Returning smiles

I'd Climb Walls For You

(Meagan's POV)

The next couple of days were so different for me...I had never experienced emotions like this before in my entire life.

I didn't like Jungkook, at least I didn't think that was the case.  But every time that idiot would smile at me or every time I heard his shy laugh I found my stomach fluttering.

But I didn't like Jungkook.

The next day after we first met, he came right up to me as soon as he entered the building.

"Hi."  He said quickly, and shyly, but still with a faint smile on his face.

"Hi, how are you?"  I said, returning the smile.  He beamed at me, but didn't answer.  I kept forgetting that he probably didn't understand very much English.  I felt kind of stupid, but I still wanted to seem friendly to him, and make him feel welcome.

"I'm good!"  He finally answered.  "You?"  I was surprised he was able to understand me so well.  I hadn't really heard him talk much except for the few little words he said to me in English.  I secretly wished one day he would speak to me in fluent Korean.  Even if I understood nothing, I still wanted to hear him just talk.  He's so shy it's almost sad.

I desperately wished I could ask him so many questions.  What's it like back home?  What's it like being a famous pop star?  What's your group like?  Do you like me?  Wait, except for that last part...maybe.  I really couldn't pinpoint how I felt about him.  I had never really liked someone before, but I had always imagined when you found a person you felt that strongly for, every time you saw them you would get butterflies in your stomach and you'd smile like an idiot.  But maybe those things only happened in fairy tales.

To be honest, I was nervous being around him.  Maybe it was his intimidating height, or the fact that he's famous in another country.  I didn't know, but other than our cheerful "hello's" and smiles we exchanged each day, I couldn't muster up the confidence to say much to him.

For the first 3 days after meeting, we tried our best to communicate.  He seemed to be interested in me because I was the only one in the whole class he ever seemed to talk to.  And despite being an interesting foreign exchange student, no one seemed to be interested in him very much.  Aside from our little talks, I would every now and again, catch him watching me dance out of the corner of my eye.  Why the hell is he watching me dance?

Every day, he would come in, speed up to me, plop down and just smile.  Which seemed odd to me because he acted so shy around everyone else.  But still, we carried on like this.  "Hello!"  "How are you?"  "Good."  And with lots of smiles.

And I think I charished our shared smiles the most.
