I feel like a failure...

This is so trivial...

I think it's because it's my first time writing in so long on here and with EXO, a group I've never written about before. I dunno I'm stuck as 18 subscribers. 

Everytime I see an alert for a new Subscriber, I click on the link...and they're gone again.

Is this just difficult beginnings or is my story that bad?

Does my writing style reflect how I am as a person? Some people treat me like I'm a bad person because I'm very honest and critical, even though itcomes from an honest place of good intention. 

Is it really that bad or should I try my hand at AO3 instead? Maybe I would be better understood over there?

it's most likely just hard beginnings. you can certainly try ao3 but no guarantee you'll get more response there. as for people treating you harshly, you could always try to tone it down a bit when talking to more... sensitive people but again, you certainly don't have to. quick question though: have you updated your story recently? people are more reluctant to sub if a story hasn't updated in a long time
