min jongsun cleared his throat, anxiously fixing his tie in front of the mirror. his fingers were trembling, showing how nervous he was. it was his big day after all. in ten minutes, he'd be walking down the aisle, hand in hand with his new wife.
thinking of her, a shaky smile grew on his face. he loved her — cha younghee. oh, he loved her so much. today was the day they'd be officially husband and wife, vowing to love one another til death do them apart. there was nothing more that he wanted besides living beside younghee for the rest of his life.
he was an ordinary gwangju man; he considered himself so fortunate to score such a classy, beautiful seoul lady. he was only a clerk, she was a successful businesswoman. though her wealthy and arrogant family scared and hated him, younghee mattered more. he was going to marry her after all, not her family.
"are you ready?" his brother clasped a hand on his shoulder.

being newlyweds was wonderful. though there were times younghee declared war with him due to certain things of him she didn't like, jongsun was happy nevertheless. he gave in to her, he did everything she told him to. call him crazy, but he was simply way too in love.
a year after their marriage, younghee held a newborn baby in her arms. it was a girl — she could already imagine how pretty she was going to be. the first time jongsun held his daughter, he cried. she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen, even more beautiful than younghee.
"what should we name her, hm?" younghee thought out loud. "soojin? dami? or maybe a name with three syllables, like ahmisun?"
"eunjo." jongsun said, smiling widely.
younghee instantly made a face. "eunjo? don't you mean eunjoo? ugh, what kind of disgusting name is eunjo? honey, we can't have our daughter stuck with an ugly name; it's something she'll be using for her whole life."
hearing his wife's harsh words, jongsun's face fell.
"eunjo is my grandmother's name," he said quietly. "she was the one who raised me and cared for me, i-i thought it'd be an honour to name my first child after her."
younghee's eyes immediately went wide. "oh my! honey, i'm so sorry, i didn't know!"
jongsun simply shook his head. younghee bit her lip before releasing a sigh.
"okay, i agree. let's name her eunjo," younghee said, though her heart very much disagreed.

loud giggles filled the air. eunjo let out a childish shriek as her father picked her up, throwing her into the sky and catching her safely. they were having the time of their lives — playing in their backyard, getting dirty and laughing like they never had before.
seven-year-old eunjo had grown up to become a daddy's girl. it wasn't much of a choice anyways; she rarely saw her mother. younghee was only home four days a week at most, usually she'd be away in seoul for business, as she says. their giant bungalow often felt too empty. all their luxury, her favourite food and pretty clothes, came from her mummy, eunjo knew, but why did she love her daddy more?
to little eunjo, her daddy was both her daddy and her mummy. she didn't envy her friends for having mothers who could teach them how to bake cookies or knit clothes, she was happy that she had a father who took her playing football and swimming in rivers.
"oh my god, honey! eunjo!" a feminine yelp came from the sliding doors that led to the backyard. younghee put her hands on her waist, eyebrows furrowed to show that she clearly disapproved.
"how many times do i have to tell you, no playing around like this?" she marched forward and pulled eunjo up. "you are a girl! you have to act like one, which means you have to stay inside. you're not supposed to be wearing pants and running around."
she turned to her husband, getting up and brushing the dirt off his knees. "honey, i don't like this."
"we're just having fun," jongsun defended.
younghee rolled her eyes. "that's ridiculous. now eunjo, go take a shower and wear the dress i just bought you."

she was thirteen now and well, nothing her mother hoped for.
they had moved to seoul when she was ten as her mother couldn't stand the countryside of gwangju any longer. wonderful, she'd be seeing her beloved family even more. she terribly missed gwangju, where her father's side of the family was; they all showered her with love and affection, something not even her own mother had ever given her.
among her cousins, she stuck out like a sore thumb. they were all dolled up in summer dresses, hair flowing to their waists, lip gloss making their lips shine as they shared sickeningly sweet laughs. they were all intelligent, too; straight As, honour students, bright futures.
then there was eunjo. a failure. she stood in the corner, her dark hair styled in a boycut, rectangle glasses framing her face and the only thing shining about her were her braces. she seemed to shrink in her big hoodie and cargo pants. she wasn't a 'smart' one, she didn't do well at school. she was different. she didn't fit in with the rest of her family members on her mother's side and well, her relatives never failed to remind her of it. all her aunts and uncles looked at her as if she was trash.
ah, speak of the devils. her cousins approached her, cornering her to prevent her from running away. she didn't even know why they bothered about her so much.
"hey, lesbo," fifteen-year-old jaemi snickered. the endearing nickname had been used ever since eunjo cut her hair short. her dad said a haircut would be a good way to get rid of stress; thanks a lot, daddy. "did you even shower? you're dressed like you haven't."
"eww!" thirteen-year-old chaesoon pretended to vomit.
"omo, omo, joeun," fourteen-year-old saehwa laughed. how great of news was it that she attended the same school joeun did? "not only did you get the bottom ten placing for the last exam, you also got fatter!"
joeun couldn't handle it anymore. she left where she was and straight went into the bathroom, ignoring the girls' eerie chortles behind her. she wiped her never-ending tears with her sleeves as she caught her reflection's eye in the mirror — she cried even harder.
she hit her own stomach. then her arm. then her head. she looked down at her body that was nearly overweight. even though her dad told her that she was beautiful every day, she hated what she saw. she hated it so much.

joeun wanted to do music. she wanted to rap and dance and be on stage and make her father proud, so she decided to audition for mtm, a fairly new entertainment company. she was way too scared to try out for big compaines like the big three, so she decided to start out small first. and the joy it brought her when she was contacted to be informed that she was accepted as a trainee — her father hugged her so tight and even brought her to a buffet dinner.
sadly, her mother wasn't as excited about it. in her mother's (and her family) eyes, only high-paying jobs were acceptable. an idol? no, there is no such thing.
jongsun shook her head, glaring at his wife. the demonic woman he didn't know why and how he loved so much.
"you're wrong," he said. "she has my family name."
not giving younghee a chance to reply, jongsun continued, "you regret having eunjo and i would regret having married you and waste my time, but if i didn't, i wouldn't be blessed with such a gift — my daughter."
with that, fourteen-year-old eunjo witnessed the spark of her parents' divorce. their end was nasty; the elegant and admirable cha younghee couldn't bear the image as a divorcee, now could she?
after going in and out of court, her father managed to win custody over her and they lived together in a small apartment ever since. since her mother was the source of lavishness they had, they began living a much simpler, yet happier life. from a timid, insecure girl, she slowly blossomed into the beautiful, courageous person she is today — all thanks to her father. she never even talked to her mother since the divorce and honestly, she was thankful for it. all she needed was her dad. her softspoken, loving and gentle father supported her through everything, motivating her and most importantly, staying by her side. days as a trainee were difficult, but she had her dad who held her hand through it all.

» mornings for eunjo begin with the beautiful tune of her alarm at five in the morning. she lets out a deep breath, wondering if she could just get another wink of sleep... no, eunjo knows she can't. she forces herself off her mattress (yes, mattress, not bed) and blindly reaches for her glasses that she always leaves beside her as she sleeps. after sliding them on, she grabs the bottle of water (also something that must be beside her while she's sleeping) and takes a few gulps. she grabs her phone, eyes squinting, and sends a text to the person she loves most:

she stands up with a huff and finds her towel that she hangs on the bathroom door before claiming the bathroom as her own. she takes off her glasses and retainer, strips from her pyjamas and enjoys a hot shower that doesn't last any longer than five minutes.
wrapping her body with a towel, she spends around ten minutes at the sink — washing her face with facial cleanser, brushing her teeth, putting on contacts. she then brushes her hair as she leaves the bathroom, having put her pyjamas in the laundry basket.
she makes her way to her closet. she picks out matching underwear as she always does before putting on her clothes fit for training. she pulls her hair up into a ponytail and leaves her bedroom, not forgetting to take her sling backpack (filled with her phone, charger and a snack). not wanting to disturb her manager early in the morning, she cycles to mtm which isn't that far from the dorm anyways.
she has breakfast first. she always gets a heavy breakfast and once she's done, she makes her way to supreme's practice room while munching on a snack, her favourite being banana kick. she dances and dances and dances until afternoon comes when her stomach begins to grumble, begging to be fed. she'll have lunch with the people she practiced with. after eating, she's scheduled for vocal lessons. as she's positioned to be the lead rapper and a vocalist, she meets her rap coach for two hours and vocal coach for one. later, she goes back to dancing until the sun sets and she finally leaves the practice room for dinner. she still dances even after dinner, only it isn't as tense as before as it's a self-practice.
before she returns to the dorm, she discusess lyrics with the rap line and helps around with producing, as she's got a good ear for music. she goes home some time after midnight, having ensured all her little chicks have eaten. she doesn't sleep immediately — she cleans up around their apartment, makes sure the other girls have showered and then she begins her night routine: showering, taking off her contacts, putting on her retainer, washing her face cleanly.
then eunjo changes into comfy clothes and snuggles in. she doesn't take long to fall asleep, ready to wake up in just four hours.
this is her life as a trainee and after debut when she doesn't have a schedule — on the days that she's busy, her day is similar, only more chaotic with less time to sleep and eat

baekho was yoongi's first friend in mtm so naturally, the two were often together, hence eunjo frequently saw him around, but they never got the chance to have a solid conversation. they only did the hi-bye thing, yoongi even bowing to eunjo in respect for her being an older trainee and each time eunjo wanted to be friendlier with him, he'd already gone off. she tried many times until she gave up, believing that he just didn't like her, when the real reason yoongi wanted to stay away was so that he wouldn't have any distractions, he wanted to focus on training entirely. well, eunjo, the first girl to make his heart skip a beat, would definitely be a distraction.
it was in early 2012 when all 93-liners have turned legal and there were around eight months left to champion's debut that yoongi and eunjo became close. it was the midnight of january thirty-first and most trainees had left. yoongi was the last to leave the practice room and while on his way to leave the company, he found someone familiar loitering in front of the lobby, as if waiting for someone else. clearing his throat, he asked, "why aren't you going home, sunbae?". eunjo turned to look at him, honestly surprised that he talked to her and grinned sheepisly, "ah... well... i really want to go for a drink, but i'm only allowed to if i have someone with me. but all my legal friends are busy and my other friends are underaged, so... i'm just waiting to see if someone can come with me."

» yoongi wouldn't say it's love at first sight, but he's always had a crush on her since the first time they met. becoming friends made it even worse and on december sixteenth of year two thousand twelve, yoongi unwillingly accepted the fact that he loved her much more than a friend. unfortunately for him, he's horrible at shielding his feelings so everyone can see how much he's into her except her herself. yoongi loves eunjo with the entirety of his heart and honestly, he's whipped. she's the only girl who has his attention, the only person he needs to cheer him up during bad times, the only voice he needs to hear to be inspired to write and compose songs. if you want to see yoongi laugh when he's in a bad mood, watch him when he's with eunjo. he's not a fan of pda but watch him smiling when eunjo hugs him or pats his cheeks.
eunjo, on the other hand, only started having romantic feelings for him a year and a half after they became beer buddies. prior to that, he was just a really good friend of hers but watching him in the recording booth, rapping with his eyes closed with his hair a mess and shabby clothes, was enough to make her emotions go haywire. unlike yoongi, eunjo hides her feelings really well and the only person who knows is senah. when people tell her that yoongi is into her, she won't believe them. he was there with her when she got her tattoo in 2013; she needed company and as she planned for the tattoo to be a secret, she chose to bring the person she trusted most. he knew all about her family background, hence the tattoo was just a small secret for yoongi to keep.
the way they really treat each other, though, can make you think that they're on bad terms. they fight all the time about the stupidest things, they curse and insult one another and are harshly sarcastic. yoongi wil roll his eyes at eunjo's crazy antics and eunjo will stick her tongue at him when he's not looking. at the same time, they have good laughs together and can depend on each other to hang out no matter the time of the day. they are indeed beer buddies as they always go out for drinks when they're free and heart-to-heart talks are the only time they're really serious together. they're comfortable, able to joke around and share problems with each other. their different personalities are like two different puzzle pieces that fit together; well, they're just meant to be.

» in 2018, after eunjo's third dating rumour, yoongi couldn't take it anymore so he confessed to her through a handwritten letter that he got one of the supreme members to pass to her during one of the girls' day offs. eunjo, having a break from dance practice with the main dancer and lead dancer, immediately ran to his studio where he was working alone and kissed him without a single warning. shocking him more than the kiss were the tears in eunjo's eyes because the day before, she was called in by the high powers of mtm. three dating rumours involving mtm boys were too much, so she was banned from dating a labelmate for the rest of her idol career. well, yoongi didn't spend six years of waiting to be disappointed like that, so he proposed for them to date in secret, without anyone else knowing at all. with much hesitance, eunjo agreed, not knowing what the consequences will be.
