Put on that red dress, darling. Let it be another toy to play with, as you play them and yourself.
Roxanne, you don't have to put on that red light
name Tatiana Kosmachova
nickname
。Tanya - because Koreans absolutely butcher her full name, and "Tanya is just so much cuter!"
birthdate March 4, 1989
birthplace Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin, Russia
hometown Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin, Russia
ethnicity Russian
nationality Russian
language
。Russian - native
。Korean - conversational. Taewu taught her well enough but the language is extremely different from what she's used to, so it's still a work in progress. She's much better at it now, but still struggles with pronunciation and grammar.
。English - conversational to basic. After the Iron curtain fell, and English merchandise reached Russia (legally, at last), it was new and intriguing, and Tanya wanted to learn all about it. Foreign Movies, tv shows, and music are all prominent memories from her childhood. Her English vocabulary is basically the entire script of Friends.

gender female.
blood type B positive
Why does my heart cry?
faceclaim Lyndsy Fonseca
backup face Holland Roden

appearance She was nothing special in Russia - everyone has fair skin, everyone has light eyes, hers was nothing special.

In Korea, she was suddenly exotic. Her fair skin was special. Her light eyes were unique. Her curves, less than impressive for Russia's standards, suddenly stood out. She was in no way as gorgeous as the Korean girl next door or anything else those Xenophobic folk will tell you, but she is hot enough to be worthy of a conquest of the new white horse in town.

When it comes to style, Tanya dresses to impress. It was the custom back in Russia, and habits die hard. Thankfully, it's the same in Korea (and she's not really surprised. There's not a place in the world where people don't indulge in the foolish game of pretend they enjoy so much), and Tanya just goes with the flow. So she puts on makeup before taking out the trash, and puts on her overly expensive high heels before going on a shift. She can't say she doesn't love looking pretty, but it's such a pain. Everything would've been so much more simple if people chose to stop playing this stupid game.
Feelings I can't hide

personality

an idealistic realist, empathic, selfless, passive, cynical, intelligent, a coward playing a brave woman, playing pretend is just her way of life

This world is nothing but a big playground for Tanya Kosmachova, even if she doesn't particularly likes the game, or even thinks it's clever. People would've been so much happier if they'd abandon stupid prejudices and assumptions. The world is beautiful, why waste time on playing stupid games when you can enjoy it? But people are fools (she included), and they just can't do that. Tanya knows it as the ugly truth, and knows there is nothing she can do to change it. Life has made her cynical and gave her this peculiar view of life. It serves as a peculiar contrast to her empathic nature and idealistic mind, and creates a weird dissonance that wages wars in her mind left and right.

She wants to make the world better. She sees people suffering, and she wants to help. There was a reason she became a doctor, why she followed Slava and his almost suicidal Robin Hood complex. She is not blind to the horrors of the world, and wants to help as much as she can. Pain is ugly, and pain prevents you to see the beauty of life.

But sometimes she wonders if people are even worth saving if they keep playing stupid games, following stupid rules and laws set up by even dumber people? And then she wonders if she herself is worth saving, because, in reality, she does exactly that. She justifies her actions, telling herself that she does it because she doesn't have a choice, but everyone has a choice, Tanya knows. She is very passive, never really taking action unless forced to, and it’s one of those traits she absolutely despises about herself. Inherently, she’s all talk and no action - with her strong ideals and views on life, with her empathy and desire to help people, with all of that she stands still and just observes. A big part of her lack of action is fear, of course. She hates that about herself too. Consequences scare the out of her, as does pain and misfortune. She doesn’t realize she wants to prevent pain for people so much because she herself is absolutely terrified of it. She pretends to be brave, of course - she goes on missions and she deals with Slava, and she helps people despite knowing that some of them can’t be helped. She simply remains in this one, big, dissonance, helping and hurting and helping and hurting, too passive to move in any direction without being pushed. And nobody pushes her, everyone is too busy with their own problems. So Tanya remains where she is, and endures. This world is nothing but a big playground, after all, and she’s good at playing hide and seek with her feelings. Playing pretend has always been her favorite game, no matter how much she hates it.

background Tanya was just a university student when she had her first kill. Medical help was lacking in Russia in general, and in their secluded island in particular, and it wasn't unusual for the med students to be forced to play pretend as actual doctors and treat patients (while the few doctors they did have took the time to take a break and pour a liter or two of vodka into their hungry stomachs). Tanya was good - playing pretend has always been her forte - and she didn't really mind. She was helping people, and that was good enough for her.

The problem arose when Dima came. Terminally ill with a disease the doctors couldn't diagnose, he was dying, but not dying fast enough. He was suffering, in constant pain but could not afford any painkillers. All Tanya could do was watch as he slowly withered away, crying as his final moments of life were filled with unimaginable pain, asking to be killed and end the pain for good. But Tanya wasn't the only one watching. Slava was watching too. He was a janitor at the hospital, wanting to help but never being book-smart enough to actually study anything. He saw Tanya, and he knew what to do. He convinced her to steal midazolam from the vault. Midazolam induces sleep and slows down breathing, and an overdose could put a human to sleep for good. That was exactly what Tanya did. She watched him fall asleep, and he smiled at her. And Tanya knew she did the right thing.

The next time she killed, she was already a doctor. Slava and she became accomplices, and later friends and lovers - trauma and secrets made them grow closer, and even though Tanya didn't love him (at least not in the way he loved her), she kept on playing pretend. It was just easier that way.

And then Sergei came. He checked in the hospital with a gun wound, and Tanya was his treating doctor. She realized something was wrong with him on the second day. People dressed in all black came in and out of his room, hushed conversations and heavy cases flew in and out. It took her only a day to realize he was a member of a gang. It took her a few more to realize exactly what he was doing. Human trafficking. ography. ion.

Slava began planning his murder immediately. The plan was simple - just like with Dima, an overdose of Midazolam off the chart, a futile attempt to "save his life", and then a shocked face and a mantra of "I don't know what happened to him, he was getting better, I don't know what happened."

In reality, everything was complicated. Nobody was willing to leave Sergei alone, and every single move of hers was carefully monitored. An opportunity arose in the middle of the night of the tenth day of his stay. Tanya snuck into his room, injected the drug into his vein, and left the room in a hurry. Thirteen minutes later, she was called in because Sergei's heart rate was slowing down. "I don't know what happened to him." She repeated. "He was getting better. I don't know what happened." The gang members didn't care.

Enter Tim Taewu. An agent of the Saints on a mission to assassinate Sergei and put a stop to his gang, his mission was interfered by Slava and Tanya, and instead of killing Sergei, he was forced to save Slava and Tanya from some furious gangsters.

He took them back to Korea with him and introduced them to the Saints. They needed a doctor anyway, and eh a janitor would do too.
You're free to leave me but just don't deceive me

agent name
 Aybolit
。It's kind of a joke on her part - Dr. Aybolit (which translates as Ouch, it hurts in Russian) is a fictional character from a children novel and cartoon about a doctor in Africa. Tatiana feels just as foreign, and honestly, she's surrounded by animals as well. It's all kind of funny when she thinks about it, in a very sad and ironic way that nobody but her really gets.

specialization medicine, assassinations,
。As a doctor, Tanya has vast medical knowledge, and can treat patients such as wounded agents. She lacks hospital experience, but makes it up with field experience she got from working with the Saints and treating yet another agent who got shot or broke a leg while jumping from a building.
。Medical knowledge comes quite handy when it comes to silent assassinations. She's not good with a gun or a knife, but Tanya does the job just as well (and much cleaner) with a syringe and a few drops of one drug or another. If she can get close to a target, consider the job done. It also gives her plenty of time to escape, as it takes a while for people to figure out what's wrong without hearing a gunshot or seeing blood.
。Her appearance might make her stand out in the Korean scene, but it also gives her an edge in specific operations - a Russian e has a higher demand than a Korean one, for example.

trivia

。Sergei haunts her. He comes to her when she's afraid, and laughs in her face as blood oozes from his chest. He swears they will get to her, and she will know unimaginable pain. She will suffer, and he will laugh at her as she screams and screams and screams.
。Dima haunts her too, but all he does is smile. Sometimes it's soothing and calming. Sometimes it makes her even more afraid than Sergei.
。She is not new to Koreans and Korean culture, as Sakhalin is home to a few thousands of Russian Koreans. They were originally brought to the island by the Japanese as a working power during WW2, and later stayed under Russian rule.
。Korean food is delicious, though she misses her mother's pelmeni and borscht. Soju is piss though. Who would want to drink that water when you have vodka?
。Koreans think they can hold their liquor? Please. She can take all of them without batting an eye. Amateurs.
。She absolutely despises the hot and humid summers of Korea. Sakhalin was always nice and cool, but here she sweats and it's ing horrible.
。She and Slava are... complicated. He loves her, she doesn't really love him in return. Things kind of ended after they came to Korea, but neither had really said anything about it. They are still good friends, acting as if nothing is wrong, which makes it even more complicated. But Tanya always plays pretend, and Tanya never acts, so she is not going to be the one to change that.
And please believe me when I say I love you

target
 Ahn Hyejin

assignment
。Her real target is a man that goes simply by "Kwon". He is so similar to Sergei that it hurts, but Tanya is the best person to deal with such a task - Kwon owns a ion ring, and a Russian attractive woman is just what he needs. Tanya needs to go in, gather intel, get close enough to him that spending time alone with him wouldn't look suspicious, assassinate him, and go out. It's a tedious job, but she does it because someone must put a stop to his actions.
。But there she meets Hyejin. She's not known to Tanya as Hyejin at first, going by the monicker "Hwasa". Hwasa is gorgeous and exotic, with curves and cat-like face, and a smoldering gaze that could kill a man. Despite her situation, Hwasa is surprisingly cheerful and supportive, and has a really great sense of humor, and does whatever she can to help the other girls. Tanya looks at her, and sees a better version of herself, the person she wants to be but can never be as great. Hwasa likes Tanya, and is quick to trust her and open up. She becomes Hyejin, and Tanya becomes attached. And that complicates absolutely everything.
。Assignment-wise, it'd be better for her to advance to a different brothel, work her way up and get closer and closer to Kwon. Here he only visits rarely, and she knows his main brothel is located somewhere else. But Tanya can't leave Hyejin. She needs to protect her. Hyejin has a cheeky tongue to her, and a selfless nature that could put her in danger at any given second. She is gorgeous and exotic, but she is disposable, and Kwon wouldn't think twice about getting rid of her. So Tanya needs to protect Hyejin, and so she can't leave her. But that makes her stay even longer at the brothel, without making any progress, and time drifts by as more women are forced into this life, and Kwon gets more money, and Tanya slips further and further away. She loves Hyejin, loves her more than she has ever loved anyone in her life. But Hyejin is one woman, and her mission is to save thousands of them.
mission [unknown]
。Tanya is facing the classical conflict of good of the few vs good of the many - does she sacrifice Hyejin in order to kill Kwon and save countless women, or does she do whatever she can to keep Hyejin safe, thus sacrificing the nameless women she knows nothing of other than the fact that they exist and they're suffering.
。Do whatever you want with this :D I do really love bittersweet endings, and seeing my character suffer is always nice! I see this arc connecting to Tanya's character development, as she is forced to finally stop being passive and act, and to choose between Hyejin and the other people she can save, because time is running out and she has no other choice but act. I'm a er both for happy and sad endings, so please do end it however you see fit :)

comments This idea hit me like a brick, and I couldn't focus on anything other than Tanya. I hope you like her!

suggestions/requests
。I would really love to see the inner structure of the organization, and the inner struggles and politics! It's a really interesting topic, and I'd love to see how the organization works :D
。I'd love to see how the agents cope with their missions, their stress, and their trauma. It's a tough life to live, and it'd be very interesting to see how they endure it (be it alcohol, drugs, , shutting off. Everyone does it differently, and it would be amazing to read about)
