened to be dsp, home to Kara - she got accepted as a trainee. She was the youngest in the company at the time, but even then she was passionate and dedicated, and she worked hard. Debut was long-coming, and while it hurt her, she knew she was still young and it would come, eventually. So she kept on training, and training, and training.
RELATIONSHIPS —

Yoon Chaekyung, 21, former fellow-trainee at dsp, currently member of April. Chaekyung was what Juna dubbed as her best friend in dsp - or as much of a best friend as Juna would consider. Both of them went through Kara Project togehter and got close thanks to being the same age. They shared the hardships of the survival show together, and grew closer. Even after Juna left dsp they kept in touch, and when they were reunited in Produce 101, they grew even closer. But while Juna would consider Chaekyung as her best friend, she can't help feeling jealous of her. Chaekyung got the looks and the body Juna always died for, and she has already debuted even though she trained for less time. Even though she's her best friend, she embodies everything Juna wishes to be, and it makes her feel even worse about herself.

• Even though she's a better dancer, she loves rapping more. It gives her a sense of freedom, and the novelty of the new skill still hasn't washed off.

TRAINEE LIFE —
In 2014, dsp announced Kara Project, and Juna was one of the contestants. It was obvious she wasn't going to win - she was too young and even after 6 years of training had a lot to learn - but her participation offered exposure and some fame. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as dsp expected. Some netizens thought that Juna was too fat or too ugly to be an idol, but other than that her appearance went unnoticed. That was the start of Juna's insecurities, and after the show ended she was filled with self-doubt. Her weight has always been an issue for the company as well as for her, but Kara Project showed her how real it was - the subject being adressed by outside sources, people who didn't know her at all, was like a slap to the face. The following year was spent training even harder and constantly trying to lose weight. While Juna did improve her skills, weight loss had turned out to be a task much harder than anticipated. No matter how much she tried she couldn't lose more than 5 kilograms, and her round face only added to the mirage of her being overweight. Doctors explained that she was having harships losing weight because she's in the range of weight that is good for her body, and it will struggle losing weight for aesthetic reasons. Juna didn't care and kept on trying. But her body refused to listen. When 2015 and April was announced as dsp's new girl group, Juna was left out of the lineup, for that exact reason. And knowing she had no more reason to stay at the company, Juna left.
She hadn't given up on her dream, of course, and so the next station in her idol training was SS Entertainment, a smaller company, but one that ensured debut. And Juna was sold. In her new company she was asked to take rapping classes as well as vocal and dancing, and while she was first reluctant, Juna agreed. And she found out she was really good at it. It was yet another form of music, and her passion grew into a new direction. It was a freshness the likes of which Juna hadn't experience in a while, and it gave her new powers to continue training and improving. Her weight problems have been pushed to the side of her brain, for now. Then SS sent her along with 2 other trainess to compete in Produce 101, and everything started going sour, again. Juna was dubbed as the "talented but unpretty rapstar", and while her skills were praised, she was ultimately forgottern thanks to her lack of visuals and, according to netizens, "lack of dedication towards losing weight". She ultimately placed 20th, but was forgotten almost immediately. The experience only added more fuel to the body-image problems, and eventually Juna quit SS Entertainment, seriously thinking whether or not she should continue trying to become an idol. 7 years of training passed, but she was still nowhere closer to debut.
It was almost a miracle that then she was approached and offered a chance to be a part of Big Hit's new girl group. It was too good to be true. But Juna saw that as another chance to make her passion come true, and so she agreed without second thoughts. Once again, body-image problems were pushed aside, for a bit, and she focused on training for the debut. But soon enough, as soon as they debut, it will all come back. And as always, Juna won't be able to deal with it.

• It's not much of a scene suggestion, but I imagine Juna won't be able to get herself out of her body-image problems by herself. She needs an outside source, but she won't open up to people, and so she won't tell anybody about it. So the only way for it to be solved is if someone finds out by an accident, and cares about her enough to help. She needs to see dedication and passion in order to open up - she needs to truly trust that person.
