birthnameHamada Yoshiro
other names

— Hero ; Hero was chosen as his stage name for two reasons: one, it is a play on the last part of his first name (Yoshiro) and two, because he hopes to be a hero in the KPOP industry.

nicknames

— Yoshi: The nickname was given to him by close, childhood friends because he's small and cute like Yoshi and has, perhaps, an unhealthy love for Super Mario Bros. The nickname seemed to stick and he still goes by it to this day.

—Yoshi has short black hair that he likes to dye or highlight every now and then. He's short and lean-muscled. His charming point is that he has three beauty marks on his right cheek. personality

— (Creative , Dedicated , Wise , Popular) ; Yoshi is a creative person. He developed this trait from his mother who instilled a love for the arts in him at such a young age. He always tries to look at problems from a different angle to find a solution that others haven't thought of and he finds inspiration in everything around him. He is a dedicated person in that when he says that he will do something, he does it. It is hard to get him to give up and even if he has moments of weakness where he does actually want to throw in he towel, someone around him will awaken the voice inside him that doesn't let him give up so easy. He is a wise person; he loved school when he younger because he loved learning new information, especially if it was history related. Moreover, he's one of the older members of the group and has been through that "awkward teen" phase so the younger members will come to him for advice and view him as wise on those issues. Even though he's more introverted than other members of Sun, it almost works in his favor as he tends to be one of the popular ones; he can't exactly pinpoint if it's because of his being Japanese or if it's because he's shy, or any of the other myriad of reasons. Whatever the case may be, he'll take it.

— (Curious , Generous , Humble , Observant) ; Yoshi is a very curious and observant person. He wants to be in the know and he is always quietly observing everyone and everything, thus he is always asking questions to get more information. This may lead for him to come off a bit nosy, but his natural curiosity and inate hate for being the last one to know anything keeps him from minding too much. He is a generous and humble person as well. When he cares about someone, he doesn't mind lending them money or sharing things with them to help them whenever he can. In the past, he's been burned for that generosity and has been taken advantage of because of it, but it hasn't stopped him from continuing to be a generous person. He hasn't let his popularity or the popularity of Sun get to his head; he knows how much work he and the other members have put in to get where they are and he knows how much other trainees at other companies have put in, so he doesn't take anything for granted or let it go to his head.

— (Introverted , Perfectionist , Dogmatic , Strong-willed) ; Yoshi is a naturally shy or introverted person, but this trait is only compounded by his lack of Korean. He tends to stay to himself, or only open up to a few people. On TV shows, he tends to stay quiet in hopes to fade into the background, but he's noticed it doesn't quite work that way in Korea. The more quiet he is and the more he appears to want to avoid speaking, the more people want to engage with him, which makes him very flustered. Fans will note the first stage of discomfort is one (or both) hand(s) gripping on his thigh(s) and redness at the tip of his ears. He is a perfectionist and is strong-willed. He strives to be "perfect" on everything, especially anything related to his career, and everything has to be a certain way. This often leads him to being stressed out, especially when things aren't going the way that he thinks they should be. He is also very dogmatic, which means that it's hard to get him to change his mind on things; if he's stuck on something having to be one way or something is one way, then it is nearly impossible to get him to think otherwise unless there is physical proof that it is not that way or that his way won't work.

background

— Yoshi grew up in Japan, in Matsuyama to be specific. His mother, a teacher, has always been a fan of the arts and from a young age pushed him in that direction. From a young age, he was always interested in music, so she enrolled him in classes to learn guitar and when he got older, she got him singing lessons as well. He knew early on that no matter what he did in life, he wanted to do something involving music, despite his father's protests that he should go into civil service like him. He was introduced to the world of KPOP through DBSK/TVXQ. He was a a pre-teen when they debuted in Korea and a teenager when they made their official debut in Japan. He found them so interesting and he loved how different Korean pop music was compared it's Japanese counterpart. With TVXQ in particular, he loved the lyrical complexity of their songs. They weren't shallow, meaningless pop tunes; they had sustenance and depth. At 16 years of age, he decided he wanted to be an artist like the member of TVXQ and perform meaningful songs that touched the listeners. He was also touched by Jaejoong's past and determination and vowed that if Jaejoong could make his dreams come true, he would too. During his teenage years, he started to learn to dance. Going off of what he knew about KPOP artists, he would have to know how to dance if he wanted to be successful in the industry. He took a dance classes in high school as electives and used the money from his part-time job to pay for them outside of school as well. After graduating high school, he dedicated his time to singing, dancing, and saving money, then at 20 years old, he made the move to Korea by himself to become an idol.

trivia

— Likes

• Food ; He is a giant foodie

• Reading ; Nonfiction is his favorite genre as he loves learning about new things and people

• Rock and Pop/Rock music ; His favorite English group of the moment is Linkin Park and his favorite Korean rocker is Kim Kyung Ho.

• Swimming ; He would live in the water if he could.

• Plush toys ; They're soft and cute. What more can he say?

• History ; He's probably going to sound like the biggest dork, but he actually really loves to history and historical events, especially if he's able to learn about them through someone who is equally as passionate about the material as he is.

— Dislikes

• Movies ; Dislike is a strong word-- he just isnt really a movie/TV person

• Spicy food ; His stomach can't handle it at all

• Cold ; He has poor circulation and gets cold easily and he hates it.

• The Dark ; He's 26 years old and he still feels uneasy when he's in a dark place, often running from one end of the dorm to the other if he has to get something and it's nighttime

• Being called short ; Yes, he's short. Yes, he's probably the shortest member of the group. Does he like being reminded of how short he is? No!

• Dairy ; He is lactose sensitive (as most Asians are) and it, like spicy food, does not sit well in his stomach and makes him feel awful when he eats it.

— Hobbies

• Working out ; Yes, even the shrimpy one of Sun likes to work out. His typical work out routine consists of lifting weights and gymnastics (gotta stay flexible, of course).

• Nail art ; Hear him out. He used to think it was kind of stupid and something that only girls did. But, he really looks up to Lee Hong Gi (FT Island) and after seeing one of his idols do it, he changed his opinion and started to think it was pretty cool. Still, he settles for basic black polish on the regular.

• Sleeping ; As a trainee, and really as an idol, you never really get to sleep-- or at least get good, quality sleep. That is why, whenever and wherever he can, Yoshi can be found sleeping.

• Studying Korean ; Let's be real here. His Korean ; it's awful. You know it, he knows it, everybody knows it. Therefore, Yoshi has to dedicate at least 1 hour out of his day to studying it, usually from his phone on the way from one schedule to another.

— Fears

• Needles ; Ironically, because he has a plethora of tattoos, Yoshi is afraid of needles. He can't explain why tattoo needles are different than the others for him, but his best guess is because they don't penetrate the body the way doctor's needles do.

• The Dark ; Explained above.

• Heights ; He absolutely hates being at any type of height, not so much because of the height itself but out of a fear of falling; he falling is what scares him the most. If one of the other male members picks him up, he'll often scream and fuss, but cling on for dear life for fear of being dropped.

— Habits

• Running ; When he needs to think about something, or even clear his mind, he will go for a run.

• Bouncing his knees/Fidgety ; Whether it's a nervous habit or he has undiagnosed restless leg syndrome, Yoshi just can't kep his legs still when he's sitting. If they're not bouncing, he'll spin in his chair (if it spins).

• Binging ; Being a trainee, you are very busy 99.99% of the time. Sometimes you can eat, and sometimes you can't. And sometimes, you're just so tired or stressed or distracted that you simply forget to eat. Often times, Yoshi will forget to eat, or won't eat during the day due to his schedule, and then he'll binge eat at night, eating really anything he can get his hands on.

— Misc.

• He has an entire keepsake box filled with pens; he loves stationary and pens are a vice of his, especially if they're cute. His current favorite is the one with topped with a black cat's head, whose face bares a sassy "I'm done," expression.

• He is a Buddhist; he meditates every morning and every night (even if that means getting up earlier than the other members and going to bed after they do) and he wears his mala everyday, either as a necklace or looped around his wrist like a bracelet.

• He is not a morning person. In fact, he has to set 4 alarms on his phone at 5-10 minute intervals, starting 30 minutes before he actually gets up, just to make sure he isn't late in the mornings.

• He rooms with Moon. At first, he was uncertain if he would be comfortable to room with the boy, six years his junior. However, they bonded over their mutual love for dance and Moon even became Yoshi's unofficial-official tutor (though he claims he did it because he didn't want to be embarrassed by Yoshi's Korean when Sun officially debuts, not out of sheer kindness c;).

• His blood type is AB.

• SNS: @ Yo.Hero9011 (a play on "your hero" and his birth year and month)

• He is the youngest of four children; he has two older sisters (28 and 29) and one older brother (31).

• He is a complete momma's boy; being away from Japan and away from his mom is hard on him. He calls or messages her every day to check on her and assure her that he is doing well.

• He loves to go shopping, but he often has to restrain himself because there isn't much room in the closet he shares with Moon.

• He loves to cool and he's actually really good at it. His favorite things to cook are beef negimaki and seafood udon.

• He has a notebook full of songs that he's written.

• He can play the guitar and piano.

• He loves DBSK/TVXQ; they were the ones to get him into KPOP and his favorite has and always will be Jaejoong.

relationships

— Friend • Moon / 20 / Sun / ? (not listed on his page) / Yoshi rooms with Moon, so he was sort of forced to become close with him; he figured he could've survived without getting that close to him, but he figured that it would be very awkward and uncomfortable if he didn't at least try. The male was nice and Yoshi knew that; his apprehension came from Moon's age. Could he really be considered friends with a 20 year old? Wouldn't that be weird? Regardless whether it was weird or not, they were in a group together and he had to get along with and like his groupmates so he put his apprehension aside and ended up becoming close with Moon. Moon considers himself Yoshi's "Korea ambassador," and likes to take him out to show him different things and tutors him in Korean.

— Best Friend • Sungah / 21 / Sun / Active , High-spirited , Blunt / Aside from Moon, Yoshi is closest to Sungah in Sun. They became friends during their trainee days because they trained together and she was the first one for Yoshi to really befriend at Hyun. Because she studied Japanese, she is the easiest for him to talk to-- literally. It is definitely very helpful having her around to translate or explain things for him. On top of that, she is a very kind person and he finds it easy just to lay back and hang out with her. When necessary, she helps Moon when he tutors Yoshi, but usually that ends up with her laughing and poking fun at Moon and his teaching style.

— Mom • Hamada Aika / 58 / Teacher / Strong-willed , Passionate , Creative / He is very close to his mom. She was always very supportive of him going into music and when he was younger, she would ensure he had experiences and exposure to the arts. At times they heads because they are both very stubborn.

— Father • Hamada Hideaki / 62 / Civil Service Worker / Timid , Kind , Intelligent / Yoshi and his father get along well because they are both more relaxed and quiet. His father helped to foster Yoshi's love for history and would take him around Japan to different historical landmarks and museums throughout his childhood. He is a very intelligent man and places a lot of emphasis on helping the community. He didn't really want Yoshi to go to Korea and become an idol, but he still supports him because Yoshi is his son.

trainee years 4 (Hyun Ent. - April 2012 to present)) ; six months (JYP Ent. - October 2011 - March 2012)
trainee life
At JYP, Yoshi's trainee life consisted mostly of dance classes and one Korean class. Since his primary job would be to be a backup dancer, they didn't feel the need to have him meet with a vocal trainer because he wouldn't be singing. Instead, they cared more that his dancing was up to par. When he came to Hyun, he was worried that his appearance and age would deter him from debuting, just as it had at JYP, even after he was accepted as a trainee. He also felt apprehensive around the other trainees and the trainers because language was obviously a barrier. After a few months at Hyun, he started to think that maybe coming to Korea was a mistake. He was homesick and he felt isolated in such a foreign country. He had always written his own songs, but he composed more during the first year, he wrote more music than he ever had back in Japan. It was his catharsis, his way of getting his feelings out and coping. Not every song was good by any means; sometimes it was just words that had been swimming in his head thrown onto the paper, but it helped regardless.

It was when he thought he was going to give up that he met Sungah. She had always been there, of course, but it wasn't until Yoshi made the move to talk to her that they actually started to build a friendship. When he talked to his mom about feeling homesick and thinking of coming home, she told him that before he made that decision, he needed to try to make friends, to try and build bonds and make roots. He had heard Sungah singing in Japanese one day during independent practice and it motivated him during their lunch time to go and talk to her. Thankfully for him, she was fluent in Japanese and they hit it off. She helped him with his Korean and often during their trainee days they would dance and sing together.

pre-debut Prior to entering Hyun Entertainment and becoming a member of Sun, Yoshi had auditioned for JYP Entertainment at one of their open auditions. The judges were impressed with his singing, but because his Korean was even worse then, they weren't sure whether to he was worth bringing into the JYP Family. It was his dancing that got them to change their mind; he was a phenomenal dancer and that was very important to them (and the company's image as a whole at that time). He signed a contract with JYP, but was essentially told that he'd never debut as an idol-- that instead he would be a backup dancer for their existing male group, 2PM. Yoshi thought he could be content in that-- at least he would be on stage-- but after six months, he gathered up the courage to leave JYP and auditioned for Hyun Entertainment in hopes of actually getting to debut as an artist.
SCANDALS

— Tattoos: He has multiple tattoos on his arms [ see here for some of them: 1 2 3 (what 3 says, since it's hard to read) ]. His tattoos are a mix between cool pieces of art and meaningful sayings and while nothing on him is really "inappropriate," there is always an article that surfaces every now and then from a "concerned netizen" wondering if he is really K-Idol material.
— Stage name: Many Cassiopeia do not like the fact that his stage name is "Hero" even though it is a play on his own name. They think that he is trying to be like Jaejoong (who also was known as Hero Jaejoong. It has led to quite a few angry/bashing posts by Korean Netizens.

love interest Ok Taecyeon (2PM)
back up love interest N/A (to not have one/wherever the story goes)

personality

— Taecyeon has a dual-personality. When he is on stage, he has a powerful appearance and seems to exude nothing but masculine energy and appeal. There is a reason for 2PM to be called the beast idols, after all. But, off-stage, his second personality becomes apparent. He is a natural leader and on TV shows and interviews, he often tries to take the lead or be the MC, and while this can be annoying to his friends at times, it comes so naturally to him that he doesn't necessarily even notice it all the time. While he knows when it is time to be serious, Taecyeon is a fun-loving person and he often acts silly and dorky, especially when the camera is focused on him. He is a very childish person and likes a lot of "childish" things like collecting Gundam figures and models and putting them together.

Examples of his personality: 1 (sorry the BGM is so loud D:) 2 3 4 5

love story

— The two met during the short time that Yoshi was a trainee/backup dancer at JYP. He was asked to be one of the dancers for 2PM as they practiced for upcoming shows in Korea and Japan. Yoshi became a trainee after 2PM had made their Japanese debut and he had already had a sense of who the members were after having gotten into KPOP. He would show up for the rehersals and then leave right after, not mingling with the members like the other background dancers did. One day, as he gathered his things to leave for the day, Taecyeon asked him where he was going and invited him out to eat with the rest of them; despite Yoshi's initial protests, Taecyeon wouldn't really take no for an answer and in the end he went with them. During that dinner, Yoshi faded into the back as he normal when everyone around him spoke Korean. Taecyeon, being the person he is, noticed Yoshi's discomfort and started to speak to him in Japanese. They became close after that night and would hang out often after that.

When Yoshi told Taec that he was leaving, Taec was understandably saddened. He liked the fact that his friend was at JYP because it meant they could hang out often, but he understood why Yoshi would want to leave and he himself felt like if Yoshi wasn't happy, then he should go try to find what did make him happy. Taec was Yoshi's first official friend in Korea and dare he say that the male is one of his best friends.

When the two are together, Taec tends to bring Yoshi out of his shell. Being around the male is rather easy, in part because his is a friendly person, but more so because the older male tends to pull it out of him; Taec will purposefully act like a dork or do silly things to pull Yoshiro out of his shell and get him to laugh and joke around. Their relationship is also kind of a symbiotic one because Yoshi is fine if he lays low, where as Taec likes to be the center of attention and have the focus on him. So when they go out, even if Yoshi is joking around and not being introverted with Taec, if they have to interact with other people (e.g. ordering food, getting tickets to a movie, etc.), Taec naturally takes the lead and takes control of the situation, whereas Yoshi can just nod like "yup, what he said," and be content and comfortable.

When Yoshi is with Taec, his own childish nature that isn't seen very often seems to come out. Often times, you can see them poking at each other or see Yoshi trying to climb him like a tree (in a totally not ual way, cough). When they hang out, they like to work out, go to the arcade, go out to eat, or go to karaoke. They've been the amusement park a couple of times and each time Yoshi vows to never go back because the giant will typically crack jokes about his height and how they won't be able to go on any of the adult rides every time they go (and yet he keeps going whenever the male asks, smh).

ending

— You can decide how they end; it'd be cool if they ended up dating, but you could also go with Yoshi getting his heart broken. Ya know, whichever one you could choose and still sleep with yourself at night (totally joking, of course! xD)

status A one-sided crush on Yoshi's behalf (once Yoshi caught feelings for Taecyeon, he kind of low-key acts like Gukjoo, but in a less cringy way and Taec is not uncomfortable or cold about it with Yoshi; just oblivious xD)

last comment Hello! I hope that you like Yoshi. I know he's a bit different from typical idols, but I think that's kind of part of his charm. Thank you for taking the time to read about him and good luck on your story!
