Baekhyun smiled his cheeky smile with crescent eyes and all.

“YES!”

And they were both sure that they look like fishes pulled out of water when they were both trying to dance but, nonetheless, it was fun.

“Baek?”  Chanyeol appeared out of nowhere sitting beside him at the library

“Hm?”

“Who are you going with?” Chanyeol asked

“Where?”

“Uhhh.... The dance~? The dance is next weekend?” He sounds unsure too

“I’m not going” He just plainly answered

“Bu-bu-BUT BAEK! I planned us to be miserable together!”

“Sorry Chanyeol, family matters”

And Chanyeol  thoroughly understood.

“Honestly though hyung, what do you think of Chanyeol hyung?” Tao absentmindedly fiddles with his bass while Baekhyun tries to help him set the basement up for rehearsals.

“What do you mean?” He said while trying to untie cables.

“You’ve been friends for a long time hyung”

Baekhyun just hummed. True.

“but have you never thought that Chanyeol hyung is hot and totally boyfriend like? I mean. He’s tall....” Tao suggested

“... and handsome” Jongin just arrived holding a couple of muffins, probably from his mom

“... and kind.” Sehun followed Jongin

“Seriously hyung... haven’t you thought about those variables?” Tao looked a bit surprised

Baekhyun used the nearest speaker as chair looking at these three idiots he considers as his own little innocent kittens.

He shrugged much to the trios’ dismay.

“C’mon hyung. You’re so lame!”
“Just get married already!”

“What’s so wrong about Chanyeol hyung huh? Is he not good enough for your taste?” Sehun just gave up his and just whined on the floor.

“I get it... I think I get it! Huh! You two are just stupid for not realizing it soon enough! Ha! Told ‘ya I’m the smartest! HAHAHAHA!” Jongin said like he owns the scene.

At least his parents owns this basement.

Jongin dramatically slammed the muffins on the coffee table and looked at his hyung.

“This is about THE FRIENDSHIP!” He pointed at his Baekhyun hyung

“That is tragic!” Tao said

“Why can’t this story be a fairytale?! I hate tragedies!” Sehun exclaimed

He just smirked while his kittens thoroughly gives up at life and just all gave out a sigh.

“Hyung, just ask Chanyeol hyung out already. This thing is so frustrating! Like... I’m already frustrated about this since I entered that music club room way back highschool!”

“We second the motion!” Both Jongin and Sehun raised their hands

It was Baekhyun’s turn to give out a sigh.

“Guys... Guys...” Baekhyun tried to get their attention

“What even made you think that I like the guy to that extent? Can’t we be just friends and be enough?”

“No!” Sehun protested

“Why?”

“Because hyung, you both deserve to be happy!” Jongin reasoned out

Are we unhappy?

“Hyung I know what that head tilt means! AND NO! Hyung... Hyung... You are not happy enough” Jongin pointed at him

When will they give up?

“Hyung can you please try?” Sehun said

Tao nodded while playing with the loose strand of his sweater.

“Guys......” Baekhyun wanted to explain but the trio just raised their hands in surrender

“We give up. Be happy. Live your life hyung” The three said in unison

Later that afternoon, the band, sans the three kittens and Chanyeol, decided on grabbing food together.

“I think Jongdae got lost.... or something” Minseok is looking around trying to find the apparently “lost” guy.

“Hyung what if....” Minseok immediately sat across Baekhyun anticipating his question

“Hyung ah” He grabbed the ketchup pouring it on a tab then he again stared at his hyung

“Like...”

“What if...”

“You know what hyung... I don’t know. I have these episodes and I honestly don’t ing know anything. I give up on myself”

Minseok is still staring at him like he’s a lost pup.

“See... even you think that I am pathetic!” He settled his burger on his tray and drunk his soda in one gulp.

“Baek whatever it is just do it. I mean what is there to lose?”

“Hyung there’s a lot to lose. I cannot....” Baekhyun just sighed

Kris then tapped his back while settling another batch of burgers in front of them.

“More burgers for confused people!” He hollered

“Here, have my soda” Kyungsoo put the drink beside him

“Do you all even know what on earth am I talking about?!” He almost shouted

“Honestly?” Minseok asked

Baekhyun nodded

“No” Kris, Kyungsoo & Minseok said together and he just plopped his head again on the table mumbling “I’m ing hopeless.... hopeless.... ing hopeless” again and again

“Professor, I think I am going to puke tragedies at this instant!” Is all he can say when it was Junmyeon’s dad that opened the door

“I was checking your paper this morning but you do not sound this desperate there” The professor  continued staring curiously at him seemingly trying to figure out how to help his student

“Honestly sir, I just need Junmyeon hyung that’s why I’m here” He then announced

“Right. Well...” The professor swung the door open

Baekhyun entered and run into the house

“He’s upstairs with Xingie!” The professor hollered

“Yep! Thanks prof!”

It is a nice house to be honest. Junmyeon’s photos lined up the stairway and he can even notice the growing starting collection of Yixing’s presence in some of them. The professor is sentimental like that. He continued staring at the pictures with the gang popping out ever so frequently.

Then before Junmyeon’s door is a photo of the whole band at their first ever gig.

The Blind Monkeys is what the bar is called. The owner is a stout old man. He was kind enough to let them play on a Friday night and the crowd was, well, what would you expect from a club owned by an stout old man on a Friday night?

He will just leave that to your imagination

He lift his hands to knock on the door but then, he does not know. What would he say? Is his feelings even valid?

Yixing and Junmyeon are the kindest people in the planet and he just wish that what he is about to get from them will help him in this chaos that he has gone into.

He sighed.

Jongin is becoming weird. Well, he IS already weird but something is “wrong-er” with him these past few days. He is getting worse!

“Something is weird with kitten number 1!” Minseok sat on one of the tables after a debut party that they played in. The rest were packing up the equipments

“He is already weird as he is, what are you saying?” Kris looked at the direction of Jongin.

“I don’t know he just goes blank frequently this week it’s like he is low on battery or something”

“Maybe he just needs sleep. You know, fine arts and graphic design is mentally exhausting” Kris suggested

“Baek did I did something weird?” Out of all the people he did not want to see today. The person he wished not to see popped out of nowhere, keying in his own code on his front door.

“No” He sighed still not looking at the said person

“Did I do something bad?” He asked sitting at the counter top facing the cooking Baekhyun

“Nope”

“Then why are you avoiding me?! I even told you to come and eat dinner with me last Wednesday. What’s wrong though? I don’t think I missed any important dates though...” When Baekhyun turned around to talk to him, Chanyeol was staring at the ceiling scratching his head while recalling dates

“It’s not you though....” Baekhyun placed pasta between them and sat on the counter top givng fork to his friend

“Huh?”

“It’s me Chanyeol. It’s all my fault”

“No... I do - I don’t think I understand it though” Chanyeol just looked at him and he just stared back and as if on cue...

“HHYYYUUUUUUNNNNGGGGG!!!!” Jongin came running

“You did not locked my door!” He looked at Chanyeol
“Sorry...” He whispered

Jongin rummaged  all through the receiving area before checking the kitchen when he saw them.

“Oh? Is it a bad timing?” He looked at them both

“Should I just come again another time?” He continued

He blinked and stared at them for a good three minutes. Jongin then smoothed his shirt walked towards the door.

“Yep! I’ll just bother you next time! Bye hyungs!” Then they heard the door closed

Chanyeol then proceeded on sitting on the kitchen counter.

“I’ll stay for dinner” He announced plainly

Chanyeol is not easy to get rid of.

It just gets really frustrating. Baekhyun thinks.

It was a very lazy afternoon and Finals is just about to conclude when Tao and Sehun decided to pay the Library a visit.

“We’ve been looking for you Baek hyung”

That caught his attention from his notes.

“Kittens, can you please be quiet. Like this is my last subject to have a test in then it’s the summer break. Like can I have a peaceful time at least?”

They both nodded and looked at each other then proceeded to staying in front of Baekhyun quietly for at least thirty minutes when he snapped.

“Okay kittens... I do not want to sound rude but can you both get lost?” He asked as calmly as possible.

“HyunghowaboutJonginisDatingKyungsooHyung” Sehun said in one go

“Or maybe that’s what we think it is” Tao added

“Huh?” He replied

“EXACTLY!” Both of his kittens pointed at him like he made the biggest point on Earth.

“That’s feakin’ impossible!” Baekhyun blurted louder than he wants to earning a stern look from the library assistant.

He mouthed a silent sorry.

“No kidding hyung. I saw them holding hands and unholding hands as soon as I showed up in the basement”

“They were giggling at the spot last Monday when I decided to eat”

“And Minseok and Jongdae hyung saw them shopping TOGETHER last weekend”

The his phone beeped

Luhan
Jongin just confessed that he is dating Kyungsoo

His mouthed gapped and the kittens dashed towards him unclasping his phone from him

“NO !”

They were all thrown outside the Library after

After his Finals was over he was supposed to get some rest as scheduled because practice and gigs flooded the week after so Baekhyun just ditched the whole mundated party at the end of the semester thing and just cooped up at his apartment.

For a change. He said. But in reality he was just really avoiding things for the time being.

He was on his eighth pack of chips when Jongdae and Minseok decided that crashing for the night was a good idea.

“ you Baek! You killed the vibe man! Who told you to ferment yourself indoors when the whole uni is pissing the entire neighborhood?!!!!” Jongdae was drunk as hell

“Good Evening Baek” Minseok smiled at him

“My house is not a recuperating facility people! When will you understand that and sink it in?” All drunk people these past few weeks had somehow decided that sleeping in his house when they are drunk is a good idea.

“But it’s convenient man! Yours is nearest to all the pubs and whatnot!” Jongdae reasons out making himself comfortable in Baekhyun’s couch.

Baekhyun just sighed and brought both of his friends water.

They were blankly staring at him during the entire run of the second scene of whatever he is watching when he noticed it.

“What?” He asked both of his friends

“Chanyeol is out there partying” Jongdae said

“So?” He asked back

“Girls might be grinding him in some god-knows-where dance floor right now” Minseok added in

“Huh?” He is starting to get confused

“Aren’t you jealous?” Jongdae asked

“No one’s going to do that to that giant. He would run out the club before that hypothetical girl could grind her hypothetical hips” He answered

“But what if...”

And just like that

“BAEEEEKKKKKK!!!” In goes the giant in question

Baekhyun again sighed

“I told you all my house is not an Alcoholic Anonymous meeting spot!” He angrily said

“I want to puke!”

“Bathroom’s that way giant! Why are you always here when you’re drunk in the first place? The whole gang now thinks that my place is...”

Both Jongdae and Minseok just shrugged at the scene.

“This is hopelessly domestic” He complained while staring at Sehun and Luhan trying to tidy up Luhan’s flat.

“You and Chayeol are just hopeless at least we are domestic” Sehun and Luhan high-fived each other

“Why are you all assuming that I want him anyway?” He rolled his eyes

“Hyung I do not know if you’re dumb or you are dumb”

“He follows you like a mother hen”

“He’s too tall to be a chick”

“But he’s your chick so that’s okay” They again high-fived each other

Why are his friends this lame?

Then three days after that it hit him. It was at the basement, when Kris asked Chanyeol if he can do this specific acoustic Japanese love song.

It was in the lines of  Whenever we disagreed, I would give in first
Your selfish nature made me love you even more

And it did not help when Chanyeol stared straight at him

One more chance
The memories restrain my steps

Then Chanyeol smiled

One more chance
I cannot choose my next destination

He was done for.

He cannot shake this away. He was frozen and he cannot help but to re-evaluate his feelings that he keeps trying to forget all these years.

“Baek what if one day...”

“What?”

“Nothing. It was just a foolish idea” He smiled
