PERSONALITY 

inspired by: elle woods (legally blonde), with a side of cher horowitz (clueless) and charlotte labouff (princess and the frog) / tropes: hidden depths, spoiled sweet, uptown girl / bubbly, emotional, and flamboyant / doesn't seem to lose energy / boundlessly optimistic so when she's down you know it's bad / says what's on her mind and is uncompromising when it comes to expressing herself, even if it makes people uncomfortable / confident of her everything - not in an arrogant way but in a way that's evident that she knows who she is and what she's capable of / can be shallow, spoiled, tactless, out of touch, and vain, but has a heart of gold and is generally good-natured / can be a bit of a drama queen / smarter and wittier than she looks / has a lawyer for a mom whom she admires and emulates on some level, so she's learned how to get done efficiently and she's good at talking / will not take anyone's  but is easy to forgive and forget / pours out so much care and energy into the things she does / hates it when people dismiss her solely because she's pretty and likes being pretty

LIFESTYLE 

giselle grew up in the affluence of socal with her litigator mom, psychiatrist dad, and older brother so you can bet that she's used to expensive things - chanel clothes, birkin bags, louboutin heels and the like. thankfully, their parents still instilled values and virtues in their children and not just spoil them indiscriminately, so while the ellis siblings are still spoiled, they have big hearts and wouldn't look down on anyone, especially since both their parents are self-made people.

 

going into university, giselle decided to live alone in a 2 bedroom apartment. her parents don't play any part of her current living situation aside from paying for it, so she cooks and cleans up after herself.

 

when she wakes up, she immediately starts with her day with her morning skincare routine. then she checks her schedule, makes breakfast, and goes to where she needs to go. at the end of the day, she does her schoolwork and her nighttime skincare routine then plans her outfit for the next day.

 

she usually spends saturday and friday nights partying, though never 2 nights in a row because she knows her limits, though she'd make an exception for delta nu ragers. sometimes she'll bring a boy home but it doesn't really happen that often.

 

some of her sunday mornings are usually reserved for the delta nu bi-weekly meetings.

 

giselle spends some of her free afternoons (when not studying or pampering herself or hanging out with her friends) volunteering at orphanages and old people's homes. she also spends a lot of free time with her sorority sisters or other friends.

TRIVIA 

► when she's stressed out or down, retail therapy is her activity of choice

► wants to make a sustainable clothing line

► her brother's technically her half-brother from her father's first marriage, but she never cared much for semantics honestly

► she's more of an auditory learner than kinesthetic or visual

► what's in her bag? mascara, liptint, foundation, wipes, mint, hairbrush, hair ties, her keys

► her sorority, delta nu, is relatively new compared to the other sororities in uch. it prides itself on diversity, philanthopy, passion, and support. 

► "legally blonde" is definitely something her sorority likes to quote a lot

► her mom was a big rock fan, especially of the beatles and queen, (still is, actually) while her dad loves musical theater. her brother, meanwhile, is more of a pop and alternative guy. her music taste is mostly a combination of her parents' tastes and kpop, with some of her brother's here and there. her spotify looks like a mess.

► doesn't have a driver's license because she is anxious about driving

► in terms of romance, she's not exactly looking for the love of her life (i mean, come on, she's 20!) but wouldn't be adverse to getting into romantic relationships. since getting into uch, she's dated here and there, but hasn't had a relationship that lasted more than 3 months so far. she's had more one night stads than boyfriends. her ideal guy is someone caring and considerate, and she also thinks that it would be nice if he was calmer than her so that they'd balance each other out.

► most people predict that giselle's a cocktail girl, and they are absolutely right

► as someone who grew up with money, she had the privilege of being able to choose her hobbies. some she kept up with like cooking, baking, playing the drums, and dancing. then there are some that she discarded like the flute, kayaking, and singing

► giselle really doesn't like bitter food. her favorites are sweet and spicy, but she'll take sour, salty, and savory over bitter.

► some people have emotional support animals, giselle has her emotional support succulents: dawn (a morning light echeveria), cerise (ruby's necklace), and flame (a dragon's blood)

► she won't admit it, but her favorite at the old people's home she volunteers at is victor, a ww2 vet who loves photography and dancing

► high school years: she was a cheerleader her entire high school years, though she did take a slight step back during junior year when she also joined the school's band. she was a part of the popular crowd, but not the "mean girls" kind of popular. giselle did well on her studies, but the sciences took more effort on her part, as she enjoyed the humanities more.

► she concentrates on fashion and interior design for her major, though she's focusing on fashion this quarter

► giselle love this korean restaurant near uch. her favorites are definitely their jjampong and spicy raw trout with mixed vergetables

RELATIONSHIPS 

 

 james choi / best friend, ex-boyfriend / 20

james has been giselle's best friend ever since they met in grade school. they dated for 4 months in their junior year of high school before they broke it off because they realized they were way more comfortable and suited to being friends. many think it's awkward being best friends with your ex, but both of them don't really care what others think. they can practically read each other's minds due to being friends for so long. chill and supportive, giselle can always count on james to have her back.

 

connie and and giselle met during rush and have been friends ever since. her sarcastic and laidback demeanor's definitely a good contrast to giselle's optimism and energy. she's actually the one who told giselle about junk band and would 100% be at any performances (unless there's a schedule conflict)

 

poppy's such a sweetheart, in giselle's opinion. 10/10 she would love to be good friends with poppy, but is willing to wait for poppy to be more comfy. also she has a cat??? giselle would absolutely love to meet him! giselle would also definitely be baking buddies with poppy once they're closer.

 

giselle definitely knows who judy joo is. they may not run in the exact same circles, but judy's one of the guys her new sorority sisters like to gush over. the freshmen aware of his existence think he's a hottie and giselle's inclined to agree because hello, she's not blind. he's got the whole "handsome boy with chill vibes" thing going on. aside from that, she definitely thinks he could be a good friend. he also lowkey reminds her of james.

"hi! my name's poppy kang, we spoke over the phone! let's jump right in— why'd you wanna join the band?"

► "hi there poppy! as you know i'm giselle, but you can call me gigi or any other nicknae you want or just giselle." it was pretty obvious that 'peppy' is giselle's default setting, "aside from making new friends and meeting new people, i miss being in a band. i was in my high school's band in junior year but it only lasted that same year because we had nobody to replace the seniors who graduated."

"awesome! that's super cool, what instruments do you play? do you sing at all?"

► "i play the drums!" giselle laughs a little at the shock on poppy's face, "i know, i know, doesn't really match my aesthetic, does it?" she gestures to her whole body, "but my mom's a huge fan of rock bands, especially the drummers. little me thought it'd be cool and i've been playing ever since. as for singing, i wanted to be a broadway actress when i was younger so i had lessons, but i stopped after a year or two? now, i only really sing for my family, friends, and sorority sisters."

"wow! do you have any plans to write songs or lyrics, or produce songs for the band?"

► "i don't know a thing about producing songs, but i'd be down with writing lyrics! i just don't know how good i'll be." her eyes lit up, "and aside from that i can also help with the wardrobe! you know, so we'd look more cohesive as a band. fashion's my thing so i'll definitely be of help on that front."

"okay, great, nice... um... do... you have plans to hang out with the band after practices or..." poppy seems visibly nervous. "i mean, it's fine if you're busy! just wondering..." she lets out an awkward laugh.

► giselle pauses to think about her schedule, "i do have some stuff to do with being in a sorority and all, but i'm pretty good with time management and i'm always up for hanging out with new people!"

"o-oh, okay! um... anyway, uh... are you okay with, like, the group experimenting with genres and music and stuff? this is the last question, so..."

► "that's absolutely fine with me! i like a lot of different genres, so i wouldn't mind if we end up performing different kinds of music."

"okay! cool, nice, um... we'll be in touch! i'll let you know how it goes... see you at auditions!"

► "see you! and hey, if i don't get in, you can always hit me up if you'd like." giselle pauses, seeing the anxiety in poppy's eyes. her tone softens slightly, "scratch that, i'll hit you up first, okay? there's this amazing creperie that just opened and i think you'll love it!"

ANY LAST WORDS? i was rewatching legally blonde (both the musical and the movie) and clueless when i was struck by inspiration. i also left this until the last minute (bc exams and requirements ugh) + i at interview portions in the apps so i may not have gotten her voice right in the interview? asdasdj
