“Get the out of there, or I’ll break the door down.” Kris screamed banging on the bathroom door.

It was another one of their stupid arguments, I had witnessed so many of them that I’ve lost count. It’s always started and ended the same; Tao would do something out of order. Yet, for some reason it was always Kris who ends up on his knees, begging Tao to forgive him.

“What did he do this time?” I asked, not because I cared but it just became a habit over time.

I didn’t expect Kris to show me a small packet of coke.

“He’s taking drugs again?!”

His drug taking was another one of their endless arguments that never seemed to get resolved. Whenever Kris caught Tao red handed he would always promise to sober up but his resolution would only last for a week.

Kris being the gullible idiot he was were Tao was concerned would quickly forgive him and believe he would keep his promise.  The last time Kris caught him lying to him yet again was different. I had honestly thought things were finally over between them or at least I had hoped they were. Kris had been beyond angry and had thrown Tao’s possessions into a garbage bag and would have physically thrown him out of our apartment if it wasn’t for me.

I still regretted my decision to intervene, I hated Tao but I knew he had nowhere to go if Kris kicked him out on to the streets. Tao as expected never bothered to thank me and I quickly forgot my momentary lapse of compassion and went back to detesting Tao with all my might. 

Tao finally exited the bathroom and I went back into my bedroom. I knew how it would play out; Tao will come out with crocodile tears and without any self-respect, blame Kris. Telling him that he was the reason why he started taking drugs again, because Kris was ignoring him and was spending more time with his friends than with his boyfriend.

And that’s what he did say.

Typical Tao.

And seeing what a big oblivious idiot Kris is, he forgave him.

I just wish that Kris would finally realise that Tao is just with him for his money. He makes it obvious that he’s a gold digger, just not obvious enough so that Kris will notice.

I hope that one day he’ll realise who really loves him.
