LEE MINJI(이민지)
BIRTHNAME
Lee Minji (이민지)

NICKNAMES
♦ Min-Min - do not call her this. DO NOT CALL HER THIS. Gwaine calls her this. It makes her want to rip his throat out. It's just a cutesy little play on her real name, but she feels its condescending and immature.

♦ Eoluem gongju (
얼음공주) - meaning "ice princess", a nickname given to her by her fellow candidates due to her cold and distant nature

Elaine - her preferred codename, a reference to Tennyson poem about the Lady of Shalott.

BIRTHDAY
February 13 (21)

BIRTHPLACE
Busan, South Korea

HOMETOWN
♦ Busan, South Korea (birth to 10 years old)

♦Seoul, South Korea (10 - 21 years old)

ETHNICITY & NATIONALITY
Korean

LANGUAGES
♦Korean, native language, extremely well-read and literate

♦
Mandarin, studied in school for about 5 years, fairly fluent in conversation, struggles a bit in reading and writing

♦ English, studied in spare time for about a year and a half, has a basic grasp on conversation and can read basic words
APPEARANCE
Minji stands at 162 cm (5'4") and weighs 50 kg (around 110 lbs, BMI 19.1). She is lean, but possesses a fair amount of muscle, given her training. She is not particularly large or particularly small, just rather average. Like her faceclaim, she has long black hair and brown eyes.

STYLE
She dresses fairly conservatively. Outside of her Kingsman suit (which could either be just a normal bespoke suit or have a feminine twist like a pencil skirt, though I imagine that might be hard to maneuver in, so really anything is fine), she usually dresses in nice skirts with tights and a sweater or cardigan.

♦ has an elegant, upper-class air to her (hence the "princess" part of her nickname)
♦ appears to be quite cold and distant, very unimpressed, hard to please
♦ very goal-oriented, can be quite intense
♦ very lonely, but doesn't ever want to show it

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Intense, pragmatic, and always straightfaced, Lee Minji is a terrifying woman to cross. She knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. She carries herself like a queen, always holding herself and others to extremely high standards. She's very task-oriented, and very good at her job, though not so much at truly connecting with people. She's a very good actress, and skilled at obtaining her mission objectives, but in her everyday life when she's just being herself she doesn't really see it as worth the effort to be friendly and connect with people. To her, connecting with other people isn't worth the risk of showing her vulnerabilities. Minji is also terrifying when crossed - she's perfectly capable of taking people down, not just physically, but verbally as well.

BACKGROUND
Minji grew up as the only daughter of a rich, upper-class corporate family. Her uncle is the CEO of the Lee Corporation, which is a conglomerate of retail, automative, and technological industries. Therefore, she grew up wanting for nothing, was raised to be a well-bred, well-mannered young lady. She attended private schools, got special tutoring, learned the way multi-million dollar corporations operated, and received extravagant gifts for her birthday and Christmas.

However, the downside to having such a rich and opulent life was that her parents were incredibly distant. She saw them perhaps once or twice a week, when they weren't away at meetings or social events. As a result, most of her childhood was spent in the presence of a tutor or a nanny, whom she learned to keep a cool, reserved distance from.

When Minji was twelve years old, her parents had another child. Her little brother, Minjun (민준), became the most important person in her world. Her parents paid a little more attention to this child, but Minji still felt incredibly protective and responsible for him. They grew up extremely close, with Minji depending on him as her closest and most innocent confidant throughout her teenage years, and she was the most constant source of affection for him growing up. At the current moment, Minjun (Junnie, as Minji refers to him affectionately) is nine years old and the person Minji loves best in the world, one of the few people that she drops the "ice princess" facade for.
MENTOR
Kwon Woosang (Gwaine)

POTENTIAL
From a very young age, Minji was attending social functions as a member of the prestigious Lee family. Expected to foster relationships with other higher-ups of the business world, she soon learned the art of putting on a smile and acting cordial when the situation demanded it. She became extremely popular in the rich social circles, despite never becoming close to anyone in particular and never really giving anything about herself away. Rather, she collected quite a bit about the inner workings of other corporations, their secrets and motivations, and used that information to further her own family's ends. Not quite like espionage, but as close as a rich upper-class girl could get without being illegal.

At one point, she crossed paths with a certain Kwon Woosang, who was on assignment at a certain social function Minji was attending. He saw through her pretend cordiality immediately, and called her out on it, much to her annoyance. This drew out the cold and haughty side of her, which was intriguing to Gwaine as he witnessed her rather skillfully weaving in and out of her "cold" persona (which she considered at the time to be her true self) and her social persona, also noticing that while she seemed to see and hear everything, she never gave anything away about herself.

As a result, Gwaine saw great potential in her as a Kingsman, and approached her a couple of weeks later. Minji had been studying to assume a position in her family's company at the time, but was intrigued by this idea that she could accomplish something on her own merits rather than just her name, so after giving the offer some thought, she decided to dedicate herself to becoming a Kingsman.

TRIVIA

♦ was interested in and studied a  bit of English because she has a secret weakness for cheesy American romance movies (she always cries at the end of The Notebook, and will quite possibly commit murder in order to keep that fact a secret)

♦ cannot hold her alcohol at all, which has the potential to be a problem. She becomes very giggly and giddy when drunk, much to the shock of those around her

♦ she loved to read as a child, and as a result is able to reference quite a number of literature, which plays a bit of a part in her process as a potential Kingsman (hence her nickname/codename of Elaine, after Elaine of Shalott in the famous Tennyson poem)
internal relations
RELATION
Kwon Woosang (Gwaine), 27 years old, mentor // Minji didn't trust Gwaine, pure and simple. When he first approached her, offering her an opportunity to become a Kingsman, she was interested, entranced by the idea of serving her country, but also wary. He saw her walls, and she saw him as someone trying to get inside, because really, that's his job. She's always been incredibly aware of what a powerful presence he is, and how dangerous he really is, and therefore it takes her an extremely long time for her to really trust him. Interestingly enough, they both are extremely good at what they do, even though they're almost complete opposites in temperment. Minji can't stand his seemingly casual, charming attitude, and he in turn thinks she needs to let down her hair every once in a while, metaphorically speaking. Their banter is definitely something to witness. Despite this, in the end Minji ends up respecting her mentor and learns quite a bit from him, eventually fostering a strong loyalty for him (and perhaps even a small futile crush, but it takes a long time and a lot of development on her part).

RELATION
Kihyung (Kay), 27 years old // Though not her mentor, Minji posseses a healthy amount respect (perhaps even fear, though she would never show it) of her senior Kingsman. She's aware of his role within the agency, considering how closely he works with Gwaine, and takes note of his abilities, in the case that she could learn how to improve her own through observation of his. They have few interactions, and the few times they do meet they have little to say to each other, though it could be noted that both have a deeper, perhaps more vulnerable side of themselves locked away. Despite this, though, Minji isn't quite able to recognize the same walls in Kay as she herself possesses.

RELATION
Yook Samjin (Merlin), 30 years old // Minji has even fewer interactions with him, though the few times they meet she is polite and respectable with him, her usual distant self. There's something about him that unnerves her. Perhaps it's his "fatherly" sort of aura, but there's something too comfortable and down-to-earth about him for her taste. She almost prefers Gwaine's obviously heavily motivated and manufactured charm to Merlin's seemingly genuine concern and kindness. She tends to avoid the hacker quite a bit as a result.

RELATION
Lee Minjun, 9 years old, sweet, impulsive, stubborn, observant // Junnie is the person Minji loves most in the world, the person she's utterly devoted to and will do anything for, the only person she'll allow herself to let down her guard with and relax, be kind and connected. The entire world can go to hell, as long as her little brother is safe and sound. Minjun in return adores his noona, looks up to her as though she puts the sun in the sky. He is an intelligent boy, unaware of his older sister's role in the secret service, but has a strong suspicion that she is a little out of the ordinary. Like any little kid, he's curious, stubborn, maybe a little obnoxious too, but most of all he wants his sister to always come home and be with him.
MAGIC
7 - has basic computer skills from school and experience with the inner workings of her family's company, is a fast learner, but isn't terribly gifted at it.

COURAGE
13 - despite her reputation as an "ice princess", when Minji acts, she can act. She knwos exactly how to get under a target's skin, figure out their strengths and vulnerabilities just as much as she wants to keep her own hidden. When she wants to, she is extremely skilled at putting on a smile and getting people to trust her, even if it is all fake (for example, take the difference between the gifs of Irene looking indifferent and aloof and the gifs of Irene putting on a happy idol face, and that's pretty much how Minji is when she's being herself versus putting on a show).

STRENGTH
10 - she can hold her own in a fight, knows basic self defense, but isn't terribly overpowering. She's more likely to use her intelligence to her advantage rather than brute force - more of a Black Widow style than Peggy Carter.

CRIMINAL RECORDS
none

TRAINING OUTSIDE
Prep school, learned how trade and business work from her upbringing

SPECIAL STRENGTHS
Acting, very calm under fire, good at logic puzzles
COMMENTS/QUESTIONS this was incredibly fun, and I look forward to see how the story will turn out in the future!

SCENE REQUESTS
♦ Minji getting annoyed with another recruit and just basically outright destroying them with her cold and harsh words
♦ Scene showing the relationship between her and her brother
♦ Gwaine trying to get under her skin, her trying to shut him out and getting flustered, basically both of them trying to get information out of the other without giving any away themselves

THE KEY
hold on, it's in my pocket
