appearance : boa is beautiful girl, though not the exact korean beauty type due to two things: her nose and her body. her nose isn't the thin and straight type koreans love to have (and get, if they have the money). her body also isn't slim and thin. instead, she has visible curves - a thin kind of hourglass figure. her waist isn't the smallest in the industry, but is nipped in enough to give her the kind of figure she has. she actually has visibile hips,  and s. her thighs touch but she has legs for days. her body is also toned due to her proper dieting and exercise.

 

aside from that, she is pale with a bright complexion. her eyes are also a light brown. she also has long, black hair. some people say she looks younger than she actually is.

 

she holds herself with grace and dignity belonging to a confident person who knows herself inside and out and wouldn't be afraid to admit it.

 

style : boa has always been a fashionable girl, she just has a natural eye for fashion. however, she either dresses like she's a.) the daughter of a chaebol, b.) an aesthetic tumblr girl, c.) a model, d.) a girl obsessed with vintage or e.) an artsy free spirit. no in-betweens. one thing for sure, however, is that what she'll wear will always be flattering and showcase her assets without being revealing. she's also not a big fan of eccentric or sporty fashion.

to her fans and variety shows: boa doesn't show her entire self to them, but doesn't change herself either. she tends to show more of her positive traits and tries not to show her negative ones, but aside from that, she's still herself. she's less polite and more witty and cunning - these events are when she unleashes her savage and variety gold sides.

 

to the public (other than variety shows): she's more mindful of her words and actions than ever before. "polite" takes place over being "witty". she doesn't need a scandal about how she said the wrong thing to a sunbae or how her actions are rude.

hwang boa was born as the only child of hwang junyoung and kim minji. junyoung and minji are nice people but are far too busy with their jobs. they hand boa to her nanny to concentrate on being a surgeon (minji) and a lawyer (junyoung). nanny heejin tells boa her parents love her when boa starts to doubt.

 

whatever boa asks for, she gets. she asks her father she wants to learn how to sing, dance and play the piano and junyoung will find the best teachers money can find for his daughter. she asks her mother for a pretty dress and minji will buy her the most beautiful and most expensive she can find. junyoung and minji spoil and love their daughter but honestly forget that children don't need to be showered with money - children need love and attenion.

 

it's time for boa to go to school, but it's not a happy time. children are cruel, even without meaning to. they'd comment on her "weirdly light eyes" and her "big ugly nose." every night, boa cries to nanny heejin because of the comments but nanny heejin assures her that she's beautiful. boa finds a friend in her classmate miyoung. miyoung doesn't care about what the other kids say and stands up to them when they're mean to boa again.

 

years pass and boa's now 10 years old. miyoung grows to become pretty, vain and shallow. she becomes more popular and starts to bully boa. boa doesn't want to let go of her best friend, however, and bears with it. miyoung also wants boa to change herself so that she can fit in. nanny heejin is let go because boa is older now (boa doesn't want her to go, but she has to). her parents are still distant and throw money at her (she'll gladly give it all up for her parents' love and attention).

 

there's been an accident. mother and father are dead ("drunk driver", "poor girl", she hears the police officers whisper). mother doesn't have any family left alive, while father still has a brother. uncle jinyoung can't take her, however. he's in debt and jobless (and thus, not able to properly take care of a child).

 

her mother's best friend who lives in new zealand with her foreigner husband comes back for her. boa's never had much contact with aunt minah even though she's mother's best friend but she's seen photographs of her and has read mother's diaries (even though she's not supposed too). aunt minah asks if boa if she wants to be adopted by her and boa agrees. they fly to new zealand the next week.

 

aunt minah is a very kind person and so is her husband uncle zach and their son, cousin cody. aunt minah is pretty and nice and so is uncle zach (despite his very, very, very dark skin and very tall and has huge muscles, he's really a huge teddy bear) and cousin cody (he has really dark skin too and really tall and he looks more like uncle zach than aunt minah and he's really rough around the edges too). they teach her english patiently and treat her like family (is this what family is supposed to be? the closest she's ever had to that is nanny heejin). they let her continue her vocal, dance and piano lessons. they even let her start painting and acting. new zealand is different from south korea. the food is kind of weird and so are the culture and traditions but dunedin is a pretty city and the people are nice.

 

time passes and boa's now 12 years old. aunt minah slowly becomes "mum" and uncle zach slowly becomes "dad." cousin cody becomes "big brother" too. dad teaches her how to bake and cook while mum lets her join in on pilates and yoga. cody trains her in cycling and running. she gains friends at school. they don't mind her "ugly nose" or her "weird eyes" (mum, dad and cody don't like it when she says those things - they insist those parts of her make her more unique and more beautiful). the teachers praise her intelligence and diligence. boa wasn't at the top of the class since she preferred to do her creative and artistic hobbies more.

 

boa's 15 years old and she meets jake williams. he's handsome and captivating. she ends up dating him. cody meets him and remarks that jake seems like a bad influence but she doesn't listen. cody was right - she found out that he's simultaneously cheating on 5 girls (including her). she's heartbroken but vengeful and enlists her brother's help. the next week, four girls "stumble" upon boa and jake on a date. they're all shocked when each girl and the girl their boyfriend was on a date with claimed jake to be their boyfriend. it didn't take long for each girl to figure out what's really happening and jake was outed as a cheater (right after each girl had either slapped him or threw something at him). he ended up moving to australia the next week.

 

(cody and boa were satisfied and quite content with what they did. mum and dad found out but weren't too surprised - they know their children after all - but were quite disappointed. despite that, they still told their children they loved them no matter what they do.)

 

boa's 17 years old now. she's entered dance competitions and singing contests, has been a part of her school's cheerleading team and has vastly improved in painting. she's learned to love herself no matter what and adores her family and friends. the scars of feeling unloved and used come back but it's nothing she can't handle.

 

boa's graduated high school and she decides to move back to south korea for university. her parents are tearful but proud and cody decides to move with her. once she's there, her eyes are opened to kpop and she fell in love instantly.

at first glance, cody isn't a person easy to get along with. however, he and boa are really close. he wouldn't mind going shopping with her or listening to her daily drama and she wouldn't mind playing sports with him or giving him advice on how to get close to women he likes. cody has actually bought stuff for her period a couple of times without caring if he's gonna be teased.

 

minah is kinda flighy and airheaded but she has a heart of gold. she's her children's number one supporter in everything they do and loves them no matter what. she won't admit it, but cody and boa got their vindictive streaks from her.

 

zach is a huge man but is a huge softie at heart. truthfully, his wife is tougher than he is. boa loves her mum and all, but she's a total daddy's girl. he loves spoiling his children a lot, especially boa. boa is his little princess.

 

there are friends you eventually lose due to time and distance, but teresa is not one of them. she was one of the first friends boa befriended in new zealand. even though teresa stayed in new zealand and boa's in south korea, they do their best to communicate.

 

siwon is a person hard to befriend since she's so withdrawn. boa didn't have much time to try and befriend siwon since the lessons they shared together were too few. from what boa could see though, the girl was a talented producer and a good worker, if a bit insensitive.

 

boa was one of the trainees who didn't bully or harrass jillian. in fact, she's one of those who saw what was happening and tried to help the said girl. jillian, however, is an independent girl and boa knew she would have to help at a distance since jillian might react negatively to it.

personality : taehyung is a big ball of sunshine. he's the type of person who can raise your spirits up even when you're down. he's pretty optimistic - he wasn't even too sad at getting lost in sweden because "the scenery is nice." he's also a friendly and funny guy. he's also pretty loud, so you can immediately know if he's tired, serious or something's wrong if he's quiter than usual. he's matured a lot since bts' debut, but he's still pretty childish. he doesn't care much for other's opinion because he knows the opinions that matter are his and those of the people he cares about so that might cause him to blurt things honestly (and hurt people's feelings). taehyung's also pretty unique and he has a one of a kind view of the world (which can weird people out) but he has a big heart. he's also the kind of guy that would like to meet someone based on their personality, not their looks. he's also really friendly and social, as evident by his huge social circle.

 

love story : taehyung and boa will meet when bang pd-nim decides to show tessellate to bts. in bts, taehyung isn't even her closest friend; in fact, namjoon is. however, taehyung and boa are pretty friendly toward each other. the way they fell in love was gradual and over the span of a long time. it started with the space between them becoming slowly eradicating - their skinship became more frequent and with less boundaries. then, their conversations became deeper and more flirtatious. after that, they started thinking more and more of each other - even in the most random times. They'd think "oh he'd love that shirt" or "what would boa do?" when they see something or encounter a situation. next thing they knew, they became jealous of each other's fans and other people. And then boom, they realize they fell in love.

 

end game : both of them are in a committed and happy relationship after at least 3 years of knowing each other.

trainee background : truthfully, boa isn't the type of person people would see become an idol. i mean, sure she's polite, has talents and would be good enough for variety but she's not a comformist. she would be the type of person who wouldn't completely fit south korea's mold of an idol. however, she saw this as a chance not only to showcase her musical talents, but also be a role model for people - that it's okay to be different ("big ugly nose", "weirdly light eyes", "too tall", "too curvy", "too outspoken") and people would still love you (nanny heejin and mum and dad and cody and teresa and maybe even mother and father too) and you should be proud of that ("my nose and eyes and height and body and personality are things to be proud of. and i am."). 

 

boa, well, she's an artist at heart. though she may adore idols, she knew not many had artistic freedom so she reasearched. bighit, amoeba culture and aomg were her top picks. ultimately, bighit won because she was so impressed with bangtan sonyeondan. 

trainee lifestyle : boa had a couple friends, but she entered the company at the time it was hard to make friends. every girl had heard the rumors of a new girl group and was too busy trying to impress the teachers and bang pd-nim in order to be chosen for it. people say boys are scary, but in lily's opinion, girls are scarier, if only because they're cunning and catty. she heard scathing comments exchanged, she saw rivalries bloom and watched as others were sabotaged. heck, she even experienced it herself. boa never let it get to her or stoop to their level though and was ready to lend a hand to everyone. many people and boa herself thought she was pretty much ready to debut due to her vocal skills ("but not as good as me," a trainee whispers behind boa's back), dancing abilities ("not as sharp as jaemi-unnie though," another mutters as boa walks past) and looks ("she'd be actually pretty if she fixed her nose," another snickered as boa sat down).
