Never Trust A Stranger-Friend

Once Upon A Time... (on hiatus)

Sungmin woke up from the memories he recalled only days ago. Even though it was days ago, he still couldn't let any of it go. Nor could he forget everything he had seen. He woke up from a dream, or what seemed like a dream. Perhaps it was a nightmare? Maybe the dream was something bad? Or, perhaps the nightmare was something good? He hated when roles switched all of a sudden. It made him think to much. He felt as if he thought too hard, his head would actually explode.

His stomach grumbled, but the imagination of brains and blood everywhere made him lose his appetite completely. His Grand'Mere didn't have a phone, so his mother had to write a letter to her. He doubted it would be a year later before the mailman returned with a response. He didn't want to doubt his Grand'Mere's speed, but had visited her bingo sessions and they were excruciating to experience.

He had only been ten, bit even then he still found himself wishing he could shoot himself right then and there. Supposedly, due to his "complaints" his Grand'Mere had lost the round.

His eyes landed on the little doll he had laid on his nightstand. He took the doll in his hands and took the note. He skimmed the note over and over again and looked at the doll at the same time. For some odd reason he felt weird and uncomfortable around this doll. It looked almost strange. He bit his lip and placed it on his pillow.

Sungmin had exited his room and headed downstairs to see his mother sitting at the small circular dining table with a few papers near her, although she was only reading one. He eyed her facial expression and flinched when she looked up at him with watery eyes. His mother was crying and the last time he saw her cry was when they had been watching Titanic a year ago.

He approached her and hugged her tightly. He exhaled a deep breath before popping out the question simply, "Umma, what's wrong? I don't get it, tell me, please. You must tell me."

Mrs. Lee chuckled nervously as she hugged her dear son back and sobbed hardly onto his shoulder. She pulled away from him and tried putting on a bright smile.

"Oh, don't mind me, my son." Mrs. Lee said as she wiped her tears and started taking each paper and folding it.

Sungmin stood there with narrowed eyes and his arms crossed and leaning on his chest. He studied his mother as she calmly folded the papers. He knew his mother just didn't cry randomly. That wasn't his mother. She tried keeping the fort up, even if it meant smiling for the rest of her life. He doubted the tears were of joy. She had held him back, even if it was temporarily.

The embrace she gave to him wasn't out of congratulations. It had been out of comfort.

"What was that?" Sungmin asked as he kept his eyes glued permanently to his mother.

Mrs. Lee looked at him and smiled even though her eyes were puffy and red. She had been crying for a while it seemed. "What was what?" She giggled and looked back at the now folded papers.

Sungmin raised his eyebrow before asking, "The whole crying and sobbing and hugging. What was that, hm? It can't be hard to explain and you can't fool me mother. You were crying, you're sad or upset. Why?"

Mrs. Lee rose from her seat and caressed her son's cheek with a soft smile. "Oh, Min, it's nothing. I just received a l-letter from your grandmother. She's sad that she didn't get to see you."

Sungmin felt somewhat touched by his mother's words. It seemed as if those clouds weren't going to be going away soon. The sky was cloudy in Goyang and there were many sprinkles and a lot of breeze. He had promised he would go and see his Grand'Mere when the weather had gotten better. He looked at the sky everyday and hoped for a sunny day.

He nodded his head and didn't push his mother with any questions. He found no reason to, it would only make her stressed. He didn't want to upset her and she didn't want to do the same for him. The two had been through too much, so they didn't need anymore drama. For now they only had each other, plus Grandmother Lee. It was just the three of them for now.

Sungmin made himself a cup of coffee. He had gotten used to drinking coffee ever since he entered the eighth grade. He was told it helped people stay up due to the caffeine and it tasted delicious. He tried it and somewhat felt the effects come and he seemed satisfied by it. He was told to not drink too much though. Caffeine wasn't necessary something to have a lot of in your body apparently, those words had belonged to his mother.

After pouring the coffee into a mug, he heard footsteps and listened as they turned faint. He turned around and saw the small circular table empty, his mother wasn't there. He eyed th folded papers that were on top of the table. He glared at them and wondered what on Earth was written in them. His mother had been looking at them when she started to cry. If anything, those papers had made her cry. Those papers had made her wish for comfort.

He took a few steps and reached his hand out to try and grab the papers. He had been to distracted that he hadn't noticed the footsteps returning. When his mother was at the doorway, he looked up and moved away from the table immediately and went back to the mug of coffee. He didn't look back at her, but she didn't mention about the papers at all.

"It , it's Saturday, but I still have work." Mrs. Lee said with a frown as she took the folded papers and approached her son.

Sungmin wheeled around to her with the mug of coffee and raised eyebrows. "Well, yeah. I thought you were trying to not work Saturdays?" He blew on the coffee a bit as he watched his mother's reaction.

"And I thought you were trying to not get stressed out by people." Mrs. Lee said as she smiled brightly and crossed her arms as she watched her son take a sip of his coffee.

Sungmin shrugged and exhaled deeply. "It's not easy to make friends, umma. Besides, I don't like what people say about my family. Who are they to have the right to criticize?"

Mrs. Lee chuckled and wrapped an arm around her son's shoulders as she smiled widely. "Don't worry about us, my dear. We're perfectly fine, don't you know? We can't be effected by people, we must ignore them."

"That's impossible." Sungmin said as he frowned.

Mrs. Lee shook her head and placed a kiss on her son's cheek. "No, it's not my dear." She rubbed his arms and then released her own arm and smiled brighter. "I won't be back until Tuesday, okay? My boss wants me to do some business in another city."

Sungmin groans by her words. He hadn't expected this. He hadn't seen his Grand'Mere in a while and now he wouldn't see his own mother for a few days. He placed a hand over his face and shook his head before releasing a deep breath. No matter what he said it was work and his mother would be going whether or not he wanted her to. She figured he would be okay and would be fine while dealing with any problems he may occur.

"Well, I'll miss you but..." He allowed his words trailed off but smiled sweetly before answering to her. "I'll see you on Tuesday and I'll do fine, I hope."

Mrs. Lee chuckled before embracing her son and leaving her son completely alone in the kitchen. She wasn't there or the folded papers Sungmin had wanted to unfold and read to himself.

The drive to Seoul wasn't far at all.

She had waited in her office until a man in a suit entered the building and went into her office and told her that her ride was here. She had taken her purse and followed the man outside of the building and to the outside. The man in the suit had opened the door of the black car and took a seat in the front with the chauffeur. The drive began.

Mrs. Lee took her phone and smiled as she saw she had text messages from her son and voice mails. Sungmin had said he had arrived at work and one of the female co-workers was acting all dramatic and distant. She had also gotten pissed off easily and yelled at Mr. Lee and he fired her on the spot. Now the restaurant was one employee short. She giggled as Sungmin was thankful for her being fired since she was lazy at her job.

Sungmin had asked if she had arrived and had even asked what city she was going to. It wasn't hard for her to lie to her son, but it was difficult for her to not reveal anything. Her face or tone would unveil everything and her son could tell easily when something was wrong or out of place with her. She was his mother.

She had told him she was off to Mokpo and that she would feel exhausted after the trip. She didn't intend on replying to any other questions of his and would later on tell him that the reception was bad or her phone had caught some virus or bug. She didn't want to create too many lies, later on the pain would just hurt more.

Mrs. Lee had sighed deeply and looked out of the window when the car had stopped. The man in the suit had gotten off and opened the door for her. She looked up at the building that had the words, Kim Corporations. She gulped and followed the man with the suit. She felt her heart run a marathon as she made her way into the building and followed the man into the elevator and to Floor 20 they went up to where the now owner of the company stayed in her office.

When the elevator stopped and opened its doors, Mrs. Lee took another deep gulp and followed the man out. They had walked through a room and into a hallway where they stopped at a cloudy glass door was with a little sign that had the engraved words, KIM HYUNA. The man knocked on the door and opened it and moved away so Mrs. Lee could enter.

Once she was inside of the office, the man closed the door and she kept her eyes on the young woman who sat at her desk with a smirk. She still looked the same as always, beautiful and elegant. And intimidating and dangerous. Mrs. Lee couldn't help but feel somewhat terrified.

Hyuna chuckled and cleared . "Hello, old friend. How is your day going so far? Did my servants serve you well?"

Mrs. Lee glared at her as she spoke. She had never liked overconfident people. She crossed her arms and was no longer nervous to share her piece. "We will never be friends and we never were, Hyuna."

Hyuna giggled and gestured at one of the two seats in front of her desk. "Do sit, will you? We have things you wanted to discuss and I was wondering about how you were doing."

Mrs. Lee hesitantly sat down and eyed the black bowl of red apples that laid at the near edge of the desk.

"Would you care for one? They're quite delicious." Hyuna said as she took one of the apples and placed it on her red lips.

Mrs. Lee shrugged effortlessly. "Apples aren't really my choice of fruit. They seemed to sweet and the juice was always sticky and messy."

Hyuna pouted. "Too bad. Besides, let's get to business shall we. Did you receive the papers I sent you?"

Mrs. Lee nodded her head and easily recalled looking at those papers and bursting into tears. Even now she was getting somewhat teary eyes.

"I did and I couldn't help but...Please, don't allow this to happen, please." Mrs. Lee begged as she clasped her hands together and looked at Hyuna with widened eyes.

Hyuna remained calm and raised her eyebrows in curiosity as she stared at the woman who was breaking down right in front of her. "What do you want me to do? He's seen him, you know?"

Mrs. Lee panted deeply and shook her rapidly with disbelief. "No, no, no! That can't be...How can it? How did he..." She was confused, Hyuna tricked people but it was rare for her to lie.

"Oh yes, it did happen." Hyuna said as she released an exhausted breath and stared at the red apple she held. "He entered my home and looked at him. Now that they've seen each other, the bars to his cage I placed him in are loosening."

"Please, don't! M-my son...Let him be spared, he doesn't deserve a beast like him." Mrs. Lee said as she sobbed hard.

Hyuna shrugged and set the apple down. "If he falls for him, my plans are ruined. I have a plan, but I need something from you in return and you must give it to me quickly."

Mrs. Lee started calming down a bit as soon as she heard there was indeed hope for her dear son. "What is it? Tell me! Please, I'll do anything."

Hyuna rose from her seat and glared at Mrs. Lee as she walked around her own office. "I don't know if I can trust you, Mrs. Lee. You do remember what happened last time you tricked me, do you not? Three innocent ones paid for your crime and your son wasn't tainted, besides his lips of course."

Mrs. Lee looked at the intimidating woman. "I swear, I will do as you say! Please, just make sure he never can be with him. Please, it's only you who can stop this."

Hyuna wheeled around and looked at her desk. She approached her desk and took the apple in her hands before looking back at the woman. "You must give me something."

"W-what is it?" Mrs. Lee asked with hopeful eyes.

"Your son's red hoodie." Hyuna answered simply.

Mrs. Lee froze in her seat as the words sank in and made her heart break. Sungmin loved his red hoodie. It had been from his grandmother and the material Grandma Lee had used to make it had been purchased by Grandpa Lee. The hoodie was really valuable to Sungmin.

"H-he loves that hood...He takes care of it 24/7. He's the one who washes and dries it. He takes care of as if it's a baby, he loves it because it's from his grandmother." Mrs. Lee said as she looked at Hyuna.

Hyuna nods her head. "Don't you understand what that means? A valuable thing for a valuable someone. You'll make sure your son's virtue is spared and I'll take what was made for him by his grandmother. The hood will seal the deal."

Mrs. Lee felt her voice cracking as she replied. "There's nothing else, is there? Nothing else I can give you?"

"If you give me your son's beating heart than the animal won't have anyone to love, literally." Hyuna said as she burst into laughter as Mrs. Lee just widened her eyes more. "Joking."

Mrs. Lee sniffled. "You have a...d-deal."

"See? Things will turn out the way you wanted them to be. Don't feel too bad, you will get what you wanted, right?" Hyuna said as she pushed the apple into Mrs. Lee's hands and exited the room.

~~~
Hyuna made her way into her home and didn't even acknowledge the maids and servants whom had been waiting for her. She didn't greet them because they really didn't matter to her at all. They had no class so there was no reason for her to have to express any sympathy towards them. And even if she wasted her time to pity them, she wouldn't do anything to male them feel better.
She went up the stairs and made her way to her bedroom. She locked the bedroom door and made her way to her mirror. She crossed her arms and glared at it with hate. There were so many things she hated and liked about the mirror. As she stared at it she noticed at the top and bottom of the mirror there were visible cracks.
The spell she had on this mirror was fading away and she couldn't allow that to happen. She needed the pieces of the other world in order for to have magic to use for her spells to work. When Mrs. Lee gave her the red hoodie she would have the ability to use magic, however she would have to imprison another to be her new mirror-person. She needed someone there and the prisoner in there now was going to be released.
Hyuna looked at the mirror a bit longer and immediately she wasn't looking at her reflection anymore. In the mirror was a young man who was about her height and was quite handsome. His eyes were indeed the way to make you drown and so was his voice, but only she could hear his voice, besides his beloved who she would have to make sure he never stepped foot in here again.
"I might as well be honest with you now because...You won't remember a thing once I get that hood. Do you remember who you tainted?" Hyuna said as she planted her hands on her hips and tilted her head.
The young man growled at her and his eyes turned gold. "What. The. Hell. Did. You do?! Who do you think you are?! How dare you?!!" His clenched fiesta started pounding on the glass mirror and small cracks were becoming visible.
Hyuna widened her eyes and thought inside of her head and tried to desperately remember a spell. She found one but didn't know if there was enough magic for it to work. She knew she couldn't let him escape like this. She couldn't allow him to.
She muttered the words quietly and placed her hand away from her face and had her palm facing the mirror.
Do not shatter the glass,
For what you once had can never last.
Don't underestimate me,
For you know what can one day be.
You will not be free,
I shall not let you flee!
The glass mirror broke and out came the young man who had been in there. There was pieces of shattered glass that was scattered everywhere as the young man sat on his knees and placed his two hands over his head. Hyuna had seen dark red light shoot from her palm and engulfed the mirror. There was smoke everywhere surrounding the young man.
Hyuna panted deeply as she watched the young man closely for his next word or action. She widened her eyes as the young man removed his hands from his head and looked up at Hyuna with an innocent looking face. He looked calm and quiet and confused.
"W-w-where am...Where..." The young man asked softly as he looked around at the room.
Hyuna instantly took her cell from her pocket dialled a number. When the number went through she answered. "Hello, yes this is Hyuna. Do you have any rooms open? ...Yes, I would like one please. This patient is Cho Kyuhyun, I'll give you more information when we get there."
The young man stared at her as she placed his phone back and helped him back up and exited the home and got one of her servants to drive her to Seoul's Mental Facility that was only ten miles away from her home.
Little girls, this seems to say,
Never stop upon your way.
Never trust a stranger-friend,
No one knows how it will end.
He said softly as he sat at the cold silver metal chair. He was brought to the 'Social Room' by one of the nurses. The Social Room was a room in the entrance of the asylum near the elevator and small office for the ones keeping track of stuff. The Social Room was a small area with two circles of silver metal cold chairs. Right now, he was sitting at the Social Room, but the other patients were minding their own business
They didn't want to get near him.
They believed they weren't as "mad" as him.
He giggled lightly. "They...They all like stories, don't they?" He blushed and looked down at his lap with red cheeks. "Shall I continue?" He giggled and continued on.
As you're pretty, so be wise;
Wolves may lurk in every guise.
Handsome they may be, and kind;
Gay, and charming–never mind.
Now, as then, tis simple truth:
He stopped when he heard the ding of the elevator male noise. He slowly lifted his head up and looked to where the elevator was. Out came a young woman helping a young man stand. He could easily recognize the two. He has seen there faces before. He could also recall their names, but he felt too weak to call out to anyone. He gulped slowly and blinked a few times as he watched the two.
The woman was talking to one of the ladies who sat at the desk. He didn't know the name of the desk ladies, but he knew they weren't kind at all. They always made gossip and spoke bad about the patients. He felt bad for the patients who heard them. He was surprised to see the lady be so kind to the young man. Usually they were quiet with a new patient, distant and uninterested.
"Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth!" He said as he widened his eyes as a nurse took the young man and lead him to the ward. He had gone pass him and he could easily smell the scent of nature.
The forest.
His head had been turned and he had been focused on one thing that he hadn't realize someone had approached him. He turned his head back and saw the young woman sitting on the metal chair to his left. Her eyes were sparkling, her lips were red from lipstick, and she wore tight clothes and shoes with heels.
He opened his mouth, but she opened hers quicker. "Hello, Ryeowook. It's been a while, has it not?"
Ryeowook's eyes widened.
She knew about everything.
He knew her and she knew him.
She was an enemy.
Kim Hyuna.
The Queen and Witch of Metria.
