I woke up to my phone ringing.

I groaned and picked it up.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hello~ Hehe, you sound so cute~" the person on the other end of the line said.

It took me a few seconds to realise it was Eli.

"Eli?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

"Yes~ Do you not recognise your own boyfriend's voice?" he asked, laughing.

I laughed with him. "I'm still sleepy, Eli."

"Aww, okay then. You go back to sleep, I'm taking you out today. I'll pick you up at 6," he said.

"What's today?" I asked.

"It's New Year's Eve, I'm gonna bring you somewhere," he answered.

"Oh. Okay then."

We both hung up after, and I went back to sleep for a bit more.

When I finally woke up again, the sun's rays were already brightening up my room.

I got out of bed and got ready for the day ahead.

After I had my breakfast, I went upstairs to pick out the clothes for tonight.

It seemed special, from the way Eli said it.

I picked out the nicest, yet thickest clothing Ihad, to make sure I look okay, and that I wouldn't freeze.

After I was done, I waited for the time to pass, doing nothing.

The doorbell rung, and I went downstairs, knowing it was Eli.

"Aunty, I'm going out with Eli~" I announced as I did. I didn't know where she was, so I seemed as if I was shouting to nobody.

"Alright, what time would you be back?" she asked, probably from her room.

I opened the door, and there was Eli. "Aunty's asking what time we'd be back." I said as soon as I saw him.

"After midnight," he said.

"After midnight~" I answered before closing the door.

Wait, after midnight?

"After midnight?" I asked, looking up at Eli.

"Yes," he nodded, then putting his arm around me.

"Where are we going?" I asked, suspicous.

"Somewhere pretty," he answered, smiling. I frowned.

I nodded anyways.

"You're so pretty today~" he commented, laughing.

"Thanks," I was almost getting used to his compliments everyday.

Just then my stomach grumbled, a sign that I was hungry.

"Let's have dinner before we go," he said, bringing me to town.

Many of the stores were closed, but we managed to find one open restaurant and had our dinner there. It wasn't the best food I've tasted, but it filled my stomach.

If this was a date, it was a failed one, I thought to myself.

"Seriously, where are we going?" I asked, impatient already.

We were waiting at the side of the road, for the cab we called for to arrive.

"It's a surprise," he said, folding his arms.

Hmph.

A taxi stopped in front of us, and we boarded it.

He passed a note to the driver, so I didn't know where he was taking me.

"Eli! That's not fair, I hate surprises," I pouted.

"I'm still not going to tell you~" he stuck his tongue out.

I rolled my eyes and tried to move as far as I could away from him, but he put his hand on my waist and pulled me closer to him.

Gahh.

We were getting closer to the busier part of Seoul, away from where we lived. 

When we were close, he made me close my eyes so I wouldn't see anything.

The cab stopped, and we got off.

He replaced my hands I had placed on my hands with his.

"Don't make me fall," I warned him.

He laughed "Of course not."

As we got closer to whatever it was, it started getting more noisier.

We kept walking until we were further away from the noise.

He removed his hands from my eyes and I looked out.

Beautiful, this place was.

I looked around us, and there were many other people there.

Most were couples, and there were some families around.

"The water's so pretty~" I commented, amazed. I felt dumb, since I've never been here in my life. 

Just then, Eli's watch went beepbeepbeep, and it was already midnight.

"Happy new year," he said.

I looked up at him.

"Happy new year to you too," I said.

Then suddenly the sky around us were being filled with colourful fireworks, brightening up the city.

I smiled.
