show me your fashion. — Ki seong's fashion is very eclectic. it ranges from relaxed, tomboy-chic to indie rock babe. Mot of the time, it could be described as "modern steampunk." She has spent years hiding her body and burying herself in oversized mounds of fabric that now that she has lost the weight, she's still trying to find what style she likes the most. She still hates showing off her arms and stomach, but she will still make fashion choices that force her to do just that in an attempt to overcome that fear and anxiety (example). personality. — when it comes to ki seong's music and career, she is very focused and ambitious. once she sets her mind on a goal, she won't stop until she achieves that goal. She can also be very independent in her efforts, prefering to compose the group's songs by herself, late at night, with a bottle of wine and no distractions. This can also be quite negative because if she was allowed, she could haul herself up in a room for days on end working on compositions and not interact with others (mainly because she's used to being on her own that it's second nature to her now). her friends, the other members, and hyun bin will often have to drag her away if she gets in too deep to make sure that she eats properly and doesn't get too stuck within the project. She is a sensitive person and takes critiques to heart, which can cause her to be very emotional. However, on the positive end of that, because she is sensitive herself, she is keen on other people's emotions and has a kind heart that will always try to look out for others to make sure that they are okay (she will try to hide out kind she is by acting aloof, but everyone who knows her can see through that guise quite easily). Because of the verbal abuse she received from the public and people around her prior to being a member of mask, she is a very self-critical person and very pessimistic towards herself. She is trying to break both of these habits about herself, but especially when she's stressed or when she is encountering a lot of criticism, she falls back into this box of insecurities and will be very critical of herself and her appearance.
background. — Ki seong was born in Busan, but not long after she was born, her father passed away. After her father's death, she and her mother moved to Jeju to live with her parents. Ki seong had an ordinary childhood; she grew up spoiled being the only child and given that her mother was raising her by herself. despite how much her family loved her, ki seong spend much of her time by herself because of her grandparents age and her mother having to work numerous jobs to provide for them. Her mother will still say that the reason why Ki seong got fat was because they spoiled her too much-- that she didn't know the feeling of being in need, so she would "be greedy" with her food. Ki seong would disagree and say, instead, that food was always there for her, even when everyone else wasn't. Food comforted her when others shunned her or were too busy for her. Food was her best friend, her only friend. That, and music. Ki seong fell in love with music at a young age. She would save up her money to buy secondhand equipment to practice making music and eventually, when she got older and could afford better equipment, she started to compose her own songs and put them up on Youtube for others to see. it was through her youtube videos that she was discovered by some talent scouts for big hit. Of course she agreed, but after a few years of ridicule from the netizens for her appearance, she quit and retreated back into the shadows.
At her heaviest, Ki seong was 120kg. at the age of 17, she was diagnosed with diabetes. the doctors told her if she did not change her lifestyle and lose the weight, she would die within the next couple years. Not wanting to die, ki seong started to diet and exercise and she lost 60kg over the course of 2 years. However, the dramatic weight loss left her with excess skin around her abdomen and she wasn't able to lose her thick thighs and chubby face. even though she had lost all of the weight, the words from her past still stuck with her and her relationship with food is still a daily struggle for her. She stayed in her small studio and composed songs under the name "emerson," but received no credit for them. Eventually, she sold enough songs to enough companies that she was able to get surgery to remove the excess loose skin, but which left her with faint red scars that ran the length of the underside of her biceps, which she covers with tattoos (see appearance). After a couple of years of working by herself, the a weight began to form in ki seong's stomach as she felt like she was meant to do so much more than what she was doing; that she wasn't pushing herself to be all that she could be. It was the first time in years that she started to regret leaving behind Selena and the others at big hit and the idol life. That sinking feeling that she was letting her talent go to waste is what caused her to accept Selena's offer when she approached her to join sts entertainment.

She saw everything as black and white, no gray area, and began to view her daughter as lazy and spoiled. when ki seong lost the weight, her mother's response was "finally, my daughter is doing something with the life I gave her." ; 5.5

They had even had a slight fling, but it ended when ki seong left big hit. for a while, their relationship as friends was quite strained and they weren't sure how to act around each other. however, over time, they were finally able to sit down and talk about it and selena was able to understand why ki seong had to leave. selena has always been someone that ki seong has been able to trust and talk to whenever she needs ; 9

Being a trainee with the others was difficult because she was used to being on her own for so long. it took her a while to start to depend on the other girls and seek them out to better herself. her trainee life was more mentally difficult than anything else because she had to overcome the obstacles and the scars that were left behind when she was in the public eye before.

personality. — hyun bin is actually quite a silly, sweet person. he cares deeply for the ones that he loves and becomes very protective of them and their feelings. He is not afraid to stand up for the ones he loves and fight for them. He can be quite the goofball and he loves to make people laugh and smile. he is a patient person, but even his patience has limits. When he has reached his limit, he has a quiet anger. He doesn't yell, rather, he will go silent, let the person finish, and get very serious, which is often more scary than the actual yelling. he can be a bit jealous when it comes to people that he is in a relationship with. Usually he is good at keeping that emotion under control in that he won't get angry or pissed off, but if ki seong is fangirling over someone or talking about how much she likes a certain guy, he will try to find flaws for that person and will the proceed to redirect the attention to him; for example, if ki seong would start going on about how much she loves san e and how amazing he is, hyun bin might start tickling her or will playfully press kisses to her skin wherever he can and say something teasing like, "well, san e can't do this, now can he?"
how you met/meet. — The two met at an after party that took place after a press event that hyun bin participated in for his performance in a recent drama. One of ki seong's closer acquaintances invited her to the after party, thinking that it would be good for her to get out, but to also schmooze and rub elbows with some people that could become influential in her career if she ever needed them. Ki seong hated the party; she felt self-concious and she hated being around so many people; she also hated all of the cameras around. She felt like any moment, they would be her and her picture would be plastered all over the internet with salacious headlines and coments. hyun bin, who may or may not have been a little tipsy (he would argue til his death bed, being the cheesy person he is, that he was simply "drunk on her beauty" *gag* c;) came over and started talking to ki seong. Even though talking to him made her uncomfortable at first, ki seong soon realized that talking with hyun bin was nice-- not easy, but nice. they found they had a lot in common and when ki seong wanted to leave, hyun bin refused to let her go without taking his number.
interactions. — so the gif to the right describes their intereactions accurately. Hyun bin is always the one to try and pull ki seong out of her comfort zone and ki seong, represented by the whale, will bat him back because she is afraid of being vulnerable and of being hurt. because of her past, ki seong has a hard time trusting hyun bin and trusting his word, which is frustrating for him, but since he really cares about her, he doesn't give up and fights to change her mind. an example of this would be when he says she's beautiful/pretty/gorgeous/etc. She has a hard time believing those words because he's really the first person to use those terms to describe her and she's not used to it; so she usually brushes them off with a light "shut up," and a playful slap to the shoulder. the only time he really gets upset or frustrated with her is when she starts to talk badly about herself. when ki seong is able to let her guard down, the two are actually a cheesy couple. they pull jokes on each other and say cheesy, sweet things to each other.
how you act around other people/variety shows. — they try to keep their relationship lowkey in the public eye. Hyun bin doesn't really mind if people find out, but he knows what drama it could stir up for ki seong and he doesn't want her to get hurt so for her sake he tries to keep it quet on his part as well. when they are on variety shows separately and are asked about ideal types, or if they have a significant other, they will say that there is someone special in their lives, but won't go into much detail other than describing personality, and maybe something that they like about each other. When it is just them with the other members, or the managers or selena, hyun bin doesn't feel the need to hide the skinship. he won't go much beyond holding her hand or putting his arm around her or give the ocassional kiss or nuzzle to the head. Even though he holds back a little bit on the skinship, he's still incredibly cheesy with ki seong, which often causes her to blush and try to play 'tsundere' even when it's hopeless.
