korean; jihae is a native korean, and so obviously has a seoul dialect. when speaking she has a loud and clear voice that's incredibly distinct and for a female she has a rather deep tone. she doesn't enunciate well and often slurs her words together, creating confusion. furthermore, her talking speed is faster than the average person so with the two huge speech flaws, anyone who meets her for the first time has no idea what she's talking about until someone who's used to her speed deciphers her sentences for the poor confused soul. naturally, jihae can read, speak, write and listen perfectly well.
japanese; jihae had spent two years abroad as an exchange student after her brother went there and ranted to his parents about how awesome the place was on the phone. her parents made her go for a year and although she was reluctant at first she ended up staying for an extra year because she really did fall for the place. she can speak and listen pretty well and can read and write with some difficulty. unless there are japanese members jihae would probably be the one who speaks in videos greeting japanese fans.

background : it is not easy having two older brothers living with you. especially not two rowdy males who aren't happy with each other. instead of being her parents' gem she became the twos' meditator and her mother treated her as the oldest child instead. and thus her cool front and calm exterior were born as she spent most of her childhood days standing in between her  ( very much taller ) older brothers with a frown on her face, chubby hands pushing the two away from each other.

however, the two brothers were able to get along when the topic of music came along. as if the three were born to belong in the music industry, the three siblings often put together little performances for their parents, with jiho and jihae singing/mumbling ( which later evolved to rapping ), jihae dancing as well and jiseok playing the drums, or more of hitting three plastic buckets. 

jihae's parents have always been lenient and they were fine with their three children chasing their dreams, provided that they'd achieve their dreams before they reached thirty or else it's back to reality for them. either way, all three started pursuing music sometime around middle school, jihae often writing up her own lyrics and performing them for her brothers. however, she wanted to prioritise her schoolwork first and although she sometimes performed with her two brothers and saebyul in hongdae, she never really went and chase her dream, whereas both her older siblings debuted.

other than that it should be worth noting that while jihae never really pursued her rapping dream, she did attend dancing lessons. specialising in hiphop and contemporary, she had dance lessons three days a week and was always very elated when she returned home. at school she had always been known as a superb dancer and she and saebyul would always sign up for talent shows and competitions, often winning.

when jihae was performing with saebyul in hongdae the night high school had ended. she just wanted to relax and have some fun, and even though no one recognized her and only surged to saebyul, she was content. but afterwards a man in a suit approached the two of them. brandishing a name card and introducing himself as the bang sihyuk, he asked the two to join his company.

saebyul detested the korean pop scene and had immediately said no in distaste. but jihae knew the situation she was in: she was a nobody. she wasn't even a well known underground rapper like saebyul- she was nobody. if she set out now, she'd pretty much fail. and jihae does not fail. so she took up the offer.

trainee life was difficult. jihae could rap and she could dance and even did pretty well in both aspects. but her singing was an absolute mess. she could only manage one octave and she couldn't sing at all when she danced. jihae was practically ready for debut if she just improved her singing skills, but, as some trainees liked to joke, god is fair. she had immense talent in rapping and dancing, but pretty much none in singing.

so yes, she spent the years at bighit practicing her singing over and over. now she's an average vocalist by idol standards, but in the eyes of vocal analysts she's a weak vocalist. no register in her voice is actually developed, but you can hear her voice incredibly stably in mr removed videos, and since fans eat those up, bighit is content with yeoyumoo's main rapper not actually being a "great vocalist" as they advertised.

trivia :
adopted a two year old alaskan malamute, haeji. it's living in the dorm and the four girls absolutely adore the dog.

how they met? they... kind of share the same mother, you see. all along, jiho has been the 'best' one out of the three siblings and because of that became sort of outcasted as the other two often ran off to play alone. every time he fought with jiseok jihae would break them apart but no matter what she always stood on jiseok's side. of course, now she's more level headed and mature, she's a meditator who doesn't favour any side, but they're still kind of awkward with each other. their relationship isn't as rocky as his and jiseok's, but when left alone the conversation dissipates relatively quickly and the two would just sit there without making a sound. they do care about and love each other, of course, but both would choose to show it through actions. he appreciates his sister's dream and is thus always introducing her to new people in the music industry so she can build her connections.

a meteor struck another meteor the day saebyul and jihae met. it was hate at first sight plainly because they didn't like how chic each other looked, but the teacher was shouting at saebyul to just sit down and stop glaring at each other and so the chronicles started. the petty actions and "your elbow is on my table"s stopped in two days because saebyul pulled off jihae's earphone and heard mc mong. saebyul stared at the earphone, gobsmacked, before grabbing jihae's wrist that had extended towards her to take the earphone back. saebyul raised a brow and said "I didn't know I'd find any common interests in you, but..." jihae blinked and let a small smile spread across her face and slowly handed the earphone to saebyul and the two spent the rest of the recess listening to music together. the turnaround shocked their classmates and now they are the most annoying pair of friends who bicker with each other about every tiny little thing twenty four seven. both show tough love and people actually think they hate each other at first.

taeil is jihae's precious teddy bear and cinammon roll and no one can ever hurt him ( or at least don't let her know if you do, but really, don't ). his gentle and demure nature wakens the motherly nature in jihae and the moment jiho introduced taeil to jihae her eyes had shone and she had went and called him oppa without permission. taeil's the only person she calls oppa and jihae frequents block b's dorm not to check up on her brother but to dote on the older male because, quoting jihae herself, he "is too pure for this world and I need to protect him from you six idiots".
