[!!!] How often should Authors update ???

You don't have to be my subscriber to answer this : )))

If you're an author then please share your answer, and if you're a reader then please do too <3

Since I'm focusing on one fanfic right now, I want to know how often do you update your fanfics, like how many times in a month maybe. OR if you're a reader how many times do you think an author should update in a month or...whatever you want ^^" (don't be too bossy lol)

But I'll also take your answers as how often should I update so I'm curious.

p.s. for a person who has school btw not in vacation or something haha OTL

So please share your answer/opinion <3

I'm one of this author who need such a long time to write a chapter and the think I need to balance too. Since in the month there are three weeks plus 3 days I think 3 times in a month, but we must also count the fact that maybe someone takes longer to write a chapter instead of other authors, so if you can't three times a week, better take your time write a good chapter and as soon as you're done update it. And maybe try to remember how much you took to write a chapter and try to keep that pace.

I wish there was one chapter once a week, but honestly I'd rather there was more than one a day ahahah Just kidding...it depends on the story you're writing and on the way you write. There are some kinds, like short chapters or chapters that are only long because there are hundreads of dots and spaces between sentences, that should upload often and others, that are longer and better written, that should upload every two-three weeks, because I imagine it takes a while to write everything!

There's one fic that I follow that's in between this two kinds of story...for that fic...I wish she'd at least update once a month T.T Authornim, if you're here at least feel guilty...3 months without uploading T.T

I think once a week is a pretty good balance. That way, subscribers won't get bored or forget about your story, which might happen if it takes too long to update. Also, it gives you time to write a good chapter without being stressed. But really it kind of depends on the amount of inspiration and free time.

I have gone from updating every second day to writing longer chapters and update them once a week, but it also depends on the writing. Once a week og twice in a month is good. I have like Four not completed stories that I write at the same time and one of them haven't been updated since June last year because I simply can't do it.. so it depends a lot on how things are.

^^ Everyone have their own charm. I do feel like you tend to update once a month at least.. I'm not quite a time follower, but I do tend to read the last part of the chapter before your update just to make sure I know where we are in the plot, but I do that with every story -.- People tend to get angry when authors don't update often (believe me, I know) but don't force yourself to write. It's not a job, it's a hobby, or just a fun relaxing thing. ~.^ As a reader of your work I have to say that I know the struggle of writing sometimes and I don't mind that you take the time to update <3 keep going strong! Hwaiting!!!

I am a university student and have a part time job and I am an author. Outside of exam period and when work isn't too tiring plus when I have motivation I tend to update weekly or at least once in two weeks. Also, I have a lot of stories on going at the same ime, so it can happen that I update weekly in general but one story on its own only in two or three weeks.
Most important is not the time to update though but that you have fun at it and don't force yourself. The readers should be patient and if not, just screw them because they probably don't know how it is to have a real life and be an author xD

I usually want to update once every two weeks but if I'm stuck or if something comes up or stuff it'll take longer, obviously. I prefer not to let it take a month but it happens and it's sad but that's it. Thankfully I have very very lovely readers who doesn't pressure me into updating but rather tells me to take the time I need because they love my stories so much that they're willing to wait for them (thank you, thank you, thank you to all my lovely lovely readers!!!) so yeah. <3

i only do one shot or drabble more. so i only update when i got inspiration or when i am free and i want to. a long chapter one, more than ten, i have one in draft but for now im planning on finishing it first bcs idk if i will lost interest and idea as time goes by. in the making. so am thinking of finishing then publish or may not publish it at all.

chaptered one in the past that i've made, i update it once a week since its not that long too. just do which ever make you feel happy and will not burden by it

I'm an author so here's what I think.
There's a really important factor that should be taken in consideration for answering the question: How long is a chapter of the story. If a chapter is 3-7 pages (Microsoft, Calibri/Times New Roman, 11-12) then I think once every week is OK. But if a chapter is 12-20 or more pages then once a month is more than perfect.
Also...an author should not feel forced to update. Take your time, personal life comes first.
For instance I have exams now so I only write when I can. It's been pretty long since I've updated (soon will be a month for one of my stories) but there's nothing I can do about it...I need to study.
Also if you have no inspiration to write a chapter it's better to take longer to update than to post a bad/boring chap, no?
So yeah...there's not such thing as exact time for updates. You update when you can.
I hope I helped a bit ^_^
