Remember when I promised a small lovey-dovery scene? Well here it is! But it's really small, so sorry. Also, thanks to those who took the poll!
"TAO!" Lacey, who was the closest to him, let out a shrill scream as the man was snatched up and launched towards the air, heading straight for the spider. Everyone froze in their spots, eyes widening as they watched and listened onto Tao's screeches that could rival against a banshee's.
Baekhyun stood still in disbelief. I could have prevented this.
Within seconds, the monstrosity had Tao wrapped in a blanket of its silky cobwebs. It twisted and turned the man around like a spinning wheel, cocooning him in a thick shell. Lacey quickly turned to Baekhyun to urge him to do something, but her wrist was grabbed.
Luhan shook his head, a forlorn expression on his face. Immediately, Lacey understood. Baekhyun can't help.
Luhan's face changed from sadness to serious. "Jongdae," He turned to the muted boy. "Are you able to use your powers? Enough to get rid of that thing?" At the nod of Jongdae's head, he continued, "Good, obliterate that beast and I'll get Tao to safety."
It was a good plan, but it was challenged. Tao thrashed wildly in his suffocating cocoon, it wiggled around in the spider's web which irritated the creature very much. With another ear-shattering screech, it barred its two large fangs and jabbed it through the cocoon. Tao thrashed more weakly this time, and finally, all his movement stopped.
Well that just made a large dent in their plan.
Even worse was when it faced them, letting out another screech. They were barely able to see the threads shoot towards its next victim. Although everyone stepped back, it was not enough. The thread had caught Lacey and started to—
"Lacey!" Lay shot towards her, hand outstretched to grab onto her arm.
"AHHHHH!" The two of them screamed once they felt their feet get lifted above the ground. Lacey let out a flurry of mental cusses as she and Lay were taken from the ground.
Lacey was first to collide with the roof. Next was Lay, but he didn't hit the roof, instead he had fallen atop of Lacey, chests hitting each other causing them to groan in pain from the impact. Within a second the two of them suddenly started to get dizzy as the spider spun them around. She could feel the silk threads wrapping around them, clinging onto their skin.
They reacted instantly. They wiggled and thrashed around, not even caring when they accidentally bumped each other's heads a couple of times. All they focused on was on one thing: Get the heck out of here.
It was a miracle the both of them were still able to breath. Their personal bubble were tossed out of the window as they breathed heavily, their panting breaths fanning the other's face. Of course, the both of them turned red—Lay more so than Lacey—but realization started to dawn on them. The spider was done cocooning them and it would soon get irritated with their thrashing and bite them.
So they had no choice but to stop and lay there, trapped in its spider web.
"What do we do?" Lay whispered.
Their lips were way too close for comfort. As Lacey whispered her 'I don't know' her lips nearly grazed his. She tried not to gulp. Their foreheads were already mashed against the other and their noses were touching, she didn't want her lips anywhere near his.
Besides, how would they talk if they were too busy kissing?
"I can barely hear them..." Lacey whispered, straining her ears for her fellow friends.
"I think I can hear the spider..." Lay informed her, his brows furrowed as he focused on the spider's sounds.
This is what I get for blasting music in my ears, Lacey thought bitterly, envying Lay's great hearing. She could barely hear anything on the other side. As she glanced around the silk shell, she felt her fingernails sink deeper into the shell.
Then she felt it slightly rip at her sudden force.
Eyes brightening at the new escape plan, she asked Lay, "Can you tell how far it is?"
Lay, without thinking, nodded his head only to end up smooching his lips against her's. They both jumped back—or at least tried to—at the contact of their lips. Lacey was as red as her hair whereas Lay was much more worse. Oh hot damn Yixing, why do you do this to me?! Lacey tried her best to drag her mind back to their current situation (which was worse than a little kiss).
Deciding not to mention that kiss (ever again) she asked him, "So how far is it?"
Although Lacey was feeling just a bit awkward about this she was still able to hide it somewhat. As for Lay, he couldn't. "U-Uh," he stammered. "I-It's... Uh... Um, it's—it's far from us, but n-now its uh, coming to us."
Lacey went to action immediately. Using her dangerously manicured nails, she slashed and slashed, and ripped through layers of the spider's silky threads. There were times like this that made her proud of her nails, they weren't just for looking pretty, you know?
"Almost done!" Lacey said to her company.
Lay made a small grin, "I-I don't think it hears you, it's not getting any faster."
Lacey grinned, "Good." And she felt her hand meet with the fresh air as it out of her cocoon. It didn't take a while for her to fully free the both of them from their confinement. As they carefully turned to face Tao's cocoon, they heard the familiar shrieking of the spider.
Lacey didn't bother to rip through the layers of silk from Tao's cocoon for there was no time to do so. Instead she used h
