CHAE HYERIM [n.] he mobster's daughter, the school bully, the one you don't want to cross.
calling chae hyerim mean would be an understatement. often basing her own pleasure on someone else's pain, she knows just how powerful her family is and enjoys exerting the said power. calculative and intelligent, she finds happiness in others' misfortunes and in all honesty is a sadist. anyone at the high school knows hyerim for her blunt words and physical abuse to pretty much anyone who's weaker than her- and that's a lot of people, and we mean both by strength and power. beating people up whenever she feels like and treating everyone exactly the same without a care in the world, you might expect the big bully to be dumb, but hyerim is anything but that. everyone knows of her crimes but she's somehow able to cover up her tracks and make sure that the law never catches up with her- whether it's through manipulating or threatening or clean acting. if you thought her malice came from a trauma during her childhood or negligence by her parents, you'd be wrong. hyerim was just born this way. in short, if you're in 3b, try your very best to not cross hyerim's path, and steer clear of her. melt into the shadows and you'll be safe from the wrath that is chae hyerim.
 

background 
hyerim's sadistic nature did not come from her background or her family, it was always in her and her 'family' merely made it flourish. the daughter of chae 'baemnun' (lit. snake eye) hyunsoo, the head of one of the top seven mobster families in south korea and one of the various women he had with, hyerim was taken under her father's wing, not because he had a conscience, but because he wanted to see the woman suffer for bearing his child without his permission. he'd plan on nurturing hyerim into a twisted person and give her the task of killing her own mother when she was of age and then lay all the blame on her and throw her into prison, all the while without hyerim knowing who the victim was. 

imagine his surprise when he lifted five year old hyerim onto his lap to witness a massecre and expected the child to burst into tears, but on the contrary, the child took the scene in calmly, and to the shock of everyone at the scene, a small and seemingly innocent smile spread on her face after the deed was done and blood splattered onto her. it sent a chill down hyunsoo's spine, but he dismissed the feeling. afterwards, he kept hyerim by his sides at all time so she could take notice of the crimes he committed every day. when she was eight, he brought her into a warehouse and asked, in the most jovial tone he could muster, for hyerim to "kill this man for daddy, please, hyerim-ah?" and handed her a small pocket knife. hyerim shook her head, shoved her tiny hand into hyunsoo's and asked for "a thinner knife, the water you use to burn people with, daddy and a match please!" in the most innocent voice possible. seeing the child cut off the man's skin before burning him alive and asking for his underlings to bury him somewhere far away and deep, hyunsoo realized he had raised and nurtured a monster, and that his own life would be in danger when hyerim grew older.

and that was how chae hyunsoo began to be afraid of a eight-year-old little girl and distanced himself from her. he knew that hyerim was more intelligent than he ever accounted for and that her nature would make killing him a very easy task for her, and in futile attempts to gain her trust and affection, he satisfied every need hyerim wanted and that is how hyerim started learning muay thai and judo since she was nine. he wasn't stupid enough to give her weapons and such, but he knew that if he shut hyerim off completely he would be even more screwed. hyerim knows how he thinks and finds him utterly pathetic. she also knows the deal between him and her mother, and why he took him in.

let's just say chae hyunsoo's death will be coming shortly.
 

trivia 
001 — she's killed. not frequently, but you could say she has a little subsidary in her father's family and she's been the one to handle the situation for a few times. and every single time someone else takes the fall as the detectives follow the trail she laid. she's a good fighter and rarely uses weapons. pipes, if she must.

002 — hyerim is not completely devoid of emotions, as most would believe. hatred and anger are her most prominent emotions, obviously. happiness and affection are foreign emotions, but she has felt it before, even if she doesn't notice. even if she did, she wouldn't admit it. it's the warm feeling she feels when she's around her mom and the lightness around seungcheol and wonchul. fear is not something she has ever felt, but the battle royale provides numerous opportunities.

003 — she cannot stand people touching her, at all, not even people who brush against her in crowds, and thus always wears long sleeves and long pants. her limbs are deathly pale for a reason. she also really can't stand the smell of blood, ironic really. she won't faint from it and isn't afraid of blood, of course, but she gags.

004 —it wouldn't be a surprise to know she's not a . other than that, she's currently living in a 600sq. feet apartment with wonchul in nokbeon and the latter cooks, cleans, ands gives her relief.

005 — during her killings in the battle, she tends to give a small smile, murmur 'hyerim says hi!' and drive her weapon into whichever poor soul she's torturing.

 

relationships 

if you had to know, jiyeon is now only thirty six, so you might be able to calculate how old she was when she gave birth to hyerim. hyerim found out her mother's identity and whereabouts a long time ago, and has been visiting her regularly. no, she hasn't appeared at jiyeon's salon's doorstop and announced that she was her daughter- she's just been a regular, and her ochre bob is jiyeon's handicraft. they know each other very well, and jiyeon is hyerim's sole soft spot, and it's as if hyerim's sadistic nature goes away for a bit when she's chatting with the woman ( doesn't stop her from imagining the rush she'd feel if she just turned around, grabbed a pair of stray scissors, and stab everyone in the shop ) and sometimes even laughs. needless to say, she's got people keeping tabs on jiyeon and she will flip her lid if anything ever happens to her mother. probably the only person she'd be hesistant about killing. emphasis on hesistant, not refuse to.

the son of hyunsoo's trusted right-hand man, nineteen year old wonchul has been by hyerim's side since they were just children, and his mental state is the same as hers, if not worse. perhaps it's seeing too much gore as a child, or it's because he's spent too much time with hyerim killing innocent squirrels, and while not a sadist like hyerim, he doesn't see the wrong in killing and has no qualms with doing so. they live together because their fathers were both deathly afraid of their children and wanted them to stay away but knew if the two were apart things would go down, and they pretty much took each others' ity on hyerim's sixteenth birthday. they have a pretty inappropriate relationship filled with lust, lust and more lust, and hyerim tops. they have affinity for each other, they dismiss it and disregard it. if needed, both of them wouldn't hesistate to kill each other, but they might, just might, whisper what they really think about each other before finishing each others' lives. they do love each other, in their own twisted way.

choi seungcheol is the pathetic kid who acts like a bully and kisses hyerim's at school. hyerim finds him utterly stupid and is yet weirdly protective of the guy. she doesn't find his jokes funny, but has to tamp down her smile when he acts up and speaks like a dad, all the while trying to be 'hip', or so he claims. they'll probably start out with seungcheol on hyerim's tail during the battle, and she might even protect him during attacks because hell the kid really can't fight. whent the time comes she won't blink an eye when killing him, but she'll feel empty for around five seconds and she'd probably spare him the torture.

life as a student so you might have expected hyerim to rank last, sleep during lessons, but pass anyways because the teachers are deathly afraid of her father, but that's not true. in fact, hyerim actually pays attention during lessons ( as well as to all the other things happening around her ) and while not a top student, she's able to be in the upper quartile, which gives the teachers one more reason to not call her out on her bullying. she spends most of her breaks sitting there observing her students and taking in every detail she notices, and when she sees anything that irks her, and the tiniest thing irks her, really, she stands up and people cower. she doesn't have a specific target, it could be a random classmate, it could be a teacher, it could be someone she passes on the street. 

contrary to what movies and dramas portray, she doesn't have minions or anything similar: one might find seungcheol to be one, but everyone can see hyerim doesn't really like having him around. she moves alone and her alone can make people part in the hallway in fear of having their hair pulled just so hyerim can clear the way for herself. naturally she has no commitments to any clubs and societies, not that any would accept her anyways.

usage of weapon 
SHURIKEN: hyerim had no idea how to use it since her throw, frankly, , and she might even cut her own hand when holding it. she wouldn't give it away either as she knows how deadly it could be as well. as soon as the battle started she went and buried it. someone might find it, but that's not her main concern. she did bury it quite deep, and she doesn't think people'll have the time to be digging around. further along the story she digs it up and uses it to slice the skin of her victims just for the sheer pleasure of seeing them writh in pain.
PIPE WRENCH: probably not the most appealing weapon at first sight, but since hyerim usually uses either her fists or a pipe, she knows how to strike with the wrench, and likes going for the temple or the back of her opponent's head. but realy, hitting anywhere would equal broken bones, so the wrench is something hyerim values a lot. she sleeps with it in her arms, just in case.
BRASS KNUCKLES: hyerim can pack an excellent punch, and the brass knuckles just make her punches worse. she wears it on her right hand twenty four seven and one punch in the face makes her opponent get a nose bleed and a few more and he or she's coughing up blood. it's something she finds incredibly valuable.
TREE BRANCH: before you start laughing at this, you'd like to know that hyerim has killed a boy with it before. she literally just picked it up from the ground when she was under attack by the male, and in a fit of white fury, hit his head and drove it into his chest with brute force. she's sharpened one end of the branch to a sharp point to stab people with and the other side is used to hit. quite useful, really, but she easily scratches and cuts her own arm using it. 
TRACKER: acquired from someone, she's forgotten, really, the person she acquired it from isn't important. she uses it frequently to stage her attacks, and she's able to see which foolish student is trying to attack her, and would be able to think up a defense strategy in a matter of minutes and oh, you know, save her .
AXE: this is seemingly the best weapon she has, but it's actually the weapon she uses least. she can handle it and doesn't find it too heavy, but it's annoying having to bring it around and with all her other weapons the axe just seems unnecessary. she supposes it can be very efficient, but with an axe in her hand, she finds defending herself rather hard, and so the axe is reserved for those remarkably strong and those who she just wants to finish up quickly.

strengths 
HAND TO HAND COMBAT: probably doesn't come as a surprise, since she's hoenstly best at fighting with punches and kicks. she can take down three untrained grown men by herself, and she'd struggle with a trained man, but she still has a solid chance of winning. needless to say, those in 3b aren't exactly the best at close range combat, so she's the best fighter our of all the players, and fighting with her fists is something she's most comfortable doing. she can take blows to her head without fainting ( immediately, at least ) and can still fight even if she has wounds and bleeding in non vital areas, like her arms. granted she'll be much weaker, but she's going to keep fighting anyways.
STRATEGY: constantly observing her classmates have paid off and hyerim knows all their weak points, using her words to break down their emotions before going in for the kill. she can think up a fully detailed plan in minutes and is usually able to execute them perfectly.
STAMINA: when you grow up as a mobster's daughter it's pretty hard to not have great stamina. she can run a few kilometres without racking up coughs and sweating crazily. it's worth noting that while she can a long distance for a long while, she doesn't run quickly. it's either short spurts or long, even running. which is why she prefers to stay in a spot and wait for people to come and attack her. 
GUITLESSNESS: she doesn't blink an eye when killing anyone, and is thus free of any emtotional weight that some carry. she finds it thrilling and doesn't see the problem of it. she shows no remorse whatsover, and doesn't even flinch when blood splatters everywhere.

weaknesses
WEAPONRY: since hyerim is used to winning with her fists, she can be pretty awkward handling weapons. she's able to hold them and bring them around without breaking a sweat ( except the axe ), but she's not exactly the quickest when it comes to handling them. she manages, but is weak in that aspect.
ESCAPE: incredibly prideful and confident in her abilities, she's completely sure that she'll win whatever she's engaged in, and doesn't have an escape plan. she has backup attacking plans, but she's never really thought of how to escape, which is weird, since she's pretty intelligent.
COOPERATION: it's probably better to work alone in a battle like this, since teamates easily turn onto each other, but there will be times when it's better having a teamate watch your back and help you, at least for the time being. while lots would like to team up with hyerim and plan to kill her in her sleep, she's pretty much slaughtered anyone who's come up and asked for an alliance. she's incredibly alert and doesn't trust anyone at all, and so she's always, always alone.
TORTURE: hyerim finds killing fun and treats it as a hobby, and so enjoys tortuing her victims till their last breath. ranging from skinning them alive to drowning them to hacking their arms repeatedly to hurt but not kill them, it's not a big problem- except for the fact that the pained screams are so loud it attracts everyone's attention. furthermore, the scenes she leaves behind are incredibly bloody with organs everywhere, and thus she has to move places frequently. it also makes tracking her remarkably easier.
strategy with her large amount of heavy weapons and her pride, instead of moving around, she prefers staying in one spot until someone comes running in hopes of finishing her off or when some unlucky soul stumbles upon her abode.

I just realized that hyerim could easily be takeru herself or the one takeru hates most. flexible, yay! way to go, ying. on the other hand, this is my first app in ages so my skills are very rusty, and I apologize for this very bad app. I'm sorry if the background is a bit too dramatic but that's really how I imagined hyerim to be and hey if takeru's able to whip up this whole battle royale, then why can't hyerim's background be like...that?

suggestions hyerim is a disaster and deserves to be killed off, since her strengths are actually evened out by her weaknesses. but there is no denying that hyerim is a strong fighter, and she'll probably be one of the last few survivors. her pride would probably lead to her downfall. or you could have her survive, go back, kill her dad, then hang herself. in short, I think hyerim should die. maybe I'll add in scene requests if she gets chosen.
