THIRD UPDATE
"ing hell, I hate this ."
Lacey nearly choked on her lunch when she heard the mysterious voice talk. It was unfamiliar and it belonged to a male for sure. It was deep, but definitely not as deep as Chanyeol's. It was as if the voice was in the back of her head, not outside.
She felt a gush of wind pound on her back, saving her from choking to death. Teary eyed from the clogging of she shot a grateful look towards Sehun, "Thanks."
He didn't say anything, but nodded.
"You should eat more slowly, Lacey." Suho chided like a mother.
"Um, yeah..." She trailed off, glancing around the room for someone who shouldn't be there. Maybe it was a ghost, one that she couldn't see yet. Usually they liked to present themselves to her in a rather heart attacking manner, cough—Izzy and Penny—cough, but this one was probably shy...
"When the hell is that girl gonna get me out of here?! It burns like hell!"
Lacey shivered at the anger in his voice. He sounded like he was in pain though, as if he really was burning in hell. Soon enough, as if reading her thoughts, she heard the familiar sound of fire crackling in the distance.
", , not again..." She heard the person hiss in panic. She heard him breathing heavily, letting out hyperventilating pants, as he braced himself for whatever was going to come.
"AGHHHHH!"
Gasping in horror, she dropped all utensils onto the plate and covered her ears hastily. She couldn't hear her friends yelling her name and worriedly asking if she was okay, all she could hear was the unknown man screaming in pain and the crackling of fire getting louder.
She sent a quick glance at Chanyeol. He wasn't using his powers, only getting up from his seat like everyone else was.
"AHHH! NO, NO!" The man screamed on. Desperately, she pressed her hands against her ears even tighter. But that didn't do anything but block off the sounds of her friends frantically calling her name. The only thing muffled was them and not the man or the fire.
The nine boys were in a panic, not knowing why Lacey looked to be in so much pain as she tried to block off her hearing. Sehun had no idea if this was a normal occurrence, but judging from everyone's perturbed expressions, he knew it wasn't normal.
She was hearing something and he didn't know what it was. Amongst them, he had the best hearing because the wind was everywhere, meaning he could hear from alarming distances.
But he couldn't hear whatever she was hearing.
Maybe it was because the other eight men were in hysterics, or maybe...
It's all in her head.
He shoved Tao, who was in front of Lacey, out of his way and replaced his spot. He held her wrists and carefully tried to pry them away from her deafened ears. Of course, she fought back.
"Lacey, listen to me. It's all in your head." Sehun stated.
"What?!" He heard a few of his friends exclaim.
He ignored them and tried to assure her again. "It's all in your head, Lacey. Whatever it is that you are hearing, it's in your head."
Lacey stared at him with her big brown eyes, but usually, whenever she looked at him, it would be warm and comforting. But this time, they were wild and confused. He didn't like that all.
"Just calm down." He tried to soothe her.
Keyword: tried.
Pushing him away, she stood up from her seat and bolted out of the dining room.
"Lacey!" She ignored Jongdae and even pushed him out of the way. He stood there, flabbergasted like everyone else.
"Her expression was completely blank when she pushed me away!" Jongdae exclaimed.
Lay was the first to chase after her, calling back to them, "She's not herself anymore!"
Finally the remaining boys sprung into action and followed right after the healer.
Jongdae bit his lip as he sprinted alongside the other boys. He really didn't like what was going on with her. The expression on her face was so... blank. She didn't even bother to look his way when she pushed him aside. And there was force in her push.
As if she really didn't care whether or not the shove hurt him. It didn't hurt him though, not physically at least, but emotionally, yes. Yes it did hurt him and it hurt him a lot.
He was used to seeing her with emotions. Annoyance, kindness, and sassiness were the emotions he saw from her everyday and he had grown used to it, sort of.
He wondered if this was a ghost thing, or maybe it was because she was... aware, whatever that meant.
Tao, although he didn't see her blank expression, had a good idea of what was going on. It strangely reminded her of the day when she discovered that Luhan was trapped in the basement. He or Lay had no idea how she knew that but h
