The warm breeze brushed past your cheeks as you stood at the foot of the path. You stared long and hard at the ground, waiting for him to arrive.

 

    Within moments, another pair of feet came into your field of view. You brought your gaze up, his eyes locking with yours as he tucked your hair behind your ear.

 

    Your lips curved into a smile at the sight of him.

 

    “You didn’t wait long did you?” he asked softly, holding your hand.

 

    You shook your head in response. “No matter how long I have to wait, I will always be here.”

 

    He smiled, then letting out a sigh.

 

    “Promise me, that you’ll keep smiling. No matter what happens?”

 

    “Of course, why do you ask?”

 

    He suddenly brings you into an embrace, holding you tightly.

 

    “No reason. But I have to go now….don’t forget our promise, okay?”

 

    He pulled away from the hug, as he began to walk the other direction.

 

    “You’ll come back….right?”

 

    “Just believe in me okay?”

 

    You reached out to him, but he was gone. Becoming a faded memory.

 

    You continued to smile, as a small tear falls down your face.

    The tears increased as he kissed your forehead. The air became cold as he held you in his arms.

 

    “You’re leaving me?”

 

    “This is for the best, my love.”

 

    You looked at him in silence, as you tried your best to bear with the situation.

 

    “Don’t forget our promise, please?” you asked in a soft voice.

 

    He held your face gently. “As long as you continue to smile for me.”

 

    You nodded earnestly, as he wiped away your tears. Once more, he walked away, disappearing into the air.

 

    You put your hand over your heart, clutching your shirt tightly. The heart ache grew with each step he took. “I believe in you….”

    His large hands held yours tightly. You bit your lip, trying to look happy for him. You knew it was happening again.

 

    “Please don’t leave me again.”

 

    “I’m sorry, but I have to go.”

 

    “Please….please promise that you will come back, I don’t want to lose you…”

 

    “Don’t worry, we will be together again soon, okay?”

 

    You nodded, reaching out to hug him…..but all that was left was air.

    “We are one...remember?”
