Face claim: park hye min (pony)
Back up face claim: rani
Height & Weight: 155 cm, 44 kg
Appearance:

lina is petite, shorter than average, and because of this she feels like she has to make up for her size in being extra loud. she does have a pierced belly button and two tattoos; a butterfly on her right hipbone, and a treble clef on the back of her neck that's usually covered up by her hair.
she has a sort of comfortable, street-ish style. a typical day would usually require some leggings or skinny jeans and a printed t-shirt. depending on the season, she might don a huge sweater or hooded sweatshirt or a flannel over a tank top with some jeans, and if its hotter she'll be more prone to tank tops and shorts with brightly colored belts. she prefers clothes in dark colors, with bright accessories. some of her favorites are belts and shoelaces, as well as hats. beanies and snapbacks are a must. favorite shoes are converse and boots. has a favorite leather jacket that is practically worn through at the elbows but she's never going to throw it away cause its warm and comfortable and familiar.
› when required to dress up will be good with just a black dress and some heels. no bracelets or necklaces or anything. just that and maybe some bright red lipstick. dressing up is kind of a pain.
› has the WORST airport fashion. will probably show up at airports in her pajamas, hair a mess, possibly barefoot. or terribly clashing prints. its almost embarrassing, but lina rolls with it.
›  practice clothes are usually the same as her casual clothes. might be looser, more like yoga or jogging pants, but still leggings and a t-shirt or tank top. really, though, she can get comfortable in practically anything. except maybe latex/rubber. if there are ever any stage costumes involving latex she will probably lose her , both laughing at the ridiculousness and complaining nonstop about how irritating it is to her skin.

seems like it was just yesterday, we grew up a lot.

Personality trait:
(+) }  energetic, hardworking, cheerful, friendly, loyal
( -) } snarky, naive, stubborn, childish, tactless
(n) } loud, ambitious, punny

Personality:

All of her life, Lina wanted to be something big and bright and beautiful. She has a natural sort of infectious energy that never seems to cease, and she tries to channel that into everything she loves to do. Lina is a girl with a dream, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to reach that dream. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to dance and sing, and her greatest strength lies in the fact that she is willing to push herself to the brink of exhaustion in order to get better. Her hardworking nature earned her the nickname Try-Hard Queen, due to her almost unhealthy obssession with training. As a result of her efforts, however, Lina is confident that she has every right to be where she is, and isn't afraid to tell anyone who questions otherwise that her being an idol isn't by mistake at all.
Her hardworking nature also plays into her naivety and stubbornness a bit - she's very much a subscriber to the idea that with enough hard work and perseverance, anyone can achieve their dreams. Hence why she pushes herself so hard, and isn't afraid to put someone in their place if they complain about how unfair life is. She's a huge believer in karma and the universe, to the point where its kind of a running joke, and she says so with a smile on her face, but she truly believes it. Like a child who believes in Disney, she honestly believes that with time the good guys will win and the bad guys won't, and with a wish and hard work dreams can come true, and what's meant to be will be.
Her childishness can sometimes get on some people's nerves, while others can find her refreshing. She likes to describe herself as "smiling and being stupid", but while she's certainly not the brainiest one of the bunch, her intelligence is fairly average. She's seemingly always got a smile for everyone, bubbly and bright and oh-so-happy. She's seemingly at home enough in her skin to be the first to introduce herself to strangers, her friendliness almost like that of a labrador retriever's. Strangers might sometimes be overwhelmed by her energy and noise, while friends might look upon it with fondness. Lina loves to smile and share her happiness with others, willing to almost do anything to get a laugh, whether its attempting silly stunts or just making the most groan-worthy puns in the history of the word. Her natural loudness, however, does tend to get a bit annoying and exhausting after a while, and sometimes it seems like she does lack a brain-to-mouth filter.
On the more serious side, being a huge believer in karma, Lina always pays her debts. If you do something nice for her, she will remember it. If you're close enough to her, she will do practically anything in the world for you, loyal to a fault. To those who truly know her, Lina might seem a little more toned down than seen at a first glance. Still smiling and cheerful, but maybe a little quieter and thoughful at times. If she's in a mood (which she only allows those very close to her to see), her humor might turn a bit darker, a bit more biting. Catch her on the wrong day, her breezy, light comments just might hit a little too close to home. It's not that she doesn't have insecurities (she has a lot actually) - she's just very, very good at hiding them. She's very aware that she could be so cruel, if she wanted to, and thinks a lot about the right words to say if she ever wanted to. Lina knows the importance of words very much. The question is, however, if the words she's saying are true.

Background:

Lina is the eldest girl in her family. Her father had always hoped for a son, but it didn't seem to be in the cards. It didn't matter, because Lina almost preferred to be treated like a boy growing up anyway, wrestling with the boys at school, playing sports. Singing was the one thing she kept to herself, although that changed as she got older. Her family was very close, ate dinner together every night, attended school functions together. She grew up watching over her little sister, Minah, and the two girls are still like peas in a pod. When Lina entered high school she began helping out in her father's store as a part-time (though unpaid) worker. The only downside to her family's closeness was that perfection became almost expected - everything had to run smoothly, good grades, happy smiles. If anything made anyone sad or angry, it seemed to be shoved under the rug to save face. Lina was expected to be a good student, get into a good university, and marry a good man.
Throughout her life, she always had a fierce passion for performing. Upon her entrance into middle school, she began auditioning for plays, joining her church choir and even landing small parts in her school musicals. She felt so at home in the theatre and hoped to someday be an actress, maybe in America on Broadway. The amount of time spent devoted to music may have wavered throughout the years just because of the fact she was a student who had to also devote part of her time to studying, but it was always fairly constant, always in the back of her mind. The piano was a comfort, the stage like coming home.
In 2007, at the age of 14, Lina took an impromptu trip to Seoul with a friend who wished to audition for SM Entertainment at the weekly auditions. Though the friend did not get in, Lina was intrigued by the process, and went back the next week to audition for herself. Though she of course didn't make it, she liked the experience enough to keep returning to Seoul to audition for several companies before finally being signed onto Exuare in 2008.

Trivia:

likes: musicals, playing the piano, cakes and cookies, harry potter, chao ga, rain, greek yogurt and green tea, pancakes, airports/train stations, plums and peaches, autumn, big sweaters, hot chocolate, cold weather, skinship, coffee
dislikes: brussel sports, waking up way too early, clutter, being snapped out of something when she's in the zone, medication
hobbies: singing, dancing, making short videos/vines, reading or watching movies, playing the piano, surprisingly cooking and baking
habits: has to sleep with the AC on and the windows open under a bunch of blankets (which seems counterproductive), never wears matching socks, bites her nails or taps them against surfaces when nervous, twists or pulls at her hair when frustrated, eats really slowly, closes her eyes when she really gets into a song's emotion and story, when really happy will sometimes skip to places instead of walking
fears: not living up to expectations/not working hard enough, spiders, clowns, losing her voice, ghosts
sings when anxious or nervous, or doing chores, kind of claming herself down
watches scary movies even though she's probably the biggest fraidy cat in the world and screams at all the jump scares
denies the fact that she's a huge chicken despite the above fact
swears that blue m&ms taste better than any other color and always eats those last
actually pretty religious, goes to church every sunday
longest to get ready in the morning
has a really bad poker face
looks younger with her hair up
favorite color is lavender
sometimes sleepwalks, mainly falling asleep in bed and waking up on a couch
loves animals and wanted a pet for the dorm so bad (hence the raccoon incident)
had some issues with disordered eating in the past (while in high school and under the company). as a result, she refuses to disclose her weight and/or "dieting secrets" on variety shows and is a huge supporter of the "everyone is beautiful" mantra
her ideal type is someone kind who can make her laugh a lot

we cried a lot and laughed a lot but it was so beautiful.

Family:

❝Father❞ Kim Jang-woo // 1966 // mini-mart owner // quiet, supportive, more action-oriented than word oriented
Lina and her father are very close, even if they don't speak about things like emotions very often. Rather, their closeness is in their actions, the hours she'd spend after school working with him or the times he'd listen to her sing while she did her chores. He calls her every week just to say hi and see how's she's doing and she'll say she's fine and doing well because she loves him.

❝Mother❞ Nguyen Thanh // 1969 // housewife and part-time nurse // practical, honest, reliable
Lina and her mother are not quite as close, but their relationship is more practical. Lina knows her mother will always tell her the truth and is a good person to come to in a crisis. She does connect well with her mother's Vietnamese heritage, and feels like that makes them a lot closer

 ❝Sister❞ Kim Min-Ah // 2002 // student // sassy, clever, slightly aloof
Lina's sister is perhaps a little too clever for her own good, and doesn't quite understand why her older sister wants to spend all her time prancing around in flashy outfits instead of doing something good for the world. But she doesn't judge, and is secretly proud (and maybe a little jealous) or Lina. Lina adores her younger sister, and tries to keep in touch often, even though Min-Ah is getting to be that age where she's too cool for everything.

Friend(s):

❝Best friend❞ Gwon Ji-Hye  (OC) // 1993  // barista // met in 2005 in middle school // bright, daydreamer, optimistic
Lina's best friend since middle school, the one she went with to audition at SM with. After high school, Ji-Hye moved to Seoul, and the two girls met each other by chance at the coffee shop where Ji-Hye works. The two have kept in contact ever since, being each other's closest friend and confidantes. It's only with Ji-Hye that Lina truly lets down her guard completely, ceasing the idol image for just a moment to be Lina from church choirs and school musicals again.

❝Little adopted sister❞ Jung Yunhee (OC) // 1996 // trainee at exuare // 2009 // timid, sweet, intelligent
Yunhee and Lina were trainees together for at almost two years, and grew close despite their differences in age and the fact that Lina is a vocal while Yunhee is a dancer. Though Yunhee has yet to debut, Lina has faith in her. Sometimes, however, Lina has trouble with her sentiment that Yunhee simply isn't working hard enough to debut.

❝Good friend❞ Lee Hongbin // 1994 // VIXX // 2013, at an awards function where Lina teasingly commented on his "good looks" and "smiley vocals"  // shy, sometimes awkward, kind
Their friendship grew over time through more encounters, and now they're very close friends, often seen hanging out when there's time in their schedules, leading to a bit of gossip from the press, but both know its strictly platonic. Besides, Lina knows Ji-Hye has the biggest fangirl crush on Hongbin, which she thinks is the funniest and cutest thing ever.

 ❝Princess❞ Moon Youngae // 1992 // AN.BEAT // 2009 // assertive, competitive, proud
Youngae and Lina met as trainees under Exuare, and although they didn't interact with each other much, Lina was aware that their personalities clashed a bit. Though Lina did her best at the time to act cheerful and friendly around the older girl, she was largely put off by the cold and snobbish vbe she got from her, as well as the slight nervousness she felt around someone who had trained longer than her and had more experience. Upon finding out that they were going to debut together, however, Lina was determined to try again, and often takes on an extremely cheerful, childish persona around her. Her nickname for the older girl is "Princess" based upon her position as visual and her proud nature. Lina is very aware that she may come off as annoying, but the idea only makes her more determined to get into Youngae's good graces, if only for the good of an.beat - not because she particularly cares for her fellow bandmate.

Other(s):

❝The one I didn't deserve❞ Park Yae-woon (OC) // 1992 // medical student // gentlemanly, open, fond of big gestures
Lina's only high school relationship and first kiss. Yae-woon was a year older than she was, and the kind of guy that girls go through high school looking for, an extremely good guy who treated Lina like every girl generally wants to be treated. However, they broke up in 2010 when she was 17 and he was 18, as he was going to university and she was just about to debut. Lina still thinks about him forever, and he remains a bit of a regret because a part of her knows the reason why she held on for so long (they dated for 2 1/2 years) wasn't because she loved him but because she wanted to love him, and held him at a distance because a part of her believed she didn't deserve the kind of kindness and love he seemed to give out with both hands. Therefore, Lina's aware that she wasn't fair to him or to herself, especially considering she knew it all along. They remain in touch, an occasional text every now and then, a catch-up coffee date. A part of her still wants to try to love him, but he becomes engaged to another girl in February of 2015.

i'm gonna have a dream, a higher level than being an idol.

Stage name: Lina (her name is short enough as is)
Position: Main vocalist (lead vocalist, lead dancer)
Persona: The Variety Loudmouth

Trainee background:

Lina joined Exuare in 2008 and trained for almost two years. Her first year of training, she was actually very reserved and quiet, feeling very out of her depth as she realized that her experience with school musicals and choir meant nothing against people who had been training much longer and harder than she had. So she threw herself into her work, staying up late at night dancing only to wake up before sunrise the next morning to practice vocal warmups. Her strongest point was definitely her voice, which she took a great amount of pride in. When it came to dancing, however, Lina realized she needed a ton of work. A ton. A TON. So she worked.
Eventually she also realized that she would need an idol persona, and immediately chose the one that felt the most natural - smiling, being happy. Being loud was a bit harder considering her size, but she's thrown as much of herself into her idol persona as she has into her singing. She also continued her passion for acting, even as a trainee.

Trainee years: Trained for a year and nine months (joined Exuare in July 2008)

Solo activities:

minor speaking role in a drama (2011, a small made for online stream called Just Like Magic, where she said around three words)
› lead role ina  low-budgest drama (2012, Somewhere Near You, playing a high school student in a romantic comedy that didn't get much press but got good reviews)
› Immortal Song 2 (2013, sang "Don't Start Now" originally by BoA, obviously didn't win, but was commended on her gutsy choice of song)
› supporting character in a movie (early 2014, a dramatic comedy called The Butterfly Effect, where she plays the main character's ambitious and slightly ty best friend - received several good reviews, also sang a song "Fools Like Us" for the OST)
lead role in a musical (2015, Spring Awakening, her first foray into high-end musical theatre, winning the role of Wendla. Needless to say, she's ecstatic)

Scandal(s) and news/blog article(s):

"disrespectful rooke" (2010) -  her bluntness and sometimes seemingly tactless way of speaking made some netizens see her as rude and impertinent, especially from a rookie group
› dating/sleeping around rumors (2014) - possibly due to her new role in The Butterfly Effect, a series of dating rumors persisted. She was once rumored to be dating VIXX's Hongbin, and another one involved her and a co-star from a previous drama, Somewhere Near You. Both were obviously false and soon regarded as such, just rumors created by bored netizens. Lina found them hilarious, if a little ridiculous.

Anything else?:

motto: "If the world tries to make you feel small, just make your smile even bigger."
› when she tries to do aegyo it can appear very forced and awkward, so she doesn't like to do it often (even though a fanvideo of her doing the "I dreamed a ghost" aegyo is floating around somewhere)
› on the other hand, she has great variety sense, able to keep a conversation flowing on variety shows, and often (whether through trying or not) pulling a lot of attention
› has really minimal rap talent, and her dancing is passable at the most, though it is definitely something she's working on. Her main talent is vocals - it's something she pours her heart and soul into. Her technique isn't the most polished, but she puts most of her effort into perfecting it, and she definitely has an important component down cold - emotion, generated from her acting background. Even if the note is off, she is 100% into the song, heart and soul - even if the song itself isn't all that deep
› the "raccoon incident" that gave her the nickname "neoguri girl" occurred sometime around a.n.beat's debut, when Lina decided that the dorm needed a pet and decided to adopt the raccoon living in the tree outside the dorm. It did not end well, but became a great story to tell on variety shows
she doesn't have a twitter, but did create an instagram eventually in 2013, adopting the name @neoguri_gurl. She's active quite often and tries to post captions in Korean and (albeit very poor) English for international fans
› a secret dream of her's (besides performing in a musical) is to someday sing for the Vietnamese market, to reconnect with the other part of her identity
› her singing twin is min from st.319
› has stated that had she not become a singer, she would have become a doctor, but her grades weren't that good so it's fortunate she could sing
› has mentioned that she would possibly like to do "We Got Married" or "Roommate:
› as stated before, Lina actually does have a lot of insecurities. One of them is her preoccupation with size - the idea that she is small, yet she has to have such a big personality. Her insecurities stem from that idea, that as an idol her role and her persona is loud and bright and beautiful, yet at the same time she has to be physically small and cute and thin to fit the standards of beauty that are set for her, either by society or herself. As a result, Lina suppresses a lot of her more uncomfortable emotions, like anger or sadness, in order to maintain that persona, even while in private. These feelings then make themselves known in her more unhealthy behaviors, such as her perfectionism or the need to constantly be training or improving (as well as her contempt for those she thinks isn't working hard enough). One other behavior has also been disordered eating, which has persisted on and off since she found out she was going to debut. In an effort to lose weight, Lina has restricted, excessively exercised, and purged, though these behaviors have tapered on and off (mostly becoming predominant around the time of debut or comebacks). She is also on medication for anxiety and depression, but keeps it a secret from most of her other members and the fans.

loveint
Kim Jongdae

Group: EXO-M
Back up love int: Park Jae-Hyung
Group: DAY6

we have good and bad feelings of love too.

Personality:

Jongdae is the lead vocalist of EXO-M, a hard-working, dedicated performer and a genuinely good person overall. Known for his kind-hearted and gentle nature, Jongdae is often seen to be looking out for his fellow EXO members and his fans. He's generally easy-going and laid back, prone to often joking around as part of the Beagle Line with members Baekhyun and Chanyeol, Jongdae definitely has a playful and mischevious side that might come across to some as slightly childish (especially due to his habit of playfully whining "whyyyy") - however, he also has displayed signs of maturity and responsibilty in the past, again often taking care of his fellow members and knowing when to stop a joke in case it becomes problematic. In this way, Jongdae seems very likeable and gets along well with mostly everyone around him. He's very committed to being the best vocalist he can be, once stating that his dream is to be the best singer in the world, and often states that he feels like he still has a lot to learn.
Jongdae also has a slightly flirty nature, one that likes to joke around (labelled as a "troll" by some fans). This is mainly the persona he undertakes as Chen, onstage, the person he presents to his fans - cheerful, sweet, playful. However, he can also sometimes be more subdued (more offstage than on), allowing him to also be respectful and caring. While he is a very good and likeable person, he also seems like a hard person to get to know intimately, as he also appears to be very private and maybe even slightly reserved when it comes to very serious things or negative emotions. Such things he has certainly never shown to the public, and those around him may also be unaware of his reservations, believing that the Jongdae he presents is the truest level of depth he possesses.

First meeting & first imperssion:

Lina's first impression of Jongdae was during the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards, when EXO performed their debut song "MAMA", as well as collaborating with SHINee for "Mirotic" and "Lucifer". Even though EXO hadn't exactly had the groundbreaking debut they may have hoped for, and "MAMA" was kind of a ridiculous song, Lina was actually really impressed with the group's individual talents - especially the first singer in "MAMA", who pulled off some rather spectacular high notes, though his diction could have definitely used some improvement in "Lucifer". Though, admittedly, it wasn't that Lina could have done any better. Overall, her first impression of Jongdae was that he definitely had some real potential, as did the rest of EXO. She also noted that he wasn't hard on the eyes, either, but then again, in this industry, it was hard to find someone who was.

Jongdae's first impression of her was also garnered from that 2012 MAMA Awards (though, obviously, both had been at least aware of each other previously, and he had heard a bit about an.beat while in training for SM and his own debut). Though an.beat's performance of "Eenie Meenie Minie Moe" was clearly different in terms of content from EXO's performance, he generally enjoyed the song for it's light, bubblegum pop sound. He didn't really think twice about it.

Their first real interaction occurred near the end of 2013, with both of them competing on "Immortal Song 2", with Lina singing "Don't Start Now" and Jongdae singing with fellow member Byun Baekhyun "Really, I Didn't Know". Though neither won, Lina was absolutely stunned by their performance, and couldn't help but let them know after they had finished filming.

"Really, I didn't know you could sing like that," she had joked carelessly. "Where has SM been hiding you all this time?"

Though she immediately regretted saying it so thoughtlessly like that (somehow her compliment had turned into a snarky comment on his role in EXO), Jongdae seemed to take in stride, smiling good-naturedly and gently shooting back, "Don't you know, it's this dungeon where they keep all of their trophies. Maybe you're not familiar with that concept."

There was a moment of silence, before Lina grinned sheepishly and lightly rapped him on the shoulder with her fist, unable to come up with response.

Having already overcome the awkward, formal politeness of a first meeting through Lina's lack of tact, the two formed a rather close bond. Lina made it clear very soon that she did in fact admire Jongdae's talent, and that in her opinion, EXO definitely had a bright future. Likewise, Jongdae paid a little more attention to the "bubblegum pop" group on the radio, and found that he also liked Lina's vocals, as well as admiring her determination and enthusiasm to succeed.

Relationship & interaction:

They text back and forth quite often, even with both of their busy schedules, developing a close (if slightly secret) friendship. Their circles tend to overlap at times, with the industry being the way it is, and both of their respective groups know of their friendship. Jongdae is also aware that Lina is good friends with VIXX's Hongbin, and considers them on about equal levels. In Lina's eyes, however, this is not quite accurate. To her, Jongdae has a completely different meaning.

Due to their similarities in nature and attitudes towards work in life, they get along pretty swimmingly. Lina has a tendency to be more blunt and immature than Jongdae, whereas he's more likely to be more reserved with his true feelings rather than cause waves. Still, the two are very good friends, and often hang out together between schedules, whether its simply playing music together, or joking about their relatively subpar English and dancing skills, or going to get something to eat. Lina’s favorite place is to walk down to the Han River and just talk, maybe go get something to eat later (a running joke between the two is that he always eats fast while she eats slowly, so he usually finishes early and patiently waits for her to finish until she tells him to stop staring and gives him half of her food). Oftentimes they will also work on their respective vocals together, with JOngdae often giving Lina tips of how to improve her technique, and Lina giving him tips on how to connect emotionally with the songs. Lina has opened up to Jongdae about her struggles as a part of an.beat, but she has yet to tell him about all the skeletons in her closet. Likewise, Lina often has the feeling that Jongdae doesn't tell her when he's feeling upset.  It may be just friendship, and sometimes she may watch him laugh and want to kiss him so badly it hurts, but it’s okay, because she values his friendship still all the more. It’s one of the best things in her life.

The end

Lina is aware that her feelings for Jongdae extend beyond simple friendship - she's fascinated by him when he laughs, always aware of his touch, craving the moments of skinship and the light-hearted feeling in her chest every time he smiles at her. At the same time, she's also very aware of her own precarious position in the industry, and the fact that a relationship would jeopordize both of their careers - something she would never, ever want to do to him. Her own self-esteem plays into this as well. She has no way of knowing if he feels the same way, and thinks that even if he did, he could do so much better than someone like her.

However, Jongdae is more proactive with his feelings - once he realizes he has them, that is. And he doesn't, he's actually quite unaware of how much Lina actually means to him, although he is aware of the lingering feeling of bitterness every time he sees Hongbin and Lina together. He definetely experiences jealousy, but doesn't quite know why. His bandmates find this extremely hilarious, if not a little pitiful. At any rate, Jongdae knows that his affection for Lina is quite deep, he's just not sure if it's romantic or platonic.

time we cried and laughed, goodbye now.

Last comment: tried to make Lina an original, interesting character without going overboard. Feel free to change whatever you feel needs to be changed to fit - wrote her with the idea of the lead vocalist plotline in mind, but she could really go anywhere, I'm not overly picky.
The part about her disordered eating wasn't a cheap shot at dramatics, by the way. As I said before, Lina is an original character, not based on me, but that situation is partially inspired by my own recovery from anorexia. My eating disorder was in part affected by the K-pop standard of beauty, and I thought it'd be something interesting to explore.  I thought it would fit, as well as giving a depth to her personality. Hope it doesn't seem too out of place, I tried very hard to think about how it might fit her personality, her background, and her situations. If you have any questions or issues with it, feel free to take it out, or feel free to contact me any time!
Also, some of the pictures got deleted when I posted this, or there weren't any templates for them when I got the code...so if I'm missing something, please let me know and I'll fix it right away!
Do you mind if I pick the back up love interest instead of the first choice?: not really, but if you could let me know so I could come up with a different backstory (since the one I wrote is pretty specific) that'd be nice
Are you comfortable with drama?: sure, why not :)
Scene request(s):

airport antics, frantic vocal practicing, cooking experiments in the dorm gone awry
the raccoon incident. please, please, please. :D
› something with her in a drama or movie, just to highlight her acting experiences
› I believe that the pressure that Lina puts on herself as well as the heightening popularity of an.beat and all the comebacks would eventually put a strain on her. It might lead to a tipping point where she experiences a breakdown during a rehearsal for Spring Awakening (during a highly sensual scene too, "I Believe")

Thank you very much, this was a lot of fun! :)
