Photograph [Broken Memories #2]From what she could remember, Yeri was never opposed to a little party. Seungwan had chosen to throw it at her own house at which her parents would be present but locked up in their room the whole time. She’d been repeatedly told that no alcohol was allowed at the party and this time she agreed because she would never be so irresponsible to let their young friend around it. None of her friends even drank alcohol, if one didn’t count Seulgi and Jongin but they’d recently quit doing all that stupid things together. Their lives were much more stable now that they had each other.
All the guests were already there and they were just waiting for Sooyoung and Yeri to show up. The music was blasting, the food had been set out and everyone was having a good time just talking before the main event. Seungwan was glued to Joohyun’s side because she enjoyed her best friend’s company and because Sehun kept glancing over at her and it was kind of starting to freak her out.
“He won’t stop looking at me,” she whispered to Joohyun.
“I noticed that. Maybe he wants to talk to you,” she told her.
“He’s not supposed to want to talk to me first. I’m supposed to approach him.”
Joohyun laughed at her and shook her head. Seungwan let herself be made fun of because she supposed she sounded ridiculous. It was nerve wracking to be around him, especially since she’d made up her mind to confront him about everything that had happened between them. She couldn’t even look at him without a sense of dread settling itself the pit of her stomach. She allowed herself a look at Sehun and turned away again when their eyes met. The anticipation of it all was killing her.
“We’re here!” Sooyoung’s voice called.
Finally.
She turned around and couldn’t help but be overjoyed about seeing Yeri. Their young friend looked almost exactly like she used to before she moved to Japan so the only difference was that she looked older and she’d gotten prettier too. Their friend had grown out her long hair and it had been dyed a nice shade of brown. She was even wearing makeup, which was very neatly done.
“Seungwan! Joohyun! I missed you guys,” she said, cheerfully. Seungwan pulled Yeri into a tight hug and squeezed her until she coughed. She immediately let Yeri go and grinned.
“Sorry, too hard. I missed you to squirt. I feel like it’s been forever since you moved to Japan,” she told Yeri as Joohyun came closer for a hug.
“It literally has been forever. Where’s Seulgi?” Yeri said, looking around. dropped open and when Seungwan followed her gaze, she sighed.
“If you two don’t stop making out, I’ll cut Jongin’s off,” Sooyoung yelled.
Yeri giggled, covering as the couple broke apart, both red in the face with embarrassment at being called out like that. The badboy glared at Sooyoung and stuck his tongue out at her. Seulgi rushed over to scoop Yeri in a hug and practically tackled her to the floor. The two of them squealed and said their greeting but then it was time for Yeri to meet the rest of the gang, who were now gathered near the front door waiting for their turns.
“Yeri, this is my boyfriend, Jongin,” Seulgi introduced them.
Jongin skipped a handshake and went straight in for hug. Seungwan did her best to gauge Yeri’s reaction at being hugged by a complete stranger but it seemed like she was just fine. She would totally draw the line if Sehun even thought about getting in there for a hug but thankfully he knew his place and when he introduced himself, he stayed where he was and just waved a quiet hello. Mark did the same but Suzy took the initiative to give her a handshake.
That was one thing Seungwan hated about her. She was just so goddamn nice to everyone which made it impossible to dislike her or the fact that she and Mark were together. It didn’t make it easier for her at all. There was no comfort in knowing that they could possibly break up because it was very likely that they wouldn’t.
Yeri and Sooyoung went off into the kitchen to get some food while Joohyun struck up a conversation with Suzy. She was left to sit by herself and stare at Mark, who was joking around with Sehun. She felt the familiar feeling of longing when she looked at him. Even after all this time, she couldn’t help but think about all the times she’d been the object of his affection.
She’d been the one Mark looked to hang out with after school. They’d been very close at one point, sharing all their thought and hopes for the future. She
