languages /
► Cantonese | fluent | growing up in Guangzhou, Cantonese was her first language, spoken in her home with her parents. She speaks with a Guangfu dialect.
►   Mandarin | fluent | learned in school, and in Guangzhou, considering the city is made up about 50% of Mandarin speakers. Li Xin is comfortable in that language, but prefers Cantonese.
►   Korean | 95% fluent, still forgets words and grammar sometimes | having spent the last five years in Korea, she knows the language fairly well, but not like a native speaker. She still speaks very carefully, and is unable to shake her accent. Towards the beginning of EVEM's debut she slips between informal and formal speech if she's not careful, and replaces words she doesn't know with the Cantonese equivalent, but gets better with it as time goes on. She also prefers Chinese honorifics to Korean ones - "gēgē" instead of "oppa" and "jiĕjiĕ" instead of "eonnie".
►   Japanese | survival | she only knows a few words here and there, based on what she knows from animes. IF EVEM ever has a concert there, she plans on studying hard to address the fans, possibly using notecards to read off of it it comes to it.
►    English | terrible | English is her absolute weakest language. Her accent is very strong, to the point where it'd be very easy for racists unfamiliar with Kpop to make fun of her "Engrish". She only knows a few words from American pop songs, and really can't string a sentence together to save her life, but that doesn't stop her from trying. She will gladly yell about "swag!" without really knowing what it means.

APPEARANCE /
► Li Xin is considered short compared to most idols. Her tiny stature contributes to her reputation of being more like a maknae than the actual maknae. She's sort of scrawny, with a tiny (22.5 inch) waist and short, thin limbs. She's more angular than curvy, and is encouraged by the company to wear padding to give the semblence of curves. Her face is similarly angular, with expressive grey eyes and a strong jawline and cheekbones that stylists love to play up. Stangely, she has the face of a mature woman with the body of a young girl - kind of the opposite of the "bagel" type. She's said to look a lot like her mother. Her hair is naturally black and stick-straight, but for debut it was dyed more of a light brown to better compliment her eyes. Li Xin has expressed interest in perhaps someday cutting it short, or dying it completely blonde. She does have a small birthmark on the back of her neck, usually covered by her hair, that strangely kind of resembles a picture of Australia. Only her ears are pierced, and she has no tattoos due her family's conservative values.
STYLE
► When it comes down to it, Li Xin will happily wear whatever the stylists give her without complaint. However, when it comes to her own personal style, Li Xin is rather feminine and cutesy. Because she's so small, Li Xin has a hard time finding clothes that fit her. She usually shops in the petites section of stores, and. prefers skirts and leggings and tights to jeans, soft pastel colors to bold colors, but she does know how to dress appropriately for an occasion. She also doesn't care much for tight clothing, preferring loose fitting t-shirts and cardigans that seem to hang off her frame. She also has a weakness for simple necklaces and hats, like beanies or snapbacks. Most of the time she wears her loose or tied up in a bun, sometimes going for a relaxed ponytail. Her hair does not curl well at all.

Personality traits / )
Positive / bright, hard-working, sweet, polite, imaginative
Neutral / dreamy, soft, ambitious
Negative / naive, self-critical, cowardly, nonconfrontational, a little unstable
Personality /

True to her name, Li Xin has a certain kind of grace to her, a sweetness that draws people to her. She values kindness and hard work above mostly everything else, and therefore in her life tries to be hardworking and kind. Therefore, she's never one to pick a fight and tries very hard not to step on anyone's toes, to the point where sometimes it seems like she'll agree with anyone just to get along. She remains cheerful and smiling in the hope that it will compel others to smile too, in the hopes that she might brighten someone else's day.

At the same time, however, there's a downside to that constant optimism and naivety in that sometimes she can come off as too agreeable, too nonconfrontational, and it frustrates people because often it seems like she won't stand up for herself if it means upsetting other people. In that way, she cares more about other people's happiness than her own, thinking that if other people are happy then she'll be happy too.

As it stands, Li Xin is actually internally very shy and self-critical. She's constantly searching for flaws in herself and ways to improve, to make herself better. As much as she acts like it doesn't bug her, she's very self-consious of her accent when speaking Korean, and even when she speaks Mandarin. Perhaps one of the areas where she criticizes herself the most is in singing, as she won't stop until she gets every note perfect. Li Xin doesn't want to be considered "mean" or "overlly critical" to anyone - except to herself.

With her family, Li Xin is a bubbly, dreamy, yet dutiful daughter. She tries to remain aware of her responsibilities, even if sometimes she seems like the absentminded dreamer of the family. Still, her family loves her, even if her father sometimes worries about her naivety and willingness to believe people are truly good at heart. She gets along well with her parents, and is always respectful to her grandparents. She tries her best not to be a problem or troublesome to them, and cares very much about her filial duty.

With her friends, Li Xin  tries very hard to be close to people, because she wants them to like her. She knows many people but is only really close with a few of them, mostly because in her attempts to be cheerful and have people like her, she doesn't really allow for any vulnerability that leads to true connection. Most of her friends know her as "happy happy Li Xin, always bright and singing and smiling". She's pretty and elegant to them, neat and clean. Shining. To those who know her a little better, who have seen her in her more vulnerable moments, they agree that Li Xin is happy a lot of the time, but also she can be very anxious and nervous. They know more of her flaws, like how she wont' stand up for herself and will often agree with things she internally disagrees with so as not to make waves. Yet, at the same time, she wants to always be the friend who's there with a shoulder to cry on, to help others and be their friends. She's intensely loyal, even if she's not very brave.

To be honest, Li Xin entering SM allowed her to avoid several issue she could have resolved if she had confronted them in a healthy way, such as her anxiety, perfectionism, and self-criticism. Instead of resolving them internally, Li Xin simply pushed them to the back of her mind and constructed a persona around avoiding them - acting cute and bright and happy to ignore the parts of her that she didn't like.

At school, Li Xin did her best, but she always got average scores. She's not really that much of an academic, she hated studying but always studied with other people and tried to help them. Her highest scores were in music practicum and music theory, which is why she went to a performing arts high school. Music is one of the most important things in Li Xin's life, and she holds herself to an almost impossible standard when it comes to it.

Background /
Li Xin was born in Guangzhou, China, to Meng Yi Xian (an artist), and Sun Jia Yi (one of China's most famous female neurosurgeons). Six months after she was born, the family moved to Beijing so Jia Yi could accept a position as an attending surgeon at Beijing New Century International Hospital for Children. They only stayed there for two years, however, as Jia Yi developed lung cancer due to the air pollution in the city, and died when Li Xin was three. Her father moved them back to Guangzhou right after the funeral.

In the first few years of her life, Li Xin was much closer to her father than her mother, due to the fact that her mother often worked long days and nights at the hospital, providing for her family. Yi Xian was not a famous or talented artist, but he shared his passion for painting and art with his daughter. Despite the fact that her career was not really conduicive to a family life, Jia Yi tried her best to be there for her husband and daughter, and overall Li Xin had a close and loving family life growing up. Her parents loved each other very much, and spoiled their daughter very much, but they also intilled in her a sense of kindness and gentleness. They spoke mainly Cantonese at home, rarely scolded her, and never hit her, and taught her right from wrong. While Li Xin does not remember much of her mother outside of photographs, she still harbors a deep love for her, and asks her father about her often.

After Jia Yi's death, Yi Xian moved back to his parents' house in Guangdong, as his wife had been the main breadwinner of the household and he was having trouble supporting himself and a toddler on funds from his paintings alone. A little more somber after the loss of his precious wife, he took rejoined his father at the family restaurant as a cook, sometimes painting on the side. Although they weren't as well off as they were in Beijing, Li Xin was still as happy, despite Yi Xian being extremely overprotective (he rarely let her go outside anymore, and if she did she had to wear a facemask and cover up her arms and legs against the pollution).

Li Xin, from a very young age, showed a great appreciation of the arts, taking after her father rather than her mother. Instead of painting, however, she discovered that what she really loved was singing. Having been born during the Disney Renaissance, even though China only allowed ten foreign films to be released officially each year, her grandfather had cunning piracy contacts, she grew up with Disney movies like The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and, when she was five, Mulan. (At five years old, after listening to Jackie Chan sing "Make a Man Out of You" in Cantonese, she told her grandparents and father with utter seriousness that she knew who she was going to marry.)

Therefore, throughout elementary and middle school, Li Xin developed her voice with a passion. Her father supported her in her endeavours, but encouraged her to try her very  hardest at whatever it was she chose to do. "If you're going to do something," he always told her. "If you're going to be something, be the absolute best you can be at it."

Li Xin therefore pursued singing and acting throughout middle and high school, singing in the school choir and winning parts in school plays and community theatre productions. she gained a little bit of a reputation in her small neighborhood - she was the girl who was going places. She had an eye on the horizon, she knew that what she wanted more than anything was to stand on stage and sing and be loved.

However much she excelled at performing, however, Li Xin had a lot of trouble connecting with her classmates. Her passive personality made her a little shy upon entering middle school, unsure of how to joke around and really bond with friends the way she saw others do. Skinny and pale from years spent mostly indoors, Li Xin tended to blend into the background, in the back of the classroom. Unless she was singing, people tended to forget she was there. That didn't mean she didn't try, however. Her thought process was "if I'm nice to people, then they'll like me and want to be around me," and therefore she strove to be nice to everyone, never taking sides in a fight, never confronting anyone, but at the same time never really becoming close to anyone either.

From the age of 13 to 15, Li Xin became struck with a gut-wrenching pang of loneliness. She had "friends," she thought, but not a best friend. She had people she knew and could call by name, but she didn't know them, couldn't joke with them or go get bbq with them or sing karaoke with (although, that was probably because mostly everyone knew they would lose against her in karaoke). She was correct in thinking that if she was nice to people, they would reciprocate. No one wanted to be the person to kick little Li Xin, it would be like kicking a helpless puppy. No one was ever consiously cruel or malicious towards her, she was never bullied. They were just...careless, was all. They forgot about her, most of the time.

Li Xin, she felt so small. It hurt a lot. She wondered if it was her fault, like maybe she didn't try hard enough. Maybe it was because she was a bad person. After all, good things happen to good people, right? If she felt like this, this terrible, maybe she was just a terrible person.

Li Xin wanted to stop feeling so small, so she decided she would make herself so big, so bright, that no one would be able to forget her. Shortly after she turned 15, in the beginning of 2011, she auditioned for SM Entertainment during the Global Auditions in Guangzhou, and was immediately cast as a trainee. She received a blessing from her father and grandparents, and moved to Korea to train for the next six years until her debut, leaving behind everything that hurt her - or so she thought.

RELATIONSHIPS
► Meng Yi Xian ○ Father - bàbā | 53 | painter, cook | overprotective, artistic | 8
Li Xin was always close to her father growing up, but after her mother's death he become even more overprotective of her. When she told him she wanted to move to Korea to become an idol, at first he was against the idea. In the past few years though, he's learned to relax a little bit, although he does call Li Xin every week to make sure she's healthy, eating well, ect. He's incredibly proud of her, and tells everyone who comes to the restaurant in Guangzhou that his daughter is going to be an idol.
màmà and yèyé ○ Paternal grandparents | 81 and 84 | restaurant owners | hardworking, wise, witty | 7
Li Xin's grandfather was the one who convinced her father to let her go to Korea. They dote on and spoil Li Xin, and are just as proud of her as her father. As a matter of fact, her grandfather is already creating Li Xin fan shirts and banners to sell in the restaurant when she finally debuts - he's had them for about three years now.
► Lu Han + Wu Yifan + Zhang Yixing + Huang Zitao ○ seonbaes | 24 - 27 | EXO China-line | sweet, close, dedicated | varies

When Li Xin entered the company, SM was putting together their latest boy group - EXO. Therefore, LI Xin only trained for a little while with the EXO members, but, being one of the few Chinese trainees in SM, she immediately stood out and was closer to the other Chinese trainees than most of the Korean trainees.
Luhan - as a fellow Chinese vocal talent, Lu Han and Li Xin shared a vocal teacher and a language teacher, so they knew of each other. However, due to their difference in age and training experience (Li Xin was only 16 whereas Lu Han was 21) they were not very close. They did, however, sometimes remininisce about Beijing, and reveled in the chance to speak Chinese to one another when their instructors weren't looking.
Kris - Li Xin and Yifan were both born in Guangzhou, but his grasp of Cantonese was basic due to his time in the States. However, he had a greater grasp of Korean and Mandarin, so as trainees they would often converse in a mixture of Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean. Again, due to an age difference, they did not become very close, but Li Xin did like that whenever she hung out with Yifan people tended to stare, just because Yifan was the type of person to get attention wherever he went. Also, she appreciated that she wasn't the only one in SM with a Guangfu dialect.
Lay - Initially, Yixing was very quiet, and didn't interact with Li Xin much. When they did interact, Li Xin mainly noticed his Xiang dialect, which was a little distracting. Throughout the years, however, once EXO debuted and both Li Xin and Yixing improved in their Korean, they became closer. Yixing remembers Li Xin from the short shared period during their trainee days, as she was always kind to him even though they did not talk much. As the only remaining Chinese member of EXO, he seeks her out when he's back in Korea after trips to China, oftening bringing her back souvenirs and encouraging her in her training. On occasion he might help her with her dancing, but the opportunity arises less and less as EXO becomes more popular.
Tao - Li Xin was closest to Zitao because they were the closest in age, entered the company only a year apart, and because Zitao is fluent in Cantonese. They also have similar "bright" personalities, wanting to be big and noticed. Zitao was really her first friend in SM, and during their short shared training period they would often go get coffee and gossip. Zitao is the type who is able to charm people without even trying with his earnestness and perseverance, and Li Xin really admired that in him. Similarly, Zitao liked Li Xin's softness and gentleness, very well matched to his own, and took to her like a older brother, even when he debuted in EXO. They remained close up until his departure from SM, which saddened Li Xin very much. However, they still communicate through KakaoTalk.
► Song Seungwan (Wendy) ○ fellow trainee and idol | 23 | Red Velvet main vocalist | optimistic, light-hearted, kind | 7
Seungwan entered SM a year after Li Xin, and although technically the younger girl was her "seonbae', Seungwan honestly outshone her, due to the fact that her voice was a little more developed and her Korean was much better. Their similarity in age (Seungwan is only two years older) and their vocal skills made them very near rivals to debut, and might have led to conflict had they not had such similar personalities too. Seungwan is very warm to Li Xin, always encouraging her as a part of SM Rookies and helping her with her Korean. Similarly, Li Xin was genuinely happy for Seungwan when she debuted in Red Velvet, and considers Seungwan her closest girl friend. Li Xin refers to her as "Wendy-jiĕ"
► Kim Taeyeon ○ seonbae and idol | 28 | SNSD's leader and main vocalist | introverted, analytical, genuine | 4
Li Xin has honestly always adored Taeyeon, being a fan of SNSD since middle school. She's one of her role mdoels, due not only to her stellar vocal ability, but to her personality. Her ability to keep SNSD together, her history of struggle and rising to become the top vocalist in Korea. She has only interacted with Taeyeon a few times, when the older woman would come by to observe SM Rookie's training and give advice. Li Xin, however, always offers to help Taeyeon with anything, whether it be water or makeup or anything. Taeyeon, in return, looks fondly on Li Xin, even if she doesn't know her very well. It's a little bit of an inside joke with the company that Li Xin has a puppy dog crush on her seonbae, and wishes to grow closer once she debuts.
► Kim Ejeong ○ fellow vocal trainee | 25 | SM Rookie | snarky, condescending, clever | 1
Ejeong has been training since she was 18, so around 7 years now. She resents Li Xin because she's competition as a fellow vocalist, and because she's Chinese - "Its hard enough to debut with all the people who want to be idols in Korea," is her line of thinking. "Why do they gotta bring Chinese into this too?" However, Ejeong is sneaky in her dislike of Li Xin. She's like poisoned honey, sickeningly sweet to Li Xin, calling her "Xin-ah" like they're friends and offering to help her with her vocal technique. Her "helpful hints" are usually backhanded insults, however, and is constantly trying to put Li Xin down behind her back. Li Xin knows that Ejeong doesn't like her, but doesn't know how to handle it because it's not direct unkindness. She thinks that if she's nice to Ejeong, maybe the older girl will come to like her, even though the people around Li Xin worry about her naievity. When Li Xin debuts in EVEM, however, and Ejeong doesn't, that is the last straw. Ejeong starts being start up nasty and condescending to Li Xin's face, knowing that it's not in Li Xin's nature to stand up for herself.

TRAINEE LIFE
► When Li Xin entered SM, the first priority was that she learned Korean. She was placed with a manager who spoke fluent Mandarin and Korean in order to help translate throughout her training and learn Korean quickly. It took her a few months before she was comfortable enough to really engage in conversation with anyone other than instructors and translators - hence, she had a bit of trouble making friends within those first few months.

Even so, she threw herself into training, afraid of falling behind due to the langauge barrier and doing her best to improve in all areas. Her voice was already somewhat trained, so she was focused on as a vocalist, although she did also make progress with her dancing.

Vocally, she is a light-lyric soprano with a rather small vocal range (C#3- C6). However, she has a very well trained middle voice due to her experience in theatre in high school - supported all the way up to an F#5, and almost never strains. Also, her emotion while singing has been highly praised, and compared to Taeyeon-seonbae. Li Xin draws on her acting background to convey the message through her singing, throwing her heart and soul into it. However, several of her weaknesses include a sometimes unstable vibrato and rather messy runs, as well as the fact that she sometimes underestimates how much air it will take her to sustain a note, leaving her a little out of breath at times. One of her goals is to better develop her head voice in the next few years, to continue improving her voice even once she debuts. She also learned a bit more about composition and music theory as a trainee, learning to play the piano and throwing around ideas for her own compositions

Dancing-wise, although she had a few years of ballet dancing in China, Li Xin initially struggled in part due to being so short. her movements lacked precision needed to really stand out. With some help from instructors, and later Yixing, she managed to get a hold of the basics needed to be an average trainee. However, she still worked day and night to improve, spending the hours she wasn't singing in one of the dance practice rooms, or watching other trainees perform. She eventually managed to combine her ballet experience with the dances she struggled with, developing an elegant, graceful sort of style. She still struggles a lot with hip hop dances, as they require precise, quick movements that she is not used to. Ultimately, though, she's worked hard to get where she is.

By throwing herself into her work, Li Xin was able to avoid lingering on the isolated feelings that made her want to leave Guangdong in the first place. At SM, however, once the language wasn't as much of a barrier, she found that she was able to connect well with other trainees over their mutual work ethic and love of performing. While she was still never as close to as many people as she wanted to be, she still found a few close friends like Tao and Seungwan, and did not make any real enemies other than Ejeong. The spirit of competition was always there, but Li Xin's cheerful and amicable attitude made people like her, even if they weren't inclined to be friends.

Li Xin wasn't placed in SM Rookies until around January 2014 - she definitely wasn't part of the lineup for Red Velvet, but was being considered for the second upcoming group, along with several other girls. When they did not end up debuting, she returned to training, knowing that it would probably be several years before SM allowed another group to debut. She channeled her disappointment into her training, so that next time instead of being a "consideration", she would have to be a "sure-in".

Li Xin did gain some public recognition as a member of SM Rookies, and several people noted her vocal ability and dedication to improve. After Red Velvet's debut, she also could be recognized sometimes out in public with Seungwan, and in other SM Rookies videos.

love interest / Kim Jongdae + Chen + EXO
backup love interest / Lee Hongbin + VIXX

personality /
► Jongdae debuted in 2012 as a part of EXO-M, the Mandarin subunit of EXO that eventually disbanded when three of their members left. Therefore, EXO is now one group comprised one nine members.

He is a hardworking, dedicated performer, and a genuinely good person overall. Known for his kind-hearted and gentle nature, Jongdae is often seen looking out for his fellow EXO members and his fans. He's generally easy-going and laid back, prone to joking around as part of the Beagle Line with members Baekhyun and Chanyeol. Jongdae definitely has a playful and mischievious side that might come across to some as slightly childish (especially due to his habit of playfully whining "whyyyyyyyy" ) - however, he has also displayed signs of maturity and responsibility in the past, again often taking care of his fellow members and knowing when to stop a joke in case it becomes problematic. In this way, Jongdae seems very likeable and gets along well with mostly everyone around him. He's very committed to being the best vocalist he can be, once stating that his dream is to be the best singer in the world, and often states that he feels like he has a lot to learn.

Jongdae also has a slightly flirty nature, one that likes to joke around (labelled as a "troll" by some fans). This is mainly the persona he undertakes as Chen, onstage, the person he presents to his fans - cheerful, sweet, playful. However, he can also sometimes be more subdued (more offstage than on), allowing him to also be respectful and caring.

He's also...subtly scary? In that he's really quite clever, and can read people so easily. It'd be very easy for him to manipulate them if he wanted to, using his words and pretty face as a weapon. There's a bit of a lingering lethality there - he has a certain kind of presence, but his affections run deep once you earn them, so he chooses to treat people with kindness instead. He's definitely a Slytherin, able to read and take down someone with ease, but because he genuinely cares for the people around him, he doesn't. Woe to anyone who seriously pisses him off, betrays him, or attacks the people he cares about, though.

While he's definitely a good and likeable person, he also seems like a hard person to get to know intimately, as he appears to be very private and maybe even slightly reserved when it comes to serious things or negative emotions. Such things he has certainly never shown to the public, and those around him may be unaware of his reservations, believing that that Jongdae he presents is the truest level of depth he possesses.
This interview also explains his personality very well.

love story /
► Li Xin entered SM only a few months after Jongdae did. However, he debuted almost immediately, thus making it hard for them to have interacted. She did get to know his groupmate, Tao, rather well as trainees, but Jongdae did not even know her name until EVEM debuted.

The first time Li Xin saw him was at one of SM's monthly evaluations - her second, to be exact. Trainees would perform in front of a group of evaluator (and any peers who wish to watch) and be ranked in order to judge if they were ready for debut or not. Having only done it once before, Li Xin was nervous as heck, and did rather poorly. She was given a low score, and was packing to leave the evaluation area with her translator.

Li Xin felt horrible - the past week had been awful and exhausting, her voice wasn't getting any better, and her Korean was still lacking. For the first time, she honestly was considering going back to China.

On her way out, she noticed a cluster of female trainees in the back of the auditorium where the evaluations were taking place, whispering furtively to themselves as a male trainee took the stage. Curious, Li Xin waited a few moments to listen, as the boy onstage introduced himself to the evaluators, and began to sing.

"I'm sure you've had someone that you loved leave you
You might have thought it was all my fault
That's why I couldn't hold onto you..."

Li Xin was entranced, not only because that was the song ("Love Rain") that she had auditioned with, but because the boy's voice was so beautiful and steady. His technique was incredible for someone who looked only 19 or 20. And the way he sang, with such power and emotion...

When the song ended, Li Xin didn't hear his evaluation. Instead, she looked over at her translator and asked, "Who is that?"

"I believe that's Kim Jongdae. He's a vocal talent, entered the company a little before you did. People are saying he's a sure-in to debut."

Li Xin knew, then, she wanted to be like him. She didn't want to give up just yet.

After he recieved his evaluation, she snuck around the the back of the stage to greet him as he was coming off. Jongdae was surprised to see a 16-year girl waiting for him, bowing respectfully as he passed.

Li Xin chose her words carefully, in the little Korean she knew. "Ah...hello, seonbae. You...Your voice is very good. I hope to be your fan someday."

He paused for a moment, in the midst of taking out his earpiece, to smile at her, understanding even with her accent. He said something back, but Li Xin did not understand.

So she panicked.

"Kim Jongdae fighting!" She squeaked, and ran off, leaving behind a much confused and amused Jongdae.

Years later, after EVEM debuts, Jongdae approaches Li Xin for the first time, and tells her, "Your voice is very good."

A little cooler this time, Li Xin responds, "Thank you, seonbae." She hopes that he doesn't even remember the little trainee girl with the stars in her eyes and not enough vocabulary to explain what his singing meant to her.

Then, he smiles, and tells her, "Your Korean's gotten better too."

ending / It takes a while for them to go from colleagues to friends, and then friends to secretly dating. However, once EVEM debuts, they bond over their love for singng and their similar personalities. They become close friends, supporting each other through their careers, and eventually develop romantic feelings for each other. Li Xin, however, is hesitant, due to the fact that EVEM is a rookie group, and she's a little afraid that she's not good enough for Jongdae. After around a year of dancing around each other, however, Jongdae eventually makes the first move and kisses her. They end up secretly dating for around half a year before SM allows them to go public. (Very slowburn).

relationship status / As of right now, they have a strictly seonbae-hoobae relationship. Li Xin recognizes that had it not been for Jongdae, she might have left SM and never got to debut. However, she believes that her feelings for him are completely platonic admiration. It isn't until she gets to know him personally that she falls in love with him.

TRIVIA
► Ship name: Chenxin
► Also once they go public, fans sometimes jokingly refer to them as "Rapunzel and Chen Ryder"
► Li Xin was actually an avid fan of EXO-M, mainly because they sang in Mandarin. Once she and Jongdae become closer, she jokes a lot with him about his Chinese pronunciation and accent, and his about her Korean.
► At the same time though, Li Xin is very impressed with how far Jongdae's come in his Mandarin, and he wants her to teach her a little more in Cantonese
► Both are the "recording studio workaholics" - known to stay at the SM building until after midnight to get their vocals just right. Sometimes, if they're there at the same time, they'll order food and give each other advice
► Li Xin downloads all of Jongdae's OSTs, while he watches all the episodes of her dramas
► Sometimes they'll go get BBQ or coffee together, or go to a noraebang because no one else wants to go with the main vocalists of SM groups
► Jongdae has had girlfriends in the past, whereas Li Xin has never had a relationship before
► Jongdae really likes Li Xin's cooking
► Once they start dating, Jongdae has a picture of Li Xin sleeping as the screensaver on his phone
► When Zitao hears that Jongdae and Li Xin are dating, he calls Li Xin to say "I called it!"
► When they went public, fans took the news surprisingly well, due to the fact that Jongdae is highly regarded among the netizens
► ( mention) the first time Li Xin sleeps with Jongdae, she initiates it by nervously asking if he wants to "eat ramyeon with her". Jongdae, however, trolls the heck out of the situation by actually making ramyeon once she shows up at his apartment.

final words /  Hi! Wow, that was fun, I haven't done one of these in forever! Hope you like Li Xin, and if there's anything you need/have questions about, let me know! Also, I chose Handong as a faceclaim because I felt like it would be easiest for her to fit the aesthetic/concept of EVEM, but if you would rather have her be the backup faceclaim that's fine too! Thank you!
scene requests /
► Li Xin going back to Guangdong to visit her family, and her mother's grave to tell her that she's debuting/has debuted
► Jongdae accompanying Li Xin on a trip to China
► Bonding with the EVEM members
► Jongdae, Seungwan, or another EVEM member getting sick of Ejeong's bullying and standing up for Li Xin since she won't stand up for herself
► Li Xin learning to deal with her anxiety and perfectionism, and realizing that she is capable of making connections and having friends
► EVEM getting their own variety show to show off their personalities and friendship (like Showtime)

password / Nevers - cause if EVEM stands for "Evermore," then "Nevers" would be a reference to "Nevermore", the line from the famous Edgar Allen Poe poem, which would fit in with the dark concept
