“HYUUUUNNNGGGG I AM DOOOMMEEEDDD!” Chanyeol ran towards Kris’ and Luhan’s office.

“Woah, woah calm down kid!” Minseok appeared and ruffled his hair

“Bu-Bu-BUT”

“Hold your horses man, sit... sit down first”

Luhan handed him some water

“Hyunnnggsss!!!” He protested again

“What is it this time?”

“Ba-Baekhyun is.... is.....” Chanyeol is suddenly pulling the three of them into a hug and he is crying and sobbing hard.

“Wa-wait Chanyeol can you please explain first...” Luhan is trying to escape from the hug making him to be pulled back in harder.

“Baekhyun is leaving me...” He said in between sobbing

“Be-Baekhyun is leaving for three months, he’s going to visit his mom and brother” He was sobbing again

“Chanyeol can you please calm down.” Kris was hugging him back now

“BUT I can’t live without my midget hyung!!!” He was sobbing at his Kris hyung’s shoulder by then.

They all took mental notes of that statement.

Lay was kind enough to pick Chanyeol from the hyungs’ office when he did not stop from crying although Baekhyun will not leave in a month.

Lay even cooked chicken noodle soup for him.

“Junmyeon is on his way now. We can talk when he arrives okay?” Lay handed him some soup.

It did not take that long before they were all sitted at Lay’s bedroom floor and Chanyeol is about to cry again.

“Junmyeon hyung I know you wanted to scold me on how shallow this predicament is but I truly feel lonely even by just thinking about it hyung. I am so sorry” He said

That made Junmyeon frown

“I am not that cruel” He said

“You are sometimes” Chanyeol said while Lay is soothing his back because he is again about to cry

“Baekhyun what are you trying to do with Chanyeol?” That was Kyungsoo barging in the basement when he heard about the news.

Baekhyun just stared blankly at him.

“I really do not know Kyungsoo. I don’t know” He helplessly said

“Like I do not know what on Earth I am pulling this right out of now but I wanted to run. For once to truly run away Kyung. This is bad, I know. It’s not even healthy for me or for him  but I wanted to know. I wanted to know if... I do not know”

Silence enveloped the place.

“Like for how much would he want to be with me Kyungsoo? Is he around to be my friend? Am I allowed to push this further?”

Kyungsoo just nodded.

“You do not want to ruin the friendship.” Kyungsoo said

“I know the feeling” Kyungsoo added

“Does he even want me? Do I matter?” He asks

Kyungsoo nods

“See, Chanyeol is... Chanyeol is...” He tries to make sense out of it all

Kyungsoo looks at him expectantly

“He is precious Kyungsoo. He is Chanyeol and I do not want to make him uncomfortable. I do not want to lose him in anyway. He will always be Chanyeol to me” He pulls his hair in frustration and cups his head afterwards, looking at the ground.

“This is frustrating Kyungsoo. This is so frustrating! So.. so... so... frustrating” He actually wants to cry.

“I want to leave. I want to run away. But I want to stay. And honestly, I want to run to him. And finally ask him if there is a slight chance?” He then faced Kyungsoo again

“But then again Kyungsoo, how? I need to breathe first. I need to know if I really cannot live without Chanyeol. I needed to be sure”

Kyungsoo patted his shoulders.

“Can he live without me?”

Then silence.

The three kittens decided that it was their fault. So, the decided to confess to the hyungs after a mini gig at function.

“We’re sorry” Tao said

The three hyungs just blinked at them.

“Sehun, explain” Luhan said

“No hyung. Actually we are not sure if it is our fault in the first place” He started to expound

“But then, we actually talked openly to Baekhyun hyung about it this past few weeks” He continued

“So we think we are the reason why Baekhyun hyung looks so lost as hell and Chanyeol hyung is so sad as and the whole band dynamics went to the nearest trash bin at the moment. So we want to say sorry” Sehun ended

“But we are not really sure. But nonetheless we are sorry. But is it really our fault? Jongin asked

“We just pointed out the obvious” Tao pointed out

Minseok tsk-ed. Kris smiled slightly. Luhan just breathed in air.

“So is it?” The three confusedly asked

“No.” The three hyungs said

They left scratching their heads.

But oh well. At least they rest their case.

Baekhyun has not seen Chanyeol for the entire week. He heard from Chen that the giant has decided to stay at Yixing’s dorm at the moment. And that explains why Chanyeol’s dorm is empty last Monday. He did not even bump in his band practice at the basement yesterday. He is leaving this Saturday.

He was packing his things for his three month vacation of some sort. The TV noise is playing in the background. For starters, this is getting really out of hand he thinks. He feels like the world needs to do something about this RIGHT NOW!

Is it wrong to demand at the world? Will it holler back? Kick him in the ?

He slumped on the floor folding some more clothes when his phone beeped

Basement. Now.

Is all the message said. And well, it’s from Kris. So yeah, emergency gig related stuff.

He zipped his luggage and went to Jongin’s place.

For some sort of weird stuff or magic of unicorns, he arrived at the basement with the acoustics playing. He went in Kim’s place high-fiving Jongin’s dad and telling him that he won’t be seeing him for three months which earned him a tight hug from the kind man. He heard the acoustics down stairs stop and that’s his cue to go down the basement.

He wants a booming entrance so he went in with

“YO! YO! Kris! ‘zup?!” only to find a Chanyeol blinking towards him

Oh.

Chanyeol simply waved at him.

He actually wants to run back upstairs but his feet is currently failing him.

They stared at each other in silence for a good three minutes. It was silence with nothing, just the two of them in a staring contest of some sort.

Chanyeol started to scratch behind his ear, signaling that yes, he is panicking inside. That is when Baekhyun approached the giant. Earning him a surprised look from Chanyeol and a couple of coughs. He chuckled.

He sat on the floor facing Chanyeol.

“So?” He asked

Chanyeol cleared his throat trying to fix his composure. Fixing the guitar on his lap.

“Kris hyung wanted us to practice this set” Chanyeol was handing him a lyric sheet.
“It’s uhmm... a.... for a...” Chanyeol is trying to make up the words

Title: Love Song

“Wedding?” He asked

“Yeah, for a wedding this Friday” He can sense sadness in Chanyeol’s voice
“It’s ah... uh... for the first dance. The groom and the bride requested this song.” Chanyeol said

“I know for the past few weeks we are weird and stuff and I even tried to avoid you and stuff. Baek, I even came to a point of asking Kyungsoo to sub you for this but then he said no. Because for the love of God Baek, they all knew that we sound great in this song together. This is not the first time that you’re singing this and this is not the first time that I am playing guitar for it with you”

“There I said it. Say something”

He was just looking at Chanyeol the entire time.

“Why would you want Kyungsoo to sing this?” He wanted to know

“I don’t know... really... Actually my first instinct was to barge in your door when this set is on cue but then these past few weeks happened and I am confused as hell and ...” Chanyeol is trying to catch his breath

“Why are we even like this Baek? Tell me.”

Baekhyun is still staring at him.

God, this is frustrating! Chanyeol wants to rip his head apart. He needs answers.

“You know Baek, it’s okay if you don’t want to I can ask Chen or... Ju-“ He was about to stand up and leave

“No. Chanyeol I want to do this with you” Baekhyun finally said

That caught Chanyeol off guard. He sat on the makeshift chair again.

“Are you sure?” Baekhyun is now reading the lyrics and rehearsing some lines

“Yes. 300% positive Yeol” He plainly answered

“I do not want you to feel uncomfortable doing this.”

“Adding the fact that you’re leaving on Saturday” That made Baekhyun look up at him again

Yes, he knows.

Chanyeol looks offended actually.

He felt really guilty. Not in the entire existence of them being friends that he had imagined that it will come to this point.

Right there and there. Tears started to fall. He doesn’t want to cry on a Wednesday in the basement with his best friend. His offended best friend in that note. So he went for the most cowardly solution

“Yeol, I’m so sorry” He hurriedly stood up and run out

He locked himself the entire morning. He actually cried the entire morning, passing out on his sofa when his phone started to buzz in his pocket tirelessly. 

10 missed calls from each of the kittens
12 messages from Luhan
25 chat alerts from the PunkOuts

All messages asking him if he had seen Chanyeol after their “practice”

That’s when his doors opened up. Chanyeol entering with convenience store bag in his hands.

“I do not know what’s happening between us but I cannot stand seeing you cry. I am very sorry” He said sitting on the floor at the foot of the sofa where Baekhyun is lying down.

Chanyeol sighed.

Baekhyun got up and sat beside Chanyeol he took the bag and went in for the first chocolate he saw. If it’s Chanyeol and peace offerings, there’s got to be chocolates!

Chanyeol watched him eating with a smile.

“Am I forgiven then?” Chanyeol asked

Baekhyun shook his head

Chanyeol frowned and looked the other way

“No, I am not forgiving myself” Baekhyun then said

“What? Why?” That caught Chanyeol’s attention

“I don’t know... actually am I allowed to say this? Should I?” Baekhyun hugged his knees and hid is face. He is sniffling from what Chanyeol is hearing

“You know you can tell me anything” Chanyeol said

“Not this one” He said

“Why?”

“I do not want to hear nor see the result Yeol.” He answered

“I am a ing coward who does not want to know the result. I want to stay like this but then it is unfair for you” He explained crying

“Why?”

“Do you really want to know?” He muffled

“Yes.”

He faced Chanyeol wiping his eyes with his sleeves, clearing his throat, trying not to cry again. Swallowing again

And again.

Breathing in....

“I... I...” Chanyeol is just staring at him

“Chanyeol, all these years...” He looked at his hands then back to Chanyeol

“Yeol” He sighed

Chanyeol’s breathing is even, his is not.

“Okay. I need to let this out” He took a big breath

“Go on...” Chanyeol said

“Fine”

“Chanyeol, Yeol, I -“

“Chanyeol” Chanyeol is patiently waiting for him

“Chanyeol, I think”

“Chanyeol, I Love You.”

He immediately closed his eyes expecting for the worst.

But the next thing he knew, he was being grabbed into a bone crushing hug, his cheek meeting Chanyeol’s chest. His heart is beating fast. Chanyeol kissed the top of his head.  And Chanyeol is crying.

“I love you too Byun Baekhyun”  He whispered.

Baekhyun hugged him back.

They were just cuddling the out of one another that evening when someone entered the door.

“! I need to puke!” Someone announced

“You know the way to the bathroom hyung! Don’t make a mess!” Baek shouted back

Minseok made his way to the bathroom but after the said barfing session he started sobering up, trying to recall what he saw when he entered Baekhyun’s house. He went back to the living room only to see Chanyeol hugging Baekhyun by the waist while both of them are lying on the sofa.

“! YOU’RE BOTH FINALLY TOGETHER!!!” He shouted!

Hurriedly fishing his phone from his pocket.

“I NEED TO CALL EVERYONE!!!”

Earning chuckles from the new couple.

It was one of their best friend bonding time at the glass rooftop. They were lying on the floor watching clouds roll by. And it passed Chanyeol’s mind

“Baek what if one day...”

“What?”

“Nothing. It was just a foolish idea” He smiled

But what he wanted to say was;
Baek, what if one day I suddenly told you I love you and you agreed that you love me you love me too and we ended up with each other?

It was a long shot he knows. So, he never really  told him.

He just hoped for the best
