Ruby appears to be younger than she looks because of her petite build, despite her average height. One friend once remarked that she seemed so fragile that her bones would break if touched with too much force. Also, she doesn't seem to put on any weight no matter how much she eats.

fashion style

Ruby isn't the girly kind of girl, so her clothes are mostly simple and casual, comprising mainly of shorts, leggings and jeans. She loves to layer her tops for an added touch of style. She doesn't feel comfortable wearing skirts or dresses, especially because she is a rather active person, though she is aware that some ocacasions call for it. Ruby also likes to wear high tops, ugg boots and mid-calf boots. She tends to prefer dark coloured or plain clothing to bright coloured clothing.

Ruby is somewhat of a tomboy, although she likes to be feminine sometimes (well, she is still a girl, after all). Her reason for not dressing up more often is because it's impractical - she doesn't see a need to dress up for every day events.

Loyal, Protective & Straightforward: Loyalty is without a doubt Ruby's strongest trait. She can always be depended on to have your back, especially if she has made it clear that she will stand by you, because Ruby always keeps to her word. She would go down fighting than surrender to the opponent, metaphorically and literally. Ruby can be forgiving of people who have hurt her (till a certain level), but she will never forgive those that hurt her loved ones. She isn't afraid to fight for her loved ones and her beliefs - literally, if her friends or family were being threatened. She hates the complexity when people say what they don't mean and hide who they are, and hence is always honest and straightforward with her feelings. She understands that this may be hurtful sometimes, but she maintains that it is better to hurt a person with the truth than the hurt of being lied to. This has earned her the good reputation of being who she really is, and her words are usually trusted.

Compassionate & Friendly: Ruby is a very compassionate and sympathetic person because she is emotionally-driven. She feels happy when she knows that she has made other people happy. One of the things that she wants to achieve in life is to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of others.  Ruby is also a very approachable person. Most of the time, she is the one to take the initiative in getting to know others. She is able to bond with people easily because of her friendly and inclusive nature.

Calm: Ruby's ability to remain cool and composed even during critical situations is another one of her strong points. She is able to keep her emotions under control during such situations and think of solutions. Other people are often shocked by how calm she can be, and sometimes even mistake her calmness for lack of concern. To Ruby, what is important is to resolve the current issue rather than react to it.

Insecure: As a result of her friendly nature, Ruby gets emotionally attached to people (and things) easily. In the past, she has been hurt many times by people whom she thought were her friends. Thus, now, even after becoming friends with others, she will tend to pull back after reaching a certain level of closeness with them, isolating herself or putting up walls to prevent them from getting even closer so she can protect herself from getting hurt again. Despite this, being friendly is part of Ruby's base nature, so she can't help but continue to be friendly to others, though untrusting of them until they have proven themselves. As a result of her past experiences, she wonders frequently if she is good enough for others, and constantly fears her loved ones leaving her. She is also quick to assume the negative with regards of that. She doesn't like to confide her problems to other people as she is afraid of burdening them.

Critical: Ruby is quite a bit of a perfectionist. She is very critcal of herself and her actions, and only wants the best efforts and results. Thus, she constantly pushes herself to become better, and even though this is a good point, more often than not, she places too much pressure and expectations on herself that she cannot fulfill, which causes her self-esteem to decrease. Sometimes, she wonders if she really isn't good enough when she is unable to meet her own expectations.

Ruby's mother was in Verona, Italy, for a university exchange when she met Ruby's father, and they fell in love, eventually getting married. However, Ruby's rich paternal grandparents disagreed to the match due to her mother being an orphan and of low social status (despite her intelligence, having won scholarships), and as a result, they were cut off from her father's inheritance when they went ahead with the marriage. For a few years, they lived in Verona, and had two daughters, Raina and Ruby. 5 years after Ruby was born, they decided to move to Japan in search of better opportunities.

As she was growing up, Ruby was taught to be very thrifty due to their financial problems. Though her mother was highly intelligent and graduated with honours, due to the gender discrimination in Japan, she was unable to find a well-paying job and had to settle for a lower-paying one. Her father had an average-paying job as well. Having spent all their money in coming to Japan, they were trying really hard to make ends meet. As such, she and Raina started working part time to help the family as soon as they were able to. Despite the hardship, the family loved and cared for each other dearly. Everything seemed like it was going well - till they received that accursed eviction notice. With nothing left but their dignity to maintain, Ruby chose to leave school to work and earn for a new home. Thankfully, Raina, like her mother, had received a scholarship and was in Australia, and hence, the family didn't have to worry about her school fees. Ruby's parents felt guilty that their daughter had to drop out of school, but Ruby constantly assured them that family mattered more, and she could always return to complete her studies again.

Father — Alan Farelia // 47 // Photographer // Seemingly fierce and unapprochable on the outside, but is actually a really nice and caring father. He can be a little on the materialistic side, proably due to his upbringing, and only sees the results instead of efforts. // Ruby isn't as close to him as her mother, but she still respects him greatly for being a good father and husband. She wishes to interact with him more, as he always seems to be away from home and busy with work. However, she also understands that he's just trying to make enough money so that they will be able to survive.

Mother — Inoue Tsubaki // 47 // Office Worker // A very loving and caring person, willing to sacrifice for her loved ones. She is very intelligent and hardworking, and would even forget her meals sometimes due to work. She is also very thrifty and cautious in her spending, and hence is very good at handling finances - as such, she hopes to be promoted to the financial department in the fashion company she works for soon, especially since it's a higher-paying job. // Ruby is very close to her mother, and many of her values and beliefs were influenced by her mother as she was growing up. Both of them constantly worry for each other's health due to working so much.

Elder Sister — Raina Farelia // 22 // University Student // A very gentle, mature and intelligent person. She is very pretty and lady-like, pretty much the opposite of Ruby. She always seems to be able to do everything perfectly, is nice to everyone and loves her family. // Raina seems so perfect to Ruby that it is no wonder the former is the latter's role model. They have a close sibling relationship, and Raina constantly dotes on her young sister. Sometimes, though, Raina seems too perfect that Ruby actually gets jealous of her. Part of the pressure and expectations she puts on herself are due to her sister. However, Ruby doesn't hate her sister, just deeply admires and envies her.

Best Girl Friend — Stephanie (Steph) Hwang // 19 // Student // Stephanie is a very supportive and encouraging person - to the people she cares about, at least. To most others, she has a y and pretentious side, though most are unaware that it's just an act she puts on to prevent from getting backstabbed by people she thinks are her friends again. // Steph was a transfer student from South Korea, and at first, she and Ruby were just normal classmates. After she was backstabbed by her supposed best friend, Ruby was the one who happened to be there for her. They became best friends afterwards, both knowing the pain of betrayal. To date, Steph remains as Ruby's one and only close female friend.

Best Guy Friend — Ishimaru Takumi (Friendship plotliine) // 21 // Student/Model/Musician // Faithful, protective, outspoken, straightforward, blunt, determined, cautious. // Takumi was Ruby's childhood friend as they were growing up, and he was the one who sparred with Ruby to improve her fighting skills. He is also her confidant and advisor, along with Steph, though sometimes the both of them still have to pester Ruby to get her to tell them her problems. He also knows and understands Ruby quite well. Ruby also cares for him as a friend greatly. They tease and make fun of each other a lot, but are always there for each other. At times, they can bicker strongly over the most trivial of things, yet agree unanimously on others. It seems like they have a special connection to each other and are able to read each other's minds. At first, he treats her as a younger sister, but as time passes by, it seems like it has grown into something more~ Due to Ruby's family's financial issues, and him being the face of the cause of those issues, it has caused them to become more distant towards each other. Takumi once offered to help her family financially, but was rejected as Ruby felt that he pitied them as helpless. Even though they aren't exactly on good terms now, they still care a lot for each other.

Digimon — Penmon

Digimon's personality — Despite his appearance as a cute penguin, Penmon is rather mature and conscious of human feelings and thoughts. He might even be the most mature of the Digimons belonging to the Digidestined. Well, he has to be, seeing as his partner is someone who dislikes Digimon, seeing them as the bane of her life. He understands Ruby's dislike of Digimon and hence tries his best to blend into the background as much as possible, keeping silent. He tries to please his partner when he can. He also has a playful and childish side to him which rarely comes out as he wants Ruby to like him, but it shows more often after Ruby warms up to him. He is generally contented with what he has, just that he craves love, affection and acceptance from his partner.

Relationship With character & DIGIMON — Penmon and Ruby have a rather silent relationship, the former always trying to not bother the latter and pleasing her as much as he can, while she just doesn't care. Penmon actually feels sad that his partner doesn't like him, although he tries to hide it so that she won't dislike him even more. She gradually warms up to him after he tried to protect her from an attack/threat, almost sacrificing his life (or maybe he does and is reborn as an egg, up to you haha. The attack/threat is up to you to decide too!). From then on, they become more like partners in crime, working well together in combat almost as if they can read each other's minds, and sometimes even playing pranks on the other Digidestined.
