writing in your first and second language

okay. just sharing.

during the past few days i wrote a fic in my native language, filipino.

and look what i've discovered to myself. i could write 6,000 words per day.

while in using english, i could only write about 2,000-3,000. it's because i keep on searching for the words i want to use in the dictionary. then i look at the thesaurus to prevent being repetitive in words.

i am overwhelmed. like really? my thoughts flow so fast when i use my own language. it's like uhm...i had a boost of confidence in writing, because when using english i feel like a trying hard snail, though i know how to use it.

before i also write so slow in filipino, but now, i got faster!

maybe from now on i'll write in filipino more often than in english.

okay. bang bang bang.

i can't get enough g dragon for that. gosh that glittery face is heaven to the eyes.

bang! bang! bang!

I completely understand how you feel. I also find it harder for my thoughts to flow when I write in English !

That's great for you! Writing on second language is truly challenging, but just like you said, you wrote slowly on Filipino too. Look at English as a challenge - the more you write, faster you'll manage to put the words you have in mind on the paper.
One of the most helpful tips I ever got for writing is - write now, edit later.
What maters is that you write the idea now, but thesaurus can be used later; if you need to use dictionary a lot, try writing that word on filipino first and later on when you're editing, look it up at the dictionary. It helped me a lot, so it might be useful to you too.
Best of luck with writing! :3

That's great~ It's kind of the opposite for me. Writing in Spanish is kind of difficult for me because it's a romance language. English is more of a serious language, and I enjoy writing angsty. :) But that's wonderful to know. English is indeed a hard language from grammar, words, rules, and punctuation that even as a fluent speaker is so hard to understand >.<
