CULTURE

Hey guys! I would like to share this interesting topic we discussed earlier. It's about other countries cultures, but its just a brief discussion since we don't really elaborate it. So I would like to know what is your country's culture :D

for us filipinos we have this habit of greeting old people. We will held their hand and place the back of it to our forehead as a sign of respect.. .like this one

if we did this to the elders they will answer back "Pagpalain ka ng Diyos" or in english "God bless you"

I really want to know your country's culture.. .will you share it to me :D

comment your culture and say proudly which country you belong! I'll be waiting for it and maybe I'll share it in class since my classmates are all interested as well (too bad our professor cut it earlier).. .thank you for participating ;)

In india we respect the elders by crouching n touching their feet. They keep their right hand on our heads n bless us

Where I'm originally from, you have to get on your knees and shake hands with every visitor/elderly that is at your house.

In America we have many different cultures. It depends on who you are and your preference how respectful you behave.

I'm from France, and honestly. .. it is common saying that french people m don't respect their elders as they should (not everyone, but must of the people). Often families don't want to take care of the elder's so they simply put them in retirement house (is that how it is called? ^^') and yeah... growing old in france isn't something that cool ^^'

As for greeting we shake hands, but we have something that is really french x'D it's called "bise". Basically you kiss the other person on the cheek as a greeting. Twice, thrice or four times, depending on your customs ^-^ it's something you do with friends and family, but not with someone that is higher than you in the work hierarchy or such ^^' anyways that's something I really don't like x'D because you never know from wich side to begin kissing, and there's just too much proximity >~< (bad breaaaath ×_× )

That's it ^♢^

tbh As an American I feel like our culture has a lack of... respect? Idk how to say it but we don't really have a way to greet elders, but well we are taught to respect them, like help them or talk to them respectfully and listen to what they have to say because they are wiser. idk as an American who actually prefers Japanese culture, maybe i'm biased XD

I'm from Malaysia! Well for my family,we call our elderlies or even relatives based on their rankings. Say for example, cny wasn't quite long ago and so when i see a relative of mine i don't just call them aunty or uncle. They could be my grandaunty regardless of age,and i am an aunty to my cousin because of the rankings in our family tree and let me tell u that my family tree from both my mom & dad's side are complicated, so we spend time in the car thinking about how we should address that person xD

I am from America, but I don't think we have a greeting quite like that. We simply say hello and shake each other hands as greeting but doesn;t every body do that? Lol I wouldn't know. But if you have any questions about anything else ask away^^
