her wealth also enabled her to lead an extravagant lifestyle, and it is something she embraces. she might not only have branded items, but perhaps partly due to her indecisiveness, she would be stuck between two or more pieces of clothes and after being persuaded by the shopowner, would leave the shop with all the pieces she had picked out initially. she is truly a favorite of the shopkeepers.

- she is fearful of many things, from clowns, dolls, mannequins, insects, speeding vehicles, supernatural, darkness, roller coasters, horror movies and stories, loud and sudden noises, and even people in mascot costumes. however, surprisingly she loves height, and would not be scared even when walking to the edge of a mountain or the floor underneath her feet is made out of glass and she is high up from the ground.

- also, she does not like the taste of alcohol. yui had tried to train her with it since she was worried that the girl will get taken advantage of by other guys, but she was adamant that she would not drink it. it is the one thing she will reject the person directly without worrying about the person's feelings.
- she loves to look at the stars, and has a telescope in the attic to do so. every night, she will clear her mind by lying on the mat at her balcony and admiring the starry sky. she is able to name and differentiate the constellations.

father : jung seungwoo : 60 : even though he is a wealthy businessman, he is a funny and playful father to hayeon. since they do not get to hang out together the whole time, and also he has to travel on business trips, he will try to spend as much time with her whenever he is free. they love to play around the estate with the dogs and ride on rain (the horse) when they are free.
mother : ha namjoo : 55 : she is a little more strict as compared to her husband, but she generally still trusts her daughter to make good (though it might take a long time) decisions. she pampers her daughter and would try to give her anything she asks for, since they really wanted a baby and it took them a long time trying before hayeon was finally born (and even almost risked miscarriage). hayeon goes to her for advice most of the time, especially since daddy is out working for most of the day.
friends
childhood friend : wu yifan : 25 : she calls him "kris" and he calls her "felicity". since they were old friends who met in canada, there is no form of korean formal words between them, and they occasionally mix in english, especially when they are talking between themselves. kris is protective over the girl, especially since she is naive and needs help from friends and they "almost" got together in the past, if not for the fact that he left canada before it ever happened.
new friend : ahn byulgi : 19 : they might really show that opposite attract, as they are pretty different in character. it took some time before they became friends, but the thing that bonded them was firstly, their pets (pepper lets stitch hug him and is willing to be his friend!) and secondly, their comfort with speaking in english. after they became friends, they basically talk and text on a daily basis. it is hard on byulgi but she tries her best (though it is not successful at times) to not use vulgarities, that is at lesat only in front of her. byulgi calls her "felicity" while she calls her "byul", and never uses the word "bulgogi". even when she is trying to mention the food, she will say "grilled beef" in front of byulgi instead.
best friend : yui honda : 23 : they are friends since the first day of university and they got so close that there are no secrets between them. they are super comfortable when they get together and they call the other's parents as "mom" and "dad" as well. their families even became friends due to the two of them. yui is also the only child, but she went to study in canada from japan, and hayeon helped her get accustomed to the place and the language. she stays with hayeon's family whenever she is in korea, and hayeon also does the same in hers when she is over in japan. both girls are fluent in the other's language as well, though that is limited to the spoken version, and not the written one.
others
the ex-boyfriend : yook sungjae : 20 : they got together when she was 19 and he was 16. she was back in korea for almost 7 months before the news came that she was accepted into her university in canada, and during that period of time, they met, fell in love and dated. however, the long distance relationship faded six months after she returned, and they stopped communicating. however, his friend, oh sehun (who saw her photo in his room), has told him that she is back in korea, this time for good. he wants to get her back and is working hard on it, with the help of the spy sehun (though he forgets his mission whenever byulgi is around, especially if she is seen talking to another guy). it does not seem he will succeed though, since he has way too many obstacles (byulgi, pepper, chanyeol, yifan and the list goes on).
THE SIDEKICK pepper - maltese - 2 years old
EVERYTHING IMPORTANT
born on 4 april 2013, hayeon met this little guy when he was two months old. they basically fell in love with each other at first sight. he came right to her, wagging his tail, and never wanted to leave her side even when she was leaving. three days later (i'm sorry about her indecisiveness), after her parents gave her permission, she adopted him. she wanted to name him teddy but after he returned and showed his "manly and fierce" side, she decided to call him pepper instead, even though yui tells her it sounds like a female's name. but since she called pepper that name, he never responds to any other names.
he never feels that he is a small dog, and acts like a man while protecting hayeon from... well, everything. when she is in the house, he follows her everywhere. pepper waits outside the toilet when she is using it, and sleeps on his bed which is placed right beside hayeon's (since for some reason he never tries to climb on to her bed, like a true gentleman).
pepper does not like to be carried or placed in a bag outside (but he is more than willing to get hugged and snuggled by her when they are at home), since he feels that he will not be able to protect hayeon when that happens. he chooses to be leashed though his impulsive behavior worries hayeon at times; when he is very interested in something, he will forget the rest of the world. he does not see himself as a dog, and treats other human males (of course that excludes those he lives with) as rivals for hayeon's heart. he is friendly towards human females and all other animals (sans those that wants to harm hayeon and her family). he gets along with the other family pets (they have a horse named rain, a golden retriever named chester and a cat named hermione) though he feels that hayeon belongs only to him.
he is usually not yappy at home, since he is allowed the roam the estate freely, and it zaps most of his high energy. he is a little more excited when he is on a walk outside the estate though, as he is interested in new happenings.
since yui also has a dog (a four years old male pomeranian she named pommy), she would bring him along whenever she travels to korea, which is pretty often, at least once every three months or so. the two of them will act like they are the girls' bodyguards whenever they go on walks together.
before clover was adopted and named clover, pepper would growl whenever chanyeol was near. but after clover became part of the family, pepper would still not snuggle or allow chanyeol to touch hayeon, but talking would not make him growl at chanyeol.

LOVE STORY
it was actually due to another love story. hayeon was walking pepper as usual, but they had taken a different route since there was a new ice cream stall and hayeon wanted to try it. however, pepper had seen a female toy poodle opposite the road and dashed towards her, somehow pulling hayeon along with him even though he was a tiny dog, likely due to the passion burning in his eyes. the female dog was shy, but pepper was not, and wagged his tail happily as they somehow did a dog-introduction that humans would not be able to understand. the person who was walking the dog turned out to be chanyeol, and as his usual habit, tried to hit on hayeon, who is still polite to him but was trying hard to get pepper back home, but in the end, they walked all the way back to e.x.o (pepper excited by the idea to send the girl back home) before returning home. from then on, their daily walks would be toward.o and back because pepper would walk hayeon towards that direction.
his good friend baekyeon knows about his interest in the girl and tries to help him by promoting chanyeol as a good boyfriend material everytime she brings pepper to him for grooming at least once a month. however, after she got to meet her childhood friend kris, and also befriended byulgi, the two not only did not help his case but keeps badmouthing him, simply by telling her the newest girl he was trying to hit on. it took him a few months before she stopped rejecting his advances and treated him as a friend (that was because he stopped trying to hit on her and talked to her like a normal human does). they talked more comfortably and got to know each other (and of course that includes her whole list of fears), and it seemed that chanyeol had gradually stopped trying to flirt with other girls (something that baekyeon is more than willing to announce to her). however, her ex-boyfriend came into the picture.
interactions
they meet each other daily (he will make sure he is in the shop when she comes on her walk around 5-6pm) and at first he keeps trying to hit on her. he is constantly asking her out for coffee (only to get rejected), and even bought it one day to treat her. that was the first day that he knows she does not like coffee, as yifan took it from her to drink after she had sipped a mouth from the cup and held it in her hands not planning to drink it any further, telling chanyeol directly that "if you want to hit on her, you should first know she does not like coffee". that was the first time chanyeol wakes up to the idea that he seemed to be doing it wrongly, like he was not understanding the girl but just treating her the same as every other girl.
from then on, he stopped hitting on her, but instead tried to talk to her and understand her, and also let her know him better. the frequency of him hitting on pretty girls gradually decreased as well, with the knowledge they had of each other increasing. after that, when he asked her out again, this time to a cafe he knows of with good tea and cakes, she at last agreed. he likes to pat her head and squash her cheeks, acting like he is older and was shocked when she told him her age. it annoys him when she occasionally calls kris and the others who were older "oppa" because she was not going to call him that.
hayeon does not think much of his flirting with other girls, since she feels that "that is the way he is", so when it was pointed out to her by baekhyun she is really surprised at first. it was only after that that she gradually had feelings for him and not think of him as someone who hits on every single girl, unlike her first impression of him.
he treats all the patrons well, but after sungjae's arrival, he is the first customer he was not friendly to. baekhyun, who was tasked with grooming sungjae's dog, made him look like a spinach (not literally) and from then on sungjae never used their grooming services. whenever sungjae tries to talk to hayeon, chanyeon will either pull her away first or, if he succeeds in talking, chanyeol will squint his eyes at them and try to listen to what they were discussing. he will try his best to never let them go out of the shop together. a few weeks after sungjae's appearance in hayeon's life, chanyeol even tried to text her into changing the time of her arrival to the shop. she only stopped walking past the shop daily after chanyeol managed to persuade her to get the love of pepper's life (which initially he told her not to since he wanted to see her everyday, though of course he used some other excuses. it seemed that after clover came to the house pepper was much better to chanyeol than before, as if he knew that chanyeol talked hayeon into getting clover). that way, even though chanyeol would still meet hayeon on his days off and whenever he is free, sungjae would not be able to do so as easily (chanyeol had help from baekhyun, yifan and byulgi, though the last two were not helping him but did not want hayeon to get back with sungjae. sehun, though, managed to get hayeon's new contact via the customers' contact list.)
hayeon gradually has feelings for chanyeol, but she was reluctant to hurt sungjae's feelings so she still talks to him, especially since chanyeol did not confess his feelings and hayeon is too blind to see it. when he decided to confess though, he brought her to a special place for them to see the starry night sky, and told her "i want to protect your smile", which touched her heart.
after they got together, he made sure to let sungjae know via sehun, so that the ex-boyfriend would back off... but whether he did immediately... time will tell (okay, that basically means it is up to the author-nim). he also made hayeon call him "chan oppa" when she only calls him "chan" previously, and not to call any other guys oppa, especially not yifan. he will hold her hand tightly and wrap his arms around her in public, though these actions are only possible when pepper is not around, or when clover is together with him.
COMMENTS Please call me anya! :d I am not sure if this character is acceptable... dx part of the character comes from a friend of mine (yeah, she really does not use or even want to hear vulgarities from others!) I'm not sure if it is acceptable; i used the 2nd album's song but not one of those you mentioned... i'm not sure if it is alright to make it that pepper is not from e.x.o but instead clover, the female dog that pepper is in love with, is from there. i'm just assuming that byulgi knows english since the hometown is new york, so i will edit out the friends part if i am wrong!! if it is possible, i hope that she will get to grow throughout the story, like chanyeol will somehow have a part to play in helping her not be so worried about hurting other people's feelings. she still can be polite but maybe not so sensitive and overly thoughtful that she would feel upset all the time if others are unhappy?
