"YAH! PALI YOU !". You grabbed your bag and rushed out of the classroom as soon as you heard him screaming after you. You reached the entrance door of your school and fell into the arms of an annoyed Lay. He rolled his eyes and just stared at you. "Yah, how long does it take you to get your together and come here, hm?". You looked into his beautiful eyes and had to gulp down before mumbling: "I'm sorry, I had to clear up a few things with Tao.". His eyes softened immediately as soon as he saw the sweat running down your face. He chuckled and pulled out a shirt and gave it to you. “Here use it to dry up your face. You look like you just ran a marathon.”. You kept staring into his eyes and just reached out to get the shirt as you mumbled a thank you and dried your face with it. While doing it you closed your eyes and breathed in his amazing scent. Then you suddenly realized what you were doing and quickly reopened them just to catch a smirking Lay staring at you.

“Wow, I always knew that I smell good, but not THAT good to cause people literally inhaling it.” You could feel your face burning up and quickly looked down to the ground so that your bangs would hide your face from him. “I didn’t inhale anything you idiot, I was just catching my breath.” You threw his shirt back to him. “By the way where is Baekhyun now? I thought he’s always on time?” He checked the time on his iPhone and sighed to himself. “He usually IS always on time, I don’t know what ha…”. Before he could finish his sentence you two could hear a car hooping. “I DON’T WANT TO INTERRUPT YOU GUYS BUT WE’RE A BIT LATE SO MOVE YOUR FEAKIN ASSES INTO MY CAR. NOW!”. You gave each other short glances and rushed towards an angry Baekhyun. You hopped into the backseat and Lay found his place beside Baekhyun.

“So you guys know that the others are waiting for us. They already prepared everything for the surprise party, there are just some details left to be done.” He shot me a glance through the mirror and started the car. “I’m so excited to see his face.” You chuckled and looked out of the window while you imagined Luhans’ surprised face. “He doesn’t know anything right?” Lay gave Baekhyun a concerned look. “Haha, no. He’s so dense. I believe he would’ve also forgotten about his birthday if we wouldn’t have asked him about his gift.” Baekhyun laughed and drove into a parking lot. He stopped the car and you jumped out of it and went to the hall you guys arranged for Luhans’ birthday.

You heard the two guys stepping behind you before knocking on the door.

Xiumin opened the door and made a welcoming gesture for you to step into the room. You stepped into the big hall and couldn’t keep a gasp coming out of your mouth. The room was full of balloons and in the middle they’ve built up a desk. On its top was the greatest cake you’ve ever seen in your life. Happy Birthday our de(e)arest LuLu was written over it with a bright blue colour. Chen, Chanyeol and Kai were in the act of hanging up a sign that was saying We love you right above it. It was beautiful. In the background was playing softly one of your favourite songs of EXO. You summed along and turned around to clap your hands “You guys did an amazing job, Luhan will probably cry his eyes out!” You flashed the guys in the room a bright smile. The guys grinned back and greeted you warm heartedly. “By the way why are guys so late?” Kris gave you Lay and Baekhyun a questioning look. “My fault” Baek lifted his hand. “Actually we could’ve made it just in time but my mother needed some medicine so I had to get that for her.” He shrugged his shoulders. “Sorry.” Kris just grinned at him. “Yah you don’t have to be when there’s no need for it. The most important thing is that you guys are here.” He winked at you and turned his attention back to Suho, Sehun and D.O who were trying to organize the snacks they’ve brought along. You gave them a warm smile before truning around and almost crashing into Lay who was only inches away from you. You felt your heart beat rising up and prayed to god that he couldn’t hear it. You lifted your head to give him a questioning look but stopped in the middle of your movement. Your face colour turned a bright red and you quickly looked back to the ground. He was just standing there and staring at you, you couldn’t handle it. You lifted your hands and hit him lightly. “Yah, stop scaring me like that.” You wanted to step  back but Lay suddenly grabbed your wrist. “I didn’t want to scare you.” You lifted your head again. “Th-then what d-do you think you’re doing right now Yixing?” you stuttered. He let go of your wrist, scratched his head and stepped back. He turned away and walked towards Chanyeol who seemed to need help with his side of the We love you sign. You didn’t know what to do with your body right now. You just stood there, confused, not understanding what happened right now.

Lately Lay has been doing things like this more frequently and you just don’t know what they meant. You didn’t want to get up hopes for nothing. But you just couldn’t help it. You had a crush on Lay since two years but you already accepted the fact that he’ll never want anything from you, his best friend. He sees you as his little sister, and he made that clear, several times already. You didn’t have anything against it; as long as you were able to stay as near by his side as possible. But then again, it was painful seeing him 'playing' with all those beautiful girls in your class. You knew you weren’t that pretty, but you weren’t ugly either, with your long black hair, your brown eyes with full and long lashes and your heart shaped lips. You sighed and decided to shove those thoughts away. It was hopeless the more you thought about it. “Min-jun I need your help over here!” D.O waved at you before you jogged towards him.

~1hour later, the preparations were done, you guys were waiting for Tao and Luhan. Tao had been in charge to keep Luhan busy while you guys were preparing the birthday party. Xiumin turned off the lights and turned the music down completely. Every one of you got a little party hut, matching the bright blue colour of the cake. The only thing left now was waiting. You stood beside Suho, D.O, Chanyeol and Kris and whispered about the upcoming test your math teacher has planned. Suddenly you were interrupted by a knock on the door.

You abruptly broke the discussion and shut your mouth. Outside the door you could hear Tao saying: “Luhan would you please hurry up now?” Then steps. “What did you want to show me? I know this place already Tao, we can go back now, I need to visit my grandmother!” “Just come here already.” You heard the door open and you all began to scream “HAPPY BIRTHDAY LULU!”. Xiumin turned the light back on and rushed over to the CD-player to turn the volume on a maximum. Everyone surrounded a surprised Luhan who just stood there with his mouth wide open and a Tao, who was laughing his off. “GOT'YA! HAHAHA HE DIDN’T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!” He and Sehun gave each other high-fives before everyone, one for one, hugged Luhan tightly while he was already tearing up. “Are you guys crazy or what? Oh my god.”, he sobbed. Now it was your turn and you whispered a happy birthday into his ear. After everyone got to hug Luhan you started to crowd around the food. “Chincha are you guys crazy or what? You didn’t need to do that for me!”. “No, but we wanted to, so shut the up before we think it over again and eat the cake by ourselves.” Suho giggled. You were smiling like an idiot when Baekhyun came up to you and asked: “Hey, do you know where Lay went?” You gave him a surprised look and looked around to realize that he was really missing.

“Uhm no… but I can go out and check on him quickly.” He nodded at you and you made your way to the door before stepping out. Without thinking you went to the back of the building because you knew that Lay was often smoking secretly without the other members knowing about it. Before you turned around the corner you could hear Lay talking to his phone. He giggled. “Pabo, I would never forget our date… yes… no… but one of my friends celebrates his birthday today… Of course I would want to spent the time with you now… hmm… yes… I love you, I’ll see you tomorrow then. Byee~.” You turned around the corner just to see him putting his phone back into his pocket and sighing out loud and leaning against the wall. When he heard you, he turned to the side to see you coming near. Surprise was written all over his face. “Uhm… don’t mind me, Baekhyun was just worried about you so he wanted me to check if everything was okay…” You gulped down. “I-I didn’t know you had a girlfriend?” You were too shocked to care about your cracking voice now. You knew that Lay was pretty popular amongst the girls but he never had an actual relationship with them. Never. Just for fun. That’s why it hit you so hard when you heard him saying I love you. Also, you were his best friend. He never kept any secrets from you, ever. You felt jealousy and disappointment washing over you.

“Oh.. yeah… that…”, he lightly chuckled while scratching the back of his head. “I actually wanted to tell you that today but somehow I couldn’t find the right opportunity.” “Haha, that’s okay, don’t worry, you don’t need to tell me everything about your life”, you didn’t know how but you were able to smile at him without showing any other emotions on your face. “By the way, you should get a boyfriend too Min-jun. You’re already 17…” He stepped towards you. “I think Baekhyun has a crush on you, why don’t you guys try it?” Another step. You still had that smile on your face. “Ahaha, you’re funny Lay, stop spitting out nonsense. Why is it time for me to get a boyfriend already? You’re 18 and this is your first girlfriend you know?” You didn’t know how but your voice didn’t crack this time. “I’m being serious about Baek. He’s had an eye on you since you joined our little group. And also, I’m experienced already, so you can’t count that as my first.” Now he was again only inches away from you. He lifted your chin and forced you to look him into his face.

“You’re still a Min-jun.”

Uhm yeah... I hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter of this short little story, I'll try to keep it as short as possible >.<
